Break Out The Good Dishes By Steven O. Evans, PhD

C

leaning can either be a chore or a cathartic experience. In July 1 of last year, I wrote about a song from Point of Grace 2 called, “How You Live [Turn Up the Music].” Some of the words include, “Use your good dishes.” Amidst the many personal challenges in the song, this one came to life for me this month. I started cleaning out my kitchen cabinets and china hutch. I had plates that were awkward to use because of the way they are shaped, but I kept them because I liked the color and style. I had other decorator plates that didn’t fit in the microwave or dishwasher. Silverware that didn’t match and came from who knows where. Lots of just “stuff” that was taking up space. It all went to Poverello and Out of the Closet so someone else can use them. Next was the china hutch. The “good” dishes are now my “everyday” dishes. The “special” glasses I now use all the time. The cloth napkins came out. And, I had bought a beautiful flatware set at Wilton Collective that makes the set complete. Why keep them locked away? Someone special taught me to bring out the beautiful things in life. Don’t keep them hidden away. What “things” in your life need to be moved away to make space for some amazing things? What joy might be waiting, that is there to be uncovered? Don’t be afraid to use your good dishes. Cause it’s not who you knew And it’s not what you did It’s how you live 3

May happiness be abounding 4. Steven O. Evans, PhD Editor in Chief 1 www.OutClique.com/turn-up-the-music 2 www.PointOfGrace.net 3 Point of Grace, “Turn Up the Music” 4 Dr. Angela Easterday-Holder, former Chair and Professor of Music at Carson-Newman University.

Bubbling Over An interview with Evelyn “Champagne” King

By Gregg Shapiro

I

n the vast and historical realm of classic disco, something celebrated with great exuberance and abandon on StarVista Live’s Ultimate Disco Cruise, there are songs that have stood the test of time and become legendary in their own rights. “I Feel Love” by Donna Summer, “YMCA” by Village People, “I Will Survive’’ by Gloria Gaynor and “Love Hangover” by Diana Ross, are certainly near the top of the list. Undoubtedly, so is “Shame” by Evelyn “Champagne” King. Released in 1977, the song remains one of the true gems of the era and sounds as fresh today as it did when it was first spun in discos back in the day. King, who is as effervescent as her nickname, continues to perform concerts to this day and is one of the disco artists who has had the honor of performing on all three Ultimate Disco Cruise. Always a delight, King was kind enough to answer a few questions in advance of the cruise.

Gregg Shapiro: Evelyn, you are one of the few Ultimate Disco Cruise artists who has been booked to perform on all three editions – 2019, 2020 and the upcoming 2022 excursion. What does that distinction mean to you? Evelyn “Champagne” King: It means a lot to me. It means that my fans truly appreciate and adore and love to dance, party and sing along with good music.

GS: As a performer, what does it mean to you to be able to connect with your fans in a setting such as the Ultimate Disco Cruise? ECK: I love it! It makes me feel like we’re in my living room. It brings a connection and we can let each other know how appreciative we are. You’re not just saying it over the airwaves, you can reach out and touch the fan. They can give OutClique.com | 7

you a hug. Of course, things have changed now.

GS: I definitely saw that when you performed on the cruise! One of my favorite parts of the cruise is the daytime panel discussions, followed by a Q&A with the audience. What do you like best about doing the panel discussion? ECK: I enjoy it because it’s real and it’s right

upfront. You get to speak to the artists. You don’t have to read about it. You’re right there, one on one. They get the chance to ask the questions they want to ask. For so many years they probably said, “I’d really love to just ask this one question [laughs]!” We feel the same way. We want to ask questions to the fans, like, “Why do you like our music so much?” What I want to know is, is it just the beat or is it the lyrics?

GS: 2022 also marks the 45th anniversary of the release of your breakthrough debut single “Shame.” ECK: [Laughs] thanks for saying 45! I just had a birthday. I’m proud to be here. I’m 61 and still hanging in there by the grace of God and my fans and my loved ones, my family. Even though the pandemic is here, I know that I’m still hanging in there. A lot of us that are still hanging in there from the ‘70s and ‘60s, we should just be grateful and try to move along with what is happening.

You never know when it’s your calling. We’ve lost so many, and my condolences go out to so many people that have lost family, friends, and fans from COVID-19. Now we’ve got the Delta Variant going on. We’ve just got to be safe and careful and listen to the right people.

GS: Did you realize at the time you recorded it how special the song was? ECK: No [laughs], I really didn’t. I just wanted to sing, to be a singer. [Working with producer] T Life, [and songwriters] John Fitch and Reuben Cross – “Shame” was it for me. It was like, “Let’s just take her on this road and let it happen!” I was 14½ when I got discovered. Looking at that and then looking at how far I’ve come, I’m just very grateful. GS: “Shame” was embraced by the LGBTQA+ community which helped it become a hit. Is there anything special you’d like to say to your gay fans? ECK: Yes, I do! I want to say, “Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you, as well.” I thank you so much for keeping me on the map, keeping me relevant, as well as my new LGBT community, the newer fans, I just want to say thank you so much and I’m blessed to have you in my life and in my career.

Understanding Your Fetish By Cory David Mr. Eagle WM 2020 / 2021

“Sadomasochism” (sadism and masochism) where do your thoughts go, when you read that?

What are the misconceptions about the “S&M” BDSM lifestyle? The practice of BDSM involves consent, trust in your partner, healthy role playing, and normally builds a strong relationship between the partners. Knowing your boundaries during play, and experimenting, is enjoyable for both, or all parties involved. Terms of play negotiated, safewords, codes and gestures recognized, why would this be associated with deviant or bad behavior? The modern age sexual revolution started over 50 years ago, what happened? What makes these subjects taboo, uncomfortable for some and exhilarating for others, how vanilla (nonkinky) have we become? Well not as much as you may think, the subculture isn’t isolated to the LGBTQ+ community, I believe, we are just more expressive. What areas of the subculture interest you? I know mine, as we look at different aspects of BDSM, I will share some of my personal experiences, fantasies and fetishes. I can’t expect to educate, without doing research first. I would like to hear any questions or any areas you would like covered on the subculture. “Dear Mr. Eagle” is a help column in every article. email questions to MrEagleWM@gmail.com. This is my anniversary article. I will be unveiling BDSM / Fetish / S&M / Kink and will break down the subculture to cover every aspect. In a respectful manner not to disrespect anyone and their beliefs or preferences, my goal is to inform you for a better understanding. 30 | OutClique.com

What if I tell you it’s a combination of two last names of authors from the 1700s and 1800s. They wrote novels about sexually stimulating practices from their personal experiences. The same practices are from ancient times, in the Egyptian, Indian, Asian and Arab cultures. Most scholars believe it was an integral part of human culture and may have been present in primates and primitive humans.

So what is your fantasy? Are you ready for role play, dom or sub, pup play, handcuffs, police officer, teacher, leather hood, dungeon, power exchange, where do you need a little tourture, oh, flogging, find your kinks and desires, and your second coming out? Maybe you are already there and didn’t even realize it. How do you escape from the responsibilities, deadlines, and the stresses of life? Thank you for your continued support. It has been inspiring. This year you read about legends, community events, leather history, human interest, culture, leather lifestyle, leather gear and now that we know each other a whole lot better, let’s dig a little deeper into ourselves. Thank you for the inspiration. This article is dedicated to my friend, Doug F.

Tickling the Ivories (& the Funny Bone)

with Pennington By John Hayden

Cover and article photos by Andy Armano | www.AndyArmano.com

H

e’s a piano virtuoso, a master storyteller and in his 18th century men’s dressing gown, a fashion icon. Pennington is an entertainer with a long-standing love affair with his fans. His open style of entertaining started early. Pennington made his public music debut at the age of eight and was soon heard playing Brahms by concert pianist Leonidas Lipovetsky. Several days later he was invited to study with the world-renowned artist. Now he’s telling OutClique about his latest and creatively titled production: The Pennington Show (Bedtime Stories From The Piano) Truly Ticklish Tales of Mysteries, Miracles and Mayhem! “A very long title, I know. I got the idea when I began to reminisce on unusual, strange and unexplained happenings in my life and in the lives of family and friends. I have always been very interested in the mysterious, the miraculous, the mystical. Remembering these true stories of things that weren’t supposed to happen but did, I formed an idea for a show.” While Pennington is an amazing piano man, he also steps away from the keys to tell stories and make a connection with the audience. “I wanted to magically weave a tapestry of true-to-life unforgettable tales, songs and mysteries, while mixing in a few jokes and common experiences. When I did that, I discovered people would laugh, cry, sing along with me or sit in absolute wonder and sometimes get goosebumps! It’s magical.” Mysteries and mysticism are broad terms, so Pennington explained what they mean to him and how they affect his performances. “My close friends will tell you that I can go on for hours about this subject, but I will contain myself for now. Simply stated, the definition of mysticism is: a doctrine of an immediate spiritual intuition of truths believed

to transcend ordinary understanding. A belief in the intimate union of the soul with that which is Absolute Love. One is often initiated into a mystic understanding through some extraordinary spiritual experience.” Pennington gets very personal about when the connection revealed itself to him. “In my case, it was a powerful mystical revelation which occurred while I was on a secluded beach in Maui. It became the catalyst of a profound change in my way of Being. It affected everything from the simple aspects of my daily life like my attitudes towards traffic, chores and people to my understanding of Reality vs. the self-concept of reality. Naturally, the show touches on some of that. I couldn’t talk about mysteries, miracles and mayhem without it. Don’t freak out, there’s lots of laughter and fun in the show! Joy is a by-product of being a Mystic!” Pennington’s aura and attitude are informed by what he describes as multiple encounters with angels. “I have personally had two encounters with angels. They didn’t look like angels with big fluffy wings and flowing robes, but as the experience unfolded before me, they didn’t fit into the norms of the way things happen. For instance, appearing seemingly out of nowhere at the exact moment that I needed something. They looked pretty normal, but something was just a little ‘off.’” These moments were impactful. “One of them was standing there one moment and gone the next. There was absolutely no possible explanation of how he managed to just walk away. We were standing in a large parking lot with no cars, no buildings close enough for him to get to within 4 seconds, no trees, no bushes to hide behind. Simply standing there one minute and gone the next.” Pennington says he’s had a lot of these types of mystical encounters, but teases he saves the best ones for the show. Born into a family with a long history of faith and spirituality, he OutClique.com | 39

faced discouragement when he and his partner became the center of a church’s infighting simply for being gay. He used that disappointment to seek inside himself and discover the joy of real spirituality, while releasing dogma and doctrine in favor of the magnificent and natural connection to true Source. Mayhem is an accurate part of the title and appropriate name for the show, as the COVID pandemic created mayhem for the production. Pennington had this show ready to perform and even had friends ready to watch as a ‘test audience’ and give feedback. Then came the lockdown. He’s been rehearsing the show in his home several times a week, adding a song here, dropping a story there. He says the extra time has let him perfect the show. Another part of the show’s title, (Bedtime Stories From The Piano), refers to his on-stage wardrobe which is old school casual. “I wear my pajamas and an 18th century men’s dressing gown on stage.” He looks fabulous in his outfit, and wants his fans to experience that freedom. “I encourage the audience to wear their pajamas too! It feels a little sexy, maybe naughty to wear your pajamas in public, but in my case, with an 18th century dressing gown, it just feels overdressed!” Tailored and colorful 18th century men’s dressing gowns aren’t easily tracked down at most stores. Luckily Pennington has a very talented friend. “The dressing gown was designed for me by a friend, Barney Fitzgerald, who OutClique.com | 41

is a professional costume designer. Barney designs costumes for opera companies in New York and Sarasota. We have known each other for years. I have always enjoyed trying on costumes. I used to hang out in Barney’s costume shop and go through the racks of clothes and try on everything that struck my fancy. He was nice enough to humor me and we shared lots of laughs! I do tend to hang on to costumes from previous shows I’ve done, so I guess my wardrobe is pretty deep.” While Pennington is the star of the show, he says the audience is his inspiration. “I love audiences and always have! Most of my performances are usually in larger theatres. The audience is sitting in the dark and I’m standing in a big pool of light. It is often hard to see them, but I can hear their vocal reactions and feel their emotions. When everything is working right, I send out a ball of energy to them and they send it back to me and it just continues to grow. Ahh, the magic of theatre!” His act would be right at home in a Vegas showroom, but he’s getting ready to sing for South Florida. Through a co-sponsorship with Epiphany Theatre and OutClique, he’s bringing The Pennington Show (Bedtime Stories From The Piano) - Truly Ticklish Tales of Mysteries, Miracles and Mayhem! to The United Church Of Christ in Fort Lauderdale September 24-25 and October 1-2, 2021. “What is so terrific about the space at The United Church Of Christ in Fort Lauderdale is that it is an intimate space. It seats about 300 people but due to COVID restrictions I believe they are limiting the seating to about 150. That will make for a wonderful intimate experience. I’ll be able to actually see the audience!” Opening night and closing night will have exclusive VIP

Champagne Dress Circle seating making the night even more special. Pennington also sees the audience after the show where he makes a personal connection that sometimes even he can’t believe. “After a show I have stood for hours shaking hands, signing autographs, posing with fans for selfies, listening to their stories, having my hands caressed. Seriously, it has happened so often that a fan will hold my hands and just stare at them and caress them and say how nice my hands are. I don’t get it, but it happens. Sometimes they write notes, send emails, and bring gifts. Fans are the reason I have been able to perform and do this thing I love, so I love love love them!” That interaction begs the question: Does he use a special lotion to keep his hands soft and moisturized? “No, not really. I think people just admire talent and those they perceive as “gifted.” We are all gifted in different ways. I have been lucky to have had some musical ability and have put in many, many long hours of practice to achieve a level of mastery at the piano. I was fortunate to have studied with some fine teachers and it doesn’t hurt that my student lineage goes back a mere six steps to Beethoven! ” The show will seem like a series of individual songs and stories, but Pennington says at the end, the audience will see a bigger, fulfilling picture. “I connect stories and songs which, perhaps, on the surface seem to be unrelated until you suddenly realize they are all related and there is a point to it all, a great overarching narrative. Whether we are laughing together or I’m in the middle of some eerie tale and goosebumps are creeping up your spine, or we are sharing a poignant moment that brings a tear, it all relates back to the same perspective.”

When Business Opportunities Knock By Rod Davis, CEO BBB serving Southeast Florida and the Caribbean

A

s a result of COVID and job uncertainty, many Floridians began to explore other ways to earn a living. While some opportunities may be worth pursuing, others may be set up to help someone else pad his or her retirement at your expense. The Federal Trade Commission, recognizing that business opportunities can be made to look appealing, and are often presented to individuals with significant financial backing, put in place some requirements to help you determine if the business opportunity is a viable opportunity to earn a living. Before you begin to explore new opportunities, I hope you will first do a self-assessment of yourself. Not everyone possesses the skills or characteristics to be an effective entrepreneur. There are tools to help you assess your strengths and weaknesses, but a good hard look in the mirror and some reflection on what

you do well and areas where you have struggled will help you determine if you have what it takes to run your own business. Some of the key traits shared by successful entrepreneurs are: • • • • • • • •

Disciplined Process Oriented Organizational Skills Self-motivated Resilient Effective Communicator Confident Innovative

There are many other traits that could be listed, but if you can’t affirm that you possess the right mix of skills to develop and manage a strong business plan, then being your own boss might not be your best option for success. OutClique.com | 45

If you are considering business opportunities, it is wise to devote the time, resources and use an objective mindset to review any options you are seriously considering. So, what is the Business Opportunity Rule and what does it cover? The FTC Business Opportunity Rule applies to commercial arrangements where a seller solicits a prospective buyer to enter into a new business, the prospective purchaser makes a required payment, and the seller – expressly or by implication – makes certain kinds of claims. Examples of what’s covered by the Rule include work-at-home opportunities like envelope stuffing or craft assembly where the seller offers to buy back merchandise from the bizopp buyer. Also covered: opportunities where a seller says it will help the buyer set up or run the business – for example, by providing the buyer with customers, accounts, or locations to sell products or services. Consult the Rule to find out if the opportunity you’re selling is within the definition. The full text of the FTC Rule is on the FTC website at: https://bit.ly/3fo4lKK The FTC Rule helps you evaluate any business opportunity by requiring the seller to comply with three legal requirements. 1. The seller must give the buyer a one-page Disclosure Document seven days before a prospective buyer signs a contract or pays any money for the business opportunity. 2. If the seller makes an earnings claim, the prospective buyer must receive a separate document that says across the top EARNINGS CLAIM STATEMENT REQUIRED BY LAW. 3. The seller must also comply with general truth-in-advertising principles, including avoiding deceptive practices. The Rule spells out a list of some “dos” and “don’ts.”

The Disclosure Document is intended to provide a potential buyer with key information to effectively evaluate the business opportunity. Some of the information included in that document is: •

The name, address, phone number for the business along with the name of the salesperson

A disclosure about any legal issues relevant to the business or business principles

The cancellation or refund policy

If any earnings have been implied or stated, an earnings claim statement as outlined in the rule must be attached

References to enable a prospective buyer to obtain feedback from at least 10 other individuals (fewer is acceptable only if they list all that have been sold)

Equally as important as the Disclosure Document is the Earnings Claim Document if any claims have been made. The FTC Rule also requires that claims be substantiated so that a potential buyer can determine what he or she will likely earn. Specifically, the statement must include written proof of any representations, and disclose certain information when a claim is made – for example, the start and end dates the earnings were achieved and the number and percentage of your buyers who got at least that result. The FTC Rule provides much more detail and it is essential that any business opportunity to be fully evaluated to determine if it is a good option for you. While the FTC provides some protection, ultimately, it is up to you to determine if a business opportunity is something you are willing to explore. Make sure you have the right stuff to make it work as a business owner. Be honest with yourself. Then, fully explore various options using solid information and data to find the opportunity that motivates you and has the potential to be successful. OutClique.com | 47

teward Health Care System has successfully completed the acquisition of five hospitals in South Florida from Tenet Healthcare including North Shore Medical Center, Coral Gables Hospital, Hialeah Hospital, Palmetto General Hospital in MiamiDade County, and Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Founded by CEO Ralph de la Torre, MD, who grew up in Florida, the son of Cuban immigrants, Steward Health Care’s physician-led model was built to help patients unlock access to high-quality, compassionate, value-based care in more communities across the U.S. and internationally. “Steward Health Care takes a physician’s approach to patient care. Everything we do is about improving our patients’ well-being, which requires not only tailoring care to each patient, but also learning from and engaging with every community we serve,” said Dr. de la Torre. “I am humbled by the opportunity to expand our footprint in my beloved home state. We know there are health challenges here and we are eager to work with local leaders to address them together.”

priority,” said Dr. Shetty. “Already, we have begun to redeploy PPE, ventilators, and other vital supplies needed for the care of COVID patients from our other facilities throughout the country to hospitals in this market. As a physician-led hospital system, we are committed to providing all our patients with access to critical supplies and treatments, and we will work hard to build trust and ensure the best possible outcomes by listening to and learning from our partners in South Florida.”

The five new Steward hospitals will be overseen by Dr. Sanjay Shetty, Steward’s President of North America. Dr. Shetty has held numerous leadership roles at Steward Health Care, overseeing the growth and expansion of care around the United States. As the global pandemic grew, Dr. Shetty led and oversaw the establishment and implementation of innovative clinical protocols to meet the challenges posed by COVID-19.

In addition to Dr. de la Torre, several Steward senior leaders have deep personal and professional ties to the region. Dr. Octavio Diaz, Steward’s Chief Medical Officer, previously practiced at several of the newly acquired facilities. Mr. Rubén J. King-Shaw, Jr., Steward’s Chief Strategy Officer, served as Chief Operating Officer for Neighborhood Health Partnership prior to serving as Florida’s Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration under former Governor Jeb Bush.

“Steward understands that combatting the resurgence of the COVID pandemic in South Florida is our most urgent and immediate

This transaction brings Steward’s total hospital count to 44 worldwide and more than doubles its presence in Florida.

What is the Limit? By Eric Noel Roman

Ready, set, go! That’s right, another race, and another first for me. This time I was committed to 100 miles of heat, no shade, and different types of terrain. One thing I am certain of is that I worked hard before getting to that start line. I trained late hours at night and gave up time to have fun only to run extra miles weekly. I was pushing every limit. Even though I sacrificed a personal life to tend to my responsibilities, and still train, I did not find it to be a negative sacrifice. I took extra time to reassure myself that when I approach the race I would be prepared for any obstacle thrown my way. I ran high noon on the hottest days to acclimate to the heat and sun. I took time to run in the dark and in the rain to prepare for discomfort and unstable footing. I checked my nutrition intake, and I also pushed to not eat as often to adjust to long periods of work without foods. All of this preparation paid off. In the end I tapped out due to a technical mistake at mile seventy, but I know I was ready and did not have fear of failure. I was confident. As you improve your life and push your personal limits remember that every day you wake up you are just training for the long run. It will pay off and you will make it farther than you think. Eric Noel Roman DJ, obstacle racer, motivational writer from North Miami Beach, living life one day at a time, and making a difference one person at a time.

NEWLY LISTED

Remodeled and Move‐In Ready 2/2 House Lake Santa Barbara. Two Car Garage. Room For Pool. Walk to Beach. Asking $579,900. I loved working on these recent properties I listed for sale. All of them were unique, friendly and quick sales.

“Joe jumped in when I had a time crunch and worked VERY quickly to get the listing up in ONE DAY! That resulted in the first showing 12 hours later. He also listed it higher than we thought realistic, which was a good move given the market. Joe really listens and immediately understood the special value of this property and highlighted that in the listing and showings, ensuring we received excellent offers. He also did a great job of managing my expectations so even though it is a crazy market right now, I was always prepared for what was coming in terms of offers, inspections and appraisals. Joe also worked closely with the purchaser's realtor, smoothing the process. We got a very good price for the house‐‐and I think the purchasers got a good price too! I truly feel that THAT is what makes Joe tick; what makes him happy and fulfilled.” Since 1985 ‐ Row Iliescu, Ft. Lauderdale

Athletes Score Big When Coming Out

Photo credit: Twin Design | Shutterstock.com

By John Hayden

F

rom hostile attitudes to relatively welcoming environments, the world of sports is more open to athletes coming out and unapologetically living their best lives. This summer has seen a pair of high-profile professional athletes tell the world who they are. Carl Nassib grabbed the most headlines when he posted his coming out on Instagram. “I just want to take a quick moment to say that I’m gay. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now but I finally feel comfortable enough to get it off my chest.” As a defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders, Nassib is the first NFL player on an active roster to be openly gay. He says the team and the league support his decision to come out. “I would not have been able to do this without them. From the jump I was greeted with the utmost respect and acceptance.” The NFL said, “The NFL family is proud of you, Carl,” while the Raiders said, “Proud of you, Carl.” The team has invested a lot in Nassib, and he is in the middle of a three year contract worth $25 million. That means once the season starts, barring injury during training camp or pre-season games, Nassib will become the first openly gay player in an NFL game. He says he struggled for 15 years to come out. Beyond visibility, Nassib

is using his platform to make a difference by donating $100,000 to the Trevor Project, which is dedicated to helping LGBTQA+ youth. Hockey player Luke Prokop became the first person under a NHL contract to come out. The 19-year-old plays for a Canadian farm team of the Nashville Predators. In an Instagram post he said, “I am no longer scared to hide who I am. Today I am proud to tell everyone that I am gay.” Prokop hopes coming out will improve his chances of making it in the NHL. That’s a long way from when professional sports, and their fans, were encouraged to be openly hostile to the LGBTQA+ communities. Now teams, including the Florida Panthers and Florida Marlins have Pride events. The Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade has become an outspoken advocate for the trans community since his daughter Zaya came out at age 11. There have been other high profile gay athletes. In 2014 Michael Sam became the first openly gay person to be drafted by an NFL team, but never played in a game. In 2013 Jason Collins came out and became the first openly gay person to play in the NBA when he signed on with the Brooklyn Nets. OutClique.com | 85

Fired Up at WMODA

iener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA) exists because of the generosity of Arthur Wiener who is donating his vast collection of fired arts to our museum and sustaining us during these challenging times. We are also very grateful to many other museum champions for making WMODA the new home for their prized possessions. As a result, WMODA has become a magnet for lovers of the decorative arts and a popular cultural resource in our South Florida community.

Angela Scott’s love of Wedgwood led to our Art of Tea exhibition which would not have been possible without her extensive collection of teapots. Several interesting teapots have been added during the last few years to continue our social history of afternoon tea including delightful gifts from Briony Lawson, Maryanne Leckie, and the late Joan Stacke-Graham whose Spitting Image teapots of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher make visitors smile every day.

Several keen collectors are supporting WMODA with key pieces for special exhibitions. Caroline D’Antonio has acquired many stunning Art Deco figurines by Royal Doulton and Goldscheider for our Carnival & Cabaret exhibit. Jeff and Penny Spellens have contributed Goldscheider figurines to our Art Deco Gallery and their beautiful vintage dresses add flair to our Art of Tea exhibition. Find out more about the stylish fashions at WMODA courtesy of the Spellens family and Lisa Dodge in All Dressed Up. Lisa’s fabulous Trigère gown was brought to the museum by our local board member Ken Evans, who also introduced William Aberbach to WMODA. He gave us one of his novel Wedgwood shoe heels which continues to intrigue visitors.

Our Carnival & Cabaret exhibit celebrates the art of having fun and Don Kendall has contributed to the entertainment with his Menagerie clock by George Tinworth, which depicts mice enjoying a wild beast show. Like many of our visitors, Don had fun with our carousel horse courtesy of Dr. Patricia Sager Lane who also introduced Josephine Wall’s artistic legacy to WMODA. Many visitors will remember Pat’s engaging talks complete with fairy wings at the exhibition opening! Dr. Gwendolyn Reasoner also shared her expertise on American porcelain at our events and donated reference books to the museum’s research library which was initiated by the Polikoff family’s extensive gift of Wedgwood titles.

86 | OutClique.com

A different aspect of Wedgwood’s history is highlighted in our Fairyland Lustre collection thanks to Betty Issod whose star pieces are now in the museum’s permanent collection. When Fairyland Fever raged in the 1980s, Betty found treasures for many celebrity collectors including Whoopi Goldberg and Barbra Streisand. Arthur Wiener has also benefited from her discerning knowledge and experience together with many other specialist dealers, notably Arron Rimpley and Ed Pascoe. Sergio Gnesin, a specialist in Venetian glass, has introduced WMODA to many contemporary Murano maestros and he is presenting the Animalia exhibit at WMODA which opens on August 28, 2021. Murano glass has been an important influence on Dale Chihuly throughout his career as can be seen in our Art on Fire exhibit and we are grateful to Ted and Sharon Magill for helping us to tell the story with their Piccolo Venetians. Whatever the reason for parting with your treasures, you can rest assured that they will be appreciated by a whole new audience at WMODA. Even with the amazing Wiener

collection, there are still holes. Surprisingly we did not have any of the tiny size Royal Doulton character jugs even though Arthur’s collection started with the purchase of a Merlin jug in the 1960s. Virginia Matish remedied this recently with her gift of Royal Doulton character jugs in all sizes. We are also able to highlight miniatures thanks to Judy Rudin, who has loaned part of her amazing dollhouse showcasing tiny ceramics by Alex Meiklejohn. Even the smallest piece can make a big difference to the impact of WMODA. At the other extreme, the largest gift that we have received at WMODA is the Niagara porcelain chandelier which was donated by Lladró. Our visitors are having fun guessing how many fairies are dancing on the chandelier and you can read how this fairytale came true at WMODA. Thank you to everyone who is making a difference at WMODA and sharing this important legacy for the decorative arts. “I want to share my love for the fired arts and leave a legacy to educate and inspire future generations about the importance of art in our lives and culture.” -Arthur Wiener

Bobby Newberry Takes Fans on a “Ride” with His Music By Denny Patterson

B

obby Newberry may be known for choreographing music videos for high profile artists like Eminem, Nicki Minaj, and Missy Elliott, but the performer is stepping out on his own with the release of some brand-new tracks. In July, Newberry gave fans an infectious summer jam called “Ride,” which is a feel-good track about taking chances and chasing after life’s wildest dreams. With an accompanying music video, he showcases his own razor sharp moves with an all-male cast of dancers and appears in his first-ever intimate acting scene. “Ride” is the first single off Newberry’s upcoming EP, which he says will most likely turn into a fulllength album. Continuing to take chances, Newberry has plenty more surprises in store. He will perform “Ride” and a couple other new singles September 18, 2021 on the mainstage at Miami Beach Pride.

and hopefully, have a fond memory of a crush.

DP: You said you hope “Ride” breaks down barriers. What kind?

BN: I feel like there is such a stigma. For

example, it has been brought up in the media quite a bit recently about the whole Lil Nas X making out on the awards show, versus what happened with Adam Lambert. When he did that while performing live, he got such backlash and there was so much cancel culture on him for years. For me, I was scared to do anything like that for a long time because a lot of people were like, you can’t do that. People are not going to want to see that. People won’t receive it well. Even though I have always been openly gay, people are like, we just don’t want to see that. So, for me, I chose to fully do this moment for this video to break down that barrier. Hopefully, this will be something that is more acceptable in music videos.

Newberry took some time to talk more about “Ride,” his artistry, and his upcoming Pride appearance with OutClique.

DP: Have you always had a passion for singing

Denny Patterson: Can you begin by telling us more about the concept and inspiration behind your summer jam, “Ride?”

Like, that was the first thing I would do. Growing up, I would sing the Ariel song from Little Mermaid all the time. Who didn’t love Little Mermaid growing up? I would sing it. My cousins would come up to me saying, you sound just like Ariel. This is crazy. Then I remember everyone always asking me to sing, then I started dancing naturally by watching Michael Jackson and Madonna. I would rewind, play, rewind, play, and teach myself everything in my room by myself. I then entered myself in my sixth grade talent show, and I won. That was the first time I ever

BN: Always. I was singing before I was dancing.

Bobby Newberry: I wrote the song about a crush. I was trying to think, what can I talk about, especially during this climate, that will make people happy and feel good? What is something they can focus on that is a feel-good moment? There is nothing better than a crush. Crushes are the best. So, I wanted to do something that would make people feel good after hearing it,

and songwriting?

did anything like that, and I did it all on my own. No one helped me, and that is when people were like, he is actually talented. He should probably do something with this.

DP: You will perform “Ride” on the mainstage at Miami Beach Pride. What are you most looking forward to?

BN: Pride, to me, means so many different

things. My family used to tease me all the time as a kid, calling me f*gg** and basically treating me like sh**. I was never supported. So, to me, Pride is the ability to authentically be who you are and to live in a world where you can feel that you can be yourself. You can stand up and be who you are, and be proud of it without being scared. My whole childhood, I was always scared. My uncles were always like, you f***ing f*gg**, this and that. I always felt like I had to try and pretend to be more masculine than I was. So, Pride is being able to be who you are and be proud of it.

booked April 2020, and I was mid-training, already putting my set together. My agent kept being like, they still say it is happening, and I was like, are you sure? I don’t know. Everything is being canceled. It ended up getting pushed, and it was supposed to be pushed to the fall of 2020, then it got pushed again. Now, it is happening in September 2021. I am just so excited to be up on the stage and feel that energy. I have not felt the energy of a crowd in so long, especially in Miami. Miami is one of my favorite cities in the world. It has always felt like my second home. I used to go there 3-4 times a year before the pandemic. There is something about it to me that once I get there, I feel this overwhelming feeling of home. Even though I was born and raised in California. So, to be on the stage in a city that I love so much, be with that energy, be in front of a crowd, I am hoping and praying that the energy is going to be the same as I hope it would be.

aft Punk are finished and Air are on a break, but that doesn’t mean the end of French electronic pop. Polo & Pan is here to fill that void with its latest album Cyclorama. Polo & Pan is at its best when it keeps the beats pumping. The reinterpretation of one-hit-wonder Pilot’s 1974 single “Magic” may go a long way in helping us forget the ruinous use of the song in the Ozempic pharma ad. Other examples include the loping “Ani Kuni,” the club-hop of “Tunnel” featuring Channel Tres, the retro French disco of “Melody,” the Middle Eastern-influenced “Oasis,” and the bouncy “Jiminy.” As with the aforementioned Polo & Pan, Brit dance-rock duo Royal Blood is at its most thrilling when it aims for the dance floor on its new album Typhoons. This is exemplified by the

opener “Trouble’s Coming,” where fist pumping and booty bumping intersect. Ditto for the title cut, as well as “Oblivion,” “Hold On,” “Mad Visions,” and especially “Limbo.” Royal Blood deigns to give listeners a breather with the closing track “All We Have Is Now.” Clear across the musical spectrum one will find Where I Should End by Dublin-based female duo Saint Sister. Full of lush arrangements and stunning harmonies, just try not to feel your emotions stirring when you hear “The Place That I Work,” Saint Sister also interweaves subtle electronic instrumentation into its acoustic style. “Karaoke Song,” the best track on the album, is reminiscent of another musical twosome, The Aluminum Group. The pair isn’t afraid to use choice language when necessary, giving the

The lyrics on Hello Weakness, You Make Me Strong by female orchestral pop duo Gracie and Rachel are a little less airy-fairy than Ryanhood’s. Listeners can even detect the influence of Righteous Babe Records’ CEO Ani DiFranco in Gracie and Rachel’s vocal phrasing, as well as in the lyrics. Ruggles’ string-work on violin and cello also elevates the material. The songs “Sidelines,” “Speak,” “Trust,” “Listen,” “Undo,” from which the album gets its name, and the fittingly-titled “Floating,” are particular standouts.

Curmudgeons and atheists beware, the songs on Under The Leaves, the new album by Tucsonbased male duo Ryanhood, might be more uplifting and upbeat than you can handle, with vaguely religious references to boot. While the subject matter, including cultural scapegoating, is dark, the presentation is as relentlessly bright and warm as an Arizona day. Examples of Ryanhood’s sunny musical disposition can be heard on “The Fight,” “I Didn’t Have The Chance,” “Not Alone,” the title track, and the bubbly instrumental “Appy Returns.”

Show of strength An interview with Amy Armstrong By Gregg Shapiro Photos courtesy of Sean McGill and Ricardo Rivera (via Amy Armstrong)

L

ong known as one half of the musical duo Amy & Freddy, Amy Armstrong has stepped into the spotlight as a solo performer. Anyone who was fortunate enough to hear Armstrong perform with her former musical partner Freddy Allen, at any of the various cabaret venues or the multitude of cruises on which they entertained, knows that they are in for a sensational show whenever Amy hits the stage. Armstrong, who relocated to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico a few years back, was kind enough to take time out of her full schedule to answer a few questions for OutClique Magazine. 98 | OutClique.com

Gregg Shapiro: There must be something in the stars because a couple of weeks ago I interviewed your longtime musical collaborator, Freddy Allen. I first had the pleasure of hearing you perform when we both lived in Chicago and you were known as one half of the musical duo Amy & Freddy. What is the genesis of your musical partnership? Amy Armstrong: The genesis of our musical partnership was we met at an open mic night at Gentry (in Chicago). I had no idea who he

was. He had no idea who I was. It was magical from the start, and it kept getting better! We became Amy & Freddy and traveled the world for over 25 years!

GS: Having performed with Freddy for as long as you did, do you have a favorite Amy & Freddy memory that stands out for you that you’d like to share? AA: One of my favorite memories was when I

was playing on a cruise ship and I got to play the Main Stage for the first time. The thrill of performing for all those people at once, there is nothing like it! When you tell a joke and a thousand people laugh, it hits you like lightning. And when you sing and everybody is so silent and listening to every word you have to say it’s electric!

GS: How old were you when you first realized that you could not only sing but were in possession of a powerful instrument? AA: I remember singing for my second-grade

class and watching people smile or cry when I

sang. It was incredible how even at that young of an age I understood how music affects you emotionally. It affected me, too.

GS: What is your all-time, hands-down

personal favorite song to perform?

AA: At this moment in time, it’s “Cry to Me” by Solomon Burke and “The Best” by Tina Turner. Both powerful songs and both really hit on how I’m feeling emotionally right now. My favorite song changes all the time because I’m changing all the time.

GS: What is your all-time, hands-down least favorite song to perform for which your fans clamor? AA: Come on [laughs]! If you know me, you

know it’s the “Pussycat Song”! I love it…I hate it…but, hey…you never forget it [laughs]!

GS: With your background in cabaret, jazz, and musical theater tunes, is there a style of music you personally enjoy that might surprise the readers?

Birds of Paradise is iridescent and effortful. It is a provocative, immersive piece perched between fight and flight. Through this world premiere featuring film and installation, Miami-based choreographer Pioneer Winter continues their exploration of beauty and virtuosity outside the mainstream by creating a series of dance-based, queer solo portraits on the themes of agency, survival and transformation.

aking its name from the affectionate shorthand fans have long used, the beautifully renovated Parker Playhouse is reopening in September 2021 as The Parker with new guest experiences and a line up of top artists that builds on its more than half-century tradition as a stage for great entertainment. “When the Broward Center began managing The Parker in 2005, it was immediately clear that the performers and audiences loved the hall but that it was in need of upgrades after so many years,” said Broward Center President and CEO Kelley Shanley. “As a reflection of the important role The Parker has had in the cultural development of Fort Lauderdale, the City of Fort Lauderdale provided the initial funding to jumpstart the Campaign for The Parker. Thanks to the City of Fort Lauderdale’s early support and that of many generous donors we are now ready for The Parker’s revival as a vibrant, contemporary home for outstanding cultural and educational programming that honors its history as it forges its own place in the cultural landscape of South Florida for generations to come.”

Laughter Is the Best Medicine An Interview with Nurse Blake By John Hayden Photos Courtesy of nurseblake.com

E

ven without a pandemic, nurses are often overworked and underappreciated. Now they’re getting a night out, a good laugh, and the recognition they deserve. Nurse Blake is a licensed registered nurse who is also a viral video star across several platforms including TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook and he’s hanging up the IV bag and hitting the road for a comedy tour. “I am so excited. This is my second big tour,” Blake told OutClique. “This one is all about nurses putting in their paid time off (PTO) requests which almost always get denied because nurses are overworked. It’s about putting them first and sharing my story and life through nursing school and becoming a nurse.” Called The PTO Comedy Tour, the show is a funny behind the scenes look at the world of nursing. Of course, having PTO and vacation requests denied is something most people can relate to. “That’s a very good point,” Blake said. “People other than nurses attend my shows.” Blake grew up in the Orlando area and started working in healthcare 10 years ago in patient transport. In 2014, he received his nursing degree from Seminole State UCF’s Concurrent Program. Nursing is a very personal profession, an aspect Blake loves. “My favorite part about nursing is connecting with patients,” he said. “I think that’s what drives people into the nursing profession. As nurses, we get to spend a lot of time with our patients, more than any other type of healthcare professionals.” However, the job is still stressful, and Blake channeled that stress into viral stardom. “I was so stressed at work and I just needed an outlet to connect with other nurses,” he said. “I never ever would have pictured myself and my nursing career leading me in this direction. It’s definitely been a good outlet for me as my way to not only celebrate what I do but it’s also a resiliency builder.” Blake says what makes his show hit home is

its genuineness. “Everything I joke and laugh about has happened. I’ve either experienced it or witnessed it with a co-worker or peer that I went to school with or worked with.” His shows are especially popular with his fellow nurses. “I’m so excited,” he said. “I feel like nurses want to get out and need to get out and laugh with each other in a way that you don’t get to do at work. What’s so cool is all these people from different backgrounds and experiences coming together in a theater and being able to laugh together and cry together. No matter what type of nurse you are, we can all pretty much relate to the same thing.” Blake has millions of followers on social media and his commenters have formed a community. “My community’s very positive,” he said. “I try to keep my content an even mix of funny yet still professional. At the end of the day I’m a licensed registered nurse.” Many of the comments are from other healthcare professionals sharing stories that he says are often funnier than his videos and it’s that sense of community that binds them together. “I want to portray nurses in a good light while still being honest and authentic about what we do and the struggles of nursing.” The PTO Comedy Tour will be making a South Florida stop at the Broward Center Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 8PM at the Amaturo Theater. While he’s looking forward to the performance, he is also excited about going out after the show. “I love Wilton Manors, it is such a fun place. I spent some time there a few years ago. I’m definitely excited to spend an evening in Wilton Manors.” The show is hitting 48 cities and is a mix of new videos, stand-up, and skits. Blake says it’s going to simultaneously be hilarious and cathartic. “My favorite part about performing is bringing nurses together to party and celebrate them. They get pretty wild because we’re all connected. We may not know each other but when you look deep as nurses we are connected in some crazy way.”

Drag Talk with Style Superstar Carson Kressley By Denny Patterson

A

ward-winning television personality, style expert, interior designer, and New York Times best-selling author are just a few of the credits the multi-talented superstar Carson Kressley is known for. Beginning his career as an independent stylist who became invaluable to major designers like Ralph Lauren, Kressley became a breakout star after appearing as a member of the original Fab Five on Bravo’s hit reality series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which earned him a primetime Emmy and global following. Following Queer Eye, Kressley quickly became a well-known figure in the industry and went on to host multiple TV shows, appeared as a fashion critic and commentator on The Oprah Winfrey Show and Good Morning America, and participated in reality competition shows like Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars. Now, Kressley can be seen as a key judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, for which he now serves as an executive producer. A hardcore fan of the distinguished art form, Kressely believes drag is a great way for one to showcase talent and authenticity. On October 23, 2021, he will be hosting the annual Miss’d America Pageant at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Kressley took some time to talk more about the pageant and his love for drag with OutClique. Denny Patterson: You will once again be hosting the Miss’d America Pageant. Can you tell us more about this event? Carson Kressley: This has been going on for many, many years and the organizers who are still involved in the pageant organized this event as a fundraiser to raise money for HIV/ AIDS related causes back in the late 80s and early 90s. It was really a rally for our community to get together, to have some fun during a dark time, and raise some money for our own community to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Drag queens have always been superheroes in that regard. They have kept us laughing and

entertained in the darkest of times, so that is really where this started from. It is a very fun event, and we still get to raise lots of money for various LGBTQ causes throughout South Jersey and the Northeast. So, it is a fun night. We have fabulous queens, an amazing musical lineup, we have the Miss’d America dancers, and they are always hot, and it is just a great night at a fabulous casino. I think we have room for 3,000 people, so we need you all to buy tickets. Like I said, the money goes to amazing charities that support the LGBTQ community in South Jersey, Philadelphia, and the general Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas.

DP: There are several different drag styles and

aesthetics. What do you specifically look for in these contestants? To you, what defines great drag?

CK: Great drag to me, I think it is really

embracing who you are and bringing that forward on the stage, TV show, club, wherever you work your magic. Drag is an art form, and I think it is very, very personal. Bringing your own flair, personality, and what makes you special to the art of drag is really wonderful. That’s the kind of artistry we look for on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and it’s the kind of artistry I think our judges look for in the Miss’d America Pageant. It is really bringing you to the art of drag.

DP: Now, you have become one of the most beloved judges on RuPaul’s Drag Race. How meaningful has it been for you to be a judge?

CK: It is so fun and so rewarding in so many

ways. Friendships with Ru, Ross, and Michelle are great. When you see that banter on the judges panel and you see it while we are adjudicating the queens, that’s real friendship. We just enjoy one another’s company, and it’s like, the three of us and our guest judge are out at the club watching great drag. We are commenting and having a great time. So, first and foremost, it is really fun. Secondly, I’ve got to meet so many amazing people. We have such a great crew, a great production team, and of course, the queens that we get to discover first. We see amazing talent and watch them grow OutClique.com | 117

DP: Some people argue that the show has

become too mainstream, and it is ruining drag. What are your thoughts on this?

CK: I would disagree. The art of drag has been

such an amazing art form for a long, long time, and it was, unfortunately, cloistered in gay clubs. A lot of people didn’t know about the art of drag, didn’t see the art of drag, weren’t privy to it. Now, yes, we still have great gay clubs where people will do drag shows and drag pageants, but we now have RuPaul’s Drag Race on TV, and I think it’s great. I think it exposes an amazing art form. It celebrates our LGBTQ culture, exposes such people, and most importantly, I think the number one benefit of the show is that young people all over the world, from Bangalore to Boston, get to see people being their authentic selves and being celebrated for that. Seeing people like their favorite queen on the stage, and they say, I identify with her. I sometimes feel like an outsider, but now I know there’s a place for me. That is a fantastic thing because it gives hope and security to young people all over the world. That they can be just who they are, and that can be a great thing.

are as close as ever, you didn’t miss a beat, you seem like you still have the same chemistry, and I would just tell those people that we do because we still have a group text from, like, 2005. We are all on there and we still always talk to each other. I see Thom whenever I can, and I did a show with him for Bravo. I was just talking to Jai the other week and we are working on something in L.A. We have been very connected by that show. It was such an unusual experience to go through together. That was our first TV venture for any of us. So, to go through that crazy process and that roller coaster ride together, it has really bonded us in a special way. Doing the reunion special was just like another day where we all get together and hang out. We don’t get together as the five very often, but we always see each other in smaller groups. It was fun, and it just felt like we were back at it again.

DP: As we all know, you rose to fame by being

the original fashion savant on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. How was it reuniting with your Fab Five brothers for E!’s Reunion Road Trip?

CK: That was great! There was some feedback after the show saying, oh my gosh, you guys

on the show. For me, that is my most favorite thing. Seeing a queen that we have never seen before who is maybe just starting out. They have this fantastic opportunity to be on the show, and we get to see them learn. We get to see them embrace who they really are. We get to see them blossom in this environment and become a fierce drag queen. That’s a really fun process to get to watch from a front row seat.

South Florida Symphony Orchestra Returns To Live Performances By Denny Patterson Photos courtesy of Steven Shires

G

uided by the belief that music is pivotal to community engagement, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO) brings vibrancy and innovation while strengthening public commitment to the arts. Like millions of other performing arts venues across the world, the SFSO had to overcome the challenging hurdles of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, instead of canceling shows, the SFSO kept their season going by presenting orchestral concerts virtually and not playing back concerts that had been previously recorded in other seasons. “We did all our Masterworks concerts and children’s concerts virtually, but it was an experience that, hopefully, we will never have to experience again,” Maestra Sebrina Alfonso says. “It certainly changed the way we look at things. We made sure that we had professional 122 | OutClique.com

videographers and audio engineers, and we feel proud with what we put out to our patrons. The most interesting part of all this, because we were able to do virtual performances, I think in some ways, we reached many people beyond our group.” Although the virtual performances were a success, Alfonso is ecstatic to bring back liveaudience concerts for the orchestra’s 20212022 season. “We missed our patrons and friends who love this music as much as we do,” she says. “Being able to share and feel their energy. We are looking forward to seeing our patrons who have been with us for years, and getting to know the new patrons who are starting to come and become a part of our family. There is something about the energy in a live performance that you get from the audience. That is special.”

Kicking off with a bang in November 2021, Masterworks I will feature Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, Mussorgsy’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, and a performance by celebrated violinist, Lara St. John. Masterworks II will feature Handel’s Messiah with baritone Neil Nelson, tenor Martin Nusspaumer, soprano Brittany Graham, mezzo-soprano Rehanna Thelwell, and the South Florida Symphony Chorus. Audiences will hear Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, “Pathétique” and the world premiere of John Gottsch’s Princess Yurievskaya during Masterworks III, while Masterworks IV will deliver Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos in E-Flat Major, K. 356, featuring Catherine Lan and Tao Lin, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, Opus 56, “Scotch,” and Rossini’s The Italian Girl in Algiers Overture. The season will end in April 2022 with Masterworks V, which will feature Copland’s Clarinet Concerto, Mahler’s Adagietto from Symphony No. 5, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-Flat Major, “Eroica,” and a performance from clarinetist David Shifrin. “We are trying to excite the audience and bring

them music that they love,” Alfonso says. “We are still performing in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Key West. Depending on how COVID goes, we may add some other concerts that are more family-friendly and geared towards children. Since I started this orchestra over 20 years ago, we have always had children’s concerts.” The upcoming season will bring another exciting change as the SFSO moves to The Parker, which is still part of the Broward Center family. A $30 million renovation has provided a new look and more seating capacity. “We have played there before, and it’s funny because some people think The Parker is better,” Alfonso says. “We’ll see! We are there for the year, and if it works out, we will stay there. We like the idea of going in there with its brandnew look, mission, and being a part of that. We are very excited to have the opportunity. I think it will be a little more amenable and available for us. Like all the halls around us, we are going to try and fill up every day to make up for the losses. We certainly want to be a part of that and have access to any concert or event. The hall is larger, and I feel like that gives us the opportunity to have more people to come and make it more affordable. We give a lot of tickets for education and to a lot of students.”
