The continuous facades of the lobby and the walls of the interior courtyard emphasize the philosophy of the project, which is limiting the minimum view of the exterior and concentrating attention on the interior space; simultaneously creating permanent osmosis between the offices, internal passages and the garden. The office complex is designed with four floors for a total surface area of 3,600 m2: the ground floor is dedicated to meeting spaces, with the reception hall, conference room, auditorium and exhibition hall. The shape of the building follows the natural floor plan of the site, while the external covering provides the aesthetic impact. The architectural design is manifested through the obscurity of the spaces that emerge from the surrounding pool of water, which connect to the exterior only through horizontal cuts, which in the nocturnal hours are transformed into blue misty streaks visible from the highway.

Aluminium, a contemporary expression
The south facing entry filters the light through shade creating elements formed by large aluminium blades; the light enters the entrance in an even manner, contributing to the dematerialization of the elements, and creating the lightweight effect that the project was designed to obtain. The architectural choices for the structural facades and exterior metallic covering exalt the technological aspect of a building that houses a domotics think-tank. Aluminium was also used for the internal door and window fitting, with various finishes, to emphasize the "hi-tech" atmosphere of the entire complex. Innovative motorized systems were applied singularly to the door and window frames that move outwards autonomously for each office towards the internal courtyard, with height adjustable fabric sun shades.
Why aluminium A conscious choice, which designers explain as follows: "Aluminium represents one of the most significant materials in the contemporary era; it is light but resistant, easy to work with and above all guarantees functionality over time within the project. In our case, the selection of covering in aluminium panels was based on its durability, imagining the appearance of the building in the distant future. The finish, dimensions, colours of the panels, door and window fittings and sun shades are examples of the multiple possibilities that are available to designers today. The material and its components in combination with the technologies available today guarantee the implementation of contemporary architectural projects with only minimal limits on design creativity."

The Studio was founded in 1978 and is focused mainly on residential, commercial and office building projects, building renovations and territorial planning. The Studio is located in Triveneto and since 2003, with the creation of the partner companies, AST International and AST America, it expanded its range of activities to countries in Europe and beyond. CommerCial and offiCe Complex The complex is situated near the centre of Pordenone, and is composed of 4 above ground floors destined to house offices and shops. It covers a surface area of 2,500 m2 and has a total volume of approximately 9,000 m3. The complex is part of a much wider urbanization project designed by the same professionals and destined for the most part as residential areas. The position of the building along an important thruway towards the centre of Pordenone
definitely influenced the project. The visual impact is strong and immediate thanks to the large angular element with a rounded shape, the exalted verticality of the load bearing structures, the marked diversification and characterization of the door and window fittings, the sharply projecting coverings and chromatic variations are the defining elements from the interior of the building.

Aluminium, original and innovative
The entire building was covered in bi-chromatic aluminium panels, according to a design based on striking horizontal sections, which also creates the subsequent photometric partitioning. The insulated door and window fittings in aluminium support low emissivity glass panels that guarantee natural light, acoustic insulation and the safety levels necessary for the activities that take place within the building. Aluminium was also used in the ceilings, gutters and other various finishes, demonstrating the capacity of this material to adapt to a wide range of uses. Only a highly developed material with extreme flexibility and adaptability, lightweight and highly resistant, could produce such an original and innovative final result. A guarantee of excellent stability and enduring aesthetic features over time, aluminium is definitely the star of the design of the entire complex.
Why aluminium Designers have chosen aluminium for the following reasons: • the possibility to work with it using geometric mesh to define and create patterns in the building proportions; • the wide range of colours with the possibility to create especially effective chromatic combinations; • the ability to create chiaroscuro and special illuminating effects thanks to the daylight and night lighting, creating a continuous "skin changing" appearance; • easy combining with other materials, also natural materials, producing pleasant visual effects. In the specific case, all of this is combined with the use of aluminium in order to enhance the "modernity" of a building destined for office and commercial use.

New FRIULI VeNeZIA GIULIA heAdqUARteRs This project regards the completion of the regional headquarters of the Civil Defence Service, with the construction of a building destined to become the Operating Headquarters for the Friuli Venezia Giulia region connected by a tunnel to the historic headquarters. In particular, the new Operating Headquarters will house the regional meeting space for multiple emergency forces and the regional digital network management room for emergency communications. The ideas of security, strength, protection, solidity and innovation were developed through specific architectural, structural
and technological choices, all interpreted without compromise. The lines of the building are stark and decisive: a square floor plan (25x25m): developed vertically on four above ground floors for a height of 21,67m, the building is designed with four faces perfectly facing north, south, east and west. Structurally speaking, the building has an elevated foundation and septums in reinforced concrete 0.45m thick. The building's appearance is characterized by the presence of sun shades in aluminium between the panels protecting the building covering and a system of solar energy panels, aligned in a geometrical pattern.

Aluminium, a sign of our times
The project includes application of aluminium to answer diverse types of demands, not only aesthetic but also functional and protective requirements. The covering on the facades in the areas of the ground floor and the area between the second floor and the roof is created using composite aluminium sheets with two 0.5mm thick sheets and an inner layer of polyethylene of 2.5mm. The areas with windows are composed of Hi-Bond type ceilings, while the solar energy panels are installed on a support structure with Metra Poliedra Sky cross beams. All door and window fittings were created with insulated aluminium profiles designed in compliance with recent European standards governing heat and acoustic insulation.
Why aluminium A selection that the designers explain as follows: “The preference for aluminium as a material is strictly connected to the choice of solar energy; resulting in a technological combination of solar energy panels, aluminium panels and sun shades, and glass surfaces. The characteristics of the material, like its light weight, workability and the reduced deformation in the panels permit constructing very large facade coverings without effecting the static design of the existing structure. At the same time, aluminium creates refined chromatic effects that make the most of the desired perspective effect of the project, which would otherwise be penalized by the cube shaped structure. Generally speaking, the use of aluminium, from a functional and architectural point of view, permits creating forms, coverings or compositions and integrations with other materials, which harmonize perfectly with environments
where "technology" prevails, or minimalist and contemporary environments. Aluminium is therefore a sign of our times".

For newly constructed buildings and buildings under renovation, market value also depends on Energetic Certification (Decree 192/05 and 311/06). It is for this reason that the Pavarin Technical Department places the utmost attention on checking the transmittance values established by law, which must also be respected in the case of installation of external barriers like sun shades, curtains or darkening systems. Among the most effective solutions, our new insulated profiles, door and window frames with reinforced polyamide strips, "open joint" systems with seals variable fit depending on wind pressure (the higher the wind pressure, the stronger the adhesion of the seal to the profile). Reduction of waste, better system thermal efficiency, and above all better living comfort are guaranteed by components in aluminium selected by Pavarin.
The Pavarin specialized technicians integrate solar energy technology into aluminium systems, and have selected the most efficient and innovative solutions to satisfy the energy, architectural and environmental demands required by designers and architects. The integrated aluminium-solar energy system offer multiple advantages that render a building autonomous from an energy standpoint: the simplicity of use, maintenance reduced to a minimum, modularity and above all technology which can be perfectly integrated with all types of construction. Thanks to new technologies, it is now possible to create panels using a solar matrix installed between two glass panels, ideal for the most evolved architectural applications (continuous facades, coverings and sun shades). A single constructive principle permits use in numerous types of sun shades, including fixed, adjustable, sliding, with horizontal and vertical blades, with the possibility to incorporate blades in micro-perforated sheets, in normal glass or with solar energy panels. nATuRAl InTeGRATIOn OF mAn AnD THe enVIROnmenT Vertical gardens: nature creates drama in architecture. With the discovery of the work of Patrick Blanc (the noted creator of vertical gardens and plant cultivation systems without soil), the Vertical Garden trend has also arrived in Italy and exploded onto the scene with the desire to cover interior and exterior walls with grass, flowers and plants. "Green" facades guarantee immediate aesthetic impact, with significant contribution to noise abatement and thermal insulation of the building. Aluminium, because of its qualities of durability, resistance to humidity, mud and bacteria, and reduced maintenance requirements, is the material used for the most renowned vertical garden structures. A brand new challenge, highly technological, for the architecture of our cities, where plant life can take back spaces stolen by cement.
