Leviva is a short term for Leucism, Vitiligo and Variegation. In this collection I wanted to interpret how all these three are considered as autoimmune disease caused by genetic or environmental factors. All three creates similar pattern of white patches on skin surface of animals, humans and plants. The main idea behind this collection was to express diversity of nature and the study of beautiful coloured pattern it creates.
Here I was inspired by the idea hen I noticed similar pattern in animals and plants.That’s how I started researching about the white patches on the skin surface of plants, animals and humans.
These White patches appear on the skin of animals, plants and humans because of the autoimmune disease mostly resulting into fading melanin and sometimes it completely wipes out melanin from their skin which looks similar to albinism but the only difference between them is that albinism is actually a genetic disorder where vitiligo, variegation and leucism are autoimmune disease.
The purpose behind this collection was to describe the diversity around the world. It is often seen that animals and plants with such skin condition gets more valued and appreciated but in case of humans they get constantly bullied for their skin condition, by this collection I wanted put forward a message to every human being out there going through such conditions that they’re diverse and beautiful beings and people should respect them irrespective of their colour or skin conditions hence embrace and honour the skin that is more creatively designed than normal skin.
The collection comprises of streetwear garments which would be wearable pieces of art, a strong essence of being comfortable within themselves, realizing their capabilities, not asking approval from the society and portraying and carrying forward this message whilst creating a sense of community and empowerment.
