“Outdoor Retailer is probably the only place that in one given afternoon, you can see most of the SUP and Kayak manufacturers, and meet their best athletes and principals in order to see what they are really all about. You get a real strong sense of where a given company is with regard to culture, and where they may be headed and therefore what the potential is. That future potential is the key to success in a highly curated shop like ours. We started off as a small backpacking shop in downtown Charleston. Early on we tried to weave in the surf lifestyle just because that's what we were doing. Later it was great to witness and enjoy the gradual merger of surf, backcountry snow-sports, and outdoor. Now, take that one step further, and we have all these wild variations on paddling, kiting, surfing and camping. The lifestyle is expanding, and most of this stuff is held under one roof.
