A fully refurbished, double-storey, multipurpose pavilion stands proudly at Robert Booth Reserve in Hampton Park following the completion of construction in late 2023.
Home to local sporting clubs including the Hampton Park Football Netball Club, Hampton Park Cricket Club and Hampton Park Tennis Club, the original pavilion required upgrades to better support its various user groups.
The newly refurbished building now features a community room, commercial kitchen, canteen and updated public amenities. A key upgrade is the inclusion of unisex changerooms and amenities, making the space more accessible and user friendly for the current and next generation of athletes.
Clyde Recreation Reserve, located on the corner of Patterson Road and Clyde-Five Ways Road, is now open with the space fully equipped to support AFL, cricket, rugby, netball and tennis.
The space is designed to cater to our up-and-coming sports stars in one of Casey’s fastest growing suburbs. The project has delivered three AFL/cricket ovals with a relocatable rugby union goal, two netball courts, eight tennis courts, four cricket practice nets, floodlighting, players pavilion, carparking and a playground.
Late last year, Council was joined by club representatives, the Federal Member for Holt, Cassandra Fernando and Member for Narre Warren South, Gary Maas to officially open the space.
The $5.4 million refurbishment project was completed as part of the wider Robert Booth Reserve Master Plan project and was funded by Council, along with contributions from the State and Federal governments.
Hampton Park Community House has recently seen some upgrades to the facility including new flooring in the playroom, cube lockers in the childcare space, new air conditioning and an enclosure veranda for the playroom.
Additionally, the project also delivered new child toilet amenities, fitted change table and upgrades to non-compliant passageways which has created a safer and accessible environment for its users.
Operating out of the space are Hampton Park Care Group Inc. who provide a whole range of services for the community including Tai Chi, computer training, language classes and well as facility hire.

A brand new kerbside collection vehicle has hit the town, and the best part is, it’s powered solely by converted cooking oil.
The City of Casey’s waste management provider Cleanaway has been trialling a new range of garbage trucks fuelled with a low carbon, circular fossil fuel replacement called ‘HVO100 – hydrotreated vegetable oil’, with one truck added to the existing fleet that services Casey.
HVO100 is made from used cooking oils and fats collected from commercial kitchens, restaurants, and shopping centres, and then refined to produce the low carbon fuel alternative.
Across the organisation, Casey is exploring innovative ways to improve energy efficiency across all services as we strive to our commitment towards zero net corporate emissions by 2030.

The City of Casey has been undertaking a number of initiatives to keep our city cool and help plan and prepare for becoming a climate resilient city. One of these initiatives is coordinating the engineering and landscape designs in new developments to increase tree canopy.
How are we achieving this?
• Trialling planting techniques that increase tree establishment through passive irrigation opportunities, improved soil conditions and planting suitable climate resilient species.
• Developing landscape guidelines to lift the minimum expectations and see more equity in street tree outcomes.
• Supporting the Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) in putting a minimum 30 per cent canopy cover target on new Precinct Structure Plans. Trees provide many ecosystem services and environmental and wellbeing benefits for the community including promoting biodiversity, removing pollutants from air, soil and water, cooling our city, reducing storm water runoff, energy savings, reducing greenhouse emissions, carbon sequestration, shade, aesthetics, encouraging exercise, improving mental health, and increased property value … just to name a few!

Asher was amongst 30 local leaders who successfully graduated from the Community Leadership Program in 2023 and celebrated his achievements amongst other graduates, peers and family at the graduation ceremony.
“The program brought together 30 of the finest and most diverse people that I would not have otherwise met, under one roof for more than six months. We bonded together over academic as well as practical workshops that were ably led by the legendary Raymond Burnett.
I would encourage everyone to give it a go. If selected, you will be able to enrich yourself which will ultimately help you empower others around you.”
