According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the vow was made during the 270th Corps Commander Conference (CCC) held with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir in the chair at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday The Forum reaffirmed Pakistan s unyielding resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any act of aggression or misadventure
The CCC reiterated Pakistan’s strategic stance “No one can coerce Pakistan through the use or threat of force The nation will take all measures necessary to safeguard its vital interests
The CCC held a day after at least six people, including three students, were martyred while over 40 others mostly students were injured after an “explosiveladen vehicle” targeted a school bus near Zero Point in Khuzdar on the Quetta-Karachi highway when it was on its way to drop the students at the Army Public School in Khuzdar Cantt
The forum undertook a comprehensive review of the prevailing internal and external security environment, with particular emphasis on the successful conclusion of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, a decisive chapter of Marka-e-Haq,” the statement read
It was observed that “following its military failure in the wake of the Pahalgam incident India so-called and self-claimed victim of terrorism but actually a perpetrator of terrorism and the epicentre of regional instability, has upscaled the use of covert means, employing non-state actors to pursue its destabilisation agenda,” the ISPR said

Promotion to field marshal
ON E of the main purposes of the promotion of Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir to the rank of field marshal seems to have been a declaration of victory It also sent a strong signal to all three armed forces that their contribution during the recent Maraka-i-Haq encounter with India was appreciated It was accompanied by an open-ended extension in service for the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheeruddin Babar Sidhu However, the resonance of Field Marshal Munir ’s promotion is far greater, for it acknowledges the particular role he played during the whole clash
It also makes Field Marshal Munir only the second Pakistani officer after Field Marshal Ayub Khan to obtain this rank However unlike Ayub who was himself President and CMLA and thus gave himself the rank Field Marshal Munir was promoted to the rank by an elected government
It is thus worth comparing this promotion with that of the ones by the Indian government First was the promotion of Field Marshal S M F J
Manekshaw which was made at the end of his threeyear tenure at COAS in 1973 His tenure as COAS had covered the 1971 War with Pakistan as a result of which Bangladesh came into being The second baton was conferred in 1983 on Field Marshal K M Cariappa the first Indian-born Commander-in-Chief 30 years after his tenure had come to an end That was definitely an afterthought and he had not achieved any considerable feat of arms in his tenure Thus Field Marshal Munir ’s promotion comes at a time when his appointment still has some time to run It may be remembered that the tenure was extended from the original three years to five by an amendment in the Army Act by which the tenure of the COAS was made five years or age 60 whichever was earlier
Promotions are one of the rewards received by military men after victory Others are medals It is expected that once the citations are sorted out there will be an awards ceremony where brave officers will receive gallantry

The recent operations have damaged India severely, which means that the USA s regional counterweight to China has been rendered nugatory It might be noticed that while the pilots of the PAF were Pakistani the planes and missiles were Chinese If a resumption of hostilities results in another thrashing for the Indian forces where does that leave the USA? Then there is the risk of an escalation leading to nuclear war Trump may have an interest in making India get back its mojo, but he can’t very well ask the Pakistani forces to throw the game Well, nothing is beyond him but the forces might well balk at this The other alternatives are to supply the IAF fifth-generation stealth fighters However that is very unlikely India is also likely to be in the market for a missile defense system The S500 entered service in Russia in 2021, the 550 is still planned, while the USA could provide Patriots and Israel the Iron Dome However, not only are none of these systems off-the-shelf they will all be prohibitively expensive
