Beach Fishing Report – May
Rob Meneguz
Summary
Millpond weather sets the scene for a spectacular weekend of fishing! Father and Son Daniel and Crew spell double trouble for the Mulloway! Colzy picks up a few good species on the way back from Denham, Including a BIG Yellowfin Bream. Mystery species STILL not caught making it jackpot to a very juicy $280, Definitely worthwhile wetting a line in the next comp and trying to get a variety of fish.
Highlights
Spectacular weather for our May comp seen 14 anglers weigh in. There would have been close to double that, if a large majority of the club weren’t away fishing up north in Denham for their yearly trip. It would have been the calmest comp I have fished in I don’t know how long… It’s so tranquil when you get those nights when everything is so still and there are thousands of stars lighting up the sky, and you just stare at that glowstick waiting, hoping the rod will buckle whilst admiring the surroundings. There was quite a lot of marine life on display over the weekend. We seen dolphins come right in close, a pack of Seals jumping out of the water and putting on a great display for us. We even seen a Stingray patrolling the shallows of the weed looking for an easy meal.
Lucky Competitor Prize
Mark Purchas
Graeme Cole had a big weekend fishing out in the boat before deciding he would do some landbased fishing on the way back home from shark bay so he could enter a bag in. It secured him second place, with Ricko still securing top spot in the Vets.
Daniel Bell & Crew headed away for the weekend and both landed Mulloway with dad getting the bigger specimen of 13.24kg, Absolute Cracker!! Crew also got a Mulloway of 1.46kg and he pulled it in all by himself! What an absolute LEGEND! He also managed 7 species a bag better than most of the men’s. For all the blokes out there start fishing hard now! In another 13 years this young bloke will be fishing in the men’s making it very tough!! A shout out to Boe Bell who made her brother a cute poster for catching his Mulloway.

Mark Purchas fished well catching and releasing a Wobby Shark giving him the 20 weight points and securing third spot. Adam Broadhead weighed in a reasonable bag also with 5 species 4 of which were heaviest and narrowly missing third place only by 1 point. With only 4 comps to go for the year there isn’t much separating a few of the top spots. Winter is approaching so we might be in for
