A Giving Community is a Caring Community

Our Mission
“The Waterman Communities Foundation is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to strive to enhance the lives and well-being of current and future residents of Waterman Village with needed services; support benevolence; provide Village improvements; and empower employees through education and training.”
The Foundation can only fulfill its mission through the generosity of Waterman Village residents.
Unlike private organizations, Waterman Village does not have access to millions of dollars in charitable funds. Nor do we receive the levels of government and private insurance reimbursements that hospitals get.
It is through your gifts alone that the Foundation can meet the needs of the residents and employees who make Waterman Village a great place to live and work.
As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.
- Audrey Hepburn
Since its founding in 2001, the Foundation has contributed more than $164,000 toward the benefit of Waterman Village residents. The Foundation has funded a myriad of projects and services over the years, most notably the following:
• Audio-Visual Equipment, Drapes and Lighting for the Chapel
• Intelect TranSport Electrotherapy Machine for Outpatient Therapy
• Cardiac Chair for Therapy
• Continuing Education for Waterman Village Physical Therapists
• Lift Chair for the Lakeside Pool
• Nature Trail Restorations
Through your gifts, the Foundation will continue to address current needs within the community so residents can realize an immediate benefit and see their “dollars at work.”
Simultaneously, the Foundation is “looking ahead to the future” and focusing on a new direction to support both residents and employee education.
A newly created permanent Endowment will enable the Foundation to continue making a direct impact on resident lives while also impacting the futures of our employees. Through the Endowment, scholarship funds for Waterman Village employees will be established. This is a “first” for Waterman Village – providing the opportunity for you to contribute to assisting employees with their future education and training. Waterman Village employees do so much in their service to the residents. Let’s acknowledge and support their efforts by giving to the Endowment for their futures.
The Foundation’s new donation option gives residents the opportunity to name or rename campus buildings, rooms within these buildings, or outdoor common areas in honor or memory of a special person, couple or even a beloved pet. “Naming gifts” are an ideal way to contribute to the Endowment.
We encourage you to help fellow residents and employees and become part of “A Community in Action” seeking new opportunities to build toward the future. In addition to Cash Donations, here are other ways you can support the Foundation’s mission and its forward-looking vision through the Endowment.
Contributing all or a portion of your Required Minimum Distribution is an easy way to donate, lower your annual income and reduce your tax liability. You may make a one-time donation or donate every year.
Allocating all or a portion of your entry fee refund is a meaningful way to help the Foundation meet the needs of current and future residents.
Taking advantage of the available “naming opportunities” through a contribution to the Endowment is a memorable way to honor a beloved family member or “furry friend.”
Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.
- Albert Camus
Including a charitable bequest in your will establishes your legacy and continues the “good works” of the Foundation well into the future.
Designating the Foundation as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy is an opportune way to fulfill your charitable wishes.
Having your account billed monthly, quarterly or yearly, with an amount prearranged through Waterman’s Accounting Office, is a simple method for donating on a recurring basis.
Contributing long-term appreciated securities gives you a two-fold income tax benefit. You will have a charitable deduction for the current fair market value and no tax on the appreciation.
Please consult your accountant regarding any tax benefits.
Through your generosity, the Waterman Communities Foundation can continue to ensure your gifts have a lasting impact on residents and their quality of life and ensure a meaningful impact on employees’ educational futures.
