Interview with Junior Stem Masters ELIS KALAFATOGLU

We visited pre-school students on our campus to learn about what they have done in their STEM classes. Some were eager to talk, some were shy. They told us about what STEM is , and shared what they have imagined and created in those classes.

Elis : Hello Green class.

Class : Hello.

Elis : I was checking STEM Junior Booklet and it really looked interesting. I thought I could make an interview with you. Can I? Class : Yes. We can tell you about it.

Elis : Perfect.

Elis : What have you done in STEM Classes? Çınar : We learned how to grow plants.

Elis : And which ones did you grow? Çınar : Strawberries.

Ipek : Pepper.

Ezgi : Peaches.

Elis : Peaches? Did you really grow

Ezgi : No. I just like peaches.

Elis : Oh. Me too Ezgi. Thank you.

Ezgi : But I grew tomatoes.

Elis : Oh cool. Why though?

Elis : Oh, I see. How can we survive on Mars? Çınar : There was a plant. What was it?

Class : Asparagus!

Elis : What about it?

Ezgi : We may grow it on Mars!

Elis : How? Surely it is hard job. Çınar : No no. We learned to build greenhouses.

Ipek : I used a big cartoon box to build a greenhouse.

Alp : And I used a plastic bottle.

Alp : The soil is salty. Good for Asparagus.

Ipek : We can water the soil and plant Asparagus in our Greenhouse.

Elis : Now, I understand. Çınar : We used our imagination for everything.

Ipek : We drew pictures of Mars, too!

Elis : This is lovely. What did you do with them?

Ipek : We made this “Picto-Book” Elis : This looks great! I guess you all had fun.

Whole Class : Yees!

Elis : Thank you for being so friendly, and answering all my questions.

Astroneer is a game which takes place during a 25th century gold rush. Players must explore the frontiers of outer space. They risk their lives and resources in harsh environments for the chance of being rich. .

In the begining, a space station launches you to an earth-like planet to start your journey.

You start to gather . resources to build your base. You should be careful, or else, without oxygen you can't breathe, and eventually you will lose the game. You can build rovers and trucks to help you explore the planets. .

The game can be played with up to 4 players to make the job easier. You can start your own game, too, and you can invite your friends. Who wouldn't want to travel to other planets with a friend?

As you progress through the game you can build a space ship to travel to other planets in the solar system. Every planet has a different eco-system. Developers are still working to add new features to the game and we are very excited about it!

SELÄ°M KORKMAZ

RC is the abbreviation of Radio Control. You control the car with a remote and race with it. It is a genuine hobby and getting popular in Turkey day by day.

There are two types of RC cars: Electric and gas, and of course, you will need batteries for the control panel.

Off-road cars can go either in the sand or dirt but high-speed cars usually need a circuit to race on. After fueling it, all you need is using the remote and being alert because they are really fast!

There are many competitions around the world. In Turkey, however, the hobby is not as common, yet. In Maltepe, Istanbul, there is a circuit, and I enjoy my time there with my off-road RC car during races.

Maintenance and repairment of RC cars teach me a lot about the technology of these cars.

He scored all of the points.

The game was finalized after 7 overtimes.

5- The tallest basketball player in the world was Manute Bol. He was 2.31. With his great height and long limbs he was a very effective defense player.

WHO SAYS I'M TINY? A School Trip to Miniatürk MELİSA EZGİ YARAR

Hey, look! I'm not small. Ok, I could be, compared to skyscrapers, apartment buildings, towers, castles, palaces and ... Oh, we are humans, and we built them anyway. You know what? There is a place in my own country, Turkey, where I feel like Gulliver, the famous fairy tale character : Miniatürk.

Even Galata Tower looked easy to climb.

We went on a school trip to Miniatürk in October, 2017.

The trip was fun and what we saw was quite interesting.

I took some photos there. The tiny buildings looked so real that we felt like characters living in those old days. Take this boat, for example. I wondered if I could get on it.

Miniatürk Museum has got many miniaturized forms of historical buildings such as İzmir Clock Tower, Pamukkale travertines , the Blue Mosque and so forth. If you want to explore the beauties of Turkey in one day, you shouldn't miss the chance to visit Miniatürk.

Hagia Sophia was also cool to see. This one also has red walls like the real one which was built between 532-537 by I. Justinianus, a Byzantium Emperor.
