LAUSD South Region Elementary School #3

Owen provided complete programming, master planning, and full-service engineering design services for a new K-6 elementary school. The 4.4acre ES #3 site is located in LAUSD’s South Region, in the City of Cudahy. The new Elementary School and Early Education Center (EEC) will have 951 new seats and is estimated to cost $47M. The school facilities will include classrooms, a library, multipurpose room, food service and lunch shelter, administration, playfields, and underground parking.

South Region Elementary School #1

Owen performed Structural Plan Check services under DSA for the South Region Elementary School project. It consists of two main superstructures that include one multi-purpose and two classroom buildings.

The structures are supported by a reinforced concrete, subterranean parking structure. The steel superstructures are all twostories tall. The subterranean parking structure is reinforced concrete and masonry. Construction cost for the project is estimated at $27.8 million.

Los Angeles Unified School District, South Los Angeles Unified School District, Humphrey’s Region Elementary School #4 Elementary School South Gate, CA

LAUSD South Region Elementary School #4

Owen provided complete programming, master planning, and full-service engineering design services for a new elementary school. The building design for ES #4 was site adapted to designs developed by our firm for South Region ES #3, on a 4.7-acre site located in the city of South Gate.

The design for ES #4 was planned so the building components can be laid out with maximum amount of flexibility for site adaptation.

Humphrey’s Elementary School

Owen is providing structural engineering services.

The Humphrey’s Elementary School expansion project consists of a two-level single story building housing a multi-purpose-room and food service area. Also included are lunch shelters, kitchen canopy, covered stairs and walkways, trash enclosure and other miscellaneous structures. The project gross area is approximately 12,000 SF.

Owen has completed several rehabilitation projects for BHS. We provided structural engineering services for the seismic strenthening to repair the damaged structural components such as beams, slabs, and walls of the Administration Building extensively using Fiber Polymer Reinforcement. We also provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the modernization of HVAC systems for the Admin, Old Shop Building, Classrooms, Auditorium, and the Gymnasium.

BHUSD Facilities Assessment El Rodeo K-8 School

Owen was contracted by Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) to conduct an extensive facilities assessment for El Rodeo K-8 School. This includes a detailed analysis of the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil (MEPC) systems. El Rodeo K-8 School is a 289,812 square foot school, located in Beverly Hills, CA and has approximately 767 students. The school was founded in 1927.

Thurston Middle School Addams Elementary School

Owen provided mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineering and Heating System Design services for various schools at the Long Beach Unified School District. We provided code compliance with applicable governmental and DSA requirements for project closeout.

Owen provided mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineering services on the modernization and new construction at three schools in the Laguna Beach Unified School District; Laguna Beach High School, Thurston Middle School, and Top of the World Elementary School.

Experience Where It Counts Saugus Union School Districts - CHPS Anaheim City School District - Commissioning Commissioning Services for the Emblem School Services for Seven Elementary Schools Project

Lincoln Elementary School Commissioning Saugus Emblem School Commissioning

The Saugus Union School District is targeting CHPS certification, in addition to commissioning services, on the Emblem School Project, which includes a two-story classroom building and a kindergarten addition. This project is located at 22635 Espuella Drive in Saugus, and is being designed for the High Performance Incentive (HPI).

Anaheim City School District (ACSD) is targeting CHPS certification, in addition to commissioning services, on seven elementary school projects. Each project includes four permanent one-story buildings and seven portable classrooms.

Owen was retained by the California Energy Coalition (CEC), on behalf of the Santa MonicaMalibu Unified School District and the City of Santa Monica, to conduct a comprehensive energy audit of the Edison School in Santa Monica, CA. The Edison School is a Spanish immersion school for approximately 435 elementary school students.

There are a variety of buildings on campus, typical of an elementary school. These include an administration building, a multipurpose building, a kitchen, a library, fixed classroom buildings, and “relocatable� classroom buildings.

Owen provided MEP engineering services to expand Desert Hot Springs High School for Palm Springs Unified School District. Owen developed design documents and provided assistance during construction for the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire & life safety, and computer networking systems. The expansion was designed to increase the size of the school from 1,000 FTE students to 2,200 FTE students. To accomplish this, the design team designed several new two-story classroom buildings, single-story classroom buildings, and miscellaneous small buildings, arranged around courtyards that facilitate student interaction conducive to the educational environment.

Santa Ana Unified School District Mountain Sweetwater Union High School District - MEP Upgrades, Commissioning and Measurement View Continuation High Schoo & Verification for Five Schools

Owen provided full-service engineering for the new Mountain View Continuation High School in Santa Ana, CA. This project is a high school for 400 Students for the Santa Ana Unified School District, and is designed for a 1.9 acre parcel and an additional 0.2 acres across the street from the school’s main entrance. The latter parcel is used only for additional student parking.

Owen provided MEP design services for (5) five facilities which included the construction of a new, 81,000 sf, three-story Academic/Administrative/ Library and Theater building at Sweetwater Union High School. Construction cost was $41,000,000.

San Diego City Schools - Mechanical Equipment Removal and Replacement at Farb Middle San Bernardino City Unified School District School Modernization of Seven Middle Schools

Owen is providing full service engineering including civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering services for the Modernization of Seven Middle Schools in the San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD).

Owen provided engineering services as a prime consultant to San Diego City Schools. One project was the Removal and Replacement of Mechanical Equipment at Farb Middle School. The equipment slated for replacement was well past its useful life.

New units were required for satisfactory space comfort.
