Dear Parents, At this time of year, the classroom community has become much more cohesive and children are aware of the other adults and children in the community. Throughout the year, children are working on essential life skills that are important for success in life. In Mind in the Making, Ellen Galinsky outlines the seven most important life skills: • Focus and self control • Perspective taking • Communicating • Making connections • Critical thinking • Taking on challenges • Self-directed engaged learning Peachtree seeks to provide daily classroom experiences that enhance these important life skills. The cooperative nature of play and collaborative work in the classroom leads to many opportunities for problem solving. Complex negotiations occur over division of resources, turn taking and assignment of roles. It’s so much fun to watch the children in their daily work! Miss Jane
