NVP, ATV & UTV

Get ready! The doors open at the Baird Center in Milwaukee on September 6th for the Summer edition of LeMans’ semi-annual North American NVP Product Expos. To help you prepare, we’ve been contacting numerous Parts Unlimited vendors recently to see what they will be showing in Milwaukee, so be sure to check out the 8-page NVP Product Expo Preview beginning on page 24. This is just a sampling, of course, of the many impressive vendor displays you will see as you circulate around the show hall.

In addition to grabbing those all-important show-only discounts, there will be other things going on in Milwaukee, including product training seminars, an end of the day Happy Hour on the show floor on Saturday, followed that evening by the annual “Meet & Greet” reception, this year in the Skyview Terrace right there at the Baird Center.

Also featured in this issue is a huge themed-section all about the four-wheel side of the industry with ATVs and side-by-side UTVs. Not only are there many exciting individual products, but we also featured

two complete side-by-side build projects, both which happen to be Can-Am Maverick X3s. Kicking off the ATV/UTV Special Section on page 56 is a Maverick X3 Turbo RR customized by a well-known maker of on-road lighting, Custom Dynamics. They now have a line of offroad lights being sold under the Custom Dynamics Off Road name, so to showcase their entry into the four-wheel off-road segment, they totally customized this beautiful Can-Am and outfitted it with their Shark Demon headlights.

Then, on page 70, you’ll find the other Can-Am Maverick X3, this one customized by Moose Offroad. Amazing how two vehicles can roll off the same assembly line at the Can-Am factory and yet look so different when creative people in the aftermarket get their hands on them. Come check out both of these exciting Can-Ams, and much more at the NVP in Milwaukee. ■

We hope to see you there!

Five

in a Row for Herrin

REIGNING AMA SUPERBIKE CHAMPION TAKES THE LEAD

Parts Unlimited/Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati’s Josh Herrin really kicked things up a notch in the last three rounds of the 2025 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, stringing together five wins in a row.

The two-time AMA Superbike Champion’s streak started back in June at Road America when he won race one, his first Superbike victory of the season and the 17th of his career. Not a bad way to cap a week that also included the birth of his twin girls. Herrin followed that up the next day with another win, completing the doubleheader sweep at Elkhart Lake.

“So, super happy with how the week went,” Herrin said after his second win. “I got two babies and two wins, so can’t ask for anything more than that.”

A few weeks later the whole MotoAmerica show rolled into Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington where Herrin put in another master class in racing. In race one, he emerged from a race-long battle with Tytlers Cycle Racing’s Cameron Beaubier with his third straight MotoAmerica Superbike victory. The win on Saturday at Ridge Motorsports

Herrin started his win streak with a doubleheader sweep at Road America.

Park was Herrin’s third MotoAmerica Superbike win in a row, a career first for the defending series champion.

Prior to race one, Josh Herrin had never won three Superbike races in a row. The next day, he made it four straight, with a dominating victory in the Pacific Northwest. “Four wins in a row is huge,” Herrin said after the milestone.

Two weeks later, Herrin won his fifth straight MotoAmerica Superbike race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in race one, taking full advantage of a miscue by his championship rival Cameron Beaubier to battle it out with Bobby Fong for the win.

As of press time, Herrin held the championship points lead by 21 points over Beaubier. ■

Chapter One: Just the Beginning

LACHLAN TURNER KEEPS HER EYES ON THE PRIZE (AND BEYOND!) MOOSE OFFROAD-BACKED RIDER TURNS UP THE HEAT

Lachlan Turner, or “Lala,” as she is known, ruled the Women’s Motocross (WMX) Championship in 2024, and is proving even tougher to beat in 2025. At the halfway point in the current season, the defending champion has only let one moto win slip through her fingers, and the Moose Offroad athlete is on track to successfully defend her No. 1 plate with another win streak.

The 18-year-old is relatively new to the entire sport of motocross, only having started about six years ago when her brother, Lux Turner, also began racing. Her raw talent elevated her to the top of the sport in a short span of time, and it’s even more surprising to hear her admit she doesn’t ride that often – only on weekends when her parents could take her to the track. But her plans for the future loom much larger than the six-round Women’s Motocross Championship she’s already dominating. Talk to Lala about her aspirations, and see her light up when the “S-word” comes up – Supercross.

“They said if I’m up to speed by January I’m going to race SMX (SuperMotocross),” said Lala. “For 2026, I definitely want to do most of the combines in the SMX (Supercross Futures AMA National Championship). That’d be so sick.”

As part of the Moose Offroadbacked Altus Motorsports bLU cRU Yamaha Amateur Team, Lala has a solid support program behind her, eager to see the heights she may be able to climb to. The first part of the plan is to train full-time, something the young champion has surprisingly never had the opportunity to do.

“I just started training full time at ClubMX,” said Lala. “I used to just go from couch to racing on the weekend, so it’s pretty cool to actually be riding during the week. It’s definitely helping me a lot. It’s amazing. Everyone’s really positive. Everyone tries to help you. It’s just good to be there, for me.

“I’m going to work my butt off this summer, after all these little races (the rest of the WMX season), I’ll start training for Supercross. I just want to be up to speed.”

While a woman competing in Supercross would be groundbreaking, Lachlan Turner isn’t necessarily setting out to shatter glass ceilings. Nor does she see herself as any different from other aspiring racers. She simply wants to be on the largest stage possible, racing against the best. “I like racing with people that can push me,” she explained in a recent podcast. “The girls are my speed, and I battle with them, but I like people that can push me and are way faster than me.”

When asked what it’s going to take to accomplish her goals, and becoming the first woman to compete in SMX, Lala replied, “Probably just believing in myself and knowing that I can do it. Like I’m just like anyone else trying to go for a dream. If you really want to do it, just put your mind to it and make it happen.” ■

11TH ANNUAL KURT CASELLI FOUNDATION MOTODOFFO FUNDRAISER

In early June, the 11th Annual Kurt Caselli Foundation MotoDoffo event brought the off-road community together at Doffo Winery in Temecula, California, for a powerful day of tribute and purpose. Supporters gathered to honor Kurt Caselli’s legacy and raise funds for the Kurt Caselli Foundation’s ongoing safety initiatives and educational scholarships.

Since it was launched in 2013 to honor the late off-road champion, the KCF has raised more than $2.6 million, and has invested $2.4 million back into the off-road community. The organization has also awarded $179,000 in educational scholarships to 60 racers.

The focus of the foundation is the safety of riders and racers in the off-road motorcycling industry. The foundation has a three-part mission that encompasses safety precautions for riders before, during, and after a racing career.

THOSE THREE PARTS ARE:

1. Before racing, the KCF is committed to encouraging, developing, and standardizing safety precautions that will help minimize risk outside of the rider’s control.

2. During racing, the KCF is committed to developing, establishing, and encouraging the use of safety equipment and policies to increase the safety of the riders.

3. After racing, the KCF is committed to providing a safety net that allows and encourages former racers to further their education and reach career goals for themselves and their families. ■

Build. Train. Race. 2025 Season Update

THIRD ROUND OF SEASON SHOWCASES EMERGING TALENT

The Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. (BTR) Road Program hosted the third round of its 2025 season at the Ridge Motorsports Park the first weekend in July in Shelton, Washington. The racers were in mid-season form as they competed in three races over the weekend to make up for a cancelled race in Alabama in April. With picturesque skies, a beautiful racetrack and fans energized to cheer the riders on, there was no shortage of excitement along the way.

In the first race of the weekend, Kira Knebel kept her excellent season rolling, winning the eight-lap race by 7.52 seconds. In a tight battle for second place, Shea MacGregor edged out Miranda Cain to round out the podium.

On the second day of racing, Knebel scored another win with a commanding lead of 33.9 seconds. Camille Conrad was next in line in second place, with MacGregor close behind.

In the third and final race, Knebel completed a sweep of the weekend at The Ridge with Cain and MacGregor next in line. Outside of the race results, all of the riders have shown marked improvement as the season has continued, with many earning their best finish times to date.

“This weekend was packed with a full schedule of racing, and it certainly lived up to the hype,” said Adrian Sellers, Head - Custom & Motorsport at Royal Enfield. “This is a very technical track and the returning BTR racers really took the time to help, support and guide the new riders.

“Outside of the race results, all of our BTR riders have grown so much as competitors in large part because of their willingness to support and push one another. Everyone has made great strides this season and we’re looking forward to a strong finish to the season in August.”

Parts Unlimited is a sponsor of the series, now in its sixth year. The program continues to welcome women from all backgrounds and experience levels into the racing community for the opportunity to travel the United States to build and race custom Royal Enfield motorcycles.

For the final BTR Road Race of the season, riders were headed to Alton, Virginia at the Virginia International Raceway the first week of August. BTR’s Flat Track program has two more events scheduled this season, including a September 14th Race at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri. ■

Pro Motocross Championship 2025

THOR’S HAIDEN DEEGAN DEFENDS 250CC TITLE Align Media photos

Parts Unlimited/THOR sponsors racers all over so they have some of the best riders in the world to help test, develop and showcase THOR racewear. The American Pro Motocross and the World SuperMotocross Championships have a huge fan-base attending the races and watching the live telecasts on Peacock. Here’s an update on the 2025 Pro Motocross season.

Haiden Deegan #1 – 250cc Pro Motocross Championship (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) is still a teenager and has already amassed enough racing titles to put him in the Hall of Fame. In only his third year as a professional racer his record includes: SuperMotocross World Championships – 2-time 250cc SMX Champion (2023, 2024); 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship – 250cc Champion; 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – 250cc SX West Champion.

THOR rider Deegan now finds himself defending his 2024 250cc Pro Motocross Championship. In his first eight motocross events of 2025 he has already recorded five overall victories, two second place finishes and a fifth overall.

As of press time, he already has a 45-point lead over his nearest rival. To put it in perspective, a rider earns 25 points for each moto. At this point, Deegan could completely skip one moto and still have a 20-point lead in the title chase for the 250cc Pro Motocross Championship.

Deegan was the heavy favorite going into the series to defend his title, and he’s dominating tracks that most riders struggle with. Take his 1-1 victory on the hot sand track at Southwick. He not only went 1-1 for the undisputed overall victory but led both motos from start to finish with a 25 second lead in the first moto and another double-digit lead in the second. His work ethic and willingness to target and fix his weak points is turning him into a rider without any weak points. He’s close to being unbeatable in the 250cc class.

He only had one bad moto, his first at RedBud, where he raced with a leg injury suffered in a qualifying crash. Despite everything, he went limping into the second moto and put in a heroic ride for a second-place finish and fifth overall.

THOR/Yamaha Star Racing rider

Haiden Deegan has had a strong 2025 motocross season, recording five overall victories, two second place finishes and a fifth overall. That stellar record had him with a 45-point lead as of press time.

The next round at Spring Creek was only a week later and Haiden was still visibly limping. “I didn’t get to ride the bike this week and spent a lot of time working on my leg,” Deegan told track-side reporter Jason Thomas. “It is what it is” was all he had to say about the injury. He took the win in moto one and second in moto two for the overall victory and a big bump in the points lead for the championship.

A bonus that day was fellow Star Racing Yamaha rider, Jeremy Martin (also a THOR rider) taking second overall with a 3-1 in what was the last race of his stellar career. The Martin family runs the Spring Creek National and Jeremy grew up 100 yards away from the track. He won two 250cc Pro Motocross Championships in 2014 and 2015, and fittingly won the last moto of his career on his home track. Deegan was among the first to congratulate him.

Moving on to Washougal, Deegan was still walking with a limp and would only repeat what he said before when asked about the injury, “It is what it is.” After setting the fastest qualifying time Deegan went to the line in moto 1 and got a decent, but not great start. Coming through the pack from inside the top ten he began picking off riders and quickly found himself passing for the lead with Jo Shimoda. Shimoda dogged him for the rest of the moto, but Deegan held him off. On the podium interview he thanked the fans, his team and would only say, “Got one more to go today.”

With Haiden’s 1-2 for the overall, his points lead stayed the same. “It was a good day for championship points,” said Deegan on the post-race interview. “Now we got a two week break so its time to get back to work.”

Deegan has a 45 point lead with three rounds to go and going into the two week break he’s not going on a vacation, he’s going to work. He’s going to use the time to test, train and practice. Nothing is easy at the top level of professional motocross and it’s the work that the fans don’t see that makes winning look easy. Deagan also doesn’t complain about his minor or major injuries or make excuses. And as for opportunities, he created those opportunities by hard work on and off the bike, never giving up, winning and giving credit to his team and sponsors and fans.

Deegan is currently leading the 250cc Pro Motocross Championship with three races to go and he leads the 250cc SuperMotocross Championship with three play-off races on the schedule. If he wins both those titles again, he’ll have won every championship series he entered in the 250cc class in 2025. Dominance. “It is what it is.”

Parts Magazine wishes Deegan the best as he battles to defend his title! ■

Just three years into his professional racing career and THOR/ Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan has racked up an impressive number of championships. This season, he’s defending his 2024 250cc Pro

Championship title, and was leading going into the three final races.

Motocross
THOR/Star Racing Yamaha rider Jeremy Martin went out in style in the seventh round at Spring Creek MX Park, taking second overall with a 3-1 in the last race of his professional career. He fittingly won the last moto of his racing career at his home track.

2025 Season Summer Heat

TITLES AND RED PLATES FOR MOOSE OFFROAD RIDERS

As summer temperatures began to rise, the action also heated up in off-road racing across the country. As some series headed into the summer break, others have already reached their conclusions, such as U.S. Sprint Enduro and West Hare Scrambles Championships. In all cases, Moose Offroad-backed athletes are hoisting the trophies and claiming the red plates.

Liam Draper of the AmPro Yamaha team capped off the 2025 U.S. Sprint Enduro Series with a podium finish at the Harleywood Sprint Enduro, more than enough to claim the overall championship. Draper managed to put together a consistent season, finishing on the podium at all seven rounds to earn his first 450 championship.

The overall winner at the Harleywood finale was none other than Grant Davis. The FMF KTM Factory Racing Team Landers rider continues to win everything in sight, regardless of what class he’s in or what bike he’s on. Davis claimed the Pro 2 win on Saturday, and with the Pro 2 championship well in hand, then got on a 350 for Sunday’s race, which he handily won.

“I was struggling on the 250 a little bit on Saturday,” said Davis. “But today I got on the 350, my first race on it, and I’m pumped with how I did. It’s pretty sick to get my first day win and then win the overall.”

Several weeks prior, Davis strung together a pair of GNCC overall wins, taking the Hoosier and the Mason-Dixon rounds from second-row starts. At the latter, the Landers KTM rider even moved into the overall points lead – a tremendous feat for an XC2 250 Pro rider.

The Phoenix Racing Honda team also had a great showing at the Harleywood U.S. Sprint Enduro final, with Cody Barnes taking second overall, and JoJo Cunningham claiming the Pro-Am Championship with a remarkable sixth-place overall finish on the day.

Barnes is putting in the work in the GNCC Series, as well, locked in battle with fellow Moose Offroad rider Gus Riordan of the Landers KTM team. The Barnes/Riordan duo regularly puts on the show to watch, the two going at each other at

the Hoosier GNCC as well as at the Mason-Dixon. While Davis maintains a healthy XC2 championship lead, Barnes and Riordan are in a tight scrap for the XC2 podium, so far with Riordan holding the slight advantage as the series settles in for the summer break.

In the West, Jaden Dahners of the FMF RPM Racing KTM Team has caught fire in his 2025 season. Dahners was impressive at the Mount Shasta West Hare Scrambles round where he finished second overall en route to the Pro 250 win.

At the Great Escape Hare Scrambles season finale, Dahners took the last step up on the overall podium to claim the big win, a career first for the RPM KTM rider.

“You’ve got to believe in yourself, but I’m not a very serious guy,” said Dahners. “It was more banter between buddies, then I started thinking about it and thought I could do it here. I had a good ride here in 2022 or ‘23 maybe, but I decided this week to lie in bed and rest up and get myself ready for this.”

Dahners’ FMF RPM Racing KTM teammate Rachel Stout also found success at the West Hare Scrambles finale, where a podium finish locked up the Pro Women’s championship.

“I’ve been chasing this championship for a few years now and I’m stoked to have finally achieved it,” said Stout. “It’s

very cool to look back on my first race in this series and see all of the growth and progression over the years.”

Her shiny new number-one plate adds to the three championships she already has in the National Hare and Hound Series. She currently has her hand on a fourth desert championship. The battle for the 2025 National Hare and Hound Championship will resume after the summer break.

In the National Grand Prix Championship Series, FMF RPM Racing KTM’s Mason Semmens is still on a tear, claiming his fifth straight Pro II victory at round six in Marysville. The NGPC Series is also on break until the fall, where Moose Offroad’s Semmens will look to stitch up another championship.

On the National Enduro front, Chase Landers of the Landers KTM team is also riding some big momentum, continuing to string together podium finishes in the NEPro2 division. He finished second at the Flying W, with the championship still within reach, and plenty of points left on the table in 2025. Rachel Gutish has also enjoyed more victories in the National Enduro Women’s Elite division, the Rieju rider keeping herself at the pointy end of the field, and fending off the advances of challengers for the championship. Keep your eyes on this amazing group of talented riders as they battle for their respective championships! ■

2025 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship

FONG IS IN THE RUNNING WITH LAGUNA SECA SUCCESSES Brian J. Nelson photo

For the first half of the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, all the talk centered on Josh Herrin vs. Cameron Beaubier and Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati vs. Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW. That changed at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, thanks to Bobby Fong and his Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing YZF-R1.

The Laguna Seca round was a tripleheader, which meant the stars of the series would line up three times to do battle. It also meant that there were 75 points up for grabs. Going into the Monterey round, Herrin had an eight-point lead over Beaubier, and the rest of the pack were just talking points.

Enter Fong.

With the focus on the Herrin/Beaubier tussle, Fong was able to sneak in the back door. He came into the round fourth in points and 42 points behind Herrin and left the Monterey Peninsula 37 points adrift and third in the title chase. Not a huge points gain, but his two wins on Sunday made a statement. Fong is a force to be reckoned with.

The first race on Saturday was won by Herrin over Fong. Beaubier’s title hopes took a hit when he crashed out of the lead. He was fortunate to be able to remount and finish sixth to earn 10 points that might prove valuable down the road.

Herrin withstood Fong’s attack, including a last-lap, last-corner plunge that didn’t work.

With two races on Sunday, Beaubier had a chance to respond, but he just didn’t have the grip on his Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000RR to make it happen, and he was forced to finish a frustrated third in both races and watch the points gap to Herrin grow to 31 points – a 23-point swing.

That gap would have been even larger if not for Fong at least preventing Herrin from stretching his five-race win streak to what could have been seven straight wins. Fong, however, had the bit between his teeth, and you got the feeling that nothing was going to stop him from winning the two Sunday races, especially after he’d shown that he was capable of doing so in Sunday’s high-noon race two.

Fong’s teammate Jake Gagne is getting closer to being 100 percent physically as he continues to recuperate following his 2024 season of carpal tunnel misery. He sits fourth in the title chase after 3-5-4 finishes in the three races. He is now 22 points behind Fong. Gagne is also the only rider other than Herrin, Beaubier and Fong to win a Superbike race in 2025.

Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Richie Escalante had a weekend full of drama before the race even started with a vicious highside in practice. Escalante toughed it out with two fifth-place finishes and a sixth. He’s fourth in the championship, 52 points behind Gagne. ■

» The series was headed to VIRginia International Raceway at press time for round six of the title chase with Herrin, Beaubier and Fong leading the way.

I2025 NORTH AMERICAN NVP PRODUCT EXPO

MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN SEPTEMBER

6-7

* Food and beverages on the expo floor on Saturday and Sunday

t’s an autumn tradition – Parts Unlimited dealers and sales reps from around North America gather to get a long first look at the hot new aftermarket products hitting the shelves, and then return to their dealership with an advantage over the competition – and a jumpstart on the selling season.

The National Vendor Presentation is just that important, and, as the name implies, it’s the one place where Parts’ vast network of vendors showcase all the parts, accessories and apparel packed into the Parts Unlimited catalogs. In addition to this industry-leading first-look at new products, the NVP Product Expo is also ground zero for exclusive product training, a source for show-only discounts and incentives, and a hub for reconnecting with longtime industry friends and business partners.

For 2025, that special gathering gets kicked up a few notches as Parts Unlimited, Drag Specialties and Parts Canada once again team up to present the North American NVP Product Expo, a collaboration between the three

companies that promises to make the Baird Center the absolute epicenter of the V-Twin motorcycle aftermarket.

Parts Unlimited dealers can expect a revamped NVP experience with more incentives and discounts than at any previous NVP, and all dealer attendees will receive a free THOR backpack. There are also hourly giveaways on Sunday so plan that into your show-going schedule.

If that’s not a reason to pile into Milwaukee for the big show, check this out – the show will feature more than 320 exhibitor displays highlighting a huge range of products. Also, this year’s popular Meet & Greet/Bike Show features a “throwback theme” and attendees are encouraged to don an outfit with a vintage vibe and enjoy a great night of custom bikes, fun, food and drinks.

With that many features – and all of those vendors – packed into one weekend you won’t want to miss it so talk with your sales rep for details on how to attend if you haven’t already done so.

2026 Racewear Refreshed and Ready to Moto

Now that we’re halfway through 2025, THOR is grabbing gears heading into 2026 with continued progression and an evolution of its new apparel lineup. THOR’s 2026 collection stands out first and foremost with its leading-edge graphic work to complement its latest premium racewear line, SPORTMODE.

“Here comes 2026!” says Josh Shorter, Global Brand Director for THOR. “It’s been a wild 12 months since we initiated the rollout of our new THOR brand direction, including evolutions of color and graphic work. For this coming year, you will see a continuation of this momentous effort, including this Fall collection and through some key product launches in Spring 2026 as well. It’s kind of crazy to think that, even after a year of the new style, we still have a lot to show fans of the brand, we are not letting off the throttle any time soon!”

SPORTMODE is more than just another set of gear, it’s precision-designed racewear that excels in four major areas: performance, comfort, durability and design. Performance seems like a given with premium racewear, but that’s much easier said than done. THOR’s team never stops testing, learning and improving, and 2026 SPORTMODE is a testament to that.

Mobility is crucial for rider performance. Each fabric cut, panel design and material composition play into the overall package. Both the jerseys and pants feature a chassis constructed with four-way stretch material, including THOR’s proprietary In-Motion fabric, specifically in SPORTMODE pants. This type of chassis design means every curve, length and seam are designed to naturally move with riders’ bodies, keeping movement on the bike as unrestricted as possible.

With this type of precision chassis comes a precision fit and SPORTMODE naturally delivers an athletic fit that contributes to comfort, an important characteristic for riders to feel good about their gear and not be distracted by unruly baggy or boxy designs.

SPORTMODE pants feature what THOR calls ‘Race Spec’ sizing, meaning riders have more refined sizing options to achieve an exact fit. The pants’ ratchet waist closure system is precise and accentuated by a zipper-less waist opening. Plus, SPORTMODE is built with taped seams, collar and cuffs throughout, reducing skin irritation.

Comfort delivers in the summer months, too, thanks to laser-cut perforation in the pants and jersey designed to increase air flow without compromising durability.

That’s Motocross, Supercross and SuperMotocross champion Haiden Deegan hanging it out in the SPORTMODE Synth Black colorway.

Speaking of durability, it seems more riders than ever are seeking a balance of modern fit and high performance with quality that will hold up moto after moto. With premium materials and meticulous design aspects, SPORTMODE delivers that balance. Moto pants take a beating, but SPORTMODE pants are equipped with leather inner knee grip panels and Aramid fiber backing to handle some of the most wear-prone areas. Aramid is an exceptionally durable synthetic fiber known for its heat resistance and strength, making it a key tool in surviving grueling conditions of moto.

All these engineering and construction details are crucial to the standard that SPORTMODE sets, but what really

makes the first impression for customers is the design. Staying true to the brand’s updated and refined vision, THOR’s designers delivered an eye-catching balance of graphic elements and complementary colors throughout 2026 SPORTMODE offerings.

From a modern spin on classic moto with the League design options, to eye-catching brighter colors with the Synth graphics, your customers are sure to find a set or two that fit their race day vibe perfectly.

Your female customers and young rippers can enjoy the benefits of SPORTMODE as well. Featuring all the same premium materials and design features, SPORTMODE for women and youth have a chassis cut and are sewn specifically to achieve that same level of comfort, performance, durability and design specifically for female riders and youth riders, respectively.

“As of late, the Women’s Motocross Series has rejoined the AMA Motocross Nationals on the professional stage, while on the amateur side, we are seeing record turnouts of youth racers at both the local and national levels,” Shorter says. “THOR’s ever-expanding offerings continue to support all riders across the board, and this type of expansion requires gear that these athletes can rely on. SPORTMODE is here to elevate all racers’ needs.”

Of course, these moto ladies and kids have their choice of their favorite colorway, too, with dedicated designs for women and Synth carried over for youth. Whichever their favorite is, THOR will have them looking next-level out on the track.

This continuous improvement and evolution of SPORTMODE from THOR is a testament to its commitment to driving growth in the moto community. ■

BIG ADVENTURE ON A SMALL BIKE

Photos by Mark Johnson

Johnson equipped the

Trail-XT+

a great option for on and off-road use. “Proper tires for the conditions may be the single biggest upgrade available,” he says.

Most dealers in California’s Bay Area and Central Valley don’t need an introduction to Mark Johnson. After 33 years as a rep for Parts Unlimited, he’s well-known not just in his territory, but throughout the industry. Whether it’s chatting with dealers and vendors or participating in a Parts ride, just one conversation is all it takes to see how much Mark loves his job.

Mark has been a street and off-road rider for most of his life, and he’s built a lot of motorcycles for himself over the years. And yet, his latest bike build wasn’t for himself but for his wife, Thelma. She knew there was a lot of good Adventure riding to be found around California and other spots out West, and she wanted in on the fun.

Mark’s first task was to find a suitable bike for Thelma. He had built a GS many years before, so when he spotted a used BMW G 310 GS at Powersports of Modesto, he knew it would be a fun build for him and a good bike for Thelma.

When Mark saw video footage of Adventure riders, he noticed something about the heavier bikes. “It appeared that most riders struggled more with excess weight in the sandy sections more than anything else,” he says. “With that in mind, l looked at the lightweight category to build a bike for her. The G 310 GS, along with most of the lightweight models, is a little more biased to the street side than some of the larger models, such as the BMW Adventure series. With this in mind, I set out to create a motorcycle capable of tackling the toughest Adventure bike trips that we would encounter.”

The 2019 GS clearly needed some work, but its low mileage was one of the things that added to its appeal. Mark got to work compiling a list of parts to put on it. Not surprisingly, he turned to Parts Unlimited vendors to find the right components.

With one notable exception.

Mark had used SW-Motech products before, and he was so pleased with their quality and durability that he turned to them to complete the GS build. He paid retail for the parts, since he had no inside line to getting an industry discount.

The Bright Lights LED Side Shooter Light Cubes and Post Mounts make for a great auxiliary light setup.

The SW-Motech small SysBag is a great rugged, waterproof option for packing the essentials.

Sometimes it’s the little things that count, and the SWMotech Legend Gear Smartphone Bag helps keep a phone handy for tunes and navigation. It also features interior storage, perfect for the SW-Motech Multitool Key Chain.

On the GS, the number plate, SLC side carrier, center stand, PRO Micro tank bag, PRO tank ring, waterproof SysBags saddlebags, Legend Gear smartphone bag and multi-tool keychain are all SW-Motech parts.

“It’s an outstanding product line,” Mark says. “I’ve been dazzled by how well their stuff fits and how well thought out it is. They’ve been very helpful, and their stuff has just bolted up perfectly.”

That, however, wasn’t the end of the story. Throughout the process, SW-Motech wound up in talks with LeMans, and by the time the GS had been built, the company was on board as a Parts vendor. It was great news for Mark, who already had experience with the products and could share his insight with the dealers in his territory.

The SW-Motech luggage racks can accommodate a polished numberplate that snaps onto them. He got one for the GS, adding the number 101 to it. It’s the competition number used by two-time Dakar Rally winner Gaston Rahier. Mark chose it because Rahier was only 5´3˝—Thelma has 4 inches

on him, but it’s a nice reminder that even smaller riders can still tackle big adventures.

The bike is equipped with Mitas Enduro Trail-XT+ tires, which Mark reports are able to provide great traction during off-road riding without being annoying on the pavement.

For anyone looking to upgrade a motorcycle in the quickest, simplest way possible, he notes, “Proper tires for the conditions may be the single biggest upgrade available.”

Mitas had only recently become a Parts vendor when Mark chose the brand for the GS, and it was a great chance for him to test the tires out for himself. It’s something he enjoys doing regularly.

“Doing one of these every few years allows me to understand a new product better, show it to my dealers and build credibility with them,” he says of product testing.

“They know I have legitimate experience with it.”

Mitas might have been new to Mark, but DP Brakes is one of his longtime favorites. He didn’t hesitate to turn to that

Up front, the bike features SW-Motech’s Pro Micro Tank Bag mounted to the Pro Tank Ring.

company to make sure the GS had the right braking feel, performance and durability necessary for an Adventure bike.

The harsh conditions encountered during Adventure riding also called for a quality oil, and Mark trusted LIQUI MOLY for that. A reliable battery was necessary, too. Mark chose a BS Battery lithium battery, which provided a perfect blend of weight savings and higher cranking power.

The Moose Offroad 520 FB chain helps get power to the rear wheel, while Moose’s first-aid kit rides along as a “just in case.”

Brite Lites Side Shooter LED cube lights help boost nighttime illumination on the GS. One of the things Mark appreciates most about them is that they provide a strong beam focused on the road ahead, but the floodlight function is also outstanding. A close call on a hairpin turn during dusk many years ago taught Mark the value of having a superior light setup.

Having quick access to a phone is a must for most riders, and the GS also includes a phone mount from Ride Power. The ball-type mount can also keep a camera in place, and it offers a strong hold that won’t give way across rough terrain.

For Mark, one of the joys of building this bike was the chance to work with so many Parts vendors, though making those choices wasn’t the easiest. He says, “This has been great working with our vendors on this, and the hardest part was the availability of so many great products. This allowed me work with a couple of our newest vendors as well as some tried and true ones, like DP Brakes, Brite Lites and Moose.”

Mark is also quick to give a shoutout to the team at Powersports of Modesto as well as Daniel Martinez of Genesis Motorsports for their help getting the bike completed. Mark might be credited as the builder, but it was a team effort.

Mark built this G 310 GS for Thelma, but he says it’s right in line with what he’s seeing throughout the industry. “People are buying smaller bikes because they’re lighter, and you don’t need a big bike to go on an adventure. 500cc and under is the biggest segment right now in Adventure bike. The Adventure segment is still strong in general, but the growth segment in it is smaller bikes.” ■

» You can find the products that Mark used in this build in the Off-Road and Street catalogs, and at www.parts-unlimited. com. Ask your Parts rep about their personal bikes, and what products they’ve used in their latest builds.

Sportbike Tires for Every Type of Riding

Peak riding season is here, and for sportbike riders, it’s important to have the right tire to make the most of it. Pirelli has a sportbike tire choice for everyone, from the enthusiastic street rider to someone ready to sign up for track days. The Diablo Rosso IV, Diablo Rosso IV Corsa and Diablo Supercorsa SP-V4 are designed to offer the right amount of performance for the preferred riding style.

“At Pirelli, we know that not all sportbike riders are the same; some chase lap times while others carve canyons or commute through city streets,” said Brian Davenport, Pirelli Tires. “That’s why we’re committed to offering a full range of high-performance tires, each shaped by our racing heritage and engineered to bring that race-proven DNA to every ride.”

For those sportbike customers who really want to unleash their bikes’ capabilities, the Diablo Rosso IV has a slicker tread design that still features outstanding grip, handling and performance consistency.

Derived directly from Pirelli’s WSBK tire development and the racingspecific Diablo Supercorsa SC tire, the Diablo Supercorsa SP-V4 is ideal for riders who want a DOT tire that can easily handle track days.

It all starts with the Diablo Rosso IV, which is Pirelli’s supersport tire designed for road use. That means it offers excellent handling and feedback while also performing well in wet conditions.

The Diablo Rosso IV also has superb grip during braking and when at full lean through the corners. The structure of the tire is derived from Pirelli’s experience in WSBK, so it has the right amount of sportiness while still giving a rider confidence on the street. The multi-compound front and rear are both rich in silica for additional grip in all conditions.

Street riders who want to really test the capabilities of their sportbike can take things one step further with the Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa. This is a fiercer version of

the Diablo Rosso IV, featuring outstanding grip, handling and performance consistency. The slicker tread design offers higher grip in dry conditions, and because it’s focused on the central grooves, the shoulders are especially slick for outstanding cornering.

The dual compounds in the front and rear tires include a full silica compound in the center as well as a softer compound in the sides of the tire. The rear tire’s shoulders are 100 percent Carbon Black, which was developed for Pirelli’s racing tires. That feature combined with the multiradius profile design is ideal for precision cornering and direction changes.

The Diablo Supercorsa SP-V4 might be a street tire, but it’s directly derived from Pirelli’s WSBK tire development and the racing-specific Diablo Supercorsa SC tire. It’s ideal for riders who want a DOT tire that can easily handle track days. The tread pattern and profiles are identical to those found on the SC version of the tire, and the dual-compound front and rear tires add to the performance capabilities.

The slick shoulder area of the DIABLO Supercorsa SP-V4 provides an increased contact patch and grip when at full lean through the corners. The pattern is also designed for improved water displacement and reduced warm-up time, giving it the right blend of track performance and street reliability. ■

An Aerosol Icon

Do-all Spray with a Well-Earned Reputation

Hype deserves a healthy dose of skepticism. “But, when the excitement and appreciation for something is widespread, consistent, and totally organic, well then you just have a killer product on your hands,” says Maxima Brand Manager Trevor Reis.

That’s the case with Maxima’s SC1 High Gloss Coating, which was introduced in 2005 as a polish and surface protectant, but has since developed a reputation as one of the most useful aerosols your customers can have in their garage, truck or house.

Maxima’s SC1 is undeniably effective at its original purpose of spiffing up plastic and painted surfaces like gas tanks and fenders. In fact, shortly after its debut, it earned the nickname “New Bike in a Can.” This surface-tenacious formula is imbued with closelyguarded ingredients that revitalize a variety of finishes.

SC1 doesn’t just make surfaces look new, it also protects them by helping shed dirt, mud and water. SC1’s use quickly grew beyond its intended purpose. Off-road riders use it on the inside of their fenders and underside of their engines to prevent dirt and mud from sticking, and mechanics know it’s a great lube for installing grommets in bodywork or easing on stiff intake boots. It works equally well to lubricate electrical connectors and grabby zippers on jackets and backpacks

Soon, SC1 aficionados took SC1 outside the garage and paddock, and then beyond powersports to automotive,

household, RV, camping, industrial and even aviation uses.

With cars and trucks, SC1 is a terrific tire dressing and interior detailer that works great on leather and vinyl. Dashboards, center console trim and seats all love it. Gray-faded fenders and bumpers return to black, and SC1 works as well in the wheel wells of trucks as it does on the underside of dirt bike, ATV and UTV fenders.

Around the house, SC1 is an effective, dirt-defying lubricant for the tracks on closet doors and patio doors. Use it to quiet squeaky hinges and improve the suppleness of rubber weatherstripping. It’s even an impressive shoe polish, and it does wonders on belts and other leather products.

On boats it helps prevent salt buildup. In construction SC1 is an effective concrete-form release. For aviation, it helps keep bugs from collecting on aircraft windshields. It’s also a super-slick treatment for skis and snowboards, and so much more.

Maxima offers SC1 in a shop-size 12-ounce aerosol can and a travel-size 4-ounce can, so customers can take it with them everywhere. SC1 is so popular that Maxima has SC1 merchandise including T-shirts and water bottles. There’s even an SC1-scented air freshener. That’s because one of SC1’s claims to fame is a cherry aroma that makes it pleasant to use indoors. ■

Maxima’s SC1 High Gloss Coating isn’t just a toolbox and workshop hero, this versatile spray also serves as a lubricant, detailer, protectant, and, if need be, an impressive shoe polish.
The scent of SC1 is so distinct Maxima had that famous cherry aroma infused in an air-freshener. Yes, it really does smell that good.

Maxima Racing Oils leads the industry with its aerosol line with top selling products in all categories, it’s hard to overlook the strength of Maxima’s aerosol line. Delivering Grip, Handling and Durability Nailing the Niche

Hypersport tires have an especially difficult niche to fill. They need to offer excellent grip and handling that’s good enough for a track day, while also providing traction in the wet plus long life for everyday road use. It’s a tough balance to strike, but Avon hits the mark with the new 3D Supersport tire.

The 3D Supersport is the latest addition to Avon’s hypersport lineup and was developed on the track and road to give riders exceptional grip, handling and durability. Made at Goodyear’s motorcycle center in Montluçon, France, the 3D Supersport brings together grip and longevity that makes it a great fit for riders who want to extract every ounce of performance from their sportbikes.

Three key technologies make up 3D Supersport’s hypersport credentials. The most identifiable feature is the new tread pattern, which features an increased land-to-sea ratio that puts more rubber on the road for better grip, particularly at deep lean angles.

Handling is a top requirement for a hypersport tire, and the 3D Supersport’s track-developed construction optimizes responsiveness, stability and feedback. The highly tuned radial carcass balances support with compliance, ensuring great handling while braking, accelerating and cornering. While this tire is designed for riders who predominantly travel on the road, Avon’s development team carried out extensive on-track testing to ensure the 3D

Supersport delivers thrilling and consistent performance when pushing the limits at the track.

Balancing grip and longevity is one of a hypersport tire’s biggest challenges, and Avon approaches the problem head-on with a dual-compound tread cap. The rear tire features a more durable compound in the middle for increased mileage when riding upright and a softer compound on the edges, delivering better grip when cornering. Both the front and rear tires feature a generous dose of silica that improves warmup time, wet grip, and durability.

Professional stunt rider Rok Bagoroš has been riding on the new 3D Supersports, and agrees that it’s a great option for aggressive riding. “I use the 3Ds for everything I do – whether it’s street riding, stunt shows or pushing limits on the racetrack,” says Bagoroš. “The feedback is precise and consistent, which is especially important on the track and stunting, where I need predictable grip at all times. The Evolution of a Best-Selling Helmet

Sometimes, a good plan turns into a great one. When the team at ICON set out to build a carbon fiber version of the popular Airflite helmet, what emerged was an entirely new helmet platform. Now, the Ultraflite helmet combines the bold styling that made the Airflite a rider favorite with upgraded fit and performance features that bring it in line with the rest of ICON’s helmet lineup.

The tech-heavy Ultraflite includes perks like a re-engineered DropShield for easy transitions from day-to-night riding, compatibility with ICON’s HELMLINK Bluetooth communication system, and SpeedWing venting for outstanding airflow.

The Airflite paved the way with its distinctive look, which led to it becoming one of ICON’s best sellers. “The Airflite was built to incorporate a sense of movement and visual speed right into the shell profile. You see that in the sharp edges and angular lines. From the start, it was meant to

stand apart from everything else on the wall,” says ICON Senior Designer John Whitaker. “With the Ultraflite, we kept that same DNA, the silhouette, the presence, but focused on refining everything underneath.”

That refining meant improving the technical aspects of the helmet to provide a higher level of comfort and functionality. And, of course, the Ultraflite needed to offer the best guard possible against impacts.

“As far as merging style and safety, the balance is something we’re constantly working to perfect, and with the Ultraflite, that meant integrating real protection without compromising the helmet’s identity,” says Whitaker. “Riders come to ICON expecting a certain look – bold, aggressive, fast – and the challenge is making sure that look doesn’t come at the expense of performance.”

For the Ultraflite, the answer to combining the style of the Airflite with the most recent developments in helmet safety was including the MIPS system. This low-profile, low-friction layer between the shell and EPS liner allows the helmet to shift slightly relative to the head in an impact. That helps reduce rotational forces, which are a key player in many brain injuries.

The hidden, unobtrusive nature of MIPS allowed the Ultraflite to maintain all the style of its predecessor while keeping safety paramount.

Looks have always mattered when it comes to ICON helmets, and the Ultraflite offers everything from understated to impossible to miss. The Rizz Rizz graphics in white or black are simple, allowing the lines of the helmet, including the distinctive SpeedWing super-vent and futuristic UltraShield, to stand out.

For riders who prefer bold graphics, Whitaker says, “The new Doodle 3 brings back a fan-favorite style with a little more streetwise attitude.” The Misanthrope graphic is another typical ICON look, but wholly different from the Doodle 3 with its black-on-black style and aggressive art. ■

Tires for a Range of Conditions

Tires are a critical element in any form of motorcycle racing, and when it comes to off-road competition and motocross, both making traction and breaking traction are key in acceleration and handling. It takes a company with reliable know-how and strong R&D to develop tires that can perform under these ever-changing demands.

Mitas’ Terra Force-MX Sand 2 (rear only) features the increasingly popular scoop tread design and also has the hardest compound, best for handling loose terrain. Scoop tires are a popular trend right now among pro motocross fans as many top riders are choosing to run them.

ABOVE: Mitas motocross tires are color-coded by stripes for quick reference. The Terra Force MX SM features red and yellow stripes, which means the mid-soft compound option.

RIGHT: Those red and green stripes on the Terra Force MX MH denotes the softest tire compound, a perfect option for hard terrain.

Mitas (pronounced meet-us) is a European-based company that has long specialized in specialty segments such as aircraft, agricultural and construction vehicles, as well as motorcycles. Within motorcycling alone, Mitas develops tires for many forms of competition, from on-road to off-road, which covers motocross, enduro, flat track and even speedway.

“Our roots in motorsports run deep, dating back to 1947,” says Rob Walker, National Sales Manager North America, Mitas Motorcycle Tires. “Everything we develop comes from extensive in-house R&D with experienced racers and teams, and all our tires pass rigorous testing before we put them in customers hands. All of that is reflected in Mitas motocross tires, and racers who demand the best will feel the difference.”

Mitas motocross tires span a wide range of tread patterns and compounds so riders can find the right fit for their type of terrain. The Terra Force-MX MH (mid-hard) is built from a softer tread compound ideal for harder-pack or loose dirt over a hard base. The SM (mid-soft) features a medium/hard compound best for soft to medium terrain such as clay, mud or regularly prepped tracks.

The Terra Force-MX Sand (front) and Sand 2 (rear only) features the increasingly popular scoop tread design and also features the hardest compound, best for handling

loose terrain. Scoop tires have taller knobs that are spaced farther apart and feature a directional paddle-style pattern that is very effective on muddy and/or sand-based tracks. They are not for everyone, since the design offers less versatility across mixed terrain, but scoop tires are a popular trend right now among Pro Motocross fans as many top riders are choosing to run them. Be sure to tell your motohead customers about scoop tire options from Mitas.

Mitas motocross tires are color-coded by stripe markings for quick reference. The double red stripe denotes the hardest compound built for the softest terrain, in this case the Sand and Sand 2. The red and yellow stripes denote the SM (midsoft) option while the red and green indicate the softest compound which is best suited to hard terrain, the MH tires.

The Mitas Terra Force-MX tire range covers sizing for bikes from 65cc all the way up to 450cc, both front and rear options. Mitas also has a full range of UHD tubes, an ideal upsell with a new tire purchase. ■

CUSTOM DYNAMICS OFF ROAD

EXCLUSIVE SXS & UTV LIGHTING

Things have come full circle for the Shark Demon headlights from Custom Dynamics. Originally designed as off-road inspired lights for V-Twins, the lights are now available for side-by-side applications under the name Custom Dynamics Off Road.

The Shark Demon headlights made their debut in 2024. After seeing V-Twin riders put lights designed for off-road use onto their motorcycles, Custom Dynamics decided to blend the off-road look with street-savvy functionality. Riders got the look they wanted while still having DOT/ SAE-compliant lights that cast a brilliant LED beam down the road.

Finding out that the Shark Demon lights both looked and functioned great on a side-by-side was a bit of an accident. Custom Dynamics Chief Sales Officer Rob Bluma was building a 2023 Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo RR for what he calls a pure vanity project, and he thought the Shark Demons might look good on it. He was right, but the Shark Demon headlights provided more than style.

A perk of the purpose-built Shark Demon lights is the fact that, unlike many off-road lights, they offer both highbeam and low-beam options. The low beam is comprised of six projection LEDs and eight direct-reflective LEDs, which produce 11,314 raw/5554 effective lumens. The

Known for its popular V-Twin lighting products, Custom Dynamics has launched an exclusive line of LED lights for the side-by-side and UTV market. Custom Dynamics Off Road’s Rob Bluma built this Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo RR as a rolling showcase for the range.

high beam’s intensity comes from adding eight more direct-reflective LEDs to create a beam with an impressive 22,274 raw/8634 effective lumens.

According to Dan Cheeseman, Development & Strategy for Custom Dynamics, the high/low feature wound up being great for side-by-side use. “We found out it works awesome, because if you’re riding at dusk or dawn, too much light can be a bad thing,” Cheeseman says. “Having that high-low function is different for the off-road market, but works really great.”

To toggle the lights between the beams, a three-position rocker switch is included for mounting to the dash of a sideby-side. Bluma notes that while some headlights position “off” in the middle of the switch, that’s not the case here.

“With the Shark Demon, there’s no loss of light between high and low because off isn’t in the middle,” he explains.

“The switches fit into the OEM dash ports. Off is at the bottom, then low to high. The switch was designed to be as quality as the light itself.”

Bluma’s X3 features both yellow and white Shark Demon headlights. The yellow beams are SAE compliant, meaning they meet the same standards that car manufacturers are held to. Whether it’s fog or trail dust, the yellow lights are

able to provide a lower level of illumination that doesn’t bounce off particles in the air.

In addition to the high/low option, there was another clear benefit to adding a set of Shark Demon headlights to a side-by-side. “They look great and function awesome in an off-road environment because they’re a focused driving beam: they put the light where you want it,” says Cheeseman.

That makes these headlights especially good for trail riding, where riders need a clear look at what’s coming at them. While the Shark Demons were designed to light up the width of a road, they’re great at lighting up the width of a trail, too.

The Shark Demon’s “ditch-to-ditch” illumination is a hallmark of Custom Dynamics lighting products. Riders can see more of the road, not just directly ahead of them, but in a wider side-to-side range for improved visibility.

The Shark Demon lights that mount to SXS machines are the same as the ones that go on V-Twins, but the brackets are a whole new design. The brackets allow for a lot of options when it comes to where the lights mount, whether that’s on a light bar, on a bumper or anywhere else a little extra illumination can fit. Slots on the mounts allow for additional adjustability.

Custom Dynamics Off Road’s front LED turn signals provide a bright white running light and an amber turn signal.
Custom Dynamics Off Road’s LED license plate frame is a great plug-and-play upgrade.
The Shark Demon lights not only provide brilliant LED illumination, they are built for the rigors of off-road driving.

The stainless steel bracket is made for outstanding durability, so it will hold steady even during the toughest of rides. The mounting bracket and a 6-foot universal wiring harness come with each set of Shark Demon headlights. Another thing that’s included is the Custom Dynamics warranty, which guarantees the products.

Custom Dynamics has been making SXS products for a while now, but the company has been doing so without a lot of fanfare. Most of the products are designed for states where SXS vehicles can get street-legal status with just a few tweaks, like the Custom Dynamics turn signal kit and lighted license plate mount.

“Everyone wants cool off-road lights, but everyone in the street-legal states needs the kits. For dealers in those states, that’s a revenue stream,” notes Cheeseman.

Plus, some of the things the team at Custom Dynamics learned with those initial products wound up being helpful when it came to designing the side-by-side applications for the Shark Demon headlights.

The turn signal kits include a lever that mounts to the steering column, so engaging the turn signals is the same movement one would do in a car. That sort of intuitive design came into play with the rocker switch layout for the Shark Demons.

In addition to the Custom Dynamics/Custom Dynamics Off Road products on Bluma’s X3, there are plenty of parts from other companies, too. “Once the industry found out we had one of these, everyone really wanted to participate,” Bluma says.

Performance Machine Off-Road was one of the biggest contributors to the build, adding items like wheels, a Big

Brake Kit and a radius rod. The Vance & Hines UTV exhaust system and BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires help with getting the X3 down the trail. A Moose Offroad billet shifter kit and door bag add to the looks and functionality, and the Hoppe Industries Audio Shade system makes sure things sound good.

Until now, Custom Dynamics has been best known for its VTwin products, and development in that segment has helped the company move further into the off-road scene. With the newly named Custom Dynamics Off Road division, Bluma says, “We’re taking our success in V-Twin and bringing it to this.”

Off-Road Oils that Go the Distance

The name of the team might be RISQ Racing, but there are certain risks drivers Emma Cornwell and Kaden Wells aren’t willing to take. When it comes to oils and lubricants for the RISQ Racing Can-Am Maverick R, Wells and Cornwell only trust LIQUI MOLY products.

What works for a streetbike isn’t the same as what works for off-road riding, and LIQUI MOLY has specialty oils to accommodate all types of riding. For off-road applications, there are four options to help get motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs down the trail.

LIQUI MOLY’s team of chemists designed the Motorbike 2T Synth Offroad Race oil for competitive riding styles. This fully synthetic oil provides maximum performance and protection, making it a great choice for racing applications. Engine components are protected from corrosion and deposits, and the high thermal stability is ideal for competitive riding.

That same racing-oriented performance can be found in both the Motorbike 4T Synth SAE 10W-60 Offroad Race

and Motorbike 4T Synth SAE 10W-50 Offroad Race oils for 4-stroke bikes. Engines stay clean and run smoothly, even under the most extreme operating conditions. Since friction and wear are reduced, these two oils make clutching and shifting easier, too.

Designed exclusively for ATV applications, ATV 4T SAE 5W50 is formulated for maximum engine performance and protection. Fully synthetic and designed for performance, this oil was developed and tested on racing machines, just like the other race oils available from the company. Friction and wear are both reduced to bolster longevity, and riders will be able to feel how smoothly the clutch and shifter operate because of these features.

For the past five years, Cornwell and Wells have been using LIQUI MOLY products on their side-by-side vehicles. The four-time Baja winners compete in the SCORE series, where they won every race they entered in 2024.

That kind of consistency comes through a blend of skill, strategy and a bit of luck. For RISQ Racing, it’s also about using the right products that can get their Maverick R to the finish line.

LIQUI MOLY’s MoS2 oil additive provides multiple benefits when added to motor oil, including the formation of a high-load-bearing film throughout the engine.

LIQUI MOLY’s team of chemists designed the company’s range of specialty oils to accommodate all types of uses. All are formulated to protect and perform even under the most extreme operating conditions.

“We go from 70 degrees to 112 at times,” says Wells. In those kinds of changeable – and sometimes extreme –conditions, peace of mind is another important part of success. Wells adds, “Being able to trust the car 100 percent and not be worried about the drivetrain or motors having issues is a big part in the race.”

For Wells, the proof of LIQUI MOLY oil quality can be seen every time an oil change is performed. He says, “With the stock fluids, you normally have a buildup on the magnet of the drain plug, and with LIQUI MOLY, it’s clean every time.”

While LIQUI MOLY oils give racers a performance boost, the knowledge garnered at the highest levels of competition

also provides plenty of data to help perfect formulations. The goal is always to provide customers with quality, durable oils that enhance performance and engine life.

“One of the things that’s unique and special about our race oils is they’re very consumer friendly. They can be used in your SXS and run at a standard service interval,” says Jason Hess, Business Development Manager, LIQUI MOLY Powersports Division. “Kaden and Emma can go race the Baja and win it, but on a consumer level, that oil can go in your weekend warrior car and still run the factory service interval with no negative effects.”

This dedication to providing customers – from pro racers to casual riders – with the highestquality oils has existed since the founding of LIQUI MOLY in 1957. In that year, entrepreneur Hans Henle acquired the brand name and the patent for the liquified version of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), better known as “liqui moly.”

MoS2 is very adhesive to the metal parts, and it provides lubrication even in case of a sudden loss of oil pressure or under extreme operating conditions.

LIQUI MOLY’s MoS2 oil additive is derived from that original product, and RISQ Racing relies on it. This additive provides multiple benefits when added to motor oil, including the formation of a high-load-bearing film throughout the engine. This film enhances cold start protection, reduces heat-related wear and can help prevent serious engine damage in the event of an unexpected failure on the trail.

Wells recalls a time when it played a big role in a race. “Three years ago, we poked a hole in our valve cover and ran 80 miles,” he says. In addition to MoS2, “We added oil and made it to the finish.”

In the 1970s, LIQUI MOLY began to expand outside its home country of Germany, adding international distribution to several other European countries before arriving in South America and other locations throughout the world. At the same time, the company was expanding its product offerings to create the robust selection available today. LIQUI MOLY truly delivers products customers can trust to protect their machine in even the toughest conditions. ■

Kenda developed the Cross Trail at its Tech Center in Canton, Ohio. The tire uses Kenda’s 3SMA (Three-Step Multi-angle) technology, which is an innovative stair-step tread block pattern on the center lugs that incorporates added biting edges. As the tire wears, these edges become new traction edges, resulting in less drop-off after the initial new-tire edge wears away. The 3SMA technology cleverly delivers more consistent grip and feel with less performance loss over its lifespan.

The Cross Trail also incorporates variable-depth knob siping, which adds micro-grip edges to select knobs for enhanced ground-gripping control, increased braking power and faster mud clearing. An 8-ply carcass is used to add durability, puncture resistance and toughness. Staggered shoulder blocks help increase side grip, and

Do-It-All Rubber

Tread for Every Application and Terrain

AMS has specialized tires to suit everything from rock faces to mud bogs to sand dunes, but sometimes a more general-purpose tire is the best fit. If your customers need tires that do it all, AMS’s M1 Evil, M2 Evil, Blacktail, and Radial Pro offer broadband functionality to satisfy nearly every application and terrain.

Intermediate-terrain tires like the M1 Evil and M2 Evil are designed to work well on a mix of packed dirt, light mud, gravel and loose soil, making them a versatile, all-around option for general trail use.

The original M1 Evil is a popular choice, and for good reason. Customers love the M1 Evil’s unidirectional truck-like tread pattern and equal land/sea ratio that offers excellent handling and smooth rolling. They also love its rugged and durable radial design, with flexible-yet-tough sidewalls that help the M1 Evil conform to whatever terrain it rolls over.

With 1-inch deep tread lugs the M1 Evil gets a grip on loose terrain, while careful tread placement still provides a smooth and controlled ride on hardpack. This tire is suitable for the front or rear of an ATV or UTV and is available in 6- and 8-ply designs.

The M2 Evil follows in the M1’s tracks, offering all the same great features as the original while decreasing the tire’s weight and price. Thanks to a new rubber compound and a tweak to the tread depth, the M2 Evil is now 10 percent lighter on average for all sizes. Reducing rotating weight improves all aspects of a vehicle’s performance. From acceleration and braking to suspension compliance, less mass at the ends of the axles makes for a nimbler machine.

For slightly more aggressive use in tougher terrain, AMS has the Blacktail and Radial Pro. “These are truly all terrain tires,” says AMS’s Jimmy White. “They work well in a variety of conditions, including mud, snow, rock and sand.”

The Blacktail is a radial-construction tire with a wide footprint that helps provide excellent traction and enhanced shock absorption on rough surfaces. With thick, deep lugs and a well-spaced tread pattern, the Blacktail is suitable for adventures in dirt, mud or rocks. Overlapping center treads provide a consistent rolling surface for a smooth ride on hard-packed surfaces, while the large voids between lugs lead to good self-cleaning in mud and help the tread blocks bite into softer surfaces like sand and gravel.

AMS’s Radial Pro was specifically designed for modern high-performance UTVs and is a multi-surface, smoothrolling, long-wearing all-terrain tire that’s a terrific choice for any condition. Offered in an 8-ply design, the Radial Pro features cutting-edge carcass construction that ensures consistent rolling performance at all speeds and optimized flex characteristics on different terrains. ■

Building a Maverick X3

One Catalog, One of a Kind Ride

The team at Moose Offroad is always building something, and this time around, it was a CanAm Maverick X3. The purpose of these builds is to prove how dramatically a motorcycle or off-road vehicle can be transformed, just by adding parts from the Moose Offroad lineup and the ATV/UTV catalog.

To make it even better, most of these parts are a simple bolt-on upgrade, which means dealers can help customers transform their vehicles with ease. “We offer all of the popular parts to build your own X3,” notes Moose Offroad’s Kyle Phillips. “The parts are easy to install, and all necessary parts are included.”

That last part is an important one, since just one part number includes any required bolts, wiring harnesses or other components necessary to get things mounted and running. One of the most notable changes to the Moose Offroad X3 is the wheels. The black 24X wheels are designed

to be both good-looking and extremely durable. A Moose lug nut kit and a two-inch wheel spacer kit complete the package.

More mods that help the X3 get down the trail better are a radius rod kit and a radius rod plate. These stainless steel rods allow for full adjustment of the camber and toe, and the rods are tough enough to withstand hard riding, so there’s no need to worry about bending or breaking.

Hard riding sometimes means getting into tough situations, which is why this X3 features a host of Moose Offroad parts that are there to help get out of them. A winch is a necessity for anyone doing a lot of off-road riding, and the X3 is equipped with an Aggro 4,500-lb. winch kit, which includes 50 feet of wire rope.

The universal jack is something that no one wants to have to use out on the trail or while trying to get some work done, but it’s there when it’s needed. Moose Offroad designed the jack to mount to the roll cage, so it’s out of the way during riding but easy to access when the time comes. Another must for emergencies is a fire extinguisher. The Moose Offroad fire extinguisher mount allows a fire bottle to attach to the roll cage, where it’s close at hand if needed.

Running across hazards, like sticks and rocks, is just a part of the UTV experience, but there’s no reason to run the risk of harming the vehicle with these encounters. The Moose Offroad footwell protector is a pair of aluminum guards that add a significant layer to the footwell area, making it far less likely that anything is going to punch through the bottom of the vehicle. And, since riders’ feet are on the other side, it’s especially important to make the footwell as strong as possible.

Another nod to guarding the X3 can be found in the pair of steel nerf bars that help keep trail obstructions from hitting the tires. That way, there’s less chance of damage

The team at Moose Offroad tapped into its product lineup and the ATV/UTV catalog to build this custom Can-Am Maverick X3 and the results are stunning.

or crashing, and less chance of needing that jack mounted to the roll cage. Keeping the people inside the UTV well-guarded is important, too, which is why this X3’s seats have been equipped with Moose’s 4-point harness kits. The harness is particularly valuable for the driver, since staying firmly in the seat makes it a lot easier to keep control of the vehicle.

Comfort and convenience were big factors in the X3 build, too. Inside, Moose Offroad grab handles are a place to hang on, while the aluminum lower door panels help keep out dirt, mud and small pieces of debris. A dome light and phone holder add the kind of comforts one would expect in a full-size vehicle.

Some additions have nothing to do with performance, safety or comfort. Instead, they’re just plain fun. That’s the case with the Moose Offroad 32-inch sound bar. The bar holds eight speakers, and the durable setup mounts easily so a vehicle can travel with its own soundtrack. When it came to lighting up the X3, the build team at Moose Offroad went all-out. Audio Experience for RZR Models

MB Quart’s GMR-7V1 touchscreen source unit and MBQRP-DASH-1 mount allow customers to add CarPlay and Android Audio functions to their side-by-side system.

Known for its tuned audio systems for UTVs, MB Quart has now reimagined Polaris’ Ride Command system.

The stock Ride Command setup is a very techforward system, but lacks in audio finesse. MB Quart takes it to another level with its complete audio systems, speaker kits, and touchscreen source unit. Customers who want the complete audio experience will want the Stage 3 system (MBQRP-STG3-RC-1) for PRO XP / R / Turbo R models. This hair-standing system totals 800-watts of peak power delivered by two amplifiers blasting through upgraded front speakers and a subwoofer.

Customers can turn up the volume by adding rear speakers to the system with the MBQRP-R116 kit for the same model trims, delivering crisp sound through two rear

speakers mounted in enclosures that integrate seamlessly into the vehicle and the Ride Command system.

“Our Stage 3 Tuned audio system is a plug-and-play solution in every sense,” said Rob Anderson of MB Quart. “Each piece is designed for sleek integration to retain a factory look but deliver incredibly powerful sound. It will function with the Ride Command system or customers can choose to upgrade to our 7-inch touchscreen source unit.”

Work Wear Gear for UTV Riders

Preparing for work or play on a UTV means having not just the right parts and accessories for the vehicle but having the right gear, too. Moose Offroad helps UTV owners gear up with items like the Motorees riding overalls and Air Intake helmet.

The Motorees overalls are designed for durability, comfort and convenience. Ideal for wearing during UTV rides, the Motorees are made from a stretch rip-stop material that is both breathable and durable. There are stretch panels in the rear yoke and above the knees for additional flexibility. Whether someone is behind the wheel or at work, these overalls provide the right blend of comfort and toughness.

One of the perks of overalls is all the easy storage they offer, and the Motorees are no exception. There are three zippered cargo pockets plus two hip pockets for carrying along items like keys, small tools or other necessities.

The Motorees come in sizes XS to 5X, and the hook-andloop waist adjustment system assures a comfortable fit.

“UTV riders want gear that’s as durable as their vehicles,” says Moose Offroad General Manager Jared Krueger. “We build our clothing to last through many rides, holding up to both the hard work and hard riding.”

While the Motorees are designed for hard work, the Air Intake helmet and air pumper system are designed for the dustiest of riding environments, like dunes or dirt tracks during dry season.

The Air Intake helmet is a full-face design that comes complete with a built-in neck curtain, which helps create a seal, so all that dirt and dust stays outside the helmet. The injection-molded ABS shell has an air-pumper connection point on the top, allowing clean, fresh air to circulate inside the helmet. The moisture-wicking liner and cheek pads help keep things cool, as do the intake and exhaust vents that channel air through the EPS liner.

The air pumper is available in both a two-people and fourpeople configuration, so everyone can escape from the dust. The pumper’s injection-molded ABS polymer housing is designed for increased airflow. This design works in conjunction with a high-static pressure fan to ensure that an outstanding volume of air is flowing. A Variable Speed Controller rocker switch makes it easy to adjust the airflow volume while on the go.

Since the whole point of the setup is to keep dust and dirt out of the rider’s helmet, there is a dual-filtering system that catches the particles without getting clogged. The filters can be removed and washed with water for easy reuse. ■

UTV Outfitters Accessories for All Seasons

Buying a UTV is only the beginning, and getting your customers outfitted with the right accessories is when their outdoor adventure comes to life. Moose Offroad is a great source for finding the right parts for just about any UTV application, and ATV-UTV Tek is a trusted brand behind this expansive inhouse collection of accessories.

“Our Moose-branded goods from ATV-UTV Tek range from simple touches that help improve comfort to upgrades that transform the workload potential,” said Chris Schenck, Innovative Product Solution – ATV-UTV Tek.

“Here are a few product that can help your customers see how easy it is to modify their UTV for around $100 or less.”

Side view mirrors are a great way for your customers to maintain optimal awareness around their UTV. When traversing tricky terrain, drivers can doublecheck wheel placement at a glance, or keep an eye on other vehicles on the trail. The Moose Offroad Side View Mirror in Octagon offers best-in-class field of view and vibration isolation, and is manufactured from high-grade materials for rugged durability. Three different Custom Clamp System (CCS) mounts are included to enable it to mount to any roll cage configuration in a clean, secure way. The mirror can be mounted on either the driver or passenger side, and features a Return to Home design that allows users to set a custom position.

A grab handle is a quick and easy way to make passengers feel more comfortable in a UTV. A grab handle can help when getting in and out of the vehicle, as well as offering a comfortable grip for when the ride gets exciting. Moose Offroad Elite Series Grab Handle uses CCS mounts that securely fasten to multiple types of round tube and profiled roll cages, allowing your customers to place it just about anywhere. These handles also have a fold-away feature that allows it to mount flush when not in use – ideal for customers who prefer a clean look.

A phone mount is a useful add-on for many. Remind your customers that a UTV accessory, such as the Moose Offroad Elite Series Phone Holder, is a better choice than an automotive-style option. The rugged design, high-grade nylon construction, and CCS mounts provide a secure hold that can be attached just about anywhere.

Quick and Easy Lighting Improvements

Electric Upgrades for Older Machines

Many older vehicles, espe cially off-road vehicles like ATVs and dirt bikes, featured AC powered lighting systems. These systems can be relatively dull in terms of lighting, with many operating at 6 Volts, which results in relatively poor lighting.

Because of this, it is popular to modify the system to run 12V lights, in particular LEDs, for drastically improved lighting per formance. The problem is that the LEDs and accessories require a DC power supply. So, if you just try to connect them to the OE system, you’ll get poor performance and/ or premature failure.

There are a few ways to modify the OE system to avoid these problems, but they are both expensive & time consuming. There’s a simpler solution – Rick’s Motorsport Electrics EZDC1 system allows your customers to run DC devices off of the OE grounded stator without modifications or adding a battery. Simply connect the EZDC1 and this will create a DC power supply of up to 5 AMPs draw at 12 Volt potential.

The key targets for the EZDC1 system are older dirtbikes, ATVs and even scooters that have AC powered lights. This unit allows them to run any DC powered accessories, especially LED lights.

Amanda Laidlaw, principal at Rick’s Motorsport Electrics, says installation is very straightforward. “The part has

three wires on it,” she explains. “Yellow connects to a grounded stator, red connects to the positive side of the DC device, and black connects to the ground/common. Additionally, the device is intended specifically to remove the need to add a battery.”

Laidlaw says the EZDC1 system will work for any device that requires a 12 Vdc power supply. If unsure about the power supply requirements of the part that’s intended to run, consumers should contact the manufacturer of the accessory. While the EZDC1 can convert the AC to a smooth DC output, the machine’s stator output will be the limiting factor as to how many accessories you will be able to power.

Rick’s Motorsport Electrics, based in Hampstead, New Hampshire, offers a full parts line of motorsport charging and starting systems & electrical ignition components for street bikes, ATV/Off Road, snowmobile and watercraft. What began as a small motorcycle salvage business in the late 1970s has grown to a well-recognized, highly reputed brand name in the motorsport world. A Logical Equation

High-Quality OEM

Even the most popular ATV and UTV models from trusted brands can use improvements. There are always parts that are easily broken, wear too quickly or could become common issues. Fortunately, trusty aftermarket companies such as Quad Logic make it their business to sniff out these potential problem areas and develop quick solutions that will help fortify your customer’s purchase. This gives you the opportunity to be the expert and help your customers solve problems before they are slowed down by them.

“Quad Logic was founded back in 2012 to offer high quality replacement parts for Polaris ATV and UTV models at an affordable price,” said Quad Logic’s Robb Johnson. “We’ve since branched out into a complete line of Can-Am parts and accessories, as well. Our big sellers include brake components, engine and diagnostic sensors, magnetic drain plugs, fuel valves and intake components.” Here’s a look at some popular items from Quad Logic.

The Battery Relocation Kit for the Polaris Sportsman 570 is a highly sought option from Quad Logic, and an easy upsell that moves the battery off the skid plate and toward the rear of the vehicle where it is easier to access and is better protected. The kit is made of heavy gauge steel and includes all the necessary hardware and cables.

The speedometer sensor on a Polaris Ranger 700 is simple and easy to upgrade with the Quad Logic OEM

replacement. Machined aluminum housing and larger diameter wires help prevent wire breakage while the black anodized finish and waterproof Delphi plug help it stand up to demanding conditions. This speedometer sensor is not only more robust, but is a more affordable option than an OEM unit.

For Polaris Sportsman 800 brake calipers that are worn out, stuck or broken, stop before you order a full OEM replacement. Quad Logic offers ready-to-use Brake Calipers that are exact OEM spec only without the mounting bracket. Simply swap out the existing mounting bracket and brake line for an easy, inexpensive replacement.

Polaris Scrambler customers might appreciate knowing about the Scrambler Fan Switch from Quad Logic. This plug-n-play thermal switch is a direct replacement for the stock unit at a far more reasonable price, and operates at the same temperatures as OEM sensors.

A cracked or leaking intake boot will cause a Polaris RZR 1000 engine to run lean, and can even lead to engine damage. Help your customers learn how to keep an eye on critical parts like these, and how inexpensive replacement parts such as the Quad Logic Intake Boot Throttle Body Adapter can easily help prevent more serious issues. ■

Reliable Recovery

A New Lower Cost Off-Road Winch Option

Warn Industries’ newest standard duty powersports winch is designed for first-time winch users or casual riders who need reliable recovery at an affordable price.

The R-Series features winches that are available from 2,500 lb. to 6,000 lb. capacities to suit all ATV and UTV applications. The ATV line-up includes four models – the R25 with steel rope, R35 with steel rope, R25-S with synthetic rope and R35-S with synthetic rope. The UTV line-up includes three models – the R45 with steel rope, R45-S with synthetic rope and R60-S with synthetic rope.

What’s included in the purchase?

The R-Series winch of choice comes with 50 feet of rope and a standard hook, fairlead and fairlead plate. There is a roller if choosing steel rope and a painted cast aluminum hawse if choosing synthetic rope, remote socket harness (excluding the R25), contactor and wiring kit, hardware kit, literature including user’s manual and warranty, and a sticker. The R25 comes with a handlebar switch, the R35 features a handlebar switch and dash-mounted rocker switch, and the R45 and R60 both operate via a dash-mounted rocker switch and a wired remote.

The R-Series slots in under Warn’s VRX and Axon winch models. What’s the difference? The VRX is corrosion tested with spray salt for 240 hours while the R-Series is tested for 200 hours, and the VRX sealing is IP68 rated while the R-Series is IP67 rated. Both are rugged as the VRX is durability tested over 1,100 cycles while the R-Series is tested over 500 cycles; the VRX features a lifetime mechanical and 3-year electrical warranty while the R-Series carries a 5-year mechanical and 3-year electrical warranty.

As with other Warn product, these R-Series winches are rigorously tested and validated to meet or exceed the company’s durability and performance standards.

Warn Industries has been producing off-road products for 77 years. Arthur and Sadie Warn started a Willys dealership in Southpark, Washington in the 1930s, then founded

Warn Industries in 1948 with an idea of converting thousands of surplus World War II Jeeps into useful, on-road vehicles. Ever inventive, Arthur quickly transitioned into offering locking wheel hubs that would revolutionize the automotive industry.

In 1959, with hub sales taking off, Warn Industries blazed another new trail, this time with the electric winch. Before electric winches, a vehicle would’ve had a power take-off winch (PTO), which required the engine to be running in order for the winch to work. However, the Warn Winch was electric, and could operate even if the vehicle was stalled on a steep hill. The popularity of the electric winch quickly made Warn Industries a popular brand for off-road racers, avid four wheelers, weekend adventurers, and hard-working ranchers. ■

Electronics, Upgraded A

New Brand from Up North

Fried stators, faulty pickup coils, cooked regulators and other malfunctioning charging and ignition components are common occurrences in busy shops. Most OEM components are decent, but if you’re going to replace a part, why not install something better than what the bike came with? Now that RMSTATOR is part of the Parts Unlimited family, its premium quality electronics are available for just about every rig that rolls into your shop.

RMSTATOR offers voltage regulators, flywheels, CDIs, stators, complete high output charging systems, and a variety of accessories and tools for thousands of applications across ATV, dirt, PWC, side-by-side, street, and snowmobile. These are performance upgrades that are packed with innovation and technology that help your customers’ vehicles run better, longer.

“We’re incredibly excited to expand RMSTATOR’s presence in the U.S. through our partnership with Parts Unlimited,” says company owner Roger Masson. “We look forward to supporting even more riders and powersports enthusiasts across North America with the quality and performance they expect from us.”

The RMSTATOR name may be unfamiliar in America, but the Quebec-based company has a stellar reputation up north and just celebrated its 20th anniversary in business. RMSTATOR is a close-knit company of talented men and women that “doesn’t just sell electrical components for powersports, they solve problems,” says Masson.

Chief among RMSTATOR’s achievements is its REVOLT line of voltage regulators. The regulator is one of the hardest-working components in the charging system and

often gets brought down due to heat. REVOLT regulators feature active rectification technology that helps them run up to 50 percent cooler than OEM parts, ensuring a long service life. In fact, REVOLT regulators come with a lifetime warranty.

Other regulators from RMSTATOR help lower stator temps, have lithium-ion specific programming, or use CNC-machined billet-aluminum housings for increased cooling and a premium look. High-output stator and regulator kits are available for many motorcycles, ATVs and side-by-side applications.

Just need a new rotor? RMSTATOR’s HD Flywheels use marine-grade epoxy for secure magnet mounting magnets capping for extra protection and high-power designs are available for some models.

RMSTATOR also has replacement CDI boxes with PeakRPM technology for accurate ignition timing, tested extensively prior to releasing to market. Is a customer still running an unreliable AC ignition system? The ACE ignition systems convert AC stator-powered ignitions to DC battery power for easier starting and improved performance and reliability.

Besides the big components, RMSTATOR also has directreplacement parts like source coils, pickup coils, spark plug caps, starter relays, flywheel pullers, and all the other items like multimeters, sensors and voltage peak reading adaptors to tackle an electrical repair on a customer’s machine. RMSTATOR really is a one-stop shop for everything charging and ignition related. ■

Clean Connection

Bluetooth Receiver for Great Audio

Balance is key in every aspect of life, and KICKER’s KBTR

Bluetooth receiver is a prime example of that, offering just the right amount of functionality and design to maximize versatility.

This audio controller’s versatility stems from its design and intended functions. It provides customers the capability they’re looking for in a sleek, easy-to-use manner without cluttering or overcomplicating things with unnecessary features.

The traditional, rotary volume knob feels like home, and the accompanying oversized buttons clearly labeled for common functions make navigating music and audio settings a hassle-free experience out on the trail.

On top of the welcoming user experience, the KBTR receiver allows your customers to add an aftermarket audio

system where it previously may not have been possible.

“In a UTV or other vehicle not equipped with factory audio, the KBTR allows for simple integration of an audio system, including speakers, subwoofer(s) and an amp, all of which can be controlled with a familiar and simple Bluetooth connection to customers’ phones,” explains Lori Boyer, KICKER Regional Sales Manager.

Versatility like this allows customers to start mild with simple speakers and expand into a fully equipped audio system that can catch the attention of everyone on the trail. Plus, customers don’t need to worry about the receiver being exposed to the elements with its weatherproof design boasting an IP66 water resistance rating. ■

Control the Temp Heat

Management for UTVs

Heat is the enemy of everything we love about UTVs. It can spoil the fun, ruin performance and even break parts. Regardless of outside temps, UTVs generate a lot of heat, but Design Engineering Inc. (DEI) can help control it.

When DEI dove into UTV product development, they found plenty of room for improvement. Take Honda Pioneer models for example. These vehicles create a very noticeable amount of heat directly underneath passenger seats, but DEI’s Under Seat Heat Shield and Auxiliary Fan kits help evacuate heat from the engine bay and block it for the driver and their whole crew.

Popular models from Polaris like the Trail 900 and 1000 and XP 4 1000 and Turbo models also come with elevated temperatures. Customers with these cars can enjoy an immediately noticeable difference in reduced heat and ride comfort with DEI’s Complete Heat Control kits.

These comprehensive kits come complete with modelspecific, precision cut insulation pieces to cover all major areas heat would normally radiate through. “Our complete

heat control kits combine multiple durable materials designed to block heat and target primary areas, like the floor and tunnel of a RZR,” says John Gabriel, Powersports Manager for DEI. “The result is a noticeable increase in comfort for all passengers – it will even help keep ice in the cooler!” ■

Data Driven Real-Time Vehicle Diagnostics

CanDo International, a great source for real-time vehicle diagnostics, would like to remind dealers about its Moto Pro powersports vehicle scan tool. Today’s UTVs, ATVs and motorcycles rely heavily on electronics to control mechanical functions, such as fuel injection, ignition timing, traction control, suspension control

units and anti-lock brake systems. A tool that can scan and diagnose a vehicle’s electronic systems is an absolute must.

CanDo International states that the Moto Pro works with nearly any powersports vehicle to provide access to electronic systems. Users simply locate the vehicle’s Electronic Control Module (ECU) and plug in the Moto Pro tool to access the module’s data in real-time. They can then read and clear codes, perform tests and self-adaptive resets and make actuator calibrations for functions such as idle speed and throttle settings. There’s even a handy vehicle ECU locator feature that helps one locate a vehicle’s ECU connector plug and which adapter to use.

Performance Pads and Rotors for UTVs

Actions speak louder than words,” is an age-old idiom that still rings true, especially when you’re talking performance parts manufacturing. Braking is performance, too, and EBC has proven its veteran status again with its UTV brake components.

“Our R&D department purchased a Polaris RZR 1000 to fully understand the unique braking needs of performance UTVs,” says James Hallet, CEO for EBC. “That development led to multiple products for these cars, including our SXRHH brake pads and UTVX rotors that stand out in stopping power and durability categories.”

This testing didn’t just lead to brakes for Polaris RZRs, of course. EBC covers many popular models, including Can-Am X3 and Maverick R, Honda Talon, Kawasaki Teryx KRX1000 and the Polaris RZR, including the Pro R.

EBC’s SXR-HH brake pads are considered race-formula pads with premium sintered construction that deliver ultra-high friction, fade resistance and longevity in extreme conditions.

Furthering that stopping power, UTVX rotors are a design upgrade from OE-style with vee-profiled contours that

provide self-cleaning functionality for consistent braking while saving weight.

If your customers don’t need race-ready brakes, EBC offers premium quality OE-replacement brake pads and rotors as well. Whatever the performance needs, EBC has UTV customers’ brakes covered. ■

One Stop Final Drive Chain and Sprocket Kits

FAvailable for most popular ATVs and motorcycles, Regina chain and sprocket kits offer an easy replacement for your customers’ specific vehicle.

inal drive components shoulder a heavy burden on a powersports vehicle, and well-maintained chain and sprockets can make a difference in the reliability, safety and peak power of the machine. When one component is due for replacement, it’s likely best to replace the entire system. This is where Regina Chain has a ready-made solution.

Available for most popular ATVs and motorcycles, Regina chain kits offer an easy replacement for your customers’ specific vehicle. The kits include a heat-treated front sprocket, induction hardened rear sprocket, and a Regina

Z-ring chain pre-cut at the appropriate length. Regina’s high-performance 520 Quad Z-ring series chain (8,000 lb-ft strength) features gold outer plates and Z-ring sealing rings. The patented Z-ring design of the chain seals traps lubricant between the plates to help maintain low friction for optimized power to the rear wheel, and longer life of your customers’ drive components.

“Chain kits allow your customers to save time and money,” explains Federico Gualdi, Sales Director Motorcycle Division, Regina. “They don’t have to cut the chain at the right length, they can avoid mistakes in the selection of the correct sprocket and/or chain application, and it’s also easy to stock and recognize thanks to the description.”

All Regina Chains are made in Italy. All sprockets in the chain kits are made of high-quality steel and have OEM gearing. Chain kits include both a quad rivet-type and a hollow type connecting link. ■

UTV Piston Kits Performance Under Pressure

Wössner Research and Development has set its sights on the performance side-by-side market with replacement piston kits designed to withstand the rigors of modern high-horsepower machines.

Your customers now have access to Wössner’s Germandesigned and manufactured, OEM-replacement piston kits making it even easier to find high-quality engine rebuild supplies for custom builds or everyday projects.

Each lightweight Wössner UTV piston features enhanced piston-pin oiling slots, radial boss machining and annular grooves for improved wrist pin lubrication. They also feature tight piston wall clearances, which result in a quieter-running engine.

Each piston’s skirt is coated to reduce friction and enhance break-in performance. A precision machining process enhances the sealing ability of the piston rings, providing more controlled oil flow past the rings for more compression, better throttle response and increased engine life.

Wössner currently has 10 piston kits covering the more popular performance-sport models, including Can-Am’s Maverick 1000 Turbo, Honda’s Talon 1000R, select Polaris RZR and Ranger models and the Yamaha’s YXZ1000R. An Offroad Helmet Packed with Features

Wearing a helmet that provides protection, comfort and quality shouldn’t be dependent on a rider’s budget. That was the attitude the team at Alpinestars took with the SM3 off-road helmet. While it’s packed with innovative technologies and protective features, the SM3 is a competitively priced option for motocross, enduro and off-road riders.

The SM3 helmet shares many of the same key features as the SM5 and SM10 helmets, drawing from the extensive research and development Alpinestars has done in helmet materials and design.

Those similarities begin with the varied-thickness shell. Optimized for both protection and light weight, the shell is designed to offer the right level of thickness where it’s needed. The six-piece EPS liner also varies, with three different densities. Specific densities were chosen for each zone of the helmet, allowing for better energy absorption in an impact and ensuring a comfortable fit. The EPS liner also has a special coating to reduce friction with the comfort liner, which helps mitigate rotational impact forces.

Like the other helmets, the SM3 also features a breakaway visor. If a significant force is applied to the visor, it will separate from the helmet. That prevents the visor from catching on something in an impact, further reducing the chance of rotational forces to the head or neck.

Getting the right fit for the SM3 helmet is easy thanks to three outer shell sizes and three EPS liner sizes, plus optional cheek pads that either add or reduce the pad size by 5mm. This allows for a tailored fit to provide maximum comfort. That comfort level is enhanced by 10 intake ports and seven exhaust ports for substantial airflow, helping keep things cool even in the toughest of riding conditions. For

riders who want to take their hydration on the trail or track, there are hydration tube channels integrated into the cheek pads of the SM3.

Alpinestars pays attention to every detail, especially when it comes to protection features. The SM3 helmet’s shell thickness and helmet design in the chin area are optimized to meet the company’s strict in-house standard, which is even tougher than the homologation standard.

All in all, this ECE 22.06-certified helmet is a high-quality option without the matching high price tag. “It’s hard to argue with the value the SM3 helmet offers,” says Brent Jaswinski, Alpinestars Sales Communications Manager. “Between the protection performance it provides being that far under the certification thresholds, as well as how light it is, you’d think we were talking about our top-of-the-line helmet, but in fact it’s Alpinestars’ most affordable option.” ■
