The period of early childhood is now considered the most crucial time in human development. Personalities are being formed and attitudes toward learning and life are being solidified. It’s a time when children are learning about how they feel about themselves, how they feel about others, and rapidly assimilating skills and knowledge about the world. It’s a time of great wonder, joy, curiosity and learning how to live! A positive educational experience in these early years can give children a passion, purpose and appetite for learning that will last a lifetime.
Each year we welcome children to the Preschool recognizing that they have an insatiable capacity to learn, grow and discover through play. Children are respected for who they are and where they are developmentally – not where we expect them to be now or in the future. We see all young children as competent and curious individuals who have endless potential to create and to explore the world around them. We offer an incredible gift each day of time and an environment that says – “Yes, come create, explore, and discover”.
Happy New Year and thanks for being part of the Peachtree community!

Hi Parents!
We hope that 2023 is off to a great start!
We have a calendar loaded with fun events this Spring and Parents’ Council is looking forward to seeing our families participate. Our community is one of the many things that makes the Preschool so special and these events will give each of you the opportunity to get involved and spend time together with other families.
On February 26, the Preschool will host the annual Afternoon of Stories. This is a fun afternoon of storytelling by the Preschool’s faculty and friends. The event is open to the community and we are currently seeking storytellers and musicians to perform on this day. If you would like to share your talents with us, please contact Patty Randall prandall@peachtreepreschool.org or Rankin Langley rankin.langley@gmail.com.
One of our most anticipated events is just around the corner - Springtime at Peachtree on March 24! This year’s event will be a James Bond Casino Royalethemed gala and auction which benefits Peachtree’s Inclusion Program. The committee is working hard to find unique auction items (vacation homes, tickets to sporting events, shows and concerts, rounds of golf, chef’s tables, artwork and other unique items and experiences). If you have access to any items that you would like to donate, please contact Kohler Sartain at springtimeacquisitions@ peachtreepreschool.org. This year’s event is black tie optional so book your babysitters and get excited for a BONDing night with the Peachtree community!
Finally, please save the date for the annual Peachtree Family Festival on Saturday, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. With bounce houses, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting and more, this event is so much fun for all of our families and definitely a day you won’t want to miss.

The teachers in the Tapestry Room, a Five/Six class, have noticed the childrens’ conversations have recently been centered around clouds. Perhaps the rainy days and thunderstorms are capturing their attention? In both the classroom and the Studio, the children have been invited to share what they know and think about clouds. It’s clear to us that children are perfectly capable of sharing complex thinking. Here is a selection of a conversation:
“There’s actually a life cycle of a cloud - hot water rises from the ocean and forms the cloud - when they rain, those are their tears.” -Henry B
“Clouds get sad and scared because the sun could melt them.” -Cate “The clouds look sad today because of the grey and darkness.” Emeline ‘I think the really dark ones mean they are mad.” - James “When they’re angry they go BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!” -Chelsea “When the sun comes up the clouds fly away and they’re sad because they have to leave. Clouds are happy when there is no sun and at nighttime, the clouds are SOO happy.” -Henry O
The class is looking forward to further pursuing these ideas and theories in the upcoming weeks. These examples of critical thinking and creativity are building the children’s literacy knowledge, scientific thinking, and social development, and as they continue to evolve we anticipate more narratives and theories to emerge.
