Topiary is defined as the practice of clipping shrubs or trees into ornamental shapes. The choice of topiary as a symbol is arbitrary but not entirely random; Topiary balls are used as a decoration for the facade of houses and clubs around Folkestone. They are an invitation to enter a private place.
