BY DON EMDE Publisher / Editor-in-Chief
This issue, which went in the mail in mid-June, makes me pause for a moment. It was in June of 1990 that I gave up a good-paying job as Publisher of Dealernews magazine and went on my own, career-wise, in the publishing world. And now, as my company turns 35, I want to say thanks to the many people and companies that we have done business with through the years for their support and friendship. Many are still with us today.
That first year, in addition to writing and self-publishing a book about the history of the Daytona 200 and other projects, I launched a dealer newsletter called The Emde Report. If that name sounds familiar, when we launched Parts Magazine a few years later, that became the title of this column I have been writing ever since.
I always love it when my writing takes me back to memories and stories of my dear-departed friend Fred Fox, who, of course, was the founder of Parts Unlimited. I was fortunate to know Fred then. In addition to all of his busy days he had building his business, he often took the time to call and see how I was doing. I struggled for a few years with a magazine called Motorcycle Collector that I was trying to get off the ground, and he bought ads in it to support me.
His ads, while greatly appreciated, weren’t enough to solve the problem of making that magazine profitable. I eventually gave up on it in favor of a better idea. It hit me one day that instead of Fred buying just one ad in a magazine about old vintage motorcycles, maybe he would prefer a whole magazine about the products that Parts Unlimited was selling?
Fortunately, he readily agreed. We kicked off the premier issue of Parts Magazine in 1994 and we’re still going strong in our 32nd year. So when you see the Emde Report name at the top of my columns, I hope you’ll think of Fred Fox. He may be gone physically, but he still inspires me, and all of us, to help keep the industry connected and going strong. ■

THOR RIDER STARTS HIS 250MX TITLE DEFENSE IN STYLE, WINNING BOTH MOTOS
HOR/Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan began his 250MX title defense in dominant fashion, sweeping both motos at the Pro Motocross season opener in Pala, California. It marked the second consecutive year the Southern Californian has gone 1-1 at the opener, delivering a commanding start to the summer campaign in front of the home crowd in May. Deegan topped the first qualifying session and secured second in the combined times. In the first moto, he was fourth after the start, and although he dropped back to sixth on that opening lap, he quickly went to work and moved into third four laps into the moto.
line with another comfortable margin to score maximum points at the opening round with his perfect 1-1 score.
Around the halfway mark, he advanced to the runner-up spot after the leader went down and then made the pass to claim the lead shortly after. The newly crowned 250SX West Champion rode on to win the first moto of the season by a 6.6-second margin.
In Moto 2, he was third after the start and made his way to the runner-up spot by Lap 5, ultimately claiming the lead around the halfway mark. The defending champ then threw down his fastest lap of the race, and once again crossed the
“That’s a wrap at Round 1! It was a great day,” Deegan said. “I went 1-1, so that’s always nice. Now we’ve got 10 more rounds to go. We’re just going to keep doing our thing.”
As of press time, the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team was heading to Northern California for the Hangtown Classic, Round 2 of Pro Motocross and Round 19 of the SuperMotocross World Championship at the Prairie City SVRA in Rancho Cordova. ■
GENERATION SPEED: MOTOAMERICA’S ROAD TO MOTOGP WILL COVER NEW RACE SERIES
MotoAmerica announced that its new Parts Unlimited Talent Cup by Motul Championship will be the focus of an all-new 2025 docu-series that is replacing “Pressure to Rise.”
The new show, while highlighting the rough-and-tumble racing action of Talent Cup, will also take viewers behind the scenes as MotoAmerica’s young racers embark on the “Road to MotoGP” via the new class.
The 10-episode show debuted on May 29 and airs on MotoAmerica’s Live+ streaming service and MotoAmerica’s YouTube channel. “Generation Speed: MotoAmerica’s Road to MotoGP” will also debut on MTRSPT1 on June 5 at 8 p.m. Eastern.
“This year, we introduced the MotoAmerica Talent Cup Series to our schedule. We saw an opportunity to document the journey, creating a show that gives fans a front-row seat to the rise of some of our sport’s most promising young riders,” said Chuck Aksland, MotoAmerica COO. “From their first laps in the Talent Cup to chasing the dream of competing in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, this series will showcase it all. With brand-new bikes, fresh faces, new teams, and the support of passionate families, viewers will get an inside look as the riders climb through the ranks.”
Aksland noted that the program is about more than just racing, it’s also about getting an inside look as the young athletes grow over the season, while also connecting with the stories behind the helmets.
“The show highlights the diversity of riders in Parts Unlimited Talent Cup and follows them as they try to navigate the new challenges that are associated with a new class, and motorcycle,” said the show’s director/showrunner Federico Sarria. “The new show will also shine a light on the village of people working behind the scenes to make it all happen. Expect a mixture of race-weekend coverage, as well as off-track happenings, throughout the 10-episode season.” ■
It’s not often that someone can spot Kyle Wyman a lead in a Mission King of the Baggers race and not only catch him, but beat him. Frenchman Loris Baz, however, did just that on a rainy Saturday in early May at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. It was the Parts Unlimited/ Drag Specialties/Indian rider’s first outing on his S&S Cycle/Indian Motorcycle-backed Indian Challenger in wet conditions, and just his third race in the class.
In winning his first Mission King of the Baggers race, Baz became the 10th different racer to taste victory in the fifth year of the V-Twin class.
Just when it appeared as though HarleyDavidson x Dynojet Factory Racing’s Wyman had this one locked up, Baz started to push forward, moving into second after passing his teammate Troy Herfoss, and gaining ground quickly as the laps wore down. Baz didn’t get to the back of the Harley until the very last lap, and he made it count, drafting past Wyman on the back straight, taking the lead into 10-A, and holding a tight line through the final set of corners to score the win by just .199 of a second.
Third place went to 2024 Mission King of the Baggers Champion Herfoss, who admitted to just having a bad day. Herfoss was some three seconds adrift of Baz and Wyman and the Australian only just beat RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson’s Hayden Gillim by .126 of a second.
After three races, Wyman leads the championship by 26 points over Herfoss, 70-44. Baz is now third in the title chase, three points adrift of Herfoss.
“Well, it went from just trying to survive to seeing I was [gaining ground],” Baz said. “I’m super happy. It doesn’t matter the class. When you never rode a bike in the wet and you go first time, it’s just a matter of how good your crew is to guess setup for you. So, big thanks to them. I’m proud of what we are doing inside the team and all the people involved.” ■
» As of press time, the King of the Baggers season was headed for round three at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on May 30-June 1. For more information on the 2025 King of the Baggers series, visit www.motoamerica.com.
There have been 100 points available from the opening two rounds of the 2025 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship. Cameron Beaubier has earned 95 of those 100 points.
Three wins and a second in the four races held thus far have Beaubier and his Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M1000 RR has the advantage as the series headed to round three at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin at press time.
In the series opener at Barber Motorsports Park, Beaubier won race one and finished second to Jake Gagne in the wet second race. At Road Atlanta, he went one better with a clean sweep of the two races in Georgia.
But, the old saying “it ain’t over until it’s over” definitely applies to motorcycle racing.
Case in point, last year. After five races in the first two rounds (Barber’s round featured three Superbike races), Beaubier
had won three of them, finished second, and had a DNF. Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati’s Josh Herrin, the man who would march on to the 2024 Superbike title, was sixth and 47 points behind Beaubier.
Then came Road America and everything changed when Beaubier crashed in the rain and suffered a broken heel that required surgery. Gagne inherited the championship lead and was 18 points ahead of Beaubier. Herrin was 34 points behind in sixth place.
After missing the two races at Brainerd International Raceway and coming back too soon to try and race at Ridge Motorsports Park, Beaubier was on the back foot (his good one). Bobby Fong led the championship by a point over Gagne, who was suffering with carpal tunnel syndrome and would eventually end his season early. Herrin was up to fourth, just nine points out of first and about to go on a tear, winning five of the last 10 races and finishing on the podium in all but one of the races he didn’t win.
Herrin won the title by 55 points over Beaubier, who somehow clawed his way back to second in the points after his injury. Gagne dropped all the way down to seventh.
So, you can see that a fast start doesn’t mean much if you get injured or have mechanical issues.
It’s way too early for anyone in the Superbike pack to panic, but they must be wary of Beaubier’s pace and how he has been able to dominate the season thus far. As if three wins out of four races isn’t enough to make him smile, Beaubier also moved into a tie with Josh Hayes in the all-time AMA win road race win list across all classes with his 89th victory coming at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
He’s in his third year on the BMW, his third year in the Tytlers team, and he is comfortable and happy. And, a happy and comfortable Beaubier can prove to be unbeatable. ■

The 2025 Supercross Season was one for the books with many different riders getting main event wins and swapping the red plates several times during the season. Many of those main event victories went to THOR riders, with Haiden Deegan topping them all with three wins, multiple podiums, and his first 250cc Supercross West Championship.
With the exception of one race, Deegan and his Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha was never off the podium for the entire 250cc Supercross West season. Deegan was openly gunning for the 250cc top slot and set out to prove it after a fifth place finish in the opener. He went on to win three races and claim the 250cc Supercross West title a race early, and then easily won the season finale, the 250cc East/West Showdown.
Having won the 250cc SuperMotocross title in 2023-24, and the 250cc Pro Motocross title in 2024, the only championship
Deegan lacked in the 250cc class was a 250cc Supercross regional title, which he now has. Even his critics have to admit, Deegan is an amazing racing talent. He feeds that talent with hard work, training, and testing. Look for Deegan to defend his 250cc Motocross National Championship and his 250cc SuperMotocross World Championship in the months to come.
“As the season progressed for the 250 West division, it became clear that Haiden Deegan had a solid game plan to take this title home,” said Josh Shorter, Global Brand Director, THOR MX. “Deegan knew to race fast, race hard and would not be rattled by the end, remarkably wrapping the title one round early! THOR could not be prouder of these racers and their teams.”
In The 450cc Class, Aaron Plessinger #7 THOR/Red Bull KTM, came back strong in the second part of the season with a third at Daytona. For the rest of the season, he earned several more podiums and the second 450cc Supercross win
There’s no doubt about it, THOR/ Yamaha rider Haiden Deegan is an amazing racing talent. Not only did he clinch the 250cc Supercross West title a race early, he also won the season finale, the 250cc East/ West Showdown.
of his career in the rain and mud at Foxborough. When the season was said and done, he finished sixth in 450cc Supercross points and qualified for the SuperMotocross Play-Offs. Look for Plessinger to be even stronger in the Motocross Nationals where his off-road racing skills come into play.
There was more to celebrate in the 250cc Supercross East/ West where more THOR riders claimed victories. Max Anstie #31, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, won the opening round of the 250cc Supercross East and kept the red plate for several races. He was riding great and was poised to continue to lead the 250 SX East until a crash at the Brimingham Tripple Crown had him out for the rest of the Supercross season. Stay tuned, though, as he may return for Outdoor Nationals or the SuperMotocross Playoffs, which he qualified for by virtue of his 250cc Supercross East victory at Tampa.
THOR/Red Bull
KTM’s Aaron Plessinger put in a strong season of riding, and qualified for the SuperMotoCross Play-Offs. Look for his well-known skills to shine in the Motocross Nationals.
Nate Thrasher #41, 250SX East, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, won the Birmingham Tripple Crown with a 3-3-2 performance that garnered him the overall victory. After that he continued to race with the front runners of the 250cc Supercross East, scoring enough points to finish fourth in the title chase. Look for Thrasher to carry that momentum to the 2025 Motocross Series as he just keeps getting stronger.
Cole Davies #100, 250SX West, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, in what was supposed to be a “learning season” he scored back-to-back victories at the Seattle and Philadelphia Supercross events. Although injured for the final 250cc Supercross West event, Davies still finished third in points. The impressive teenager did all that in his first professional Supercross season. He is likely to be even more impressive in his first professional Motocross season. So, keep an eye on #100, he is comfortable running up front.
» We at Parts Magazine congratulate Haiden Deegan on his 250cc Supercross West Championship. Look for your THOR riders to be back up front for the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Season.
At the halfway point of the 2025 off-road racing season, wins are turning into streaks, historic events are becoming routine, and Moose Offroadbacked athletes are inching closer to titles across the country.
For the second time in the 2025 season, an XC2 250 Pro rider took the overall win at the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series, this time going to FMF KTM Factory Racing Team Landers rider Grant Davis. The win came at the Hoosier GNCC in Crawfordsville, Indiana, where Davis not only claimed the victory on adjusted time (the XC2 class starts the three-hour race from the second row behind XC1 riders), but was physically first across the line to boot. Davis has been on the overall podium several times this season and was very close to the overall win multiple times. The Moose Offroad rider was glad to finally bring home the big trophy.
“I’ve been pretty [disappointed] the last couple of races that I’ve been losing out on these overall wins,” said Davis. “This
weekend I was pretty mad. I was like, ‘I’m either winning or I’m going [down].’ It worked today. I didn’t even hit the ground once today. I’m pumped on that.”
The Landers KTM rider holds a strong grip on the XC2 points lead, and his string of podium finishes and a win at the Hoosier put Davis within one point of the overall championship, as well.
Out west, Mason Semmens is the star on the rise in the 250cc ranks. The FMF RPM KTM Racing Team rider is on a tear in the Pro II class of the National Grand Prix Championship (NGPC) Series, opening up a four-race win streak.
The Moose Offroad star also has four out of five wins in the WORCS championship, his worst finish in either series being second place. The defending champion is already hoping he can wrap up his titles early (again) so he can get some time in on the 450 ahead of the 2026 season. “[Racing in the 450 class] is the goal, that’s the plan,” Mason Semmens said. “Winning is fun, and I want to enjoy it because I know next
multiple occasions. An overall win aboard his 250 seems a likely possibility before the close of the season.
year is going to be a tough year. Moving up to the big boys is going to be a learning curve.”
Semmens’ teammate Rachel Stout is another Moose Offroad standout currently leading two championships. Stout has had fights on her hands in both the National Hare and Hound and West Hare Scrambles series, but thanks to consistency and grit, the FMF RPM KTM rider is holding both points leads.
Tayla Jones is another leading lady of Moose Offroad, the Phoenix Racing Honda rider continuing to gain momentum in her return from injury last season. Along with GNCC WXC podiums to her credit, Jones has carded a number of wins in the U.S. Sprint Enduro series and is well within striking distance of the Pro Women championship with one round remaining.
The U.S. Sprint Enduro series is another arena where Landers KTM’s Grant Davis is shining. The Moose Offroad rider has a near-perfect score in the Pro 2 class claiming 11 of 12 day wins, and has been challenging for the overall win on
Liam Draper of the AmPro Yamaha squad seems to be finding his stride. The Moose Offroad athlete has spent time at the front of the field in GNCC, nabbed an overall podium at the Camp Coker Bullet in second, and brought home the big win at the High Voltage Sprint Enduro. Kailub Russell, also with the AmPro Yamaha camp, continues to show flashes of brilliance in an up-and-down season. Russell got himself another overall podium at the Old Gray GNCC, and with five more rounds to run, can never be counted out.
Cody Barnes of the Phoenix Racing Honda team seems to always find himself in a scrap, the Moose Offroad rider battling in the 250 ranks of the GNCC and U.S. Sprint Enduro series. Barnes is another 250 rider you will regularly see inside the overall top-10, and along with Gus Riordan of the Landers KTM team, is in the top-five of the GNCC overall championship. Barnes and Riordan often find themselves duking it out, as they were in the Camp Coker Bullet, Old Gray and Powerline Park GNCC rounds. Not to be outshined by Davis, Riordan is another XC2 racer impressing the field with multiple overall podiums in the GNCC Series
The high-contrast lettering on the sidewall of the DIABLO Powercruiser offers a distinctive effect that highlights Pirelli’s commitment to innovation and attention to detail.
Pirelli’s DIABLO Powercruiser is a high-performance tire for Cruisers and Baggers, and gives riders a blend of limit-pushing potential, stability and longevity. It features reliable grip and handling, and stability during more aggressive acceleration, braking and cornering.
The iconic Flash design tread of the DIABLO Powercruiser is inspired by the DIABLO ROSSO IV. It not only makes for efficient water evacuation, but also provides absolute wear uniformity.
Motorcycles keep getting better, which means tires have to be able to keep up with a modern bike’s performance capabilities. At Pirelli, breakthroughs achieved in one tire segment often find their way into the brand’s other segments. Most recently, the new Pirelli DIABLO Powercruiser has brought Pirelli’s roadracing prowess to the Custom-Touring segment.
The DIABLO Powercruiser is a high-performance tire for Cruisers and Baggers, and it gives riders that perfect blend of limit-pushing potential, stability and longevity. Reliable grip and handling, even on heavier Touring models, offer high levels of confidence. At the same time, stability during more aggressive acceleration, braking and cornering allows riders to enjoy their bike’s full potential.
Currently, the DIABLO Powercruiser tire is available in all the main sizes for popular American Baggers and Cruisers, including the Indian Scout. There are also currently fitments available to suit the Honda Rebel and Yamaha Bolt R-Spec.
The DIABLO name has been around for a while now, signifying the family of tires derived from Pirelli’s racing DNA. It’s not a name that Pirelli uses lightly, reserving the DIABLO designation for tires that reflect those race-tire characteristics – exceptional grip, precise handling and a high level of responsiveness.
“When we put the DIABLO name on a tire, it signals that it’s been developed with the same DNA that drives our worldclass racing tires. It’s about pure performance,” said Brian Davenport, Pirelli Tires.
For a Custom-Touring tire to get that DIABLO name is a big deal, and the Powercruiser has been proven worthy of it. Early test riders were enthusiastic about characteristics like cornering grip and quick warm-up time. The overall response was that the Powercruiser delivered the steady, confidence-inspiring feel one expects from a Touring tire, but with the racing-derived grip and responsiveness a rider wants during more aggressive riding.
Finding this precision blend for the DIABLO Powercruiser was no easy task. “We know cruiser riders expect long life from their tires, but they’re also riding harder than ever; braking later, cornering deeper and accelerating harder,” explained Davenport. “The Powercruiser was built to thrive in that space, giving riders the confidence of performance with the mileage they expect.”
Meeting those expectations involves a carefully engineered rigidity, profile shape and compound behavior to suit the heavy Cruisers that the Powercruiser is designed for. The tire has to be able to handle the typical needs of a Cruiser or Touring bike, like heavy loads, low-speed
maneuvering and long tour-style rides. On the other hand, it needs to provide the sportiness it promises.
“You’re taking technology meant for high-speed flicks and steep lean angles and adapting it for bikes that are often customized and built to cruise, but cruise fast,” said Davenport. “We didn’t just tweak a sport tire. We built the Powercruiser from the ground up to handle the weight and torque of bikes in this segment, without sacrificing that DIABLO performance feel.”
It might have been built from the ground up, but, of course, that doesn’t mean the DIABLO Powercruiser didn’t have a lot of help getting started. The team at Pirelli used knowledge gleaned from its decades of racing, including a number of groundbreaking technologies that have made a big impact on the performance and stability of Pirelli street tires.
Cap & Base construction allows for soft shoulders that enhance cornering grip, plus a firmer center that maintains longevity and stability under touring loads. The dual-compound technology in the DIABLO Powercruiser includes a silica-rich formula that bolsters both wet and dry grip while also extending tread life.
The Powercruiser’s other racing-derived properties include multi-radius profiles, resin-blend compounds and optimized steel belt structures.
Visually, there’s an immediate indicator that the DIABLO Powercruiser has the heart of a race tire; the slick shoulders improve dry performance and further improve that all-important grip in the corners. Plus, Pirelli’s iconic Flash design in the central part of the tread pattern is another hallmark of the brand’s sporty tires.
The specialty compounds for both front and rear tire help improve performance in both wet and dry conditions. The rear features a bi-compound with a softer stripe on the shoulder for great cornering grip. The main compound is designed for high stability and wear resistance.
The DIABLO Powercruiser is just the latest example of Pirelli’s philosophy of “We sell what we race. We race what we sell” in action. The brand has been the exclusive tire supplier for the FIM Superbike World Championship since 2004, and in 2024, Pirelli became the sole tire supplier for the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships. Things will get even better in 2027, when Pirelli becomes the exclusive tire supplier for MotoGP, too.
Everything from the materials to the tread patterns have been refined on the racetrack. Off-track, processes like compound mixing technologies have improved Pirelli’s race tires and, therefore, its street tires.
Long before the DIABLO Powercruiser had been imagined, tires like the DIABLO ROSSO IV and DIABLO SUPERCORSA paved the way for that track-to-street flow of technology and advancement. The DIABLO ROSSO IV made hypersport technology available to aggressive street riders, and the DIABLO SUPERCORSA – especially the SP version – gives street riders a tire worthy of the track.
These days, though, it’s not just sportbikes out on the track. Bagger racing reflects the growing abilities of V-Twins, and it’s proving to be a huge hit with fans. Watching those bikes racing side-by-side on iconic roadracing courses only proves how important it is for a tire that can keep up.
“There’s a growing demand for tires that can match the potential of today’s performance V-Twins and models like the Indian Scout,” said Davenport. “The Powercruiser is that missing link –finally, there’s a tire that brings everything together for the rider who wants to go fast, lean hard, and still look good doing it.” ■

Priorities change through different phases of life, but for a motocross rider, priorities are consistent on the bike. Comfort and control are among the list of must-haves for riders to feel good, ride their best and have fun. Riders are constantly searching for more comfort on the bike, and the story is no different with the gear and equipment they’re wearing.
THOR has its priorities straight when it comes to designing gear, working the most important characteristics into carefully crafted pieces that have riders covered from head to toe.
Among THOR’s innovative 2025 lineup are its Activate goggles and gloves from its recently released SPORTMODE and LAUNCHMODE lines, each with new designs and colorways sure to have customers wanting to add them to their gear bag.
Sight and feel work symbiotically for motocross riders. As they see and analyze an upcoming obstacle, they prepare and execute what it takes to tackle it. This critical connection deserves gear that will help riders, not hinder them.
Activate goggles are the product of a combination of advanced features, intentional design elements and rider comfort and safety. THOR prioritized enhanced visibility and rider comfort with Activate goggles, starting with implementing its FOV+ technology. FOV+ stands for Field of Vision Plus, a proprietary THOR design that gives riders an expanded peripheral view with an enhanced lens and frame shape.
The lenses themselves are die-cut polycarbonate, and they feature mirrored tint and UV protection with each of the new colorways, including Brave, Patriot and Riot. The Brave design will complement any gear set with a black frame and sleek gray, white and black strap design. Customers looking for something a bit brighter and more
will love the Acid colorway, boasting a high-vis yellow frame and mirror-tinted lens to match.
The proud patriots in your customer base looking for enhanced riding vision and comfort while flying USA colors will surely want to get their hands on the Activate Patriot goggles. This celebratory new design features a combination of red, white and blue throughout the lenses, frame and strap.
Regardless of what color your customers choose, Activate goggles are also designed for comfort. Major pieces to that puzzle are THOR’s triple-layer face foam, molded intake ports and an outrigger frame design for the 45mmthick strap. The foam helps effectively control moisture, while the intake ports help reduce it and keep it out of the rider’s vision.
“Goggle construction is something that needs to be taken seriously from start to finish,” says Josh Shorter, Global Brand Director for THOR. “Our new Activate goggles are thoughtfully designed to fit securely and comfortably,
with optimal airflow and an abundant field of vision to help riders see both focal and peripheral points, unobstructed. Beyond the performance attributes that any rider will appreciate, the Activate goggle is built to withstand the rigorous testing processes to meet CE certification standards. This goggle truly is high performance, with safety-oriented peace of mind.”
With riders’ eyes protected and locked in, let’s focus on their connection to handlebars. THOR ensured every detail was refined with its 2025 gear lineup, which means it’s never limited to just jerseys and pants. Part of the race-proven SPORTMODE and LAUNCHMODE lines, THOR’s latest glove additions have had riders gripping a new level of comfort and control, and now they’re available in unmistakable new designs and colors.
“Most of us riders learn about gloves from a very young age, it’s simply a matter of when, not if, a spill will occur,” Shorter adds. “Our gloves are not only built for flexible comfort and optimal grip, but also to take some abuse when a rider’s hands are the first line of defense in the event of a tumble.”
Offering maximum flexibility and comfort, SPORTMODE gloves prioritize performance and bike-to-rider feedback with four-way stretch material and minimized seams. Other fine details like a Clarino palm, silicone printed fingertips, and a secure hook-and-loop closure all help ensure accurate grip contact and control fit for the world’s best athletes.
However, function and comfort aren’t the only highlight for SPORTMODE gloves. Part of the line’s mid-year update ensures that your customers can choose from five new
designs that make a serious statement. From electric blue Surge to purple and orange Inferno and even two different color ways of cheetah print, there’s a SPORTMODE glove ready to match each riders’ personality.
Your customers’ other latest option for THOR gloves come from the LAUNCHMODE line. These gloves are great for riders seeking a balance of protection and comfort, delivering versatility across all types of riding. LAUNCHMODE gloves share much of the same premium qualities, but with added protection on top of the hand and over the fingers. There are two new midseason designs for LAUNCHMODE, as well, including teal and black Identity and orange and black Hunter camo. ■

The Hiflofiltro RC Racing oil filters are performance with a capital P. Innovations in the field of micro-filtration have allowed Hiflo to equip the RC range with new synthetic tri-fiber filtration media, allowing for high levels of efficiency.
For three decades, Bike Alert Inc. has fueled innovation and growth in the American motorcycle aftermarket. What began in 1995 as a modest 5,000 square-foot warehouse in Atlanta, GA. stocking just 650 part numbers has evolved into a powerhouse supplier of multiple brands.
Today, JT Sprockets and Hiflofiltro filters cover 99 percent of Japanese, American and European models going back to 1968 and operates out of its 65,000 sq.ft. facility in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
At the heart of Bike Alert’s success are its time-honored brands. JT Sprockets played a pioneering role in establishing the company’s reputation when it introduced the C45 high-carbon steel sprocket in 1985. The combination of quality, availability and value led to JT Sprockets becoming a popular, worldwide sprocket brand. Similarly, Hiflofiltro oil filters followed with the same commitment to excellence becoming a TÜV certified oil filter brand.
Renowned for product performance and exceptional quality, JT and Hiflofiltro brands have become a popular choice for both aftermarket applications and original equipment manufacturers. With manufacturing roots dating back to the mid-twentieth century and production processes anchored by stringent quality controls and premium raw materials, JT Sprockets, JT Chain, and Hiflofiltro oil and air filters are iconic brands that many riders trust worldwide.
For decades, Bike Alert has focused on meeting customer needs worldwide. Whether by ensuring every part is always in stock, securing third-party certification for oil filters to guarantee quality, or investing in modern CNC manufacturing, the company has helped shape industry expectations for hard parts suppliers.
This dedication to quality and innovation has fueled the success of the JT and Hiflofiltro brands and led to the establishment of the Bike Alert Group—a robust global network spanning headquarters in Dartford, United Kingdom (Bike Alert plc), critical hubs in the USA (Bike Alert Inc., Lithia Springs, Georgia) and Southeastern Europe (Bike Alert Hellas in Athens and Thessaloniki, Greece), along with production facilities in Southeast Asia.
With an international reach that enables rigorous quality control, and a wealth of technical expertise, Bike Alert ensures that every component leaving its factories meets extremely high standards.
Designed for minimal weight and maximum durability, JT Sprocket’s JTA Racelite Alloy Rear Sprockets are CNC machined from aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum to precision tolerances tailor-made for high-performance racing applications.

Celebrating a 30 year milestone is more than a retrospective, it’s a commitment to never settling for the status quo. Bike Alert Inc. now faces the future with innovations that refine inventory management processes, incorporate state of the art design enhancements, and an unwavering adherence to core values: Responsibility, Integrity, Customer Satisfaction, and Reliability.
The team at Bike Alert Inc. say every product launched – from the precise dynamics of the JTRB and JTA ranges to the advanced filtration of Hiflofiltro and HFA (OE style straight replacement air filters) – illustrates a constant evolution. And, as global supply chains expand and technical demands become even more exacting, Bike Alert continues to drive aftermarket excellence, ensuring that every ride benefits from precision engineering and innovation.
An example of this can be found in the following products offered by Bike Alert.
For precision filtration for race and street performance, Hiflofiltro RC Oil Filters are made of a heavy duty steel canister, advanced tri fiber media capturing particles as small as 5 microns, and a secure mounting system featuring a 17 mm cross drilled nut for rapid lock wiring under race conditions.
Designed to exceed OEM durability under dynamic conditions and engineered for smooth power transfer and long life, JTRB Front Sprockets are tough. They are constructed from SCM420/20CrMo Chromoly steel alloy heat treated to optimal performance for each application, and feature proprietary rubber cushioning to reduce chain impact noise.
Engineered for extended chain life on demanding off road circuits, SC Rear Sprockets are manufactured from heat induction hardened C45 steel, feature a self cleaning design that actively expels debris. They are claimed to outlast traditional aluminum sprockets by up to six times.
Designed for minimal weight and maximum durability, JTA Racelite Alloy Rear Sprockets are CNC machined from aerospace grade 7075 T6 aluminum to precision tolerances tailor made for high performance racing applications. An anodized finish provides superior corrosion resistance. Finally, HFF Foam Air Filters are designed for optimal oxygenation to improve combustion efficiency via a high quality dual-layer foam Powerflow media that captures dust and particulates.
“We at Bike Alert want to express our thanks to all the dealers and riders who put their trust in our products. We honor that trust by always providing the quality products they have come to expect from us,” says Chris Boyiantzeas, founder and President of the Bike Alert group of companies. “I also want to express my gratitude to [the late] Fred Fox and Jeff Fox for the confidence they showed us so long ago. That beginning has led to our becoming a leading partner with LeMans and Parts Unlimited worldwide. We, along with the entire LeMans family, continue to honor their legacy.” ■

When it comes to turning a stock off-road bike into a race bike, there’s no need for things to get complicated. Moose Offroad proves that with its latest build, a 2020 Yamaha YZ250FX. The nimble bike is designed to show riders how all the small changes and parts swaps add up to create a bike worthy of any off-road racing series.
For this build, Moose Offroad partnered with Jonesboro Cycle & ATV. Moose Offroad supplied the parts and graphics, and the team at Jonesboro got everything built and ready to race. Or, in this case, ready to show off. While the bike has everything it needs to go racing, it’s going to be on display at all the races that the Moose semi visits throughout the season.
Moose Offroad’s Austin Weaver knows a parts list that stretches past 50 items can be daunting for a first-time race-bike builder. He’s got an easy piece of advice to make the task less overwhelming.
“Fit and protection are the two first things to consider when building a bike to go racing,” Weaver says. “The rider has to be comfortable on the bike to get the most out of it. Protection items are the next thing to be considered. You can’t win the race if you don’t finish.”
When it comes to racing, a comfortable setup for the controls is a must. This 250 got a complete overhaul in that department, with a Moose Offroad riser kit, triple clamp, handlebars, grips, levers, and handguards.
The Flex Series handlebar is made from a lightweight, high-quality 7065-T6 aluminum, making it both lighter and stronger than stock bars. There’s no crossbrace, which allows the bars to flex in order to reduce shock and rider fatigue.
Lock-On grips provide slip-free performance. Installation is quick and easy, requiring just an Allen-head lock collar instead of glue or wire.
The flex brake lever is, as the name says, flexible, and it will fold backward on impact, so a rider can get up and keep going. The lever has built-in adjustment to dial in rider controls.
When it comes to the foot controls, Moose Offroad’s hybrid footpegs feature a convex platform, allowing better grip at aggressive body positions. The shift lever and brake pedal are both made from 6061 billet aluminum, giving that lightweight advantage while still maintaining durability. Moose Offroad’s color-matching means the lever and pedal are both just the right shade of blue for the Yamaha.
Another comfort touch is the ribbed seat cover for traction in any kind of riding conditions. Plus, the cover has UV protection so the colors – in this case, black and blue – remain bold. Keeping a bike’s critical components protected is a must for racing, but it’s a delicate balance between providing protection against impacts and not adding unnecessary weight. The Moose Offroad case saver on this bike is a perfect example of that balance. It’s small and light, thanks to its 6061 aluminum construction, but still durable.
A shark fin disc protector pulls double duty on this build, replacing the entire brake carrier to provide full coverage for both the caliper and the rotor. A rotor guard stands watch over the front brakes.
The forks benefit from a set of carbon fiber fork guards, which easily snap into place without the need for mounting hardware. They pair perfectly with the lower fork leg guards, which are small, lightweight aluminum pieces.
Once a rider has their bike set up to suit them and plenty of protective elements to keep the bike safe from the hazards of racing, it’s time to turn to performance aspects. For this build, Moose Offroad added a host of upgrades.
One of the most obvious changes is a set of SX1 wheels. The stainless steel spokes are paired with a 7000 Series aluminum rim, resulting in wheels that save weight, but are still durable.
The dual rear sprocket is designed to last longer than a standard aluminum sprocket while weighing less than a steel version. To achieve this, the dual sprocket has an inner ring made from 7075 T6 aluminum paired with a steel outer ring. The Moose Offroad sprockets are combined with a 520 O-ring chain, which is the brand’s premium chain, providing outstanding longevity and performance.
Yes, a fast bike and rider comfort are important aspects of any race bike, but so are looks. For this Yamaha YZ250FX build, Kevin Kelly and his team at Moose Offroad came up with a graphics package to top everything off.
For the colors and design, Kelly says they didn’t want to simply follow the trend of what other motorcycle brands are doing. “We try and look at other industries outside of just the powersports industry for mood boards and ideas,” he says. “This helps with developing more unique designs.” ■

Robert Sabel is a vintage Porsche builder. Or, he was, until a 1970 BMW R75/5 rolled into his shop. Before long, Sabel was building vintage BMWs, and these days, his Roughchild brand is known for BMW resto-mods that honor each bike’s history while adding modern performance features.
Among those features are Avon tires. Sabel’s most recent build, a 1983 BMW R100, features a set of Avon Spirit ST tires. Sabel also utilizes Avon Roadrider MKII tires in many of his builds.
modified the swingarm to fit the wheel, so we figured we may as well add the fender.”
The R100 is the first direct collaboration between Roughchild and Avon Tyres. When a feature about Sabel showed up in Forbes, the Avon team saw their own tires on the pages of the story. A few phone calls later, Avon and Roughchild were officially partners. Prior to that, Sabel was simply buying Avon tires like any other customer. The Roadrider MKII tires he typically used provided classic styling as well as classic rideability.

A few phone calls later, Avon and Roughchild were officially partners.
Sabel prefers BMW models with plenty of years behind them already, typically building bikes from the 1960s or 70s. A motorcycle with a rich history deserves a tire with an equally enduring legacy. Choosing to use Avon tires was a natural choice for Sabel, who says the brand is “The trifecta – It’s a heritage brand, it’s a modern compound and the performance is superior.”
Plus, Avon Tyres typically offers its tires in a wide range of sizes. So, when Sabel wanted an oversized rear for the BMW R100, he knew Avon would be able to provide. Ultimately, Sabel opted for a 150/70R17 Spirit ST.
In a departure from his usual style, Sabel decided to add a rear fender, too. The fender was designed in-house at Roughchild, then fabricated from aluminum by a friend of Sabel’s in England. “I don’t think it’s normal to put a rear fender on a café racer, so it was important to me to make it as invisible as possible,” Sabel says. “We had already
“So much of vintage motorcycle suspension is partly in the tire, and I found that modern compounds can make a motorcycle too stiff, when before it wasn’t,” Sabel explains. “Avon typically has a taller sidewall, and that helps. My brand is known for being a resto-mod brand, so it’s very much a natural fit.”
There was another perk for Sabel, too. He says, “I’m British, and there’s a massive Union Jack on the side of the tire!”
Most recently, Sabel took a BMW equipped with Avon Roadrider MKII tires over to the Bike Shed Moto Show in London. Whatever it is he’s building next, two things are certain: it’s going to be a BMW, and it’s going to have Avon tires on it. ■

AMS strives to offer a lineup of ATV/UTV tires that fit every niche of the market. In keeping with that goal, AMS has developed an all-new tire – the All Terrain – to fill a specific gap in its expansive catalog.
“The new All Terrain is aimed at intermediate-to-hard terrain,” says AMS’s Jimmy White. “We have tires like the M1 and M2 Evil that cover everything, but the All Terrain is focused on excelling on those hard, rocky, fast trails.”
Think open desert, exposed slickrock and gravel fire roads. “More and more of these vehicles are being used on trail systems in places like Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, etc. and the roads are gravel,” White says. “You don’t want a big gnarly tire for that; it’ll be loud and fling rocks up all the time. You need something that’s going to wear well and handle good, and that’s exactly what the All Terrain does.”
Quiet operation, light handling, good traction, and great wear were criteria when AMS started developing the All Terrain over a year ago. Since widely spaced, deep tread blocks tend to be noisy, AMS tightened up the tread pattern, especially toward the center of the tire. That helps the tire roll smoothly and quietly. “It’s one of the smoothest-rolling tires I’ve used,” says White.
Another important factor in the tire’s quiet, smooth ride is the profile. Many of today’s ATV/UTV tires feature a fairly flat profile, which has its benefits in terms of traction, “but it grabs stuff on the trail and tosses it into the fenders. It also grabs the edges of ruts,” White notes. A round profile is less likely to pick up and throw debris, and has the added benefit of light steering. While square-profile tires have a
large, rectangular footprint, round-profile tires have a narrower oval footprint, which makes steering a lot lighter.
With tighter tread spacing and a narrower footprint, you might think traction would suffer, but a round profile squashes under acceleration, while cornering, and any time it’s under load, so you get that big footprint when you need it.
AMS also enhanced the All Terrain’s grip by using a dualcompound design that sees softer, sticker rubber in the tread and a firmer, stronger rubber on the shoulders. “Typically, you’d see the same compound throughout a tire, but this approach gives you great traction for lowspeed rock crawling while making the sidewalls tough to help prevent flats,” he says. AMS also wrapped the tread pattern down onto the sideways farther. This gives the All Terrain a distinct appearance, but also helps protect your customers’ rims from damage.
The All Terrain has a burly 8-ply radial carcass to support today’s bigger, heavier rigs, and comes in six sizes spanning 28 inches to 35 inches to fill all the popular top-end recreational side-by-sides. ■

Barnett has been a leader in motorcycle clutch technology for more than 75 years, with OEM replacement clutch kits, baskets, plates and springs for both dirt and street applications.
This includes fitments for many of today’s more popular lightweight and low-displacement machines under 400c, like Honda’s CRF300L dual sport, Kawasaki’s Ninja 400
sportbike, and KTM’s 390 Duke. Smaller displacement bikes have less low-end torque and require more shifting than larger displacement models. That means more slipping and massaging of the clutch, making it even more imperative that one chooses quality replacement clutch components like those manufactured in the USA by Barnett at its Southern California facility.
Barnett Sport and Street Clutch Kits include the brand’s new C22 Carbon or K22 Kevlar friction plates, tempered steel drive plates and a heavy-duty spring set. The segmented design of each friction/fiber plate increases oil flow surfaces for smoother, more consistent performance and longer overall clutch life.
The tempered steel plates undergo a thorough deburring process to remove sharp edges for a precise final product. Barnett includes shot-peened and heat-treated heavy-duty chrome silicon clutch springs with each Sport or Street clutch kit.
According to Barnett, the company’s clutch kits for smaller street bikes like Kawasaki’s Ninja 400 and Yamaha’s YZFR3 and MT-03 models have been big sellers, with these pages on the Barnett website receiving some of the highest traffic numbers each month. For dealers, this means stocking kits for these popular, high-volume models based on regional sales data and trends.
Another product Barnett would like to make dealers aware of is its Yamaha Clutch Spring Conversion Kits. These kits convert the OEM diaphragm spring setup to six coil springs and a CNC-machined, billet aluminum pressure plate for more positive engagement and a more controllable clutch feel.
While these kits are commonly used to upgrade older models like those in Yamaha’s FJ1100/1200/1300 range, Barnett also offers spring upgrade kits for models like the XT1200Z Super Tenéré and YXZ1000R side-by-side models.
From old to new, obscure to ordinary, Barnett packs 77 years of experience into its powersports clutching products, conveniently located and readily available to Parts Unlimited dealers. “Here at Barnett, we’re still family owned and operated with three generations of the Barnett family involved in daily operations,” says Chris Taylor, Marketing Director for Barnett. “And all Barnett products are still proudly made in the USA.” ■

Regular maintenance is an important part of owning a motorcycle, not just for the bike itself, but for the rider’s wallet, too. With routine care, a bike can continue to operate smoothly, and components can last longer. Ignore the maintenance, though, and it can lead to costly repairs or replacements down the road.
“Aging and wear on motorcycles are a completely normal part of operation,” says Steffen Niemietz, Application Engineer at LIQUI MOLY. “By using our high-quality lubricants and the regular, preventative use of our special MOTORBIKE additives, the service life of the engine components can be significantly extended and performance maintained at its peak.”
In addition to regular maintenance, LIQUI MOLY additives can also help extend the life of a motorcycle engine and help riders avoid big expenses in the future. A simple additive can keep things running cleanly and smoothly, allowing an engine to last longer, perform better and maintain its value.
We all know that keeping to a schedule for oil changes is one of those things that helps an engine operate at peak performance. With the LIQUI MOLY Motorbike Engine Flush, an oil change can become even more beneficial.
The engine flush is simply added to the oil reservoir prior to an oil change. Then, the engine is allowed to run while the formula circulates through the oil system, collecting deposits and sludge along the way. When the old oil is drained, all those contaminants flow right out with it.
Using the Motorbike Engine Flush provides a longer engine service life and restores the engine to optimal performance. That results in less wear on the components, lower emissions and improved performance.
LIQUI MOLY also offers solutions for cleaning the fuel system easily and effectively. The company recommends adding the Motorbike 4T Bike Additive to the fuel tank during service or in the event of acute engine malfunctions to remove deposits from important engine components such as injectors or carburetors. At the same time, this additive also reduces the formation of new deposits, so the engine runs optimally for longer. Engine performance is optimized, and the risk of carburetor freezing is minimized.
Another recommended fuel additive is Motorbike Speed Additive. It is ideal for keeping the fuel system permanently clean and always ensuring maximum performance of the bike. Simply add it to the tank regularly to keep the fuel system protected. It also improves combustion, optimizes acceleration and makes the engine run more smoothly. It’s an instant performance boost straight from the can.

There’s no doubt the team at ICON can get a bit competitive. This time, they’re going up against themselves. The new Ultraflite helmet is an amped-up version of the Airflite, ICON’s bestselling helmet to date. The Ultraflite takes things up a notch in styling, comfort and functionality.
The Ultraflite helmet begins with a handcrafted fiberglass shell, which has an updated fit compared to the Airflite.
“The adjusted fitment is less aggressively oval than the
ICON’s
The Ultraflite takes things up a notch in styling, comfort and functionality.
Airflite,” explains ICON Brand Manager Kat Foster, “so for those who found the Airflite too narrow, the Ultraflite is a more neutral fitment, and will be more comfortable for more people.”
The oversized eyeport on the Ultraflite is an MX-inspired look that’s topped with a clear Pinlock-ready Ultrashield. Inside, the DropShield Ultra slides down to cover nearly the entire eyeport. It’s significantly larger than the DropShield on the Airflite, providing a Dark Smoke guard against the sun at the flick of a switch. Customers can swap out the Ultrashield and DropShield Ultra for one of seven other color options, available separately.
Emergency-release cheek pads are one of those helmet details you hope to never need, but it’s good to know they’re there. The pads make removing the helmet easier in the event of a crash.
Speaking of crashing, the Ultraflite comes equipped with the MIPS Brain Protection System. This revolutionary design includes a low-friction layer between the shell and the liner. In an angled impact, the layer allows the helmet to slide relative to the head, reducing the chances of head injuries.
Another upgrade found on the Ultraflite helmet is the ventilation system. In addition to having more vents, the rear spoiler acts as the vent switch. It’s easy to operate and provides a big punch of style on the backside of the helmet.
Riders who want to stay in touch will appreciate the HelmLink-ready design. Created in partnership with Sena, ICON’s HelmLink includes Sena 40mm speakers, one-touch mesh technology and a rear light for added visibility. With one touch, the HelmLink can connect as many as 20 riders.
“The HelmLink compatibility now allows riders to have a fully integrated high-quality communication system,” Foster says. “No more stuck-on units on the side of the shell; the Ultraflite (along with the Domain and Elsinore helmets) tucks everything away neatly inside the shell for a streamlined and easy to use high-quality system.”
The new Ultraflite helmet is currently offered in three graphics choices. The Doodle 3 has bold graphics featuring skulls, which glow in the dark. The Misanthrope also has skulls and glow-in-the-dark elements, but with a much moodier color scheme. For riders who want something low-key, the Rizz Rizz features a Rubatone black or white geometric look. ■

What’s a workshop without an aerosol shelf? So many crucial cleaners, chemicals and lubes come in cans, and Maxima Racing Oils has developed formulas for all the essentials. However, three of Maxima’s most popular products stand out as especially important, because they are so darn useful! If your techs and customers don’t have MPPL, SC1 and CleanUP at hand, they’re missing out.
You know that familiar yellow-and-blue can that’s popular for quieting squeaks and freeing rusty bolts? Well, Maxima has made something similar with MPPL, which is short for Multi-Purpose Penetrating Lube. “MPPL may not be a household name like WD-40, but it stands up to the big brands in rust prevention and penetration, and keeps doing its job long after you apply it” says Randy Commans, creative director at Maxima Racing Oils.
MPPL displaces moisture, prevents corrosion and penetrates rust to free stuck parts. It also works as a light lubricant, so it’s really a handy product that belongs in every garage, shop, toolbox and truck cab. Use it to dry and lubricate side-stand and foot peg/ shifter/lever pivots after a wash, to prep metal surfaces for long-term storage, or to silence squeaky hinges.
Maxima’s MPPL is a versatile product that displaces moisture, prevents corrosion and penetrates rust to free stuck parts. It also works as a light lubricant, so it’s really a handy product that belongs in every garage, shop, toolbox and truck cab.
As versatile as MPPL is, SC1 has been shown to have even more uses. Originally presented as a detailer that shines, conditions and protects, SC1 High Gloss Coating earned the nickname, new bike in a can. Two decades after its debut, SC1 has taken on a life of its own as a workshop MVP with seemingly limitless applications.
Sure, SC1 makes plastics and painted surfaces look great, but it also helps keep mud from sticking to the inside of dirt bike and ATV fenders. Its silicone-rich formula makes it a great lubricant for rubber, helping carburetors slip into intake flanges and tabs pop into rubber grommets. Spray it on jacket and gear-bag zippers to make them slide smoother, or use it on leather boots and belts. “SC1 has thousands of uses,” says Commans, “not only for your customers’ motorcycles or side-by-sides, but also for RVs, homes, patios and more.”
Maxima’s CleanUP is a great solution for oily parts and caked-on grime. It is an emulsiontype cleaner that’s designed for use on sealed and unsealed chains, but is equally useful on engines, suspension and other grimy parts.
The SC1 High Gloss Coating earned the nickname – AKA new bike in a can – has countless uses. From making surfaces look great to keeping mud from sticking to plastics, it also makes a great lubricant for rubber.
Every mechanic and DIYer knows the frustration of oily parts and caked-on grime. That’s where Maxima’s CleanUP comes in. CleanUP is a professional-strength, emulsiontype cleaner that softens and dissolves oil, grease and all sorts of crud. It’s designed for use on sealed and unsealed chains, but is equally useful on engines, suspension and other grimy parts. “I like to spray a little on a rag and use it to tidy up bikes and tools at the end of a project,” says Commans. Whatever needs cleaning, CleanUP is up for the job.
Just three different Maxima products can handle thousands of tasks, and there are loads of other aerosols in the lineup! From penetrating lube to foam air filter care, your techs and customers can turn to Maxima for all their aerosol needs. ■

Getting into sticky situations is just a part of the ATV and UTV experience. Eventually, we’re all going to wind up stuck. With recovery boards from Moose Offroad, though, riders don’t have to be stuck for long. The boards are lightweight items to stow on board for those inevitable “oops” moments. Plus, Moose Offroad has strap options to keep things in place, on the trailer or on the trail.
The recovery boards from Moose Offroad are made from a reinforced nylon material. The result is a board that has a high resistance to breaking or shattering, while also providing plenty of flex. The boards are also strong, sup porting up to 10,000 pounds, so even the biggest UTVs can benefit from these.
Moose Offroad’s retractable ratchet straps are another must-have for off-road excursions. At two inches wide, these straps are sturdy enough to handle a working load of 800 pounds. The retracting ratchet allows for a quick setup, with no loose ends and easy button operation.
The metal on each strap is zinc-plated, making the hardware as sturdy as the webbing. The handle and release button are both plastic-coated for a comfortable grip. The retractable ratchet straps come in pairs, and riders can choose black, red or blue.
It’s also smart for riders to have a couple of Moose Offroad’s TPR straps on hand. Each 20-inch strap is made from extremely durable TPR, and it’s essentially an

Taking precautions against encounters with the asphalt just got more convenient. The new TechAir 5 Plasma airbag system from Alpinestars is the lightest, most comfortable option yet in the company’s growing line of Tech-Air systems.
The Tech-Air 5 Plasma is essentially invisible, in terms of both looks and feel. It is designed for road riding, and the thin, breathable stretch material of the chassis allows plenty of airflow. The collar and armpit areas have a wider cut than previous Tech-Air systems, further increasing rider comfort. As an added bonus, the 100 percent waterproof electronic components can be removed, allowing the vest that houses the airbag system to be washed.
Even the protective elements of the Tech-Air 5 Plasma have improved ventilation. The CE Level 1 Nucleon Plasma back protector is soft and pliable, conforming to a rider’s body while also remaining breathable for continued airflow. The airbag bladder includes laser-cut perforated holes to offer breathability that doesn’t compromise performance.
Another big perk is the weight: the Tech-Air 5 is 25 percent lighter than the original TechAir 5, weighing just over 3 pounds.
The communication between the sensors and the airbag itself are incredibly fast, with full airbag deployment taking only 25-50 milliseconds. It’s truly a “blink and you’ll miss it” speed. The airbag remains inflated for five seconds, which is a longer than the average length of time for a crash.
The argon canister that fills the airbag can be easily replaced by the user, and the airbag bladder itself is good for six individual deployments before it needs to be replaced.
Alpinestars’ Tech-Air 5 Plasma is essentially invisible, in terms of both looks and feel. The thin, breathable stretch material of the chassis allows plenty of airflow, while the cut emphasizes rider comfort.
“This new Tech-Air 5 Plasma checks all the boxes in terms of being lighter weight, lower profile, more breathable, far more comfortable, and user-serviceable, without compromising on protection,” says Brent Jaswinski, Alpinestars Sales Communications Manager. “It’s never been easier or more convenient to enjoy the ride, knowing you’re protected.”
All of those features are great, but it’s the airbag system itself that really makes a difference. The Tech-Air 5 Plasma, like all the systems in the Tech-Air line, is fully autonomous, meaning there’s no tether or other connection to the motorcycle. Its internal tri-axial sensors, including accelerometers and gyroscopes, know when a crash is imminent, and the airbag is deployed ahead of the initial impact to shield the chest, back, shoulders, collarbones, and upper arms.
Even on the street, not all riding styles are the same. Plus, riders who participate in track

days or have dual-sport motorcycles will ride differently based on where they are. That’s why the Tech-Air 5 Plasma has three selectable algorithms, including street, race and off-road.
The street algorithm is optimized for street use, including monitoring and deployment while stopped, such as in heavy traffic or at a light. The race algorithm is for closed-course track use, while the off-road option takes the harsher terrain into consideration. ■

Small changes add up to make a big difference when it comes to windshields. The size, shape and even materials used can all affect how well a windshield does its job. With 47 years of experience to its name, GIVI has a range of windshields that offer outstanding wind protection, clarity and durability.
GIVI offers clear, smoked and sports windshields. All of them are crafted from Plexiglas acrylic, which provides a clear view while still providing a high level of durability.
Most GIVI replacement windshields are designed to be a direct OEM replacement, utilizing the stock mounting points. Making a significant windshield upgrade is no hassle, so riders can get back on the road – or off of it – in no time.
The most popular GIVI replacement windshields are the clear version. They are often taller and slightly wider than stock shields, and their profile is designed for improved air deflection. Some fitments are as much as 12 inches taller than their OEM counterpart.
“This form of added wind protection guarantees vast improvements against potential wind buffeting and possible wind noise, especially around the helmet area, ensuring a far more pleasurable riding experience,” explains GIVI USA’s Paul Collins.
Adventure-Touring riders appreciate the benefits of a clear GIVI windshield, and popular fitments include the BMW R1300GS, Honda NC750X, XL750 Transalp and
Africa Twin models, Suzuki V-Strom 800 and Triumph Tiger 900/1200 models.
Riders in the Adventure-Touring world have high expectations for the parts they put on their bikes, and they want a windshield that will be up to the task.
“GIVI’s lengthy experience with ADV riders, and their dedication to motorcycle riding in all weathers and terrains, has created a need for quality, durable, effective aftermarket accessories, like our proven clear windshield range,” notes Collins. “With added wind protection enhancing comfort, optimal clarity ensuring maximum visibility in any conditions, and quality in fit, finish and durability, the GIVI clear windshield range is a perfect solution for the rigors of Adventure riding.”
The GIVI smoked replacement windshield range guards against the wind as well as the sun’s glare. These windshields are typically similar in size to OEM windshields, or slightly taller. For riders who want to have a sportier look, the GIVI sports replacement windshields are generally shorter than stock and offer a stylish, aerodynamic solution. The sports shields are available in a smoked or matte black finish.
GIVI has a number of new fitments for its shields this year, including the BMW F900GS, Honda NX500, Moto Guzzi V85TT and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. ■

the 60S provide an even wider dynamic range than its predecessor, the 50S. Riders will experience enhanced sound quality and less wind/road noise interference, even at high speeds. The new 60S motorcycle helmet communication system is for riders who want seamless connectivity and premium audio performance.
“The 60S is Sena’s most advanced motorcycle communication device to date,” adds Dr. Brad Ahn, PhD., Chief Technical Officer at Sena Technologies. “I’m proud of the work our teams have poured into the 60S, which not only strengthens the Mesh connection between riders in a group, with more communication clarity and premium sound output, but is also capable of connecting riders around the globe through WAVE Intercom.” ■

Millimeters can lead to minutes when it comes to motocross. Today’s machines and riders are so refined that every adjustment is critical and acts as a function in the overall formula of speed and competition. The team at XTRIG are no strangers to producing precision racing products, including holeshot devices.
With fierce competition at any level of motocross racing, the start sets the tone for the race. Holeshot devices have become a staple among riders everywhere, but they’re not all created equal. Advancements in horsepower, handling and suspension have demanded a solution to keep the front wheel on the ground when the gate drops, and XTRIG has two options to fit your customers.
Depending on their needs, riders can choose from XTRIG’s single-button holeshot device or its HiLo holeshot device. Focusing on the single-button system first, it delivers all
the benefits of a traditional holeshot device in a precise, high-quality package. Riders can set the button at their desired depth on their fork guard and the device preloads the front suspension to lower the center of gravity. The single-button system is simple to use and effective on the track with precise machining that ensures a secure clamp, helping riders focus on hitting their marks and not worry about if their holeshot device will hold.
While holeshot devices provide a major benefit, different dirt and track conditions can call for different depth settings when preloading the forks. This phenomenon led to XTRIG’s proprietary HiLo holeshot device featuring a design that allows riders to easily choose between two different clamp settings 12mm apart.
“The ultimate goal of having two different depth options in a holeshot device is to maximize traction on the start across varying conditions. The better the traction, the more power to the ground and the more likely riders are to enter the first corner ahead of the pack,” said Rick Green, General Manager for Technical Touch USA, official XTRIG importer. “The XTRIG HiLo holeshot device can give riders everywhere these benefits that were meticulously developed with professional race teams.”
Whether your customers choose the single-button device or opt for the HiLo, they can be sure they’re getting the

detailed and premium construction XTRIG is known for. Plus, each system is simple and easy to install, including detailed instructions and a mounting template to make for a quick and pain-free garage project. Each XTRIG holeshot device is compatible with a wide range of all popular dirt bike models. ■

When actor, director and motorcycle enthusiast Perry King recently stopped to chat about his latest adventures in motorcycling, he was in the middle of nowhere, New Mexico. Keeping track of King is no easy feat; between his home in Los Angeles, his cattle ranch in Northern California and a long list of motorcycles, there’s no telling where he’ll pop up next.
Just don’t call his stable of motorcycles and sidecars a collection. “People who collect them keep them pristine and don’t ride them. Everything I have I use,” King is quick to note. In fact, he prefers a Suzuki DRZ 400 for herding his cows.
King is best known for his acting and directing work, with more than 100 credits to his name. Among his body of work are starring roles in The Possession of Joel Delaney and the 1980s TV series Riptide, and he both starred in and directed the critically acclaimed movie The Divide in 2018. The movie, a compassionate exploration of Alzheimer’s, earned a number of awards.
While King’s entertainment career grew, so did his involvement in motorcycling. In addition to riding, he’s been on the AMA Board of Directors, and he emcees the annual AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.
Lately, King has been logging miles on his 2012 Triumph Bonneville, which is equipped with a set of Avon TrekRider tires. He’ll roll out of his driveway in L.A. and wind up wherever the road – paved or not – leads.
“I’ll hop on that bike, and I won’t know where I’m going. If I knew where I was going to go, I wouldn’t bother to go there,” says the 76-yearold King.
That “go anywhere” attitude is possible thanks to the Avon TrekRider tires on the Bonneville.
King says, “I like that it looks just like a street bike, but with those tires, when I see a dirt road going off into the hills, I can take it. Those tires let me ride the way I grew up loving to ride –anything and everything. The type of riding I prefer is dual-sport or Adventure riding. You can go wherever you want to go.”
The Bonneville has a special place in King’s heart, since it once belonged to one of his best friends, Michael McGuire. “The last years of his life, he couldn’t ride anymore,” King says. “After he died and he left me this bike, I named it Michael. Now I can go in my garage and say, ‘Come on, Michael, let’s go for a ride.’”
King calls the Avon TrekRider tires the most perfect 50/50 tires he’s ever tried. “When these Avons wear out on my Bonneville, I plan to put another set of them on right away. I can’t think of a greater compliment to give a set of tires than that,” says King. ■

Removing old gaskets from clutch covers, stator covers and cylinder bases can be a tedious task, but if it’s not done properly, you could gouge the part or end up with a leak. Luckily, the tool techs at Motion Pro developed the Gasket Scraper, which is optimized to do exactly what the name suggests.
The Gasket Scraper’s machinedaluminum handle fits the hand nicely and places a scraping blade at the ideal angle for delicate work. The long-yet-narrow blade slides along mating surfaces while slipping under gaskets. Speaking of blades, the tool comes with two: A brass blade that’s gentler on soft aluminum engine cases, and a steel blade for those baked-on and stubborn paper gaskets. Whichever blade isn’t in use can be stored in a slot
in the Gasket Scraper’s handle, and the whole tool slides into a tube for safe keeping.
Razor blades, putty knives and other ad hoc options can take a seat, because the Gasket Scraper is specifically designed for the task. “This is the right tool for the job,” says Eric Clay, Motion Pro’s resident product expert. “It makes removing old gaskets easier and helps reduce the risk of damage to engine cases and other parts.”
Clean, undamaged surfaces are what gaskets need to do their job, and with the Gasket Scraper the job of prepping those cylinders and engine covers has never been easier. ■

Although chains are a core part of Regina Chain’s powersports business, the brand manufactures more than high-quality, race-proven motorcycle drive chains. But what some may not know is that Regina also offers convenient all-in-one OEM replacement chain and sprocket kits for select motorcycles and ATVs.
Each Chain Kit combines a Regina Professional-grade chain with a heattreated front countershaft sprocket and induction-hardened rear sprocket. Each chain is pre-cut to the same number of links as stock, with the same number of teeth on the sprockets, for direct OEM configuration replacement of the stock chain and sprockets.
Regina Chain Kits simplify replacing the stock chain and sprockets on your customers’ rides. No counting links on the stock chain or counting teeth on the sprockets. Order
one SKU for the make and model needed, and everything necessary for a direct stock gearing chain and sprockets replacement is included. Kits are currently available for select motorcycle and ATV models.
“Our Chain Kits are an economical solution for professionals and everyday end-users,” says Federico Gualdi, Motorcycle Division Sales Director for Regina Chain. “No wasted time cutting the chain to the right size, no risk of making a mistake and no need to purchase any extra links. Our kits have everything in one box under a single SKU instead of three. These chain kits are game changers that simplify chain and sprocket replacements.” ■

maller bikes need proportional luggage. NelsonRigg’s Commuter luggage fits all sportbikes, Sport-Touring models and even some lightweight cruisers, and the collection includes two tank bags, three tail bags, saddlebags, and a cellphone holder.
Each piece is constructed from Nelson-Rigg’s proprietary Ultramax fabric. This rugged fabric won’t fade, and its guaranteed colorfastness is covered by the company’s Lifetime Warranty. The tank and tail bags, plus the saddlebags, also include a waterproof rain cover.
A highlight of the Commuter luggage collection is the dualmount tank bags. Both the Sport (8.4L) and Lite (14.5L) bags have integrated magnets and straps for mounting to a metal or plastic tank. This is ideal for riders with multiple bikes.
It’s also ideal for dealers. “Our goal is to not only design beautiful, quality products, but to maximize a rider’s investment and minimize the dealer’s SKU inventory,” says Nelson-Rigg’s Deb Drinan.
The tank bags pair well with any of the three tail bags, including the Lite (15.32L), Sport (22.26L) and Touring (33.04L). If a

When upgrading a motorcycle’s front or rear brake system, one of the first things to consider is trading the OEM brake line for a stainless steel unit like those from GBrakes. The stock rubber brake lines found on most dirt and street bikes can expand and deteriorate over time, leading to a soft, spongy feel and reduced brake control at the lever or pedal.
GBrakes brake lines may look similar to the stock units, yet each stainless-steel line uses a DuPont virgin-grade (never recycled) PTFE Teflon inner core material wrapped with 64-strand braided stainless steel mesh. Each line uses high-quality banjo bolt fittings, the same as those used by Ducati, KTM, and other high-end motorsports manufacturers, with many top teams and racers trusting GBrakes’ race-proven brake lines.
GBrakes designs and builds each stainless steel brake line in the USA and backs them with a lifetime warranty. Kits include necessary mounting hardware, extra washers, line-end labeling and bike-specific installation instructions. Off-road brake lines include a heavy-duty

DP Brakes recently introduced a new line of titanium rear brake caliper pistons for motocross and off-road bikes designed to decrease rear brake fade and enhance stopping performance. With mud, dust, sand, water crossings and other harsh conditions inherent to riding and racing off-road, brakes can quickly overheat, fade and begin squeaking. DP developed its titanium rear brake caliper pistons to address this common setback.
Each titanium rear brake caliper piston is castellated (grooved), drilled for ventilation, and chamfered to reduce the contact area with hot brake pads. Internal radial cooling fins increase the piston’s surface area to maximize heat transfer and keep the brake fluid cooler. Each titanium piston is diamond burnished and Nitron MC black carbon coated for a super-smooth, low-friction sur-
face. DP makes dealer inventory simple, with only three SKUs covering a wide range of fitments for most Japanese and European dirt bikes.
“We’re proud and excited to introduce this new line of titanium rear brake caliper pistons for motocross and off-road bikes,” says Larry Mills, President of DP Brakes and Clutches North America. “After extensive testing with top motocross and off-road teams and riders around the world, including Randy Hawkins’ AmPro Yamaha Factory Off-Road Team, DP can offer off-road riders a competitive advantage. These new Titanium Caliper Pistons are engineered for ultimate precision and responsiveness to give riders maximum control on the track or trail.” ■
