Dragan Pendic Chief Security Architect Diageo Dragan Pendic joined Diageo in 2011 as chief security architect. He has responsibility for driving strategic security solutions and provides leadership and guidance across the organization in the area of enterprise security architecture, information protection strategies and technology. Before joining Diageo, Pendic worked at Verizon Business, KPMG and Capgemini as a senior consultant advising a wide range of blue‐chip companies on all areas from holistic information security strategy development, risk management, governance and compliance, business continuity, security awareness, security architecture and technology implementations. Pendic has over 17 years’ experience architecting and designing information security solutions. He has an MSc in process engineering and is TOGAF 9, CISSP, CISM, CCSP certified alongside being a member of the Association of Enterprise Architects. Gerry Pennell OBE Chief Information Officer London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games A graduate in mathematics from the University of Manchester, Gerry Pennell’s career started in the development of mathematical models and real‐time software for applications in anti‐submarine warfare, gun and rocket artillery and for the Police. He then spent seven years with Barclays Bank, particularly specialising in the planning and project management of electronic banking systems for global and corporate clients. The next period in Pennell’s career was as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he established a track record in troubleshooting and delivering large time‐critical programmes and projects (particularly several M&A programmes in a quickly consolidating financial services sector). He then took the role as director of technology for the 17th Commonwealth Games held in Manchester in 2002. This role required the establishment of the technology department, the selection of key suppliers and sponsors and direction of the delivery of the IT and telecommunications for the Games. After the Games, and before joining LOCOG, Pennell was CIO for the Cooperative Financial Services and the Cooperative Group – a £9.5bn turnover group of businesses covering banking, insurance, retail etc. As well as the re‐engineering of the internet bank Smile and other major implementations, Pennell led an extensive modernization programme, including the out‐sourcing and off‐shoring of significant elements of IT. In November 2008, Gerry joined LOCOG as CIO responsible to lead the team of staff and partners delivering all the IT, telecommunications and other technologies required to stage the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London which, amongst many other innovations, saw a step‐change in the level of engagement with the digital consumer via smartphones and other devices. Pennell was also a visiting professor for the Information Systems Institute at the University of Salford 2002 – 2005. He is currently a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Fellow of the British Computer Society. Gerry was appointed OBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honours list. Adam Philpott Director of Security, EMEA Cisco Adam entered the IT industry 16 years ago, holding various sales roles at a value‐added distributor. His first exposure to networking was as the Cisco Sales Manager at Sphinx CST, then at Ingram Micro. In 2002 he relocated to Australia and joined Cisco, first in direct sales and then in sales management, running the Mid Market sales team. As part of the ANZ leadership team, he was an active member of ANZ sales council – responsible for sales strategy and execution across the region. Whilst in Australia, Adam also took an active role in corporate social responsibility as member of ANZ Civic Council. This involved a variety of philanthropic activities including working with indigenous job seekers and in healthcare projects with Sydney’s homeless. After 8 great years in Sydney, Adam relocated to Singapore to take on a different challenge, leading strategy and business development across Cisco’s core portfolio in the nascent Borderless Networks organisation. Most recently, Adam returned to his native UK to lead Cisco’s Security practice across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia.
