With thousands of readers, there has to be at least two people who are interested in tractor articles. So I need just one person besides myself and we are good to go!!

The workhorse of my small tractor fleet, is my second oldest, but at 32 years old, it is still going strong and is my go-to tractor for the heavy work. It’s the one that ventures off of the woods road to blaze new trails and to haul out wood. It is also the only tractor that has the space to carry the many items needed for the hard jobs.

My chainsaw sits in a case out on one rear fender, while an axe sits inside the cabin beside my seat. Outside on the loader, I have a bracket to hold my peavey for moving logs or trees around if needed. Until I find a logging winch or wench, I have a 20 plus foot hunk of chain hanging off brackets on the other side of the loader. Also hanging off the loader are lopping shears for trimming branches (instead of using chainsaw), a two-ton manual winch for hauling me (hopefully) out of places I shouldn’t have been, and a shovel (for self burial if nothing else works)!!

Inside the cab, I have a hard hat with face shield, that I should use but never do, two or three pairs of gloves, a small maul-like hammer (protection from coyotes and angry wife), numerous bolts and pins, tools and a fairly short eight foot chain, along with gas and chain oil for my chainsaw.

The tractor started out life weighing a little over 4,000 lbs but now weighs somewhere in the vicinity of 120,000 lbs and can barely move (just kidding)!!

It is amazing, when I think about it. With all of the problems in the world both near and far, why would I write about a tractor?? Well for one thing, tractors aren’t depressing!! One of the great things about our publications is that with possibly a rare exception, all of the news is positive. And believe me, that can be very hard to find today. While there is nothing wrong with getting the “real” news on life, a continuous barrage of bad news is depressing and so people begin to feel hopeless about the future and that there is nothing that can be done.

Fortunately, our publications are just loaded with people and organizations being very busy trying to solve at least some of the world’s problems and believe me, that is a good thing. Change almost never occurs out of depression, but rather hope and inspiration. 800

(8) Bob Nolan had one child – Roberta Irene (Bobbie”) Nolan.

She was an issue from his first marriage. She married Ken Coburn. [Earl Nolan, brother of Bob Nolan, “had one daughter and so the line of the ‘Nolan’ name, borrowed by Harry B. Nobles in 1917, has become extinct.”]

(9) Roberta Irene (“Bobbie”) Nolan had one son; his name is Calin Ray Coburn. He is Bob Nolan’s only grandson. Calin was born in 1953. On the computer site Calin has established one reads: “Bobbie had planned to name her son Colin Coburn.

Just as he wanted his music to be different from everyone else’s, Bob wanted his grandson to be different, too, and he suggested she change the spelling but not the pronunciation of the name.

‘Just to be different,’ he told her. Bobbie spelled the name of her son C-a-l-i-n. His father, Ken, was a handsome and personable young man from a large family in Arkansas.”

(10) Calin Ray Coburn has three children: Cayleen Coburn, Miles Ray Coburn, Connor Nolan Coburn.

Our series, “Hempstead, Hatfield Point, Hollywood Connections”, has centered on Bob Nolan (born Clarence Robert Nobles). He spent three years of his early life at Hatfield Point with his paternal grandparents. It was his music in later years for which he will be remembered.

Research reveals the following – Bob Nolan “wrote songs that were entirely original – often pure poetry set to unusual and difficult melodies. An admirer once told Bob that he painted the West – and his brush was music.”

Bob’s only grandson, Calin Coburn, once wrote: “Bob was not as complicated a man as you might think. His life was devoted to one person – himself. Bob was Bob. An island unto himself.

Bob was internal. Bob was just writing music, enjoying his life, making songs, making words. And the way they go together is the gift of Bob to us.”

Why not dig out your old records, cassettes and discs and enjoy a few songs of Bob Nolan and the “Sons of the Pioneers”?

Exam Week June 11th-15th: beverages & pancake mix - each graduate is expected to bring two beverages (either pop or juice) that will be served at both the Prom and the Graduation Reception. Also, students with last name beginning A–L are asked to bring one box of pancake mix (it must be the type that is mixed with water) and students with last name beginning with M–Z are asked to bring one bottle of syrup. Bring these to Room 124.

Baccalaureate Service: sweet trays, fruit trays, dips, etc, drop these off in the basement of the church when you arrive for the service.

Prom, June 18th: 8:00-9:00am, drop off snacks, veggie trays, fruit trays, dips, etc. in the school lobby. Please use disposable serving trays. These snacks will be served at the prom.

Graduation, June 21st: 8:00-9:00am, drop off sweet trays in the school lobby. These are served at the reception following the graduation ceremony. Please use disposable serving trays.

Arts & Crafts fundraiser for Austism

The Community Autism Centre Inc. is holding its first annual Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, June 2nd at the Fairvale Outing Association (8 River Road, Rothesay) from 10:00am-3:00pm.

There will be crocheting, knitting, handmade toys, kids accessories, paintings, prints, photographs, cupcakes, jewelry, jams, pickles, candles, woodwork, quilted items, sewn items, doll clothes, and more! The event is indoors, so it will go rain or shine.

Admission for the public the day of the event will be $1, children 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult. All money raised from table fees, admission and raffle will go to the Saint John Community Autism Centre Inc. 409

Lions’ Dinner and lunch

The Sussex Lions Club will be holding their monthly Public Lunch on Wednesday, June 13th from 11:00am-1:30pm at the 58 Willow Court.

Cost for the lunch is $8 (tax & tip included) and the menu includes green salad, lasagna, rolls, chocolate dessert and beverage. All are welcome.

Help Needed!

2014 marks the 100 anniversary of the outbreak of World War I. New Brunswickers were drawn into that enormous global conflict. Many men and women (nurses) from the farms, villages, mills, towns and fishing villages of New Brunswick joined up and served in the Canadian War effort. These individuals wrote letters home and kept diaries of their extraordinary experiences.

I ask for your help in preserving those memorable letters and diaries. I am hoping to gather these documents for a book I am researching. Letters and diaries would be borrowed for research and then returned to their owners. Relay for Life 2012

Come join in all the fun at this year’s Relay for Life being held on June 9th at Hampton High School; with different activities every hour, there is something for the whole family!

Kids activities, Zumba, scavenger hunt, karaoke starting at 12:00am with Natasha Barton, who is also our DJ, special laps at 2:30 & 5:00am and much more! Opening ceremony begins at 6:45pm followed by live entertainment which includes Chris Daigle, Before the Mast, Alan Brown and Brad Trecartin.

The luminary ceremony will take place at 10:00pm. If you have not purchased your luminaries you can do so at the event. It is never too late to put a team together! We have been working hard to make sure it is going to be a fun event with lots to keep you walking and having fun all night long!

Reminder: Hampton ladies triathlon

A Ladies Only Sprint Triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 10th in Hampton. This unique event – the only one in Atlantic Canada – will comprise of a 500m swim, 20km cycle and a 5km run. In addition to the individual competition there will also be a Team Event comprising of two or three competitors and a Junior Wave for competitors ages 16-19 years (in an attempt to build a team for the Canada Games 2013).

Hampton High School is accepting donations of gently used prom dresses for the “Prom Dress Project”. Any student in District 6, who would like to purchase a dress, can make an appointment with Krista Hovey (832-6179) at Hampton High School.

Hampton Concert Group 1979–2009

Hampton was blessed for 30 years to have so many talented individuals and groups perform locally. In 1979, a few Hamptonians envisioned a group that would bring performers from across Canada to our little town three or four times a year. As a result Hampton Concert Group was formed, and it successfully held 101 concerts over those years.

From classical to folk, percussion to strings, one man shows to magicians, the group sought out first class entertainment for Friday night events held primarily at the Leah MacGowan Theatre, Hampton Middle School. The first concert in 1979 was an evening of music by the Brunswick String Quartet in the library at Hampton Elementary School, and our final concert in November 2009 featured Teresa Doyle of PEI. There were so many acts in between.

Hampton Concert Group has been inactive for the past two years, and recently the committee decided to remain so; however, we wish to thank our many faithful supporters: first and foremost our audience for their undying support, the staffs of Hampton Elementary and Hampton Junior/Middle School, St. Alphonsus and Hampton United Church, Holly’s Restaurant for offering discounts during performance evenings, Java Moose for providing coffee during intermissions, and the Hampton Herald for publishing articles.

Over the years, many people contributed to the success of this organization. Sincere thanks to the original group, Don and Pauline Laidlaw, Heather and Doug Crowley, John and Pip Murphy, Bill and Carole Wallace, Elspeth and Ray Bradbury, Don and Myrna Richards, Don Forsythe, Nancy and Gareth Estey, Neil and Anne Scott, and Cheryl Bezanson, who started it all in the winter of 1978-79.

Times change – we will miss this source of entertainment – but we will fondly remember all of the fine performances that came to Hampton.

St. Andrew’s Anniversary Events

If you did not meet the April 30th deadline for completing your 2011 income tax return, or missed completing it in previous years, you may be missing out on available government funds or tax credits such as the GST tax credit or the Universal Child Tax Benefit. Some benefits can be claimed retroactively upon submission of your returns.

Following a successful two seasons of operation of the volunteer Income Tax Clinic at St. Paul’s Church in Rothesay (98 returns completed in 2011 and 174 in 2012), the operator of this clinic is offering to continue to do returns on computer, by appointment, up until the end of September. After that date it is not possible to e-file 2011 returns (older returns have to be printed and mailed).

You qualify to take advantage of this free service if your 2011 income was less than $30,000 for individuals or $35,000 for couples. Please note that the Canada Volunteer Income Tax Program does not complete returns involving capital gains, business or rental income, or bankrupt or deceased persons.

Returns as far back as 2006 can be submitted for completion. All papers relating to your returns must be supplied.

Why I relay

Hi, my name is Trish Hilchey from the Quispamsis Canadian Tire team. I’ve been a part of the Hampton Relay For Life for the past six years. At that time a co-worker was going through her battle with cancer and I responded to an ad to join the Hampton Relay For Life as I thought it would be a great way to show her that we cared. Since then it has become part of my life to raise money to help this awesome cause to find cures for the many diseases of cancer. My team and I are excited with the amount of funds that we raise every year because we know that no amount is too small to help.

My most favorite part of the Relay is the Luminary Ceremony.

This is when you take time to remember the lives of the ones who have lost their battle, celebrate the lives of the ones still fighting and honor those who have won. The most moving part is lighting the luminaries knowing that each one represents a loved one touched by cancer. It’s inspirational, having these luminaries stay lit throughout the night as they line the track providing light for the walkers.

You may ask who can relay and the answer would be - you.

My main reason for relaying now is for the love ones I have lost, the love ones still fighting and for the hope that my future grandchildren and great grandchildren will live in a world where “cancer” is a word not to be feared.

Don’t forget that the Hampton Relay For Life is on Saturday, June 9th from 7:00pm to 7:00am at the Hampton High School Soccer Field. Come and see what the Hampton Relay For Life is all about and join us as we fight back.

The Kings County Historical & Archival Society, Inc., is planning a bus tour of the Moncton area on Saturday, June 9th leaving Hampton at 8:45am, returning at 7:00pm. A pick-up in Sussex is also planned. We will tour the Thomas Williams House in Moncton, and the Lutes Mountain Museum, with a stop at the Magnetic Hill Village and Shops. Next we will visit the museum of Ivan and Vivian Hicks in Coverdale, with entertainment and a turkey dinner to follow.

Funds for Gabriel

Six-year old Gabriel Arseneault, from Upperton, is the youngest child in the Maritimes to be diagnosed with “Huntington Disease”. This condition is very rare in a child and is usually found in adults or juveniles. Huntington Disease remains incurable.

In support of his family (Mom is a single parent to Gabriel and his toddler twin brother and sister) there will be an Auction at the Central Kings Rec Centre in Titusville on Saturday, June 16th starting at 7:00pm. Donations of items (new) for this event would be greatly appreciated.

On May 7, 2012 at a reception at the Vintage Bistro, the Rotary Club of Hampton was proud to honour our own past president, Paul Beals, with a Paul Harris Fellowship. Paul has been an active member of our club for many years and was our club president in 2009-2010. Health issues have prevented Paul from attending meetings for the past few months and we do miss his contributions to our meetings and the fellowship we enjoy. All the members of our local club wish him the very best.

The Rotary Club of Hampton has also recently received word that for about five months we will be hosting not one, but two Rotary International Exchange students. Maddy Healey will continue her Canadian experience until early January. She will be lucky to join a number of other Rotary Youth Exchange students on the Cross-Canada Tour that will begin in Moncton in late June and take the group as far as Victoria, British Columbia.

Our second student will be Jorge Sebastian Maldonado Villacres is coming from Santo Domingo, Ecuador. He will arrive in late August/early September and remain until the early summer.

Among his hobbies and interests are playing music, travel, Tai Kwon Do and going to the gym. SRHS news

Sussex Regional High School had been deemed by the Department of Education a Demonstration School: A Project on Enhancing Student Learning through Technology. We will share with the Dept of Education the results of this year’s research and data collection.

Spring has been busy in the classrooms of Sussex Regional High School: Mr. Swift’s Biology 121 CSI Lab reports: Earlier this semester the Biology 121 class participated in a CSI Lab. The premise of the investigation was the skeletal remains of a body were found near the school. The students were divided into teams of two.

The conclusion of the lab required the CSI teams to use their creative writing skills to develop a story of what they felt were the circumstances that led to the murder.

In the Skills New Brunswick competition, Grade 12 student, Glen Snow came first and won the gold medal for cabinet making and earned him a flight to Edmonton where he competed on the national level and earned 6th place. Congratulations to Glen.

In Mrs. Stacey Stairs’ SRHS Playschool will graduate 15 children from their program. The ceremony takes place on Thursday, May 31st at 10:30am in the theatre followed by a small reception in the classroom.

In April, Ms. McEacheron’s Human Services class held a services class and did a bake sale for the Sussex Transition House, raising just over $300. Amy Reid did a grocery bagging fundraiser with them on Mother’s Day that raised over $200.

Thomas Linton of Sussex, NB, husband of Patricia (Williams) Linton, passed away May 14, 2012 at the Sussex Health Centre.

He was born in Saint John, son of the late Joseph and Lena (White) Linton.

Tom was a resident of the Kingston Peninsula the greater part of his life where he was engaged in farming and construction.

He was a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church and Trinity Church, Sussex. He is survived by one sister, Barbara Craig (Calvin), Bonney River, NB; two nieces Jennifer Craig, Halifax, Leslie Roy (Ron), Sudbury, ON; and one nephew, Jonathan Craig, Moncton.

The funeral was held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Reid’s Funeral Home with The Ven. David Barrett officiating. Active Pallbearers were Bill Thompson, Will Thompson, Malcolm White, Keith White, Calvin Craig and Jonathan Craig. Honourary Pallbearers were Robert Miller, Harvey and Pauline Goddard, Pat and Ann Myers. Committal prayers and interment took place at Hardings Point Loyalist Cemetery. Brock Reid Benefits of funeral pre-arrangement The benefits of funeral pre-planning range from logistical to emotional to financial.

Logistically, a significant amount of personal data and coordination is required in funeral planning. Will loved ones know the maiden name of the deceased’s mother, or the parents’ places of birth? Will they know the dates and locations related to education or military service? What about locations and amounts of life insurance policies? Pre-planning ensures personal data is organized and documented, negating the need for loved ones to track information down following a loved one’s death.

Emotionally, pre-arranging a funeral removes the burden of decision-making from grieving loved ones. Should it be a traditional funeral followed by burial or cremation? Who will be pallbearers? To whom should memorial donations be designated? Which casket is preferred? What hymns will be sung? Pre-planning gives loved ones the gift of certainty that the deceased’s final wishes are fulfilled.

Financially, if you choose to pre-pay as well as pre-plan your funeral, you lock in funeral costs at today’s prices, even though these funds may not be accessed for years or decades to come. With costs rising the financial benefit of pre-planning and pre-paying can be quite significant.

Hampton Senior’s Resource Centre News

Spring seems to be here most days but then other days makes us wonder.

Mondays - 9:30am to 1:00pm the “Monday Morning Craft Group” gathers at the Centre to quilt or learn to quilt, crochet, knit or rug hook. They serve a lunch and would welcome you to join them, and help with one of their crafts, or learn to do one; At 1:00pm the Swedish Weavers are at the Centre doing some beautiful work and you can join them and help or learn to do this very attractive work.

The Hampton Hoedowners have finished for the summer. They will be back at the Centre on September 10th and are always looking for new dancers. A lunch is served, so meet your friends and make new friends.

Tuesdays - 7:00pm, Bridge players are there and if you are interested in playing call Barry Kilpatrick at 832-5701.

Wednesdays - 1:30pm Senior’s Fitness Classes, with certified instructors (sponsored by the Hampton River Runners) all seniors welcome - no admission charge; at 7:00pm the “Auction 45” players are there and you are welcome to join them.

Thursdays - 9:30am, the craft shop down in back is open, bring your own craft or help with one there; at 10:00am musicians gather to sing, and play some enjoyable music until 12:00noon, when a home cooked dinner is served. The price is $4/members, $5/nonmembers and the membership dues are only $10 again this year.

The first dinner of the month is Pot Luck, and if you bring your favorite dish that is your admission. At 7:00pm musicians gather until 10:00 for an “Open Mike” show where you will again hear some great songs and singers, come and listen - admission is $2.

12th Town Wide Yard Sale

Hampton’s Town Wide Yard Sale will take place on Saturday, August 11th and as it has been a great success in past years we are hoping for another great response! This year, the event is being organized and sponsored by Lifestyles Fitness with any money raised going directly to support the Hampton Pro Kids initiative.

We encourage you to get registered early! The registration deadline is Monday, July 23rd and registrations can be made at Lifestyles Fitness (361 William Bell Drive, across from Chapman’s Ice Cream) Monday to Friday from 8:30am-1:00pm; Monday to Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00pm or Saturdays from 9:00am-12:00noon. Canada Day on the Belleisle

Mark your calendar to celebrate Canada Day – on the Belleisle at Hatfield Point – for this year, a day early, on Saturday, June 30th. The day will begin with breakfast & yard sale (sponsored by the Outreach Pentecostal Church youth group) and the annual parade. Other events for the day include: children’s games, art, quilt & fancywork displays, carpentry competition, cake auction and musical entertainment. In honour of the Queen’s Jubilee Year a “Royal Tea with a “Queen” will also take place and you won’t want to miss the 2nd annual “Lawn Mower Races”.

A day of celebration always includes a ‘cake cutting’ ceremony and hotdogs/hamburgers will be available for those who need a snack or a cup of hot coffee and a donut in support of MAD@ poverty. The evening will begin with the popular cemetery stories and the finale of the day will be the fireworks from the wharf.

Job fest grand prize winner

School Districts 6, 8 and 10 are proud to announce the winner of the April 2nd Job Fest Grand Prize.

Amy Reid, a student at Sussex Regional High School, was the lucky recipient of an IPad. This prize was made available through the generosity and support of Job Fest partner, Innovatia.

Job Fest is a virtual fair, held annually, which allows students to learn about direct to work and post secondary education opportunities. The event is a joint venture between the districts and Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour. This year Job Fest saw over 2500 grade 11 students from across the southern region participate by visiting an interactive virtual exhibition hall. In addition many students were involved in live mock interviews. Job Fest is one more way for the districts to help prepare our young adults for a bright future in the world of work. 839

Generic Drug Notice On June 1st, New Brunswickers will see generic prescription drug prices drop to 40% of the equivalent brand name drug and then to 35% on December 1st.

These changes will decrease the revenue to pharmacies but lower drug prices are something that pharmacists fully support. People on public drug plans or private drug plans and those who have to pay directly for medicines deserve lower drug costs.

And our health care system needs to find savings.

The provincial government estimates that it will save $16 million a year as a result of these changes. The problem is that the government will be reinvesting less than 30% of these savings into pharmacy services. Other provinces that have brought in generic drug price reform have reinvested about 50% of their anticipated savings.

We are very concerned about what this will mean for our patients.

Pharmacies are an integral part of the health care system, particularly in smaller communities like Hampton, because access to health care services is limited.

The provincial government should be working with pharmacists to help address the growing health care needs in a cost-effective manner. Instead, it chose to impose a new funding formula on pharmacies. It is disappointing that the government chose to do so, particularly since it negotiates with all other health care professionals – most recently the dentists.

MULCH TIME AGAIN

Mulch sales abound at this time of year and along with them the hints from most garden centers and landscape bods that the product will render your garden instantly weed free and practically work free. Be not fooled!

Quite frankly, working in my garden gives me great joy and a freshly weeded bed provides a lot more satisfaction than a newly scrubbed kitchen floor ever could! Certainly the mulch has a killing effect when laid at about a three inch depth however it’s prudent to bear in mind that what can kill the undesirables can also wipe out the treasures. If your lifestyle dictates the use of mulch, care needs to be taken with the application; a space of at least six inches around the plant or bush, should be left where compost mixed with some well rotted manure can be applied, this insures that there’s enough nourishment for the plant to survive since the mulch will take a lot of nutrients from the soil as it decomposes. Mulch should always be applied after a soaking rain in order to trap the moisture in the soil. I use heavy mulch on pathways and actually recycle the large plastic bags on the surface covered with layers of newspapers and topped of with the mulch. Sadly this method is not suitable elsewhere in the garden. With advancing years the plastic bagged type is infinitely more manageable than the great truck loads that I have used in the past By not using mulch on the flower beds there is better opportunity for plants to expand and a greater likelihood of those wonderful volunteer plants, blown in by the wind or dropped from the heavens by passing aviators; they are always great fun and often provide treasures that could wreck the budget at the local nurseries.

This is a great time of year to clean out ponds and care needs to be taken to preserve the wild life in them; a collection of water snails is a valuable asset to keeping things ship shape, so it’s best to lift the leaves with a small plastic rake and sit them down on the surround of the pond, giving suitable time for the livestock to return. Every pond gets overgrown with time and the plant life needs to be reduced to a point where at least 1/3 of the pond is open water. I have just completed that task in a very small pond and was rewarded with the sight of a pair of mallard ducks taking stock of the accommodations!

So much good stuff in life is free and it seems to me that the major benefits of hands on gardening are the pure joy of hearing the birds sing and watching plant life come into bloom. Celebrate the good stuff! 805

“Have a Heart” fundraiser

It’s time to come together again and help someone in need!

Oceans of Ink and the small business’ of Sussex are hosting their 4th annual fundraising event - “Have a Heart” on Saturday, June 2nd starting at 10:00am, and this year the funds are being raised to save the life of young Nathan Beaudoin. Nate’s family needs our help! So this year our fundraiser is for them! As before, we will be offering ribbon tattoos for $40, but this year we will also be offering small heart tattoos, especially for Nate, with 100% of the proceeds going to Nate and his family.

Nathan, who has just turned one, has a rare and complex congenital heart condition called Right Atrial Isonmerism/ Heterotaxy. Nate’s only hope of survival is a complex heart surgery that is only offered in Boston. The estimated cost for the surgery is approximately $300,000, which does not include accommodations or travel expenses.

But tattoos aren’t the only way we’ll be raising funds. There will be food (walking tacos), live music, art, 50-50 draw, raffles, silent auction, and that’s just at Oceans of Ink! There is a growing list of small business’ in Sussex that are also volunteering to participate in the day. Our fundraisers in past years have been a huge success, and we’re all really looking forward to it this year!

40 YEARS LATER

As odd it seems to me, it has been 40 years since my high school graduation. It does not seem possible, but a simple subtraction confirms the truth of it: 2012-1972 = 40 years! Yikes.

What was happening way back then? Pierre Elliot Trudeau was prime minister, Richard Nixon was the president of the United States (Watergate was a couple of years down the road), and Richard Hatfield was premier of New Brunswick (and so was the Bricklin). A new house cost in the $25,000 - $30,000 range. Gas was 36 cents a gallon (which would be approximately 8 cents per liter except we weren’t using the metric system then). New Brunswick officially became Canada’s only bilingual province - and removed “The Picture Province” from our license plates. The number one movie of the year was The Godfather, the number one song was Don McLean’s American Pie and All in the Family was the number one TV show (yes, we did have television then). M.A.S.H. premiered in 1972. For sports fans, that was year Paul Henderson scored the “goal of the century” in the Canada vs Soviet Union hockey Summit series. It was also the year 11 Israeli athletes were killed in the Munich Summer Olympics terrorist attack.

In the midst of all that, a grand total of 38 Grade 12 students at Hampton High School approached graduation. Amazingly when we sat down to plan a 40th reunion, with one or two exceptions we know where all 38 are today or can find out fairly easily. One of the benefits of a small community. So we will get together for an evening to catch up a little and brag about our grandkids and maybe rekindle some of that youthful energy and anticipation of what life had in store for us as we looked ahead at age 18.
