COMMUNITY NEWS Where is George? Weston Encourages Residents to Explore its Parks

George, the Weston Pond Apple Snail, is a historic figure, dating back at least 3,000 years. His pond apple snail shell was found in 1990 during the excavation of the oldest wetlands features in Southeast Florida, Weston Pond, which is now The Ridges neighborhood. George has returned to Weston! He wants you to explore some of his favorite parks. We need your help to find the parks he enjoys visiting.

Follow Weston’s official social media accounts over the next few weeks, or visit George online at WestonFL.org/Parks/George. There will be clue about where Geroge is. If you think you know where he is, visit that park, snap a pic and post it on social media. If you are one of the first 20 people to post you could win a Weston “swag bag”. See if you can find the park he visited.

Watch for the Clues

A new clue will be posted each week. You can participate weekly, but don’t worry if you fall behind or join in on the fun later, just be sure to log each of your entries no later than 11:59 p.m. on November 29, 2020. Contest rules: Snap a photo of yourself (or members of your household) at the park that you believe George visited in that week’s clue. Do not reveal your park answer on social media!

Visit WestonFL.org/Parks/George to log your entry for each week and upload the photo that you took at the same location of the park where George is shown in the clue.
