Uniform
O Children should take pride in their uniform and are expected to be dressed smartly at all times, including on PE days.

O Focus on presentation.
O Children should be reading at least 4 times a week at home and recording this in their reading records. Reading records will be checked every Tuesday.
O Spelling tests will be on a Thursday.
O As much as possible, English work will be take inspiration from our Topics.
O Writing and skills will be developed in stages, building up to an independent piece of writing every week.
O Work will include both fiction and non fiction genres an will be in the form of recounts, reports, play scripts, letters, information texts, instructions and fiction writing.

PE/Swimming
O PE will be taught on a Thursday and swimming will be on a Friday each week.
O Thursday sessions will be outside and children should come to school in their PE kit on this day.
O Earrings to be removed for all PE lessons
O Children need to have the new PE sweatshirt without a hood
O If your child is in school, they are expected to take part in PE and swimming unless they have a doctor’s note
Computing
O Computing will be on a Thursday with Mr Hines.
O E-Safety/Online Safety is taught across the school explicitly each half term.
O As technology and the internet are being used more so now than ever by children, it is very important to know what your child is using technology for and to monitor this closely and carefully at home.

Homework
O Homework will be set through Google Classroom each week. Other notices will also be shared through this platform so please check it daily.
O RE homework will be set each week.
O Mental maths objectives will be set each week –tested on Thursday
O Spellings will be set each week – Tested on Thursday
O Maths and English homework will be set on alternating weeks and should be completed in the maths or English homework books.
O Presentation standards for homework are the same as in class. Children will be required to redo their homework if it doesn’t meet expectations.
O Please ensure your child reads at least 4 times a week and spends time practising their times tables at least 3 times per week.

Opal Play Reminders
We live in a country with variable weather. It should not stop the children from playing outside.
O Appropriate clothing O Coats/Wellies etc… The children will be playing outside in MOST weather.
Governors’ Fund
O As we start the beginning of a new academic year, we would like remind parents about their contribution to the School Development Fund for 2022/23. These contributions of £100 per family really do help the school community and are essential to keep the school buildings in top condition. As you are aware, governors are responsible for 10% of all building costs.
O There are some very large essential maintenance projects coming up in the next year and governors will be responsible for 10% of the cost, and without your support we cannot commit to these projects. So therefore, if you are yet to make your donation please can you do so. If you want to email the school admin@ourlady.surrey.sch.uk we are happy to provide the governors account details so you can make a transfer or provide a standing order form so that staggered payments can be made monthly or termly.
