Venue The activities of the JCI Africa and the Middle East Conference will take place in the ETI (Ecobank Translational Incorporated). The ETI building offers a nice environment for conferences and trainings with the latest technical tools, available and adequate for our event. The center can accommodate more than 1,000 people and offers a nice view of the Togolese coast and the sea. The Conference Organizing Committee is planning shuttle buses to transport the delegates from their hotels to the Conference venue. More information will be available as soon as delegates arrive in Togo.
Conference Information Registration Delegates are encouraged to register online before arriving in Lomé. Upon their arrival, the registered delegates must collect their badge at the Conference Headquarters, the Ecobank Transnational Inc (ETI). The online registration can be found at www.jci.cc/event/lome2014. Only delegates who have registered will be allowed to participate in Conference activities. Access will be limited to delegates with a Conference badge and to those who have entry tickets to events, if required.
Connectivity Togo has an international airport called Aeroport International Gnassingbe Eyadema located 6 km northeast of Lomé. Conference Event Attire
Transportation in the city of Lomé is provided by taxis, buses and motor bike taxis (Zemidjan). At an affordable price, these transportation means serve all destinations.

Shuttle Buses Shuttle buses will be available at the airport to take the delegates to their hotels. Taxis are a possibility for urban transport at an affordable price.
Travel Visa General Information The Togolese Republic is represented in a number of countries around the world either by diplomatic missions or consulates. The visa is issued outside of Togo by embassies and consulates of the Republic of Togo. For foreigners who cannot get a visa for lack of Togolese diplomatic representation, immigration services at the border can issue an entry visa for seven (7) days. In case your stay extends beyond the expected time, a foreigner can obtain a visitor’s visa at General Direction of National Documentation. The validity of a visa is usually one to three months. This visa is paid and the price depends on the agreements that Togo has signed with the applicant’s country of origin. Regulation of visas obtained at the borders is free for one month from the date of entry. Practical Information Entry visas are issued at all Togolese borders (land and air) according to the following conditions: • You must have a valid passport • You must have pages available in the passport (a page for the entry visa and a page for entry and exit stamps) • The entry visa is issued for a period of seven days. If the stay will last longer, the visitor has the possibility to extend for one month (from the date of entry) to the General Direction of National Documentation according to the following conditions: you must have two passport photos and 500 f CFA. There are no other fees (already paid at the entry border). • Nationals of ECOWAS member countries do not need a visa. Visa Fees • France: 10,000 f CFA (1FCFA = 0.00152 Euro) • Gabon: 25,000 f CFA • USA: 15,000 f CFA (1FCFA = 0.00211$) (for Americans, entry visa is extended for one year).

About Lomé, Togo Togo is one of the smallest countries in Africa, but don’t be fooled by the size. Togo is a great country with enormous potential. Togolese people know the meaning of friendship and welcome visitors easily into their daily lives. Togo is known as the smile of Africa! One of the most remarkable icons of Togo is undoubtedly the international player Emmanuel Adebayor playing at Tottenham. His career, his social character and determination to win every game is a reflection of the enthusiasm and the legendary hospitality of the Togolese people.
Weather Togo enjoys mainly a sub-tropical climate. The rainy season is in-between the summer months starting from October to March of the following year. The heat is constant, the average maximum temperature under shelter is 30°C in the afternoon, and the average minimum temperature is 23°C in the morning. At the beginning of the year, the country sometimes experiences the Harmattan, a dry wind from the Sahara and this wind can bring the temperature down to 19°C in the morning in Lomé.
Language French is the official language in Togo. It is widely used in all urban centers.

Electricity The electric power is estimated at 220/240v. Both square and round Type C plugs are used.
Explore Togo Built on the coast, facing the blue waters of the Gulf of Guinea, Lomé presents a relaxed, welcoming and harmonious image. It is a city with modern hotels, offering different sorts of restaurants, casinos, thriving markets and vibrant nightlife. With over a million inhabitants, Lomé is the largest city in Togo. It is also a busy capital during the daytime where all economic activities of the country take place. During the night, locals and visitors adventure to bars and numerous nightclubs animating the night in Lomé.
Beautiful Beaches (Baguida - Avepozo) A few kilometers away from Lomé in Benin, enjoy the numerous sandy beaches lined with coconut trees. There are several accommodation and leisure centers that offering some relaxing time under the sun!
The Artisan Village and Market At the artisan market on Arts street, not far from Gulf Hotel, you can find all kinds of artifacts. It is a great place to buy souvenirs and the experienced customer can find a variety of valuable things commemorating your exciting stay in Togo. The artisan village presents an assortment of trades and you can see craftsmen and women at work with batik, wood sculpture, painting and weaving.
The Big Market The Big Market is located near the Cathedral, where most of the daily business takes place in Lomé. This market is a mustsee attraction and provides great energy and life to the city. The busy commotion of the market is complimented by live African music. It is a vibrant staple of Togolese urban activity.
The Fetich Market At the Fetich Market, you will find traditional Togolese religious artifacts along with traditional Togolese medicine and health products. Discover bird feathers, animal skulls, beast furs, leaves and all sorts of things expected to have magical values on the shelves of this eclectic market.

Health Togo has adequate sanitary facilities with experienced medical professionals who care much about the patient’s health. With a health policy for all advocated by the government, CMS (medico-social centers) are increasing across the country to be closer to the population and with a quality service. International Vaccination Certificate: • Yellow fever vaccination is required (valid for 10 years). • Vaccination against Hepatitis B is recommended, as well as those against meningitis and typhoid are recommended due to recent outbreaks. • A treatment against malaria is recommended.
Currency The currency is the C.F.A BECEAO (XOF). Traveler’s checks and foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks, exchange bureaus and authorized hotels. The US dollar, Euro and British Pound are the most easily converted currency. Visa credit cards are accepted throughout the country, in most hotels, restaurants and shops. The ATMs accept foreign Visa cards and MasterCard, but are mostly found in large cities like Lomé.
Tourism Resources Togo has a remarkable historical and cultural heritage. You can see historical sights of the slave trade like the Agbodrafo and WoodHome, buildings with traditional colonial architecture and the Koutammakou landscape, which was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004. Explore the caves and attics of Nok and Mamproug and see the cave paintings of Namoudjoga and Sogou. Visitors will discover a thousand and one wonders all over the city.
Cultural Notes Togo’s population is a mosaic of peoples belonging to different origins. Its 5.5 million inhabitants belong to 40 different ethnic groups.
