On March 25, entrepreneur, music artist, fashion designer and media icon Paris Hilton was recognized for her charitable work at the sold-out National Humanitarian Luncheon at The Mar-aLago Club hosted by Lois Pope and American Humane Association.

“Paris Hilton has given to causes ranging from animal rescue to pediatric cancer,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane Association. “As an organization helping children and animals, we greatly appreciate her efforts.”

“I am very happy to be involved with American Humane Association and to be honored by an organization

that helps protect children and animals,” said Hilton. “I encourage people everywhere to support this charity.”

Proceeds supported the Lois Pope Red Star Rescue team in Palm Beach County.

“The world knows Paris Hilton from her international brands and businesses, her work as a model, designer, music artist, and a major player in the world of deejaying and electronic dance music,” said Mrs. Pope. “But she is also someone who cares deeply about people and animals, and she has used her success to help those in need. Cancer Alliance Hosts “Bubbly Bash” In Support of Their Mission to Help Cancer Patients The Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope, Inc., the charitable nonprofit that provides financial and informational resources to cancer patients and families, toasted 10 years of compassion on Saturday, March 22nd at The Borland Center in Palm Beach Gardens.

The sold-out event, called “The Bubbly Bash,” attracted more than 150 friends and supporters who enjoyed a private Veuve Clicquot and Caviar Reception. The Chairs of the event were Nancy Mobberley and Beth Thomas. Honorary Chairs were John and Shannon Favole and Dr. Robert and Julia Dattolo. Generous underwriters included A-1 Moving & Storage, Miles2Go, International Polo Club Palm Beach Catering Powered by Aaron’s Catering of the Palm Beaches, WPTV-TV 5, Rosanne M. Among the highlights, Lawrence F. De George, Jr., board member for Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, Florida, established a matching challenge of $50,000 at the request of Cancer Alliance Co-Founder, Charles Fischer. The total of $100,000 raised will help send children who have cancer from Palm Beach County to Camp Boggy Creek.

The $50,000 was raised throughout the year and at the event through a “call to the heart” at the live auction.

WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL OF PALM BEACH, INC 2013-2014 Distinguished Speaker Series On Thursday, February 20, 2014 Michael Braun spoke to an audience of 150 members and guests of the World Affairs Council of Palm Beach at the Colony Palm Beach Pavilion Room. Braun, former DEA Chief of Operations, discussed in depth The Growing Confluence of Drugs & Terror: The Face of 21st Century Crime. He specifically noted the effect of the far reaching tentacles of the Drug Cartel in America, and how the money from drug trafficking is funding terrorism here in America and globally. Drug Cartels and Terrorist Groups have joined forces to create a powerful network of terror and crime, which he labeled narco-terrorism. Braun also discussed the great harm drugs pose to Americans, especially our children and young adults.

Michael Braun retired from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in October, 2008, and immediately joined Spectre Group International, LLC, (SGI) as a Managing Partner.

SGI supports US government efforts to build strong law enforcement and judicial institutions in the US and abroad. The company has headquarters in Alexandria,VA, and has an office in Kabul, Afghanistan.

On Tuesday, March 25, 2014 Ambassador Carol A. Rodley was the distinguished speaker at the World Affairs Council of Palm Beach meeting at the Mar-a-Lago Club Palm Beach. Ambassador Rodley spoke to a full audience on the critical issue of Combating Human Trafficking: How Do We Protect the Vulnerable? She was U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia from 2008 -2011, and shared many personal experiences she had there, especially in learning the extent of child trafficking both for prostitution and for labor slavery. Children as young as 3 or 4 years of age are sold and imprisoned for years either as sex slaves or chained to chairs and made to work endlessly. Often these little children are disabled and sent on the streets to beg. Ambassador Rodley said that, with the help of our government and other global governments, homes and schools are now being built to assist and nurture those who are able to escape their “prisons”. Laws are slowly being enacted to protect the innocent.

Ambassador Rodley has more than 30 years of experience as an American diplomat, and was the first Counselor for Political Military Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul in 2006-2007. Most recently, she served as Dean of the School of Leadership and Management at the State Department’s Foreign Service Institute.

Ambassador Carol A. Rodley has just been named Director of Resolution to Act Initiative at Inclusive Security.

Resolution to Act provides support and expertise to countries creating and implementing high-impact National Action Plans for Women, Peace, and Security.

Piaget Returns To Palm Beach To Celebrate Polo’s Best Piaget returned to Palm Beach for the seventh consecutive year as the presenting sponsor and Official Timekeeper of the Piaget Gold Cup tournament at the International Polo Club in Palm Beach.

Polo players and brothers, Facundo Pieres, Gonzalito Pieres, Nico Pieres and Mariano Aguerre of the Ellerstina Piaget team, Piaget North America’s polo ambassador, Jeff Hall and his wife, Michelle Hall, and Marc Ganzi and Melissa Ganzi, joined Larry Boland, President of Piaget North America, to celebrate the final match of the three-week tournament.

Piaget kicked off the celebration with al pre-match brunch for fifty. Guests included Joe and Diana DiMenna, Executive Fashion and Beauty Editor, Avril Graham of Harper’s Bazaar, Helga Piaget and IPC’s John Wash and wife Toy Wash.

The House also transformed the 7th Chukker terrace to showcase the latest timepiece editions. Rising above the presentation was a life-sized polished aluminum polo pony and rider filled with hundreds of Yves Piaget Roses.

Guests were treated to the final match between teams Valiente and Alegria. It was a heated competition but ultimately,Valiente triumphed over Alegria to win the championship 11 to 10. It was a perfect end to a beautiful afternoon in Palm Beach.

MorseLife Golf Classic Ends Season The MorseLife Golf Classic attracted over 100 golfers on February 24 at The Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter. The event is held annually to support MorseLife’s work in providing exceptional care to Palm Beach County seniors. Moe Tarkinow and Bruce Gendelman were Chairmen, and Irwin Peckman and Roy Apple were Honorary Chairmen for this hugely successful, soldout event.

MorseLife founded in 1983, is a charitable, not-for-profit organization, providing shortterm rehabilitation, long term care, independent and assisted living, home care, geriatric care management, adult day center, and meals-on-wheels.

MorseLife Dedicates Palm Beach County’s Newest Short-Term Rehabilitation Center 100,000 Square Foot Center Named for Philanthropists Sondra and David S. Mack MorseLife dedicated Palm Beach County’s newest short-term rehabilitation center – the Sondra and David S. Mack Pavilion – on the MorseLife campus on Haverhill Road. The 100,000 square foot, 120-bed Pavilion was the first of three projects costing $50 million dollars with over $22 million dollars raised to date through the generosity of donors to the nonprofit’s Campaign to Transform MorseLife. The Mack Pavilion is named for Sondra and David S. Mack, lead donors for the Campaign and long-time supporters of MorseLife. The Mack Pavilion includes a 6,500 square foot therapy suite, six ‘neighborhoods’ of 20 private rooms, dining room and lounging areas.
