If you think back on your own childhood memories of play and place, it is usually outdoors. I grew up on a farm, and my memories include playing in the fields next to our house which were so full of interest and exploration. We would build huts, use the sunflowers for flower arranging, and make mud pies with the dirt. Take a minute to go back in time and think about your childhood memories and the way in which you created games and stories. Research in the past ten years has shown that outdoor play is beneficial to a child’s physical development and academic success. We are excited to announce that Peachtree will have a new natural play yard. Using the existing playground space, the new yard will be divided into two areas, both of which will include multi-sensory natural playscapes. Elise Cormier from Smart Landscapes is developing a concept for the play yard, and the Annual Fund will help with expenses. A plan should be available for review in the next few months! Miss Jane
