Violet Chacki & Gottmik Taking It on the Chin

International drag superstars Violet Chachki & Gottmik have joined creative forces on their upcoming North American Tour - The Knockout Tour – kicking off in Atlanta on September 12. And thatʼs not all, because in support of their new show, they have also delivered a knockout single, “TKO”, an electrifying debut bursting with unapologetic queerness, and, of course, high fashion. We got a chance to talk to the icons about the collaboration, the new track, and the new tour.

Since your respective Drag Race seasons, tell us a little about what you have been up to.

Gottmik: Since Season 13, I got to travel the world on tours, I wrote a book called “The T guide”, Iʼve released music, started working a bit in the fashion space, and started a podcast called “No Gorge” with Violet! Last year, I also went back on a charity version of All Stars and got to show how my drag has evolved and really honed in on who Gottmik is.

Violet: itʼs been 10 years since my season of drag race, and I have done so much! From touring the world with the Drag Race official tour to working with one of my

biggest inspirations, Dita Von Teese. Iʼve toured with my own solo show “A Lot More Me” globally, Iʼve put out music with Allie X, and I had a residency at Crazy Horse in Paris. Iʼve walked in so many fashion shows, been in so many magazines, and fashion campaigns. I was on the cover of Vogue Czechoslovakia, and I got to attend the Met Gala alongside Jeremy Scott. And Iʼve even started to really get bookings as a DJ, which I really love. Iʼm so grateful, itʼs been a lot of work, but I truly want to make my Atlanta proud!

Now, you’re joining forces on this tour – The Knockout Tour – but you have been working together for a while now, right? What is it about

each other that makes collaboration so good?

Gottmik: We started working together a few years ago, because we both are extremely detail-oriented and have a really grand vision about what the drag industry could and should be! We started our podcast as a way for people to see us together, so we could work together in real life beyond just an online presence, and working so closely made me realize that both of us, no matter how different we may be sometimes, are unapologetically ourselves, and thatʼs really inspiring to be around. Itʼs really special to be able to have such amazing experiences and opportunities with your best friend!

Violet: Gottmik and I work so well together, because weʼre both perfectionists. We both think that drag deserves to be showcased at the highest caliber possible. We both challenge ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves in and out of drag, and thatʼs truly what family means.

So, the Knockout Tour: What’s the concept, how did you come up with it, and what can we expect to see?

Gottmik: Violet and I have different individual styles. Sheʼs more of a glamorous, burlesque, fetish doll, and Iʼm more into the punk rock, leather, and horror vibes, so we thought it would be a cool structure to have a show where our performances are a battle of Glam vs Rock! Each “round” is our solo numbers including aerial, burlesque, original music, dancers, and so much more – and then coming together for the big finale! Itʼs going to be really fun with a lot of crowd participation!

Violet: We are bringing the highest caliber of a drag show possible to all of these venues: live vocals, aerial, burlesque, fashion, stand-up, live instruments, lip-synch performances, costumes, and just over the top faggotry!

It sounds like your brand of high fashion, high glamour, and fierce queerness is being perfectly translated to the stage. And speaking of all those things, let’s talk about your powerful, new track “TKO” – how did that come about?

Gottmik: When we decided to go on tour together, a song with visuals was just the next natural step! We have both been

working on our own individual music for years, that we want to debut on this tour, so having a song together really was necessary for us, and it turned out better than I ever couldʼve imagined!

Violet: Yes, we wanted to create a song that was our styles combined, but also gave you that sort of jock jams athletic workout feel, that went really well with this sort of fight-boxing concept

Also, the video for this track is incredible. Tell us more about that.

Gottmik:  Thank you! We are very visual artists, so we were very excited for this video. Our aesthetics are so far from “sporty” so doing a boxing/workoutthemed video was really fun and different for us.

Violet: Everything we do is a labor of love, and this music video is no exception. We filmed in a 100° heat in Los Angeles and had some amazing extras help us out with really capturing our concept. Iʼm so glad you enjoyed it.

Going back to the tour. You will be visiting 50 cities on the course of three months. Did you help decide what cities you would be going to?

Gottmik: We wanted to hit as many cities in North America as we possibly could for the first leg, and of course we really wanted to hit our home towns (Atlanta and Phoenix) as well as our current home base (Los Angeles) – and from there we kept thinking of all the cities weʼve toured and had amazing memories at over the years, and the list kept growing. Every single city is so major to us ,and we are beyond excited to bring the show to everyone!

Violet: We just wanted to bring drag to as many places as possible. We truly love meeting the fans and giving people some escapism. The world is in such a crazy place right now that I think itʼs just fabulous to go and look at something fantastical for 90 minutes, and just forget about all your problems. Leave them at the door!

The tour is happening soon, but what’s next for you? Any exciting projects in the making? More music perhaps?

Gottmik: Iʼm dropping music every week up to the tour pretty much, which is super

exciting! I think the music journey will never end for me. As a visual artist, I love being able to perform my own music live. Next year is also very brand-focused for me personally: I announced I was dropping a makeup line, and after this tour, I will finally be able to be 100% committed to that dream of mine!

Violet:  I have so many exciting projects coming up. I canʼt divulge too much, but Iʼm really enjoying DJing in and out of drag. I love releasing music, and I always love working in fashion.

Violet, your hometown is Atlanta, why did you choose to start the tour here and what is special to you about the Atlanta drag scene?

Violet: Atlanta drag is some of the best in, dare I say, the world! It truly has some of the most iconic queer artists and queer history. I wanted to start the tour here because I really want to feel grounded on this journey, and I just know that thereʼs no place better to start than my hometown!

Anything youʼd like to add?

Gottmik: The knockout Tour is truly a dream come true, so thank you so much for your support, and if you havenʼt already

gotten your tickets, PLEASE GO GET THEM! Itʼs going to be really special!

Violet: We are both just so excited to truly bring this level of artistry to a proper stage and really kick off this next phase of our careers! We cannot wait to share it with you. It would mean the world to see you there.

Social Battery Dead by Sunset? Here’s Why!

You wake up excited, your pool party lewk is on point, and the day’s full of sun, friends, laughs, and maybe a few vodka sodas with a splash of LaCroix. But by sundown, you’re toast. Not just tired—drained. Like someone unplugged you from the wall. Sound familiar?

If your social battery tends to hit 0% by the end of the day, especially after big, loud gatherings like pool parties, it’s not just about being introverted or “getting older.” There’s real biology behind it. Your body’s internal systems, especially your nervous system, work hard to keep you feeling safe and socially engaged in stimulating environments. And just like a phone running too many apps at once, you can burn through your energy reserves without even realizing it.

Your Nervous System Is Working Overtime

Social events are fun, but they’re also demanding. Your brain is constantly scanning: Am I safe? Do I fit in? What’s that person thinking? Do I have sunscreen on my shoulders? That background vigilance is part of your sympathetic nervous system—your fight-or-flight response. And even at a chill queer pool party, it’s on.

The Introvert/Extrovert Myth

A lot of us chalk this up to being “an introvert,” but it’s more nuanced. You can love people and still get wiped out by a full day of social activity. That’s because social energy is a resource, not a personality trait. You recharge by giving your nervous system a break, not just by being alone.

And for queer folks, there can be an extra layer. Body image, gender expression, internalized stuff from childhood—it can all bubble up in settings where we’re seen. Even joyful, affirming spaces can activate a low-grade hum of nervous tension. It’s okay. You’re not broken. You’re human.

How to Recharge (Without Ghosting)

1. Build breaks into your day. Sneak off for a moment alone—get quiet, breathe, reset. Five minutes helps.

2. Drink water and eat real food. Fuel your body. Alcohol + sun = a recipe for a crash.

3. Find a soft place to land. After the party, dim the lights, skip the screens, and avoid late-night overcommitments.

4. Get cold or get grounded. Cold water, bare feet on the ground, or a few stretches can downshift your nervous system.

5. Be honest. If you’re spent, say so. You don’t have to “rally.” Stillness is a strength, too.

This system evolved to protect us. In ancient times, being part of the group was survival. Getting kicked out of the tribe could literally mean death. So our brains got really good at picking up on subtle cues—facial expressions, tone shifts, group dynamics. That hyper-awareness still lives in us today.

Throw in heat, alcohol, body image pressure, music, and the expectation to be “on,” and suddenly your nervous system is juggling flaming torches while walking a tightrope.

Sensory Overload Is Real

Pool parties hit all the senses: loud music, bright sun, wet bodies, splashing water, strong smells (chlorine, sunscreen, barbecue), and a blur of conversations. Even if you’re loving it, your brain is constantly processing.

This sensory load can push your body toward a state called allostatic overload—essentially, your stress response working beyond capacity. Over time, this leads to fatigue, irritability, digestive issues, and poor sleep. You’re not weak; you’re just overstimulated.

The truth is, we weren’t built for eight straight hours of small talk, sun exposure, and swimsuit scrutiny. We were made for moments of joy followed by moments of recovery. That’s the ancient rhythm: connection, then quiet. So next time your social battery hits empty by sunset, don’t judge it. Honor it. That’s your body asking for what it’s always needed—space to come home to itself.

Pride Journey

Nashville, Tennessee

A Vibrant Destination for LGBTQ Travelers

Nashville, Tennessee, affectionately known as “Music City,” has long been a hub of culture, creativity, and hospitality. From its historic roots in country music to its burgeoning culinary scene and inclusive nightlife, Nashville offers a dynamic array of experiences for every traveler. As a former resident, I can attest to Nashville being a welcoming and inclusive community for all.

For a modern and stylish stay, the Virgin Hotel Nashville delivers an unparalleled experience. Located in the heart of the Music Row neighborhood, this sleek and vibrant property blends Southern charm with contemporary design. Upon arrival, you’re greeted by warm hospitality and unique touches like the “Commons Club,” a lively social space where guests and locals mingle over creative cocktails and delicious bites.

The rooms, or “Chambers” as Virgin calls them, are thoughtfully designed with functional layouts and bold décor. The patented “Red Room” design ensures comfort and privacy, featuring sliding doors that separate the sleeping area from the dressing room. Don’t miss the rooftop pool and bar, which offers stunning views of the Nashville skyline and serves as a hotspot for both relaxation and vibrant nightlife. The property is located in a quieter section of town, away from the hustle and bustle of Lower Broadway’s honkytonks.

For dinner, head to my absolute favorite establishment in the city, Chauhan Ale & Masala House. Helmed by celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan, this Indian-fusion restaurant takes diners on an unforgettable gastronomic journey. Signature dishes like the “Lamb Keema Papadi Nachos” and “Tandoori Chicken Poutine” creatively blend Indian spices with Southern comfort food staples, resulting in an explosion of flavors. My partner and I shared the Kale Pakora and Gol Guppa shots for our starter. Both were so delicious and seasoned to perfection. For our entrée, we had farm vegetables prepared in a moilee, a Southern Indian coconut milk curry. As always, a trip to Chauhan was a masterclass in Indian cuisine making it a must-visit for food lovers.

Nashville’s LGBTQ nightlife is as vibrant and welcoming as the city itself, offering a variety of bars and clubs where everyone can feel at home. The Lipstick Lounge is a local favorite, known for its friendly atmosphere and diverse crowd. This inclusive bar hosts karaoke nights, trivia contests, and drag shows, making it a lively spot for entertainment and connection. It is also one of the last lesbian-owned bars in the country.

For a more dance-centric experience, check out Play Dance Bar, one of Nashville’s premier LGBTQ venues. With high-energy drag performances and themed dance

nights, Play attracts locals and visitors alike. The spacious dance floor and stellar lineup of DJs ensure a night of nonstop fun. Another notable spot is Tribe, a stylish lounge offering expertly crafted cocktails and an upscale vibe. The dazzling light displays and chic décor make Tribe a great place to kick off a night out or enjoy a more laid-back evening. You should also check out Canvas in East Nashville and Trax’s new location which is receiving rave reviews from the locals.

Beyond nightlife, Nashville’s LGBTQ community is supported by several organizations that work tirelessly to foster inclusion and advocacy. TN Pride Chamber connects LGBTQ professionals and allies, promoting economic growth and equal opportunities. Annual events like Nashville Pride and the HRC Dinner further showcase the city’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, drawing thousands of attendees for parades, live performances, and community celebrations.

A trip to Nashville wouldn’t be complete

without visiting The Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the ancient Greek temple, located in Centennial Park. Originally built in 1897 for Tennessee’s Centennial Exposition, this architectural marvel stands as a testament to the city’s dedication to art and history. Inside, you’ll find a 42-foot statue of Athena, adorned with gold leaf and surrounded by intricate details that capture the essence of Greek mythology. The Parthenon also houses an impressive art museum featuring works from American artists, making it a cultural hub for visitors. Whether you’re a history buff, an art enthusiast, or simply looking for a serene spot to enjoy Nashville’s natural beauty, The Parthenon is a must-see.

Nashville’s reputation as the epicenter of country music is celebrated at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. This iconic institution is home to a treasure trove of memorabilia, including costumes, instruments, and personal artifacts from some of the genre’s most legendary artists. Interactive exhibits allow visitors to explore the evolution of country music, from its roots to its modern-day influence. Highlights include the historic RCA Studio B, where legends like Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton recorded some of their greatest hits.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan of country music or new to the genre, the museum offers a fascinating look at the stories and sounds that define Nashville.

For a sophisticated yet intimate dining experience, head to Black Rabbit, a chic restaurant and bar located in the Printers Alley neighborhood. The dimly lit, speakeasy-inspired setting creates an ambiance of mystery and charm, perfect for a romantic evening or a night out with friends. We stopped by for brunch and decided to try their biscuits n gravy, cinnamon role and breakfast tacos. Every item on the menu is scratch made and you can taste it in the food. If one thing is for certain, you will not leave hungry.

Nashville seamlessly blends its rich history with modern innovation, creating a destination that appeals to a wide range of interests. Whether you’re indulging in world-class cuisine, exploring cultural landmarks, or immersing yourself in the city’s vibrant LGBTQ scene, there’s something for everyone in Music City. With its welcoming spirit and endless opportunities for adventure, Nashville invites you to create memories that will last a lifetime.
