Tell us about your practice. Our practice, South Florida Sports Medicine Associates, has been serving the West Broward community for 20 years. We are ingrained in the community and provide a broad set of services, including orthopedic, surgical, sports medicine, pain management, and podiatry medicine along with physical therapy services. My particular specialty is Interventional Spine, Sports and Regenerative Medicine. I
“I have deep compassion for every one of my patients.... My philosophy is to treat every patient like family.” treat patients with neck, back, and joint pain by using various interventional procedures to help relieve pain. I also use new, state-of-the-art biologic and regenerative medicine therapies like plateletrich plasma and stem cell therapy to treat my patients. You are at the forefront of pain management. Tell us about some of the newer treatments you are providing your patients. I provide the latest procedures for the treatment of chronic pain. These include the
Intracept Procedure which helps people with certain types of lower back pain, the Coolief Procedure, which uses specialized radio frequencies to “turn off” specific nerves causing pain and the MILD Procedure which restores space in the spinal canal to improve back and leg pain. I also provide my patients with stem cell procedures that other physicians may not. All of these new treatments are designed to help reduce pain and improve quality of life. In fact, some of them can be done right here in our office while others are performed at the Weston Outpatient Surgical Center. What types of patients do you see? I see patients of all ages, including pediatric patients, adolescents, as well as adults and seniors. What other services does your practice offer, besides paint management? My partners and I provide a multidisciplinary approach to treat a broad spectrum of potential ailments. These include everything from sports-related foot and leg injuries in children all the way to arthritis or hip injuries with our senior patients. We have experts on staff able to treat all joint, bone, ligament, muscle, tendon, and nerve injuries. How is your approach to patient care different? I have deep compassion for every one of my patients. I always take the time to explain their condition and treatment options calmly and in an easy-to-understand manner. My philosophy is to treat every patient like family. Is there anything else you’d like us to know? My wife, Dr. Marie Jones, who is a pediatrician, and I not only work in Weston but also live here. I feel a strong connection to this community. It is an honor to provide the highest possible care to the community where we are raising our children, Aiden, and Olivia. Where is your office located?
