Hunter's Chase POA Year in Review 2015 was a busy year for our property owners association (POA) in terms of maintenance projects and repairs to our park and pool amenities! Listed below are some of the many improvements made/ initiated over calendar year 2015: • Thorough cleaning and repainting of the interior/exterior of the bathhouse • New lock and recoding of the park restroom • Purchase and setup of new portable soccer goal • Replacement of the glass filter media change for the pool • Re-plumbing of pool pump room and replacement of two pump motors • Increased use of lifeguards for holiday weekends • Improved drainage and erosion control surrounding the tennis courts and retention pond area • Additional mulch added to playscape areas in park • Trial usage of a security patrol service for three months Scheduled for 2016 Pool: • Replacement of skimmer baskets, baby pool multiport • Re-plumbing of filter • Repair of pool LED lights and gaskets for light housing Park: • Replacement of plants in beds surrounding rest room and street frontage • Addition of sod in 600 square feet of bare areas The Good News No dues increases will be proposed for 2016!

McNeil HS Project Graduation Needs You! Each year many high-school graduation celebrations turn into tragedies due to the use of alcohol and drugs as part of the postceremony festivities. In an effort to prevent this, Project Graduation, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to providing a safe, sober environment for McNeil High School graduates to spend their last night celebrating together, has been created.

This year, McNeil HS has chosen The Main Event to host a postceremony "all-nighter" from 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. An important fundraiser for the event is a "reverse raffle." A $100 donation gets you in the drawing for a $7,500 prize. Donations are limited to 250, so you have a one in 250 chance (or better the odds the more donations you make!) of winning.

There will be a reception and dinner to announce the winner this February, but you do not need to be present to win. Meanwhile, there are other opportunities to sponsor the event in addition to this fundraiser.

Interested in Hosting an Exchange Student?

Traveling the world and experiencing new cultures is something many dream of but few are able to do. Hosting an Ayusa exchange student provides the opportunity to experience the world while bringing other benefits to their family and local community.

For schools, opening their doors to an exchange student provides their students the opportunity to experience new cultures and expand their understanding of the global society. Not only will students be able to expand their circle of friends, they will be able to reference different perspectives of world events. The new perspectives that both local and exchange students gain through the exchange experience are invaluable for the ever-expanding global community.

MLK Day on January 18 is a National Day of Service From The Corporation for National and Community Service Legislation was signed in 1983 creating a federal holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service and charged the Corporation for National and Community Service with leading this effort.

Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a "day on, not a day off."

The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community." People of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities are encouraged to get involved.

Donate stuffed animals: Stuffed Animals for Emergencies has a list of local chapters that accept new or like new stuffed animals to be given to kids to help them feel a little more safe during emergency situations such as fires, illness, accidents, neglect, abuse, homelessness and even weather emergencies. You can scroll through their list of chapters by state to see where you can drop off or mail your stuffed animals.

Donate books: You can donate to Books for America.. They build and improve reading libraries in schools, shelters and many other organizations Donate Eyeglasses: OneSight collects gently used prescription eyewear and non-prescription sunglasses to help patients in their global clinics. You can donate glasses at LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical, ILORI, Optical Shop of Aspen.

Donate your new and used video games and game systems: The Get-Well Gamers Foundation distributes your games and game systems to hospitals. You mail your games and systems to their headquarters.

Donate DVDs and portable DVD players: You can send your DVDs to Kidflicks and they use them to stock movie libraries for hospitals. You can send your DVDs and portable DVD players to DVDs4Vets and they distribute to VA facilities.

Donate used or new greeting cards: St. Jude’s Ranch for Children will turn the fronts of the cards into new cards, which are then sold to customers. This program is for abused and at risk children to learn entrepreneurship skills.

Donate Clothes and Shoes: Clothes4Souls collects new or gentlyworn clean clothing. They provide clothes to people around the world who are in desperate need.
