THE PROBLEM

? 3.22 crore children out of school in India (NSSO, 2018)

27% of Indian girls married before the age of 18 (UNICEF, 2017)

Nearly 40% adolescent girls in India lack access to education (NCPCR, 2018)

Struggles of Indian children, especially girls largely undocumented due to outdated and unreliable data tracking (Scroll, 2020)

“The football programme has really helped me develop my confidence and leadership skills. I did not know that sports like football could help build these crucial life skills. Keen to share the valuable knowledge I had picked up as a beneficiary of the football programme, I soon became an OSCAR Young Leader and made it my mission to enroll girls for football and life skills sessions from my predominantly conservative community.” • Netravati (20) is from our Badhwar Park community in Mumbai & is a Young Leader Alumni. She works with us as a coach and recently earned her AIFF D license coaching accreditation.

CORE PROGRAMMES FOOTBALL PROGRAMME Based on ‘No School, No Football’, OSCAR provides football and life skills sessions to children from low income backgrounds as long as they attend school regularly. Life skills sessions include value education on topics like discipline, health & hygiene, leadership, communication, confidence.

EDUCATION PROGRAMME Basic and advanced computer courses are offered across various age groups through our Digital Learning Centres. Special courses accredited by the NIIT aim at making youth more employable. We also started a pilot project where 200 underserved children received tablets with adaptive learning softwares aimed at bridging the learning gap caused due to the pandemic.

YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAMME Youth from low income areas are provided with leadership training and provided opportunities to develop skills and pursue careers in sport. The programme also helps in increasing the scope, reach & sustainability of OSCAR Foundation. Young Leaders help create a network of beneficiaries and become role models for children from their communities.
