STYGAR Family of Funeral Service

• Arrangements with clergy, cemetery and florist • Pre-need funeral planning • Grief counseling/support for up to a year • Veteran's benefits counseling

Our Foundation From humble beginnings in 1937, when John Joseph Stygar purchased Central Undertaking and Livery on Cass Avenue, the Stygar philosphy of service has grown strong. That first year, John J. performed about 40 funerals. It was a different time. Funerals were held at home. Communities were close-knit. Reputations were important. Losing a loved one is difficult for any family. We're honored that so many families have come to know and trust the Stygar family during their time of need. We will work diligently to preserve that trust now and into the future. And, we pledge to always do business in an honorable way that will make our children proud.

The Stygar family and our caring, professional staff is always available to serve you. Our services can be performed at either of our locations or at a church, a cemetery or any other location your family chooses.

To Meet Every Family's Needs and Wishes, We Offer: • • • • • • •

Funeral services Memorial services Church visitation services Cemetery burials Cremations Donations to medical schools Arrangements for out-of-town deaths

We offer a choice of quality funeral products in a wide range of prices and specialize in working within each family's budget to create a meaningful tribute to a loved one.

BACK COVER FEATURE SealMaxxPlus offers customers the opportunity to never seal their wood or concrete surfaces again. SealMaxxPlus is a service applied process of cleaning and sealing wood and concrete internally. The process is two days with a day in the middle for drying purposes. The initial application of sealant is applied following a deep cleaning of the wood or concrete. The cleaning removes all previous oil based stains that may have been applied. While wet the wood/concrete sealant is applied and carried into the substrate by the rinse water. After drying for 24 hours the wood may be lightly sanded prior to the application of the moisture barrier sealant. This silicone based product seals the wood and concrete for several years to come. The wood sealant can contain a cedartone stain to give the wood a very natural cedar finish. Concrete sealant, for the most part, is applied as a clear product.

SealMaxxPlus Never Seal Your Deck or Concrete Again!

Visit www.sealmaxxplus.com for additional information concerning either process. You may request a no obligation, no cost consultation from the web site or by calling 636.294.6299. Two Great Races, One Cowbell Region’s First BaseCamp Relay and Five Years of MO’ Cowbell

Cowbell Uncorked: OFF ROAD Saturday, May 9, 2015 Created by the same organization as MO’ Cowbell, this event is the region’s first, BaseCamp trail relay. It has taken everything runners love about a team relay race and thrown it for a loop, actually three loops! Teams of five will cover 100K (62 miles) on the scenic Katy Trail, around Klondike Park and through Augusta, MO. Each runner will tackle three loops: a 10K loop and two 5K loops totaling 12.4 miles. What really sets this race apart is the BaseCamp, an all-day tailgate! Klondike

Park will host – live music, wine tasting, camp games, food trucks, health and fitness vendors, foam rolling and yoga sessions and oh yeah…running! Bring the family, because there’s plenty to do for spectators too! Participants will receive a short-sleeve tech-race shirt, a commemorative wine glass, a wine topper finisher’s medal, plus access to medical stations and stretching provided by headlining sponsor Mercy Sports Medicine. Space is limited to the first 200 teams. Register today at CowbellUncorked.com

MO’ Cowbell Sunday, October 4, 2015 Now in its fifth year, MO’ Cowbell promises to be bigger and better! 6,000 runners and walkers will take to the streets of historic St. Charles. Offering the “flattest and fastest” course in the St. Louis region, MO’ Cowbell is perfect for first-time runners and is also USATF Certified for those looking to quali-

fy for national races like the Boston Marathon. There is a race for every skill level: marathon, half marathon, half marathon relay, and 5K Participants will receive a long-sleeve tech-shirt, a commemorative cowbell, a finisher’s medal, car sticker, sports bag, course entertainment, and water and aid stations. Race favorites are back: the High-Five Zone at Hermans Farm Orchard, Chuck the beloved race mascot and of course thousands of cowbells. Get a MOO’ve on! ROCK ‘n connection ROLL © Michael Grafman 2015. All rights reserved • mrginvests@gmail.com

...St. Louis is home. Danny and I grew up in Dogtown and were very heavily influenced by R&B in our formative years. I had several bands before I moved to California. When we came back from California, there was an almost immediate love between St. Louis and us...even before the record deal. When we wrote Ol’ St. Lou, it kind of sealed the deal.

Pat Liston

Meet Pat Liston One of the Founding Fraternal Bandmates of St. Louis’ Own Mama’s Pride Michael: I've known Pat Liston of St. Louis' Pride of St. Louis, Mama's Pride, for over 35 years and had the privilege of chatting with him via email to find out what he's been up to. In addition, we spoke about his connection to St. Louis and its impact on his illustrious musical career for the past 40+ years.

Michael: Pat, tell St. Louis how you and your brother, Danny, created Mama's Pride, one of St. Louis' classic rock bands that went onto national prominence. Pat: Well, actually, I was living in Los Angeles about 3 years prior to Mama's Pride. I came home to put a band together with my brother,

Danny, and Max Baker to take back to L.A.. I contacted two other musicians that I had worked with in the past, Mike Gordon (drummer) and Gary Bourgeois (bass). I took the project back to L.A. because I felt they would break up at the first argument if we were in St. Louis, but if you’re 2000 miles away you’re more palatable to working things out. The 5 piece band played up and down the west coast and Hawaii 6 nights a week for almost 2 years before coming back to St. Louis.

Michael: What's your connection to St. Louis? Specifically, the city, the people, the music scene?

Pat: It was about 1976 or 77...we were touring with the Outlaws and we’d been away for awhile. We were scheduled to open for the Outlaws at the American Theater. It was sold out. We hit the stage after

Rockabilly in the 50’s, and Motown and the Beatles in the 60’s. Michael: Who was most influential in St. Louis as to assisting you and Mama's Pride?

being gone for several months and the crowd went wild. I had torn the cartilage in my knee and was in a full leg cast. We closed with a song called “Long Time”... it was sort of our “Freebird.” Towards the end of the song, Max and I would play these wild frenzied riffs and slowly drop to the floor...then jump up in a musical crescendo. The audience was waiting for it, but were all watching me, to see what I was going to do in a full leg cast. I did exactly what we always did and when I came up I even spun around

on the cast. They went nuts...truth be known, it was easy because the cast was so rigid, but it had a great effect. The Outlaws never got them back after we were through with them. Even Henry Paul said, in retrospect, it was foolish to have us open in our own home town. Michael: How instrumental was St. Louis in building your career and Mama's Pride? Pat: There were definitely some local music influences, but quite honestly, my mom

Pat: Well, once we had the record deal, we needed radio airplay. The most influential station in St. Louis was KSHE. The man at the helm was Shelley Grafman. Shelley truly liked our band and had us in heavy rotation constantly. Had we had a Shelley Grafman in 10 other cities, we’d have been mega stars. Michael: What are you doing now and are you still playing music?

Pat: I prefer playing out solo at smaller venues in the St. Louis and surrounding area. It allows me the opportunity to interact more with the audience. Periodically I play with Mama’s Pride, but my real focus these days is my solo career. I have three solo CDs. I still write and feel creative. My wife Dawn books me and does most of the day to day business in addition to artwork on t-shirts and CDs. I’m also writing a book based on my 50+ years of music and beyond. It has been a daunting task to compile so much information and pictures, then condense it so it doesn’t bog down the readers. It’s basically done and being edited right now. I’m not sure of a release date but I will certainly keep you posted. Michael: Any concerts coming up in the St. Louis area in the near future or in 2015? Pat: I play smaller venues for the most part, but my wife periodically gets me an opening slot with a larger name act. I opened solo 2 nights for Three Dog Night last year at this time. Michael: Thank you Pat for sharing your story and your connection to St. Louis! To contact Pat, email him at: info@PatListon.com
