Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted?

You could say that my journey in the workplace has led me to my career. I’ve always been a creative person and have been inclined towards art. It happened organically and I’m glad it happened.

What was your “aha!” moment?

Well, when I was on the sets of the movie, “Bachana” in Mauritius for my first project as a hair and makeup artist, somewhere in the middle of that I realized that this is what I enjoy doing. It was there that I decided I wanted to do this for the rest of my life.

Who has been the greatest inspiration in your life?

I wake up every day and I see my mother, the way she takes care of me, the house and manages everything. The strength that a woman endures inspires me the most.The strong, smart, beautiful and confident women that surround me inspire me every day.

When time you felt completely discouraged and how did you push through it?

In the beginning of my career, the thought of being new in this field scared me. I started questioning myself about whether I would be a good enough fit in the industry to make a strong impact.

So in that hour of self-doubt, my passion for my work and my mother’s constant support pushed me through it.

a wonder to think that there are several different languages spoken in different regions of the world.

So, one thing to be ticked off my bucket list would be to learn another language. Whenever I get the time, I would love to learn how to speak Portuguese.

What does nobody tell you about being the boss?

The journey has taught me a lot. One of things that I figured out myself was that the hard work never ends.

In the beginning you have to put in that extra effort to reach a point of contentment, and then you have to work hard to sustain the best quality of work overtime.

Name on boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you?

It would definitely have to be Pat McGrath. She is a legend. Her mind is so creative and perfectionism inspires me to become more like her.

What was the best advice that your mentor gave you?

The best advice that my mentor gave me was “Don’t let the fashion industry change you”.

What are the top 3 things you cherish in your life?

While growing up I realized that the greatest thing in life is family and I’m lucky enough to have a family and friends like family who love and support me no matter what. Last but not least, I cherish my work because I get to do something I love every day. There is no greater joy than to have these things in your life.

What is #1 thing that is yet to be ticked off your bucket list?

I am oddly really intrigued by linguistics. It is truly

A normal work day in my life consists of me being on set for 18 hours.

To me, a #BossLady is someone who is passionate, consistent, hardworking and patient.

What did you learn from your biggest failure?

Alhamdulillah! I have not faced any specific hardship yet and I hope I don’t have to in the future either, but that does not mean that the journey has been easy.

Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with?

As I mentioned earlier, Pat McGrath is a huge source of inspiration for me so it would be an honor for me to have a dinner with her. I’m sure I could learn a lot from her in that short amount of time.

What advice would you give to young girls out there who have dreams and goals like yours?

The one advice that I would like to give to all the young girls out there is that keep working hard, be focused, know exactly what you want and do not stop until you achieve it.

The Cookie Skillet

This week, Team Paperazzi headed over to a cute little café Kookie in Karachi. The café has been decorated with a lot of love and care, with a brightly coloured pink sofa, a window display of dolls and cupcakes, and not to forget, some super cute artwork.

The food was rich in flavor and the desserts were a ten out of ten. Kookie will definitely be our go-to when we have a sweet craving!

Maybe an interior designer.

There are so many but Mahira Khan is on top of my list.
