DEAR FAMILIES, This year has been such a delight to have our families back in the building and our events back on the calendar. Every day, at about 8:45 we open the doors to our most honored guests –the children. Prior to that teachers have been in classrooms preparing for the day with morning provocations, setting up the areas for children to work in and gathering materials. When the children arrive, there is such joy as they go to their rooms. The robust experiences provided are based on the dimensions of learning, often exceeding what is expected of children this age. We rejoice each and every day that we open the glass doors! Planning for the 2022-2023 school year has already begun, and we appreciate all of our families that registered again to be with us in this happy environment. Enjoy this special time with your family. We hope to see you at our upcoming events Afternoon of Stories and Springtime at Peachtree. We eagerly await this time with your children and with you! Parent Atelier and Exhibit

Thank you to the parents who participated in the Parent Atelier and Exhibit. Parents were able to experience the “Mosaic of Marks, Words, Materials” exhibit that is being housed at Peachtree. This exhibit is a collection of works by young girls and boys who attend the preschools in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The participants were then able to do a handson atelier in the Studio. If you are interested in learning more about the exhibit, contact Patty Randall - prandall@ peachtreepresbyterianpreschool.org.

Come join the fun at Camp Peaches! Skilled teachers and enthusiastic youth assistants provide an exciting, safe environment for campers to develop their active imaginations through handson adventures. Unique classes introduce campers to the stimulating world of discovery.

Making our Mark in the Orange Room, Two-year-old clas

Since the beginning, mankind has had a strong desire to make its mark, to leave a trace that says, “ I am here” or as a way to communicate with others. In our lives, drawing and marks provide communication. From lines on the roads, and lines and shapes on weather maps, to emoji’s we send in text, we communicate using “mark making.”Thechildren in the Orange Room have that same capacity to communicate. The teachers in the classroom are curious about the ways children approach markmaking, how the materials influence the stories children have and how the stories children have influence the materials they choose. Through their mark-making, the children give us a glimpse into their thinking.

Dream Big, Little One by: Vashti Harrison

On August 28, 1963, a remarkable event took place--more than 250,000 peo ple gathered in our nation’s capital to participate in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The march began at the Washington Monument and ended with a rally at the Lincoln Memorial, where Martin Luther King Jr. deliv ered his historic “I Have a Dream” speech, advocating racial harmony. Many words have been written about that day, but few so delicate and powerful as those presented here by award-winning author and illustrator Shane W. Evans. When combined with his simple yet compelling illustrations, the thrill of the day is brought to life for even the youngest reader to experience.
