It’s always nice to hear from residents, so when this mother sent in photos taken by her 5 year old daughter, Elizabeth Milham I had to show them to you. ean Views Who is driving the car? ....are we losing control?

In my distant youth I devoured Science Fiction films as an insight to what the shiny 21�� Century (the reality has been a big let-down) may be like. In those Sci-Fi movies self-driving cars feature prominently. I have recently got my first taste; I have to say it is rather unnerving.

At this point I should say I have not bought a £103,000 Tesla. I have recently bought a more modest Kia. Like many new cars it has cameras and sensors but the clever thing is how it uses them.

The most controversial for me personally is the lane keeping system. The front camera scans for the kerb and the centre line or the left / right markings on a multi lane road. If the car senses the car is drifting over the line it will squeal, if ignored it will simply forcibly steer the car back to the centre.

There are three ways to take back control, use the indicator when changing lanes, dive into the menus to disable the system or give the wheel a sharp tug to let the car know it is a deliberate act. Initially I got spooked by driving a haunted car until I studied the handbook. Disabling through the menu only works for that journey, it resets next time.

I am slowly getting use to the car alerting me of threats, I was particularly impressed that when I began to overtake on the A27 that it warned me of a motorbike doing in excess of 100 mph when it was still a distant dot.

On balance the brave new world is not too bad, just a little bit unnerving sometimes. At least it does not talk to me….

(Aether Bios Clinic) Bridgeford’s Best Bites Osteopathy tips FASCIAL NETWORK Fascia has become a very popular topic recently, its true importance as a structural network having been largely ignored in the past. It consists mostly of collagen and elastin, forming a sheet of fibrous connective tissue that supports and separates structures throughout the entire body.

If you have ever worn a twisted stocking or sock, you know the feeling of how annoying this can be; you get used to it and ignore it, though it is still a relief when you remove the sock or stocking at the end of the day!

This is how it feels when fascia is tight of twisted, it can pull constantly, even though we learn to ignore it.

The late Biochemist, Candace Pert PhD wrote about the how the same neuro-transmitters that are responsible for laying down memories/emotions in the brain are also found in organs; this is a slightly different subject, though explains the power or releasing the fascia around organs, which is part of Visceral Osteopathy.

The body will gently release what it is ready to when it Fascia surrounds bones, muscles, muscle fibres, organs, is respectfully, gently given the opportunity; it is not a blood vessels and nerves. Other structures can be case of digging or prying into a person’s private life considered fascia; the meninges, the membrane against their will. The person may not even consciously around the brain (you will have heard of meningitis!) remember an issue or event and may just feel easier and the dura, 3 tough layers inside the spine (you will and more comfortable in themselves and their body have heard of epidural!), it is even thought to surround after the release. This is not about analysis paralysis, it the cell and penetrate inside the cell. HavensHealth PPG (Patient Participation Group) AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL PATIENTS OF THE HAVENS HEALTH SURGERY In October 2020, Rowe Avenue and Meridian Surgeries merged to become Havens Health Surgery. This was a totally necessary move to protect the medical services and the health of residents in Peacehaven, Telscombe Cliffs and surrounding areas.

Mergers are always fraught with problems, and Havens Health Surgery have been experiencing extraordinary difficulties with getting the telephone system and the associated on-line services working correctly, so that the patient has as pleasant an experience as possible.

Unfortunately Havens Health Surgery have been beset by a number of technical hitches, which has culminated in heavy investment in a brand new telephone/on-line system.

Unfortunately and rather embarrassingly, despite many assurances, Havens Health Surgery continue to experience hitches in the system which they know are upsetting and angering many of their patients. It is NOT their fault – they are at the mercy of the System suppliers and administrators, and I know that staff at the surgery are often working through the night to try to solve the various issues.

On top of this is also the fact that we are still in the grips of one of the worst pandemics in modern times, which has naturally made all of us very worried. Havens Health Surgery partners and employees are themselves not immune to Covid-19 and they have experienced extreme staff shortages (as have other surgeries locally) AND are still trying to get the new system working properly.

The Practice Manager, on behalf of Havens Health Surgery keeps the Chair of the PPG as up to date as she possibly can.

I am appealing to you all, as responsible patients of Havens Health Surgery, to be kind to the staff and partners. They are doing their utmost to deliver an excellent service to their patients and are certain that once all the technicalities have been solved, things will start to improve – for you, the patient, for the Doctors and Nurses, and for the staff (both frontline and back of office) of Havens Health Surgery – we will be great again!

Peacehaven and Telscombe Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group Protecting and linking up green spaces in Peacehaven and Telscombe A priority for the Peacehaven and Telscombe Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group (NPSG) is protecting and linking up the local public green spaces.

A report is currently being written by the NPSG that will give local parks and grounds official local green park status and protect them from housing and commercial development.

An Honour for Kempton House On Wednesday the 4 August Susan Taylor-Hill was presented with the Queens Award for voluntary service by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Sir Peter Field.

The award is given for long service to all the volunteers who have been involved at Kempton House Day Centre.

Susan accepted the award on behalf of kempton House and thanked everyone for their support and hard work. The Lord Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenant and mayors met the members and volunteers. (See pictures right) Kempton House is honoured to have received this and will continue their work in the community.

Saltdean Townswomen’s Guild Become part of the camaraderie and friendship that goes with being a member and connect with local women.
