FROM: maslip@yahoo.com TO: sussexuniv@yahoo.com SUBJECT: Malina Petrache – Pre-master programme

To whom it may concern, I am writing to apply for the Pre-master programme for English students you advertised on the internet recently. I feel I would be suitable for a grant for several reasons. Firstly, I possess a high-level achievement in learning English and I passed the CAE exam with flying colours two months ago. Besides, I am a persevering and resilient person, used to meeting tight deadlines. I would like to mention that I was up to scratch in only one year, although the C1 Advanced course covers a lot of ground. In addition to all this, having worked as a communicator for many years, I may contribute to an excellent learning environment. Fortunately, I am an extrovert and I easily succeed at establishing meaningful connections with my classmates. I will attend a Master of Arts in English literature hopefully next year. I am now keen on upgrading my English language to an excellent level, which will enable me to study in a highly academic environment. Should you need any further information, please find my CV attached. I am available for an interview at any time you consider convenient. Yours faithfully, Malina Petrache

FROM: nerea.villaverde@gmail.com TO: university.surrey@univerities.com SUBJECT: Pre-Masters course Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to apply for a grant to study a Pre-Masters course at your University, as advertised on your webpage. I feel I would be extremely suitable for the grant for several reasons. Firstly, I am an English undergraduate at the University of Santiago and I have passed my exams with flying-colours. Secondly, I went on an exchange to the University of Oxford, which allowed me to improve my communication skills in English, so I think my spoken English is up to scratch. In addition to this, I consider myself a consistent student because I am always immersed in learning and improving my English. Apart from that, I am particularly interested in your programme because, eventually, I would like to do an MA in English literature and, basically, I believe that your scheme will provide me with the necessary skills to succeed at my master degree. I would be happy to provide proof of my academic qualifications, should you require them. Please, do not hesitate to contact me, should you require any further information. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours faithfully, Nerea Villaverde.

Email………………………. Subject: Applicantion Grant for Pre-Master To whom it may concern, My name is XXX and I am contacting you after having read the last bulletin of the University of Surrey, where grants are offered to study a pre-master on English literature. Needless to say, I am highly interested in English literature. Shakespeare has always been a must in my daily reading. Furthermore, classical literature has called my attention for its countless excellent writers and amazing richness of themes. The grant could enlarge my knowledge in that appealing field. Luckily, I have got a degree on the subject. Additionally, I have recently passed a state exam with flying colours. All in all, that makes me an eligible aspirant. As this course covers a lot of ground, I hope to increase knowledge and experience, and, what is more, to study under the direction of your remarkably prestigious university. It is my purpose to continue my academic training with the advertised master. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let me know. Respectfully, Signed: XXX.

From: rocioabouza@hotmail.com To: university.surrey@hotmail.com Subject: Pre-masters course Dear Sir or Madam, I would like to apply for a grant to study a Pre-masters course at the university of Surrey, which I saw advertised on your website. I consider myself an extremely perfect candidate for the grant for different reasons. Firstly, I have recently graduated in English from the University of Vigo and I have also completed an advanced level course granted by EOI Vigo. Secondly, I took part in an incredibly profitable exchange programme in Canada. This exchange programme I attended covered a lot of ground but I could catch on very quickly. Fortunately, my level of spoken and written English is up to scratch. I am seriously interested in your Pre- masters course because I am going to do a Master of Arts in English literature straightaway. Basically, I need to brush up my skills and improve in leaps and bounds. For these reasons, your scheme is the go-to option to achieve my own key goals. I would be grateful if you could consider my application. I am available for an interview, should you need some further information about me. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Rocío Pérez.

To: university.surrey@hotmail.com Subject: Pre-masters course Dear Sir or Madam, I have read about your Pre-masters program for English students and I would like to apply for it. I am majoring in English. Eventually, I have planned to do a Master in English literature since I want to be an editor. First of all, I would like to claim why I should be accepted: My professors always comment on how passionate I am. I am extremely hard-working as well as responsible. In addition, I learn if I enjoy the topic, which is the case Also, I lived some years alone in Birmingham, so I have learnt the hard way that if you really want something, you have to fight on your own. Basically, I am interested because I have always had great language skills. But English, England and its literature have taken my heart since the moment I heard about them. Furthermore, I really want to improve all my aptitudes as well as getting more knowledge and I think this Pre-master would help me with it. I would be incredibly thrilled if you gave me this opportunity. Sincerely yours, AloiaÂ
