On behalf of Ava and myself, I would like to welcome everyone to our 3rd annual online bull sale.

Thank you for taking the time to view the sale catalogue and considering our genetics for your breeding programs. I would like to also thank all our valued friends and customers for the tremendous support you have given us over the years, we appreciate it very much. Our cowherd is managed in the same fashion as many of your herds. The cows are summered and calve on native grass. In this range calving environment it is vital the cowherd possess strong maternal traits of mothering ability, sound teat and udder quality along with the function to calve unattended. We have utilized an extensive A.I. program for many years and as such have been able to access proven genetics. This has allowed us to select sires that can produce calves that have the get up and go to nurse quickly, shorten gestation length and improve dispositions. The growth EPDs of these sires will ensure they also possess the needed performance required by our customers to be rewarded for all their hard work on sale day. More pounds with less trouble!

In developing the bulls, we use a slow and steady approach. They are backgrounded as yearlings on a high roughage ration, summered on grass and hand fed pellets beginning in August. They are then brought home in October to be further developed. They are fed twice a day a 14% protein high fiber bull developer pellet that contains optimum levels of chelated minerals along with free choice grass or green feed hay. The bulls have access to a 15-acre paddock for winter exercise so that they are able to perform as athletes come breeding season.

WELCOME TO THE 3RD ANNUAL WHITE MEADOW CHAROLAIS BULL SALE.

The offering again this year has bulls that will fit into the most discriminating purebred or commercial operations. These bulls with extra age will go out and cover a lot of cows and last year we sold bulls into some top breeder’s programs and to many repeat commercial customers.

Top to bottom this is a very solid set of coming two-year old and long yearling bulls that are quiet, sound and consistent. Michael has two calving periods with some calving in May and June and then the fall program calving in September and October. They calve on grass, just like many of you do. He does this to spread the work load out as he basically is a one-man operation and has used an extensive AI program for years. Again, this year there are many ½ and ¾ brothers on offer with the proven LT Sundance bull in many of the pedigrees. This year there are his first sons off LT Nationwide and they are impressive. Calving ease, easy doing and thick. The whole program has great bred in calving ease but still enough genetic punch to give you the market topping calves. Touring the operation this summer I found a sound, good uddered set of females that raise their calves on their own.

The bulls will be available for viewing at the farm anytime leading up to the end of the sale. Come and view the bulls, their dams and the program in a relaxed atmosphere and get to know Michael if you have not met him before. He has been involved in the Charolais breed all his life and is a real historian on the breed and pedigrees.

The bulls are selling through the DLMS Farmgate Timed Online Auction. Online bidding will open on April 11th and close at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12th with a racehorse style close with extending bidding time. If you have questions or concerns with this system of selling, give us a call and we can help you out. The farm is located in between Souris and Pipestone, just west of what used to be the town of Deleau. They are just a mile north of Hwy #2 with a sign at the corner.

The buckskin and silver calves are the industry standard now and have been consistently in demand and topping the markets across the country. Don’t pass up the added dollars from crossbreeding with identifiable Charolais genetics and colour.

HERD HEALTH AND FERTILITY

Sale bulls have been treated twice for parasites with Ivomec and Clean-up, vaccinated with Bovashield FP 5 and will receive two doses of Fusogard for foot rot prevention. Breeding females receive CattleMaster Gold FP 5. Calves are given Inforce 3 at birth and Covexin 8.

SEMEN TEST AND WEIGHTS

All bulls will be examined, scrotal measured, semen tested and palpated by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale. Scrotal measurements and current weights will be available.

INSURANCE

1.Visit https://farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/ REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions, simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.

2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it, and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you, but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again, or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.

4. At closing time of the sale, the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minutes, if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. When no bidding occurs for 5 minutes, the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Within 24 hours of the sale close, the Sale Manager will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/pick up of your lot.

WHAT IS A RACEHORSE STYLE CLOSE?

Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

HOW EXTENDED BIDDING WORKS

When we get to the close out end time, the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 minutes on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and gives all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements made sale day will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

DELIVERY: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

ACCIDENTS: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, or seller assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.

BY LIVESTOCK is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.
