Grandes resultados Great results Estimados pasajeros: Una vez más, quiero compartir con ustedes los grandes avances que venimos logrando en nuestra línea aérea de bandera. Partiendo desde nuestra misión de conectar a los argentinos y contribuir a la integración y al desarrollo económico y social del país, promoviendo el territorio nacional como destino turístico, cultural y de negocios, venimos aplicando el Plan de Negocios quinquenal que comenzó en 2010. Este Plan, que surge luego de un análisis minucioso sobre la situación crítica en la que se encontraba la Compañía al momento de su recuperación por parte del Estado nacional, cuenta con tres ejes centrales que consisten, en primer lugar, en crecer en la operación. Esto es volar más, con más frecuencias, a más destinos. En segundo lugar, hacer más eficiente la estructura de costos, lo que se traduce en compensar la gran estructura con pocos vuelos que había en 2008, absorbiendo los costos fijos y mejorando la productividad; y por último, mejorar el servicio para los pasajeros. De esta manera buscamos generar un círculo virtuoso para revertir el estado de deterioro en el que encontramos la Compañía luego de las sucesivas gestiones privadas: volar más y mejor, para lograr más conectividad y eficiencia. Al diseñar el Plan de Negocios elegimos no adoptar medidas drásticas de achicamiento y recorte que, naturalmente, afectarían las fuentes de trabajo de más de 11.000 empleados que forman parte del grupo empresarial y achicaría la cantidad de vuelos, conspirando contra el principal objetivo de una aerolínea de bandera: la conectividad. Por el contrario, nuestra apuesta consistió en hacer crecer la operación para que también aumenten los ingresos, y así estar cada vez más cerca de lograr una Aerolíneas Argentinas sustentable que no requiera la asistencia del Estado nacional. En esta dirección venimos trabajando desde entonces, y hemos logrado resultados alentadores que nos llenan de orgullo y que quiero compartir con ustedes. En primer lugar, las frecuencias aumentaron el 88% (la cantidad de vuelos realizados) en comparación con las que se realizaron en 2008, año en el que se reestatizó la Compañía; pasamos de 24.000 frecuencias anuales a 46.000. Además de intensificar las rutas que contaban con pocas frecuencias, cambiamos la forma de conectar a los argentinos, creando una red interna sin precedentes a partir de corredores federales que unen distintas ciudades del país sin pasar por Buenos Aires, y un Corredor Petrolero que beneficia a esta gran industria que se desarrolla en nuestro país. Son en total 20 rutas que unen ciudades del interior sin pasar por Buenos Aires. Por otra parte, hemos creado nuevos destinos como Termas de Río Hondo, y a partir de marzo de 2014 retomaremos la ruta hacia Paraná, que no se volaba desde 1988. De esta manera, son 35 los destinos federales y quedarán unidas todas las provincias de nuestro país.

Dear passengers: Once again, I want to share with all of you, the great progress we have made in our flagship airline. Starting out from our mission to connect Argentine people and contribute to the country’s integration, as well as its economic and social development, promoting the national territory as a tourist, cultural and business destination, we have implemented a five-year Business Plan which started in 2010. This Plan, which came about after a painstaking analysis of the critical situation the Company found itself at the time of its recovery by the national government, has three central points. Firstly: operational growth. This means flying more, with more frequencies, and to more destinations. Secondly: to make the cost structure more efficient, with which to compensate for the few flights consequent of the situation in 2008, thus absorbing the fixed costs and improving productivity. Finally, to improve the service offered to our passengers. In this way, we seek to generate a virtuous circle that will reverse the state of deterioration in which the company was found after the successive private administrations: flying more and better, to achieve connectivity and efficiency. When drawing up the business plan, we chose not to adopt the drastic measures of scaling down and cutting back, which would have naturally affected the sources of income of more than 11,000 employees, who form part of the Company Group and would have reduced the number of flights conspiring against the main goal of a flagship airline: connectivity. On the contrary, our aim consisted of expanding the operation so that revenue would also be increased, and thus get ever closer to achieving a sustainable Aerolíneas Argentinas, that does not need assistance from the national government. We have been working towards this ever since then, and have achieved encouraging results that fill us with pride, and which I want to share with all of you. Firstly, frequencies (the number of flights made) increased by 88% compared with those made in 2008, the year in which the Company returned to state ownership; we went from 24,000 flights a year to 46,000. As well as intensifying the routes that had fewer flights, we have changed the way Argentine people are connected by creating an unprecedented internal network, which starts out from Federal Corridors that link different cities in the country without having to pass through Buenos Aires, and an Oil Corridor that benefits this great industry being carried out in our country. A total of 20 routes link cities in the provinces without passing through Buenos Aires. On the other hand, we have created new destinations like Termas de Río Hondo, and as from March 2014, we will resume the route to Paraná, which has not been flown since 1988. In this way, there are now 35 federal destinations available and all the country's provinces are soon to be interconnected.

También logramos grandes avances en la conectividad con Sudamérica, apostando al mejor posicionamiento de nuestro país en la región. Fundamentalmente, intensificamos los vuelos a Brasil, desde donde recibimos la mayor cantidad de turistas. Inauguramos vuelos directos a Brasilia y Belo Horizonte y próximamente también a Curitiba. Este crecimiento en las frecuencias fue posible gracias a la renovación de la flota, que nos permitió pasar de 26 aviones operativos que tenía la Compañía en 2008 a que cerremos 2013 con 63 aeronaves. Redujimos la edad promedio de la flota de 20 años a 7,5 y pasamos de 7 familias de aviones a tan sólo 3. En septiembre recibimos el primero de cuatro Airbus A330/200 que incorporamos para las rutas de largo alcance como Nueva York, otra recuperación histórica que comienza a volar a partir del 15 de diciembre. De la misma manera, estas inversiones –junto con la actualización de los sistemas informáticos, las acciones en capacitación, incorporaciones de equipos para el servicio de rampa y para el mantenimiento técnico de los aviones, entre otras muchas mejoras en las que viene invirtiendo el Estado en cada sector de la Compañía– nos han permitido ampliar el mercado y transportar, así, el 57% más de pasajeros que en 2008. Cerramos 2012 transportando 7.003.448 pasajeros y las proyecciones nos indican que terminaremos 2013 con 8,5 millones de pasajeros transportados. Día a día son más los pasajeros que nos eligen, porque es cada vez mayor y mejor el servicio que brindamos. Hemos tenido un aumento del 61% de horas voladas y los índices de puntualidad son cada vez mejores: en lo que va de este 2013 hemos mejorado el 8% la puntualidad respecto del año anterior. Con un mejor servicio, cada vez más pasajeros nos recomiendan y los índices de satisfacción son también cada vez mayores. Por eso los invito a disfrutar ustedes mismos la experiencia de viajar por nuestra línea aérea de bandera y ver con sus propios ojos estos avances que les menciono. Todavía falta mucho por hacer, pero quiero dejarles la tranquilidad a todos los argentinos y a nuestros pasajeros del exterior de que estamos trabajando con un equipo de profesionales y expertos en esta industria para conseguir los mejores resultados. Nuestro objetivo es claro y cada día estamos más cerca de la meta de ver a nuestra línea aérea de bandera Alta en el Cielo.

We have also achieved great advances in connectivity with the rest of South America, aiming at better positioning our country in the region. Fundamentally, we have intensified the flights to Brazil, from where we receive the largest number of tourists. We have unveiled direct flights to Brasilia and Belo Horizonte, and soon to Curitiba. This growth in flight frequencies was possible thanks to the renewal of the fleet, which has enabled us to go from 26 planes in operation, which the company had in 2008, to ending 2013 with 63 aircraft. We closed 2012 carrying 7,003,448 passengers and forecasts show that we will end 2013 with 8.5 million passengers transported. Day by day, more passengers choose us because the service we provide is bigger and better. We have had a 61% increase in hours flown and the punctuality rates are ever better: thus far in 2013 we have improved punctuality by 8% compared with the previous year. With a better service, more and more passengers recommend us and the satisfaction rates are ever higher. So I invite you to enjoy the experience of traveling with our flagship airline and seeing the progress I have mentioned for yourselves. El Dr. Mariano Recalde y el Gobernador Sergio Urribarri anunciaron la ruta Buenos Aires-Paraná a partir del 1º de marzo de 2014. Marcando otro hito más en los grandes logros de nuestra línea aérea de bandera, la recuperación de este destino tras 25 años de interrupción del servicio se traduce en el compromiso asumido de garantizar la conectividad de los argentinos. Llegó el primer Airbus A-330 para los vuelos internacionales The first Airbus A-330 has arrived for international flights

Cumpliendo con el programa de renovación, modernización y homogeneización de flota establecido en el Plan de Negocios 2010-2014, en los primeros días de septiembre recibimos el primer Airbus A-330/200, que llegó al país para incorporarse a la flota de fuselaje ancho. El nuevo A-330 se suma a la familia de los Airbus A-340, que actualmente opera las rutas a Europa, Estados Unidos y Oceanía, y es el primero de los cuatro de este tipo que se incorporarán a la flota en el segundo semestre de este año. Por otra parte, antes de finalizar el año también se sumarán dos

Por primera vez, SkyTeam se hizo presente en la Feria Internacional de Turismo de Buenos Aires, la feria más importante de la industria en la región sudamericana. Junto al stand de Aerolíneas Argentinas, SkyTeam se presentó acompañada por las líneas aéreas de la alianza que operan en el país. Allí se brindó al público información acerca de los principales productos de SkyTeam, como SkyPriority y Reuniones Globales, entre otros.

For the first time, SkyTeam was present at the International Tourism Fair in Buenos Aires, the industry’s most important fair in the South American region. Next to the Aerolíneas Argentinas stand, SkyTeam was present and accompanied by the alliance’s airlines operating in the country. There, the public was provided with information about the main SkyTeam products, like SkyPriority and Global Meetings, amongst others.

Allí se debatieron temáticas relacionadas con las normas internacionales de seguridad, las regulaciones de la OACI (Organización de Aviación Civil Internacional) y de EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency). En esta oportunidad participaron representantes de KLM, Delta, Air France, Air Europa, Aeroméxico, China Eastern, SPA Safety Chair y Alitalia.

Aerolíneas Argentinas hosted the Safety Security Quality Functional Executive (SSQFEM) Meeting between SkyTeam members. These gatherings are aimed at standardizing the safety performance indicators so as to achieve the best practices in the subject. They dealt with issues related to the international security standards, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations. On this occasion, representatives from KLM, Delta, Air France, Air Europa, AeroMéxico, China Eastern, SPA Safety Chair and Alitalia took part.

La mirada de Botero / Botero’s view La muestra Botero, dibujos sobre tela y papel se propone acercar la obra del artista colombiano –que nació en Medellín en 1932–, un mundo propio construido a partir del retrato de las costumbres y los personajes de su lugar, ámbito social y cultural. La exposición reúne 50 obras de la colección personal del artista, realizadas entre 1973 y 2011. Se trata de dibujos sobre papel y tela, con técnicas en acuarela, tinta, lápiz y sanguina, que abordan temas como los toreros, el circo, las mujeres y la violencia. Botero interpreta características del mundo latinoamericano y dibuja personajes volumétricos, gordos, exultantes, que se repiten cuadro a cuadro.

The exhibit Botero, drawings on canvas and paper sets out to show the work of the Colombian artist — who was born in Medellín in 1932 —, his own world built on the basis of portraying the customs and characters of his place, social and cultural environment. The exhibit brings together 50 works from the artist’s personal collection, done between 1973 and 2011. They are drawings on paper and canvas, with techniques in watercolor, ink, pencil and red chalk, tackling subjects like bullfighters, the circus, women and violence. Botero interprets characteristics from the Latin American world and draws volumetric, fat, jovial characters, which are repeated from picture to picture.

Lugar de cacería, chacu. Así llamaban a estas tierras sus primeros pobladores, los qom. Tierra de quebracho, ese árbol de madera dura y resistente al golpe del metal, Chaco es una de las provincias menos explotadas en cuanto destino turístico nacional, una joya verde a descubrir para quien se le anime.

Tierra adentro En el centro del Chaco, a 115 kilómetros de la capital, el Parque Nacional Chaco combina el desborde de la selva misionera con lo arisco del monte. Quince mil hectáreas que alguna vez fueron explotadas (y expoliadas) por la tristemente célebre La Forestal, la empresa de capitales británicos productora de tanino que le pagaba a sus obreros con vales que sólo podían usar en sus propios almacenes. El parque fue creado en 1954 y desde entonces la vegetación y la fauna se han ido recuperando. Hoy la selva de ribera y el monte de quebrachales, esteros, cañadas, sabanas y lagunas se funden para formar lo que desde el cielo se ve como una gran manta verde cruzada por cursos de agua donde viven sábalos, doradillos, tarariras y hasta pirañas, entre otras especies. Cuando la selva se convierte en monte, los árboles se vuelven más altos y fuertes. Allí mandan el quebracho 2

Hunting place, chacu: that is the name the original inhabitants, the Qom, gave to these lands. Land of the quebracho [break-axe], that tree whose wood is so hard and resistant to the blow of metal, Chaco is one of the least exploited provinces as a national tourist destination: a green gem waiting to be discovered by those who are up for it.

Deep in the countryside In the center of Chaco, some 115 kilometers from the provincial capital, the Chaco National Park combines the exuberant Misiones jungle with rugged scrubland. 15,000 hectares that were once exploited (and dispossessed) by the sadly celebrated company La Forestal, set up with British capital to produce tannin, which used to pay its workers with vouchers that could only be used in their own stores. The park was created in 1954 and since then,

Actualmente, el Ministerio de Turismo de la Nación, el gobierno de Chaco y distintas organizaciones ambientalistas –que hace más de veinte años trabajan en la zona– están desarrollando el proyecto para convertirla en parque nacional. ¿La idea? Situated in the valley formed by the Huatanay River in the Central Andes, Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire and an important city during the colonial era; thanks to its position on the route between Buenos Aires and Lima. Helena Distefano La esencia del caos The essence of chaos En la obra de Helena Distefano se condensa una forma muy particular de hacer y comprender el arte: el esencialismo. Este movimiento pictórico fundado por Heriberto Zorrilla en 1984, concibe a un artista que trabaja sin proyecto previo entregándose al devenir de un proceso creativo, lejos de los límites y los dogmatismos. El resultado de esta libertad ante la tela puede rastrearse en la obra completa de Distefano y verse del 25 de septiembre al 24 de octubre en la Galería De Santi. “La medida del imponderable”, un oxímoron que tiene mucho que ver con los postulados de este movimiento del que ella también se siente madre, es el nombre de la muestra que reúne sus últimos cuadros: óleos y también técnicas mixtas con carbonilla y pasteles. Además de construir día a día su obra –por la que ha recibido numerosos premios–, Distefano es una apasionada por la enseñanza del arte: brinda conferencias y es coautora de diversos títulos sobre pintura. How was your vocation born? I have always been very fond of drawing and painting, thus, they were pleasures that became my job, and they continue to be a pleasure. Where my trend came from or who passed-on that desire to me, I think it’s almost impossible to elucidate. But I always think of my mother, who liked to sing, and my father, an inventor of industrial machines. I used to see him working constantly, as he was a conceptual artist who was always seeing how he could turn his ideas into reality. Los conductores hablan entre sí y con la producción, se escuchan bromas, risas, salen y entran personajes. Algunos están parados, otros sentados, intercambian lugares, y hasta hay un perro pequeño y simpático que se pasea esquivando el decorado y de vez en cuando termina en brazos de alguien. Pura Química es un programa de entretenimiento, información y deportes emitido por ESPN con varias particularidades que le dan frescura y espontaneidad a cada emisión. Su principal condimento es su equipo, encabezado por Germán Paoloski, junto a los coconductores Mex Urtizberea, José Chatruc, Mariano Zabaleta y Eugenia Tobal. Cada uno de ellos tiene una formación diferente y una amplia trayectoria en lo suyo. Germán Paoloski comenzó su carrera como periodista deportivo hace 17 años.
