Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles!

Where did you choose to go and why?

It was going to be my graduation trip and probably the last one with all my close friends, so it just had to be really special.

Most of us wanted it to be fun, relaxing but at the same time wanted to have some trekking experience as I had never done it before. Therefore, we chose Hunza and Naltar. Hunza primarily because it's one of the hottest tourist spots in the country because of its cultural heritage, it's hospitable people and off-course because it's beautiful. And Naltar has the most gorgeous lakes and who wouldn't mind camping under the stars .

It was with all my university friends.

Where did you stay?

In Hunza, since we were with a travel company they had got

us bookings in Embassy Hotel, Hunza which was pretty amazing. Huge terraces, good rooms and hot water that was definitely a bliss in that chilly weather. On the other hand, in Naltar it was under the open sky, we had planned to do camping and nothing beats that experience.

What are the best shopping spots there?

The karimabad bazar has the most gorgeous stuff. From precious stones to their amazing jewelry pieces and arts and handicrafts. If you go to hunza, I don't think anyone will come back empty handed. It's irresistible not to shop while you walk in that bazar. Personally, I was in love with their traditional dresses and beautiful feather caps. If I wasn't short on money i would have gotten a dress for sure. But nonetheless I got a few birthstones and rings for my mum and sister.

Suggest some amazing restaurants there?

Probably everyone who's been to hunza knows about this one. Cafe de hunza, the best one in hunza for sure. So If you go to hunza you wouldn't want to miss their hot chocolate and Nutella pancakes. Hunza is also famous for a cafe Kha Basi at Altit fort that is solely run by women of hunza which makes it a source of attraction for tourists as well.

Finally, any tips?

Take a camera along to capture all the moments but remember to forget your data connection or mobile network if you actually want to make the most of the experience. You'll get to update once you are back so try and enjoy the time there.

Think of it as a break from all that. Also I would just say our country is beautiful than we think it is. I feel we need to learn more about places in our own country through travel before we go on traveling to others.

What can you do over there to relax and unwind?

I remember we used to come back to the hotel 8 or 9, have dinner and then just leave for the bazar around 11. Maybe just sit at some small restaurant and order tea and play flip a coin or monkey. Just a few hours of good laugh and chilling after a long tiring day seemed like a perfect end.

Also At times I enjoyed going on my own as well and interacting with the local shopkeepers, getting to know how their lives were. It just makes you feel more connected to the place you are visiting, you probably start feeling at home as you get to know them more even though you are not in its literal way.

Tell us about the sights noone should miss out on To get a taste of it you must see the two historical forts Baltit and Altit. Another one is the Eagles nest view point where you'll love to go either to see sunrise or a sunset over the entire Hunza valley since it's the highest point in the area and definitely worth experiencing. A boat ride at the Attabad lake is also a must. Also you can't miss traveling to the Khunjerab pass where we share the border with China. Surrounded by gorgeous snow capped mountains and freezing breezy wind that'll sure freeze you but the place itself just takes your breath away. Since we also went to Naltar for camping I would totally recommend whoever goes their to definitely stop by each of the famous 3 lakes.
