Welcome to the Asturias Technology Park (www.ptasturias.es), one of the main infrastructures of our region to support innovative and technology-based companies and projects. Promoted by the Government of the Principality of Asturias and inaugurated in June 1991, this was the 3rd Technology Park in Spain. Nowadays the PT Asturias is a consolidated initiative which keeps up an impressive urban and natural surroundings that will soon surpass the half million square meters, after the planned extension. Currently the PT Asturias houses some 130 companies and institutions with over 2,300 employees, of which 17% are engaged in research and technological development. Around 12% of companies located in the park work in the field of Medicine, Health, Biotechnology, Chemistry and Biochemistry; 50% in ITC, Engineering, Energy and the Environment sectors, and the rest fall within others sector involve in to the Electronics, Robotics and Automation, graphic arts, audiovisual and design and architecture and construction. The PT Asturias is member of the Biomedical and Health Cluster of the University of Oviedo. To encourage development of science and technology and facilitate innovative process, the Park also has significant resources: •

C/ Emilio Rodriguez Vigil s/n - Bloque Polivalente A, 4Âş 33006 Oviedo (Asturias) Spain â„Ą +34985232428 www.healthsens.es Sector of activity: Biothecnology Our main activity is focused on development, manufacture and marketing of high-sensitivity and reliable electrochemical biosensors for their use in the diagnosis/prognosis of diseases with a high prevalence in the population. Our technology is based on bio-modification of the electrodic surfaces to recognize, through immunological reactions, biomarkers of interest. In addition, electrochemical techniques allow performing a miniaturization of instrumentation, so it's possible to develop handheld analyzers that are compatible with telemedicine and allow the decentralization of the biomarkers analysis, because we will be able to analyze many biomarkers in the same item. Diseases for which we develop a sensor are the following: Renal failure, Determination of Creatinine in blood through a point of care test; Prostate cancer, We can perform a simultaneous measurement of total PSA and free PSA in a unique biosensor in blood. We are also interested in other diseases like celiac disease.
