Dear Families, Peachtree has long valued professional development of faculty to promote the highest quality of early childhood education for young children. We believe that all professionals need to continue to update their knowledge and skills through systematic and coherent experiences.

On November 14, Peachtree will host a conference and a tour of schools before the start of the annual National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) conference and expo that will be in Atlanta. This is indeed an honor for our school community. School will be closed for children on that day. We will have educators from all over the world on the campus in an exchange and dialogue on early childhood. We look forward to a day of sharing and collaboration.

We hope you are enjoying this beautiful time of year with your family. We know how busy and exciting the Fall can be with little ones.

Parents’ Council has also been busy this Fall. We hope you all enjoyed the Parent Parties, the first Annual Peachtree Pumpkin Patch and the Stroller K. The community we have at Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool is just the best!

Thanks to all who were involved in the wonderful fall events; we simply could not put on such fun activities without the awesome help of our Peachtree parents.

Thank you also to Dana Gillis, Trenton Chasteen, and their volunteers for organizing the individual picture sessions for the children. Photographs should be available around Thanksgiving with time for re-orders for Christmas.

The annual National Association for the Education of Young Children conference will be in Atlanta from November 15 – 18. Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool has been selected to participate as one of the four Reggio inspired preschools in Atlanta in a pre-Conference educator tour on November 14. This is a great honor for Peachtree.

Maria Castagnetti will be the keynote speaker for the morning. Following the morning presentations, participants will be transported by bus to visit the other schools: Saint Anne’s Day School, The Nest Nursery School in Southeast Atlanta and Grant Park Cooperative Preschool. Educators from around the world will be on the campus, listen to presentations by our faculty and tour the environment. The Preschool will be closed on November 14.

how to create an advent calendar at home Christmas is just around the corner, and one of the first ways to observe the holidays is with an Advent calendar. Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas, but most Advent calendars cover December 1 through Christmas Day. Rather than purchase the traditional paper Advent calendar with daily treats, our family decided to create a more meaningful and exciting way to mark the days before Christmas. We came up with a group of daily activities that don’t involve much preparation. Christmas is a time for love and family, so simple activities that promote family bonding were our priority for the Advent season. Making and displaying the daily activity Advent calendar can be fun, too.

Create a wooden “tree” and hang numbered burlap bags with clothespins.

Or, use clothespins to hang paper bags from a string. Write the daily activity on a little card and place it inside each bag. We add a chocolate per week, just because!

2018-2019 Priority Registration Begins Registration for the 2018-2019 school year will begin on November 1 for both current students and those who will be new to the program. Applications and the accompanying registration fee of $120 per child may be submitted online at www.peachtreepresbyterianpreschool.org/admission.

The Preschool is again offering an extended Pre-K class in 20182019. This class will follow the same schedule as the Five/Six program. Dismissal on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be at 1:15 p.m. On Thursday and Friday, dismissal will be at 12:15 p.m.

Returning students and their siblings are guaranteed placement for the new school year if applications are received by noon on January 12, 2018. For new families, admission priorities are as follows: *active members of Peachtree Presbyterian Church *families from the community For those applying by January 12, 2018, enrollment status will be conveyed via email and via by letter on or before February 1, 2018. After January 12, 2018, admission will continue on a space

Prospective Parent Tours - Tell a Friend Tours of the Preschool give prospective parents an opportunity to visit the school and learn about the Preschool’s philosophy, while seeing students participating in class activities. Tours meet in the Welcome Center of the Family Commons at 9:30 a.m. Please invite any interested friends to attend a tour.

“Because we are the older class, we go out in the morning and wipe off things so the little kids don’t slip.” - Lilian Children of all ages love to help. The Tapestry Room children begin their morning with a small group going to prepare the play yard for the day. The children see this as a fun outside activity, but it also is a hand’s on way of showing empathy, leadership, thoughtfulness, and the power of action!
