ETIQUETTE HOCKEY
While we score goals on the ice, our goal off the ice is to make sure all of #GensNation has the best game experience possible! We’ve made a list of some important reminders for all fans to keep in mind so that everyone’s night out is a special one.
1. WAIT FOR THE WHISTLE TO ENTER AND EXIT SEATING AREA
A lot can happen in a split second of hockey action – and we don’t want anyone to miss anything. Fans who move from their seat during play can block the view of an entire section of fans. Please wait until a whistle blows to make any move to and from your seats.
QUICK TIP - There will always be extended stoppages following the first whistle after the 14:00 & 6:00 minute marks of a period (unless there is an icing, goal, or the start of a power play – just listen for the buzzer!)
2. BE MINDFUL OF THOSE AROUND YOU
Trust us, we know the games will have you at the edge of your seat, but if you lean too far forward, you’ll block the view of those around you. There isn’t a bad seat in the building, so sit back and enjoy the game!
3. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PUCK
Things move quickly at our games, including flying sticks and pucks. Keep your eye on the puck at all times to avoid any potential injuries!
4. NON-SMOKING FACILITY
The Tribute Communities Centre is a non-smoking, no re-entry facility. Smoking of any kind, including e-cigarettes, on TCC property, is prohibited.
5. HOCKEY IS FOR EVERYONE
We don’t expect everyone to be best friends with the Petes’ fans – some things just don’t mix. But, we do think it’s pretty cool they’re coming to our building to enjoy the same great game we love. Please be aware of those sitting around you, including children and let the play on the ice do the talking. Abusive and inappropriate language will NOT be tolerated.
6. HAVE FUN
Get loud, cheer, and let your favourite team on the ice know you’re behind them – Afterall, hockey is the best sport out there.

EASTERN CONFERENCE
BRAMPTON STEELHEADS
The Brampton Steelheads are getting read for their first-round matchup against the Oshawa Generals in the 4 vs 5 matchup. Brampton has been one of the better teams of late around the Eastern Conference going 7-2-1-0 in their last 10 games. Entering the playoffs the Steelheads have had no trouble scoring leading the conference in goals for, which will be important as the Generals lead the conference with the least goals allowed.
BARRIE COLTS
The Barrie Colts have locked up the Central Division and the second spot in the Eastern Conference. With their first-round matchup not yet finalized hey look to close out the season without any injuries. The Colts have been near the top of the Eastern Conference all season, after an early season push from the IceDogs, Barrie has show they are the best of the Central despite a couple rough stretches.

LONDON KNIGHTS
SARNIA STING
The Sarnia Sting are currently on the outside looking in, with one game to go they sit tied for the last spot in the Western Conference. It has not been an easy season for the Sting as they have had a tough time picking up wins away from home. Down the stretch they have not made it easy on themselves going 3-5-2-0 in their last 10 games. It is shaping up to be a photo finish in the Western Conference for the last spot, and all Sarnia can do is worry about winning their game.
The London Knights will finish the season as the best team in the Ontario Hockey League for the second season in a row. From the start of the season to the end they have been firing like they have been on a mission to show that last year was not a one off. The Knights have shown that all around they are the best team leading in both goals for a and against while also being a force on both sides of the special teams.

GENS REWIND:
A GLIMPSE OF THE PAST
WRITTEN BY: CARTER SMITH
Just about a year ago the Oshawa Generals made a push that saw them leapfrog most of the Eastern Conference on their way to an Eastern Conference Championship.
After a troubling first half to the 2023-24 season the Generals found themselves fighting for a playoff spot late into December. But a couple additions would completely flip that.
Gens general manager Roger Hunt made a couple key trades that brought a whole new identity to a team that looked like it had an untapped potential, bringing in a pair of over agers in Connor Lockhart and Connor Punnett.
Both guys came in and were not afraid to be themselves brining a swagger and edge to the Oshawa Generals that was not there in the first half of the season.
It took a little bit of time for the additions to settle in to the team and their new surroundings, but after a .500 month of February the Generals would get red hot rattling off 12 straight wins, failing to drop a game in the month of March.
“When I look back and really think about it our turn of play started in the overtime win against Erie,” said Roger Hunt. “Getting Lockhart back after a tough loss to the IceDogs was a big boost to the locker room.”
But it was not just the wins that help teams get on track.
“Just before we went on our run there was a bad loss to the Ottawa 67’s,” added the Gens GM. “I think that one really opened our teams’ eyes.”
That it did! It was all up from there not losing another game the entire regular season, locking down the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
It was not an easy journey to that 12-win streak beating the eventual league champs the London Knights on the road, while squeaking out a couple narrow overtime wins against the Kitchener Rangers and the Mississauga Steelheads.
Now that would be nice for this year’s team, but what the Gens really need is to continue their strong play and keep building for the playoffs as they look to build on last years deep run.

PREVIEW GAME DAY

The Oshawa Generals close out their OHL regular season on home ice as they take on their biggest rivals the Peterborough Petes.
It has not been the end to the season that the Generals would have wanted if they could do it again but they have show flashes of what they could be in games against teams near the top of the standings. As the season wraps up it will be the last time over agers Luca D’Amato, Luke Torrance and Jacob Oster will hit the ice for regular season games.
On the other side of the ice the Peterborough Petes are playing their last hockey game of the year failing to make the playoffs for the second straight year. The Petes have shown signs of where they are headed and what they could be down the road.
It has been a little while since these two last faced off and it was the Generals falling 3-2 in a shootout.
After falling behind it was Torrance striking in the first and Zackary Sandhu scored in the second to give the Generals a lead.
But it was all for not as the Petes tied it in the third before they sent the Peterborough fans home taking them down in a shootout.
RECAP LAST GAME
FRIDAY, MARCH 21ST
WRITTEN BY: ALEX CHAMPAGNE
The Oshawa Generals hit the road for their final away game of the 2024-25 regular season, facing off against the Sudbury Wolves. Coming off a tough 5-1 loss to the North Bay Battalion on Thursday, the Generals had already secured the No. 4 playoff seed and a first-round matchup against the No. 5 Brampton Steelheads. Meanwhile, Sudbury was battling for positioning between the No. 6 and 7 seeds. Although Oshawa’s playoff spot was locked in, they were determined to build momentum heading into the postseason, and they did just that, closing out their road schedule with a 4-1 victory.
The first period saw Oshawa’s Zackary Sandhu open the scoring, netting his ninth of the season just two and a half minutes into the game. Sandhu fired a shot past Wolves goaltender Finn Marshall, with assists from Owen Griffin and Lauri Sinivuori. Then, five minutes later, Flyers prospect Noah Powell extended the lead with a power-play goal, also his ninth of the season. Powell capitalized on a feed from Islanders prospect Calum Ritchie and Blue Jackets prospect Luca Marrelli, giving the Generals a 2-0 lead heading into the second period.
The second period began with a bang as Luca Marrelli scored less than a minute in, netting his 19th goal of the season and second point of the night. He was assisted by Colby Barlow (WPG) and Noah Powell, giving the Generals a 3-0 lead. Sudbury answered four minutes later as Rowan Henderson slipped one past Generals goaltender Jacob Oster for his 11th goal of the season, narrowing the gap to 3-1 as the teams headed into the final frame.
The final period saw no goals for most of the frame, but plenty of power plays and penalty kills for both teams. However with just 1:42 remaining, Oshawa’s Lauri Sinivuori scored a shorthanded goal, his 16th of the season, sealing a 4-1 victory for the Generals.
The Generals close out the regular season at home this Sunday evening with a showdown against their biggest rivals, the Peterborough Petes.

FROM PLAYER TO COACH:
BRAD MALONE’S JOURNEY TO LEADING THE OSHAWA GENERALS
WRITTEN BY: TOMAS MORGAN
The Oshawa Generals have hired Brad Malone as the interim head coach, a quick turnaround from his playing career to his coaching one.
He played over 750 professional hockey games between the NHL and AHL with Colorado, Carolina, Chicago and Edmonton’s organization before retiring in the spring of 2024. Malone was known for his big body, two-way game and liked to insert himself physically on every shift.
This play made him a leader in the locker room and earned him the captaincy in Bakersfield, for the last four seasons of his playing career.
“Communication is crucial,” said Malone. “A clear message on expectations of what is needed by everyone on the ice. The details that are part of the game need to be communicated on a daily basis.”
This is a key trait that Brad brought to the Generals organization when he was hired as a player development coach before the season started.
It did not take long to make his imprint on the organization as a leader. One on one interviews with players are a massive part of building their character, ensuring a strong team foundation.
Once November rolled around, Brad was promoted to assistant coach where his role changed. He was able to use his playing experience to help players make adjustments on the fly.
“The ability to make suggestions and corrections in game. Everything happens so fast at ice level,” added the interim bench boss. “Being able to immediately give the individuals feedback was a major difference.”
On December 9th, Brad Malone was named the Interim Head Coach after the organization let Steve O’Rourke go.
Now that Brad is the Head Coach, he sends a clear message to the team.
“Everyone has a seat at the table and [everyone] will be held to the same standard,” explained the newly appointed coach. “Nobody is above the team. Protect the house and work for each other.”
Canadian Tire, Rodman’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Desjardins Insurance, Planet Fitness, Dodd and Soutor, Pizza Pizza, Bluebird Self Storage, Staffing Connections, Professional Dry Cleaners, Gen7 Fuel and Color Compass Corporation have teamed up for the Adopt-A-School program!
