The Orpheum Theatre - Memphis

Season sponsored by:

December 8-13, 2015

Thanks for the memories... On the 1st of January I will be retiring after 35 exciting years as President & CEO of this fabulous organization. But - I won’t be going far as I am just moving 30 giant steps over to the new Halloran Centre where I will be helping develop a wide variety of new programs to offer the entire community. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for making these years the most rewarding period in my life. This production of Newsies caps off a total of 310 Broadway shows and 2,700 total performances since 1980. This does not include the hundreds of memorable concerts and special events. Together we saved the Orpheum from the wrecking ball and we totally restored it in 1983; then we expanded the stage in 1996 and refreshed the interior again in 1997. Thanks to you and others we have made over $24 million in improvements to our beautiful theatre. Now we can add the biggest project we have undertaken to the list- the new Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education. The Centre took the commitment and generosity of a community that met the challenge of raising the $14.5 million needed to complete this important building. I am thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of all that we have achieved: you, me, and many other generous supporters who through the years have consistently believed in our mission and vision. Because of your generosity, the Orpheum has become a valued jewel in the crown of our community. So, again, thanks for the memories, and here’s hoping that there will be many more opportunities ahead for us to reach even higher plateaus and accomplish even greater things in the future.
