Boat Fishing Report - April

Glen Weymouth

April Comp - Held on Saturday 22nd

The weather once again turned up for our comp day. 31 people signing on for the boat comp with 14 boats in total. Great turn out to see what a day out on the big blue would conjure up.

A couple boats headed out to the 90m drop off fishing for pink snapper and Samson fish.

Sean Neil landed a good pink snapper of 6.17kg from the depths, well rewarded fishing those sort of depths. Back in closer Belinda Mallon was getting stretched with a nice sambo.

Belinda also picked up a thumper trevally of 828 grams. We have had some really nice king george weigh in lately and Jamie Hannds fishing his first boat comp took out the largest with a kidney slapper at 892grams. Plenty of pink snapper coming off the 3 mile strip with the aid of chummed up pillies and fishing light bait or plastics. Joe and Phil having no issues finding decent size snook in the weed beds, both weighing in solid fish.

Our weigh in started with two mini juniors, both brothers Kye and Devon Whitt hitting it out.

Devon weighed in 1 species with 10.9 points. Brother Kye getting the win with 3 species and 49.5 points. We only had one Junior weigh in, the last of the Whitt clan, Harley. Harley having a very respectful bag of 3 species and 50.2 points. Well done Whit boys and good on dad Lance for getting the grommets out on the boat.

Our Veterans had some decent fish come over the scales. Colesly running in third with 4 species and

Two Day Boat Comp 6th & 7th of May 2023Cancelled due to SWW.

June 3rd - 4th being the carry over day.

61.1points. Welcome back for Phil Pollard running in second with 5 species and 70 points. In first for the vets was Terry with 9 species and 167.7 points. Well done vets. Be good to see someone give Terry a run. Maybe we have to get the One Armed Bandit off the couch?

The ladies competition this year so far has been very interesting and is coming down the wire. Gemma Baynes in third had 3 species with 38.1 points. Sam Broadhurst in second with 5 species and 86 points. In first position with a great bag was Belinda Mallon, 7 species and 127.3 points. Mint work ladies, you girls are going great.

The Mens was a close one between the top 4 spots with heaviest specie points dividing the cream. In third was Franga who had 7 species and 107.4 points. Second was myself with 8 species and 115.6 points. In first once again was Joe W, 8 species and 128.9 points. Congratulations Joe, solid bag of fish.

Our next boat comp would have been our two day boat comp at the start of May. This comp has been canceled due to SWW for both days. The next comp for me to report on will be our June comp.

Boat Captain Buckets signing out. You wont catch em sitting on the couch.
