He has gone to live with a couple who have an elderly Weimaraner and Hugo has fitted in nicely. There are still dogs waiting to be rescued. Bogus calls ... easy to fall for if you are caught off guard Up to now I have shied away from commenting on phone scams but after two recent incidents I feel I ought to. In the last 30 days I have twice been called in to help people after a company has called to tell the customer they have a serious security breach. The operator then pushes the customer to download some software to stop an outsider from taking control of their computer. Once the program is opened and a code typed in, they remotely control the computer. At this point the technique varied. The first scammer whizzed round the computer removing the Anti Virus program and deleting all the personal data (documents, music, photos etc). To retrieve the missing files they demanded a ransom payment to finish "repairing" the computer. The charge was over ÂŁ300.. The second scammer said it had found evidence of an intruder. The documents were untouched. The helpful operator loaded a form on the screen and invited the owner to fill in their card details for their ÂŁ600 fee. In neither case were the machines at risk before following the caller's instructions. Microsoft, security companies, your bank or the government will not call about a problem with your computer - but scammers will. Anyone who rings to say you have a problem is a liar!

Peacehaven Open Gardens Beautiful Peacehaven & Telscombe gardens will be opening to the public again this year to raise money for St Wilfreds Hospice, Eastbourne. This year the event is taking place on Saturday/Sunday 25�� & 26�� June, time 2 - 6 pm. Tickets are £4 each and covers all gardens on both days. All proceeds will be donated to St Wilfreds Hospice, Eastbourne and refreshments will be available. Last year £600 was raised which is a great achievement. Community rallies to help club

AFTER THE football club was broken into on the night of February 10, the local community rallied in support. Hundreds of pounds of soft drinks and sweets were stolen in the raid and significant damage was done by the intruders running into hundreds of pounds.
Karen Diton, Emma Denby, Martin Phillips and Steve Davis and Jez on behalf of the club’s youth section. On the field things have been difficult too with the team experiencing its worse run of results for years. There is still time left for the team to escape the drop but games are running out.
When the club’s social media correspondent Dan Palmer made public the break in, kind-hearted townspeople stepped forward to help and more than £200 was raised to help towards the repairs.
The home games for March are: Saturday March 12 v Tooting & Mitcham and Saturday 26�� v Corinthian Casuals. Both games kick-off at 3pm.
Dan Palmer said: “When I put this out I wasn’t expecting anything, I just wanted to let our community know what had happened. It really does restore your faith when people step forward like this.”

New Business Spotlight on The Teak Lounge There is a new Cafe - Bar in town that is now open. The Teak Lounge is opposite the Peace Park along the South Coast Road. Why not give it a try if you haven’t already… At the Teak Lounge they aim to be different, from the retro fit décor to fresh produce that is sourced locally from local suppliers and farms. It is dog friendly and you will always receive a warm welcome from the staff. The business is still developing, but they are working to open from 7.30 am for a lovely breakfast and fresh coffee, serving drinks and fresh food throughout the day. They are looking to open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with pop up menus, so dinner will never get boring. They also serve Craft Beers and Ciders and maybe even a few cheeky cocktails. They are looking to do some light evening entertainment and are inviting the local Community to make suggestions. They do a takeaway service of fresh sandwiches, cakes etc and are happy for groups to meet at the Lounge and just want to get involved with the community as a whole. CTLA Comes to the rescue
The Co-op in Newhaven Square is set to close on the 24th February and Community Transport charity, CTLA is urging vulnerable or isolated shoppers to contact them regarding their 4-Towns service which could offer access to other supermarkets including Sainsburys and Morrisons. The CTLA accessible minibuses are available for anyone who is unable to access normal public transport to go shopping and currently helps hundreds of passengers to continue to live independently with their daily social needs. The 4-Towns bus is run with support from the Town Councils of the Haven's area and the low cost return fares and friendly drivers makes it a lifeline for the community. CTLA is the only Community Transport charity of its kind in the Haven's area and has a Travel Club and group booking service on top of the dial-a-ride buses. Recently they have had their free 'home to doctor's surgery' pilot scheme extended, in partnership with the Havens NHS, for patients of surgeries in Newhaven and Peacehaven. Bridgeford’s Best Bites: Osteopathy Tips (Aether Bios Clinic) REPETITIVE STRAIN INJURY (RSI) A general term to describe aches and pains in muscles, nerves and tendons from overuse and repetitive movements. It commonly affects the upper body; neck and shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, hands and fingers. Often affects people working at computers, on an assembly line or gardening, carpentry, playing a musical instrument. Symptoms: Pain, dull or sharp ache, tenderness, stiffness, throbbing, numbness or tingling, weakness, cramp. Initially symptoms may only occur when carrying out the repetitive action that causes them, though unless treated it may become constant over time even when resting. Causes: Repetitive activities, carrying out a high intensity activity for a long time without rest, doing an activity involving force, such as lifting or carrying heavy objects, using vibrating equipment, poor posture or working in awkward positions. Stress and working in a cold environment are contributing factors. Diagnosis: There is no specific test for RSI; your doctor will ask about your symptoms and medical history and examine you. Other underlying medical conditions may need to be ruled out such as bursitis, carpel tunnel syndrome, Dupuytrens contracture, epicondylitis, ganglion cyst, rotator cuff syndrome, tendonitis, tenosynovitis, trigger finger, Raynaud’s phenomenon, writer’s cramp; an X-ray can test for osteoarthritis and blood tests to rule out inflammatory joint disease. Treatment: Short term use of anti-inflammatory pain medication (Ibuprofen) or pain receptor-blocking medication (some forms of anti-depressants) if symptoms are severe or interrupting sleep; cold packs, elastic supports, splints, physiotherapy, postural advice, stretching and strengthening exercises; steroid injections or surgery for specific conditions. Complementary therapies and relaxation techniques such as acupuncture, Alexander technique Pilates and yoga may be helpful though are not proven. Prevention: Maintain good posture at work, playing music and other repetitive hobbies and tasks. Learn to sit at your computer correctly, making sure your seat, keyboard, mouse and screen cause you minimal strain. Take regular breaks from repetitive or long tasks, learn relaxation techniques if you are stressed, include a healthy form of exercise in your daily routine. Osteopathic/Manual Management: Take a detailed case history to understand the nature of the problem and surrounding issues. Examine affected joint and all surrounding tissues; muscles, ligaments, nerves, fascia, etc., for movement, strength and functionality. Perform orthopaedic and neurological tests and determine the root cause. Examine the spine and assess nerve pathways to the affected joint. Treat to improve strength, functionality and movement and reduce tension, inflammation, pain and swelling. Specific taping or splinting may be required for stability and support. Postural and ergonomic advice as well as rehabilitation exercises. Treatment may include manipulation, deep soft tissue massage, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, fascial techniques, dry needling, etc. We are happy to advise you on your health matters and offer a free 15 minute joint and spinal check, without obligation.
