SEPTEMBER 2022

Beginnings: Ebbie M., The Blossom Room, Three-year-old class | Poppies | Mixed Media on Paper

DEAR FAMILIES,

It’s going to be a great year. Stop by anytime to ask questions or just chat. JANE

We have lots of opportunities for families to learn more about the program. We will have age-level coffees in September and October for anyone interested in learning about the developmental domains of their child’s age group. Additionally, we have Nurtured Heart Classes for families beginning soon.

MISSBest,

There is nothing more exciting to an educator than the start of a new school year. It’s like a new beginning – meeting new families, children and educators. This year has been no different and the excitement in these Peachtree halls is evident each day as they are filled with our community.

Parents’ Night Out parties are coming up in September and October. These are fun evenings with delicious food, cocktails and conversation with other parents in this precious phase of life. Book your babysitter and purchase your tickets on the Preschool’s website. You don’t want to miss it! If you have been here for years and already know an abundance of families, come and welcome the new faces into your fold. If you are new here and don’t know anyone yet, come, this is where you start! I, for one, am looking forward to it!

As this year’s Parents’ Council Chair, I hope you will embrace the community here in its fullest. Consider getting involved in the classroom, on committees, or at events offered by the Preschool. Get to know your teachers, read a book in your child’s class, or attend a playdate to meet your child’s friends and their parents. Volunteer at the Pumpkin Patch, bring your children to Afternoon of Stories, and plan to attend Springtime at Peachtree! The Parents’ Council is open to all Preschool families, and we hope you will join us this year in whatever capacity you can. You will find that engaging in this community will enrich your experience here tenfold. Please feel free to reach out to me to learn about any of our opportunities for involvement, big or

From Parents’ Council:

All the best,

Oursmall.grade-level

We are so excited to have you in the Preschool community this year. Whether you are new to Peachtree or a returning family, I hope you have already begun to see what a special place you have chosen for your child. The beginning of the school year is always full of optimism, promise, and an appetite to learn and grow in so many ways. I hope that your child has already begun to form new friendships, establish trust with their teachers, gain confidence and independence in their daily routine, and experience the joy that Peachtree brings each day as they play and learn.

In the journey to evolve as Reggioinspired educators, the Preschool develops strategies to enrich the daily life with children.

Setting intentions is a powerful tool and the first step in designing the preferred story we intend to live with the Preschool's children, families, and colleagues.

The eleventh annual Springtime at Peachtree gala is set to roll on Friday, March 24, 2023, featuring an exciting casino royale theme. The night is a non-stop party including an open bar and hors d'oeuvres, live and silent auction, dancing and mingling with elite Atlantans and raising funds for the incredible work the inclusion program shares with each and every child at the Preschool.

BOND together for a night of high style and high rolling as we raise money and awareness for Peachtree's Inclusion Program

The Inclusion Program at Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool is unique; children with special rights learn side-by-side with typical peers. A trained inclusion teacher facilitates the curriculum, interaction, and play. Children with special rights accomplish more than their families ever dreamed possible by learning alongside typical peers. The Inclusion Program also has a tremendous impact on the typical children as they learn about differences, collaboration, and acceptance at a very young age, building a foundation of Researchempathy.

has shown inclusive education to have life-long positive implications for everyone Learninvolved.moreat SpringtimeatPeachtree.org. at victoriagilchrist@gmail.com

This life-changing program is fully funded and supported by the Preschool families and generous local businesses who believe all children have a right to reach their highest potential. Our goal is to emphasize the value of differences rather than the stigma associated with disability. We need your support to fund tuition costs, continue teacher education, provide equipment, supplies and much more!

Your impact

Inserimento is a very tender time for children, families, and teachers. We believe it is essential for teachers to listen to children. We try to carefully listen and observe what the children communicate in gestures, facial expressions, movements, and other signs that may show interest, discovery, or well-being. (Bam bini, p.53) Together, we must share and understand moments of uncertainty or difficulty to build a sense of security and belonging. This transition time is not a particular beginning and end; instead, there are moments when we try something, adjust the situation, and try again in this period. Each child enters the situation in a unique manner that must be honored. Observing and listening to the children reveals budding friendships, examples of bravery and control, and moments of joy and delight.

During the first three days of school, educators observe children using mark making to connect with friends. After reflection on a series of pictures from the first three days, the educators noticed a common thread: happy faces, se lf portraits an d the excitement around these drawings.
