Mission Our life’s go-en more exci2ng yet faster and less predictable. A school has to open up and keep in touch with this life in order to be a solid prepara2on for it.

We are seeking crea2ve solu2ons combining constancy and tradi2ons with the pulse of 2me to organise our everyday’s educa2on and to con2nuously develop our school concept.

What do children and teenagers need for a healthy development and a successful start into their professional life or further educa2on? Which role in our society do they want to play?

SchuleEins, established in 2007, is a community school in private ownership (GemeinschaIsschule in freier TrägerschaI) teaching students from 1st to 13th grade.

Our classes follow the Berlin framework curriculum. We offer all of Berlin’s recognized levels of gradua2on.

At the same 2me we are using the freedom that comes with our status to acquire knowledge in various fields and to encourage media education in every aspect of our school life. Our projects are realized with students across year groups with a focus on interdisciplinarity and prac2cal work.

We support our students to achieve their best individual performance possible, offering each child an

individualized learning path.

Next to our regular classes we offer our own subject Lebenswelten, afternoon

programs and

workshops, special courses for talent and support as well as projects with external experts. We support each student in discovering and accep2ng their own talents and interests and to develop their own competences through the desire to learn. We are open for innova2ve solu2ons and regard mistakes as a chance for development.

Community, diversity and participation are our leading values. This includes empathy and tolerance within our school as well as coopera2on and engagement within our social environment and the neighbourhood.

In order to shape our future ac2vely, we aim to take on responsibility in a steadily changing world.

We want our students to grow into open, independent and solidary personali2es who do not shy away from making responsible decisions for themselves and others but shape their own path of life as well as the society of tomorrow.

The School administra2on

Our leading values Community Schools are a mirror of their socie2es. We therefore define educa2on as a challenge for the en2re community that does not end in behind of our gates. We intend that everyone defines themselves as part of this society by learning and understanding what it takes to take on individual responsibility. We engage parents and families in our work i.e. during the prepara2on of our school fes2vi2es or by providing internship posi2ons in their companies.For individual support and ques2ons students are accompanied in their school’s life by their main educater (un2l 5th grade) and self chosen mentee (from 6th grade).

Not only as as an officially recognized “Environmental School” we see it as our mandatory mission to take responsibility for our environment. We raise awareness for sustainability in our projects and for everyone that is involved in our school community.

Diversity We aim at preparing our students for life by presen2ng its diversity to them: Differences in age, cultural heritage or professional experience is part of our self-concep2on.

Our team consists of fully fledged teachers and experienced pedagogues as well as external professionals (“EFLs”) coming from a huge variety of fields. This also includes the “older genera2on”: Senior ci2zens of every age that yet again expand the perspec2ve on life.

Our students organise their aIernoon self-determined: They are free to use our open courses and workshops, constantly defending themselves in different group constella2ons. As in a small village, everyone is finding their place.

Participation In our everyday’s school life there are various ways of par2cipa2on to get engaged with the thought of democracy. Class council, elec2ons of student representa2ves and speakers of ini2a2ves to develop the school’s life inspire to feel responsible for one’s own issues. During Plenum the students learn to organise their own opinions and arguments in a public environment taking place in our auditorium.

Every two years the school community is vo2ng for a theme that will then be inves2gated from different disciplines in our formats of LW and Pulsar.

During school trips students get the chance toto expand their perspec2ves on that theme, possibly even from another country. For that we also seek the dialogue with interna2onal partner schools.

Selected programs Lebenswelten Our very own school subject “Lebenswelten” - LW - is an essen2al part of our school concept and firmly integrated in our curriculum. The courses offer prac2cal knowledge in different fields of the social life ranging from environment and ecology to arts and culture, digitaliza2on and communica2on. That way the subject serves as part of our career and study orienta2on. Courses are chosen at the start of every mid term and are led by teachers, pedagogues and external experts. In the classes 9 to 13 the format is developed into a Pulsar-week which focuses on students self-organizing the research. Excursions are held, experts invited, students even manage their own working groups.

Media education We live in a digitalized world where risks and great possibili2es come hand in hand. Media educa2on is a significant part of our school’s life. Our aim is to sensibilise students, our team as well as families for all future challenges in educa2on, profession and social interac2ons.

With competent guidance the students reflect their interac2on with media from prac2cal, theore2cal and cri2cal approaches. Equipped with professional technical tools, they are able to produce and publish different media for the channels of SchuleEins Medien.

Individualized learning Path da Vinci-Programme SchuleEins offers a programme to encourage the specific talents of all students. Name patron is Leonardo da Vinci, whom’s talents lay in the fields of natural science, medicine, technik, architecture, mathema2cs and astronomy as well as fine arts, literature and philosophy. Our modules allow interdisciplinary approaches and are individually shaped to the specific interests of the students.

Support The team offers individual consulta2on and diagnos2c support as well as smaller learning groups which concentrate on contents from specific classes. Our aim is to provide every student with the support and accompaniment that leads them to their best individual performance possible.

Facts and Figures Does SchuleEins have tuiHon fee?

Yes. The individual fee is calculated upon various factors such as the income of the family. For the current table (“Schuldgeldtabelle”) please visit our website.

Is SchuleEins accepHng new students within a running school term?

Yes. Successful admissions depend on capaci2es and the composi2ons of each class.

Which are the criteria for admissions?

In each class we want to criteria a diverse yet balanced composi2on. In the selec2on process different factors play a role such as health, physical and cogni2ve condi2ons as well as social backgrounds.

When do we have to apply?

First grade: Summer before the following calendar school-term (e.g.: The child starts school in 2022 → applica2on in Summer 2021).

Students for all other grades: You can apply at any 2me. We offer individual Get-to-know-days and visits / observa2ons.
