Fish Island Village - March 2025

Heating and Hot Water

There has been ongoing issues with the supply of hot water and heating for many residents across Fish Island Village

The team would like to apologise for these problems and the significant impact it has had on those living in effected blocks The Mechanical Team are continuing to investigate the potential root cause of these problems, while providing temporary solutions where we can.

All residents should have received an update on Thursday 20 February on My Peabody explaining what happened, what we have done in in response and what would happen next

On Friday 21 February members of the Mechanical Team and contractor TBG were on site to carry out urgent works, which have resolved most issues experienced by residents. This involved installing a temporary plant room in the Courtyard.

This means that there are currently two boiler systems in FIV, which splits the delivery of heat and hot water to Phase 3 and maintains the supply to the remaining 14 blocks on Phase 1 and 2. Each system now has fewer homes to provide heating and hot water to, resulting in a more consistent supply to all blocks across Fish Island Village.

We are continuing to investigate the reasons for the failure and look at solutions to ensure the plant room can be robust in the future.

If you have any questions, please contact your Neighbourhood Manager, Selorm Arku-Korsi on 073417 85869 or alternatively, 0300 123 3456 (Peabody Contact Centre / out of hours).

New Concierge Number

The FIV team are working alongside the Peabody IT team and Kingdom to update the contact details for the Concierge. We are currently working to put a system in place to automatically connect calls to the old concierge number through to the new number.

However, while this merge takes place we ask that residents use the new concierge number to ensure that they are automatically put through to the concierge desk.

The new contact number for the concierge is: 07811 417220

OuterSpace Landscaping

OuterSpace have been appointed to work on planting and landscaping at FIV Over the last couple of months OuterSpace, Peabody and FIVRA have gotten together for a few walkabouts and exploratory meetings to discuss the types of landscaping work that you want to see around the estate.

On Monday 10 February OuterSpace joined us at Fish Island Village to present some of their ideas and visualisations to give a sample of what they envision for FIV.

You can view these plans at the concierge desk If you are also interested in joining these meetings, please contact your Chair of the resident association Jeremy Stibbe or your Neighbourhood Manager Selorm directly

Parcel Delivery: Keep it clear, keep it safe

Home deliveries are a way of life for many of us.

If you’re expecting a delivery, please make sure someone’s at home in your flat to receive it (or maybe ask a neighbour if they can help?), so that items aren’t left in communal areas.

We know it is not always possible to wait in for a parcel to be delivered, or that it might not arrive when you expect it too.

We also ask that residents add a note, where there is an option to, directing couriers to please deliver to the concierge if you are not at home. Most major delivery services, including Amazon and Royal Mail, have options to set this up for your address

Post should not be delivered to common and communal areas

What do you mean by communal area?

We’re talking about any area within the building that’s outside your front-door, such as corridors, walkways, stairwells, foyers and riser cupboards

Why is it a problem?

Although it may seem convenient to have things delivered and left outside your home, they:

are a fire risk

obstruct the emergency services from getting inside the building quickly

are a trip hazard, which is particularly dangerous if you or your neighbours need to get out quickly in an emergency.

As well as posing a fire hazard and health and safety risk, these places are not secure locations for your items

Thanks for keeping everyone in your building safe. You can find out more tips on keeping communal areas and other parts of your home safe at www.peabody.org.uk/fire-safety.

Bollards come to FIV

Residents will have noticed that the long-awaited solid oak bollards, which were selected in consultation with FIVRA, have now been installed. As of time of writing, 95% of the bollards are now in place.

Unfortunately, difficulties aroused during installation near Lanterna Building Due to lack of depth in pavement, an alternative solution is required for a fully functional removable bollard.

In order to provide ease of access for emergency services, one has been removed in the interim.

We are continuing discussions with our contractor to expedite completion

Fish Island Village is taking part in a pilot recycling initiative run by Tower Hamlets council, which aims to improve issues with bulk recycling.

There are new bins in place which are intended to be used for materials you would usually find in your cupboard, to help with disposing of these items correctly.

If you are unsure what you can and can’t recycle, Tower Hamlets Council has a useful A-Z recycling guide.
