PEOPLE
Ibrahim Nahid General Manager at Villa Nautica
Ibrahim Nahid’s journey through the world of Maldivian hospitality reads like a story of dedication, curiosity, and heartfelt connection. Starting his career 30 years ago at Paradise Island, he quickly realised that behind every guest’s smile lies a story waiting to be honoured. His years working across the Maldives and beyond have taught him that great leadership isn’t just about managing operations, it’s about nurturing people and crafting genuine moments of joy.
Nahid’s leadership has been pivotal in reshaping Villa Nautica, integrating the island’s timeless traditions with progressive hospitality approaches to delight global explorers. Today, as General Manager of Villa Nautica, Nahid blends this deep sense of purpose with a bold vision for the future. He sees the resort as a living tapestry of culture, nature, and human warmth. Having guided the resort through a significant transformation, he brings together international standards with the warmth of Maldivian hospitality. In this interview, Nahid shares insights into his leadership journey, the transformation of Paradise island Resort & Spa to Villa Nautica, and his outlook on the future of Maldivian hospitality.
Could you share your career journey, what keeps you motivated, and how your leadership style has evolved since taking on your current role?
I have been in the industry for over 30 years, this year marks my 30th anniversary. I was fortunate to begin my career at Paradise Island and have since gained experience working with various prestigious brands across the Maldives. Additionally, I have had the privilege of immersing myself in different cultures in several other countries, which has broadened my understanding of the importance of curating and delivering tailor-made experiences for our guests.
What motivates me the most is that this industry is unlike any other. It offers the chance to work in some of the world’s most exceptional environments and to share meaningful stories with guests who come from diverse corners of the globe. Above all, what drives me is my team. We have an incredible, dedicated group of people who consistently go above and beyond their duties to meet our guests’ needs and deliver the exceptional experiences we promise.
My leadership style is deeply hands-on. I believe in working closely with my team, integrating myself
into their workflows, observing, appreciating, and recognising their efforts. This approach also allows me to identify potential challenges early on, before they become real issues, ensuring that we maintain the highest standards of service.
Villa Nautica, as part of the well-established Villa Resorts portfolio, relies on strong local leadership to build on its solid foundation and stand out on the global stage. How do you achieve this balance?
The warmth and genuine Maldivian hospitality that we are known for is infused into every interaction we have with our guests. This heartfelt approach gives Villa Nautica its unique personality and charm. At the same time, we rigorously benchmark ourselves against the international best practices and highest standards. This balance, being locally rooted at heart while delivering at a globally competitive level is what sets us apart.
Looking ahead, our vision is to expand Villa Resorts’ reputation as a premier, all-island brand that defines island luxury hospitality through innovation, authenticity, and a deep respect for our cultural and natural heritage.
What are the signature experiences and key offerings at Villa Nautica that set it apart from other resorts in the Maldives?
One of the biggest advantages we have is our proximity to the international airport, just 18 minutes away. We have brought comprehensive changes to our accommodation and interiors during the process of transformation and rebranding. We have also conceptualized our culinary offerings and elevated those experiences. The Araamu Spa is nestled in the tropical, lush green vegetation of the island, offering Balinese, Indian Ayurvedic, medicinal treatments, Swedish and other international treatments, as well as local treatments unique to the Maldives.
We have 282 rooms in eight different categories, giving guests plenty of options to choose from. These range from exclusive overwater presidential suites to private beach retreats. For energetic and active guests, we offer possibly the highest number of activities found at any resort. Our motorized and non-motorized land and water-based activities include parasailing, jet blade, jet skis, sea bob, and a semi-submarine for younger guests and seniors to explore the underwater beauty of our reefs. On land, guests can enjoy indoor badminton, squash, basketball, volleyball, billiards, table tennis, and many other games.
Since the island is relatively small, guests might explore every area within a couple of days and risk getting bored. However, with so many activities available, they can keep themselves busy throughout their stay. Every evening, we offer entertainment ranging from cultural shows to in-house bands and various games. Our main bar features different programs nightly, ensuring all guests enjoy engaging activities and events throughout their visit, so they will never be bored and will remain entertained all throughout their stay.
Villa Nautica recently went through a rebranding. What inspired this change, and how does the new identity better reflect the resort’s brand and future direction?
The tourism industry itself keeps continuously evolving, and over such a long history, Paradise Island carries a legacy of value and a huge crowd of loyal guests. We wanted to bring more vibrancy, energy, and sophistication into our concept to meet the evolving needs of our guests. Villa Nautica embodies the spirit of the sea, movement, exploration, and elegance, which reflects the luxury lifestyle of our clients. Rebranding includes conceptualising our resort and creating our own unique identity.
We have brought drastic changes to our interiors and elevated our accommodations. Also, we have improved our culinary offerings and concept, taking important steps forward to deliver the highest standard of service in a much more personalised and unique manner to our guests.
Most importantly, this transformation with a new concept, new design, and new identity has been very well received by our guests, attracting a younger and multi-generational audience to our resort. Most of all, the rebranding has reenergised our team and given clarity to the direction we must head in order to deliver on our mission and promises to our guests.
How do you ensure that every team member, from front office to back-of-house, contributes to the overall guest experience?
Tourism today is very different from what it used to be. It’s no longer possible for just one individual in an organisation to deliver the full guest experience, it requires a collective effort. Every team member plays a vital role in creating that special, memorable experience for our guests. Some might overlook roles like the Green Team, but their work is crucial; a clean, comfortable environment is essential to guest satisfaction.
We have built a culture where everyone contributes with the shared goal of delivering the exceptional experience we promise our guests. That mindset is essential. As I have mentioned before, it is truly amazing to see the lengths our team is willing to go to take care of our guests. We make it a point to recognise and appreciate these efforts.
Every month, we hold an Employee of the Month ceremony to celebrate outstanding contributions, awarding certificates in recognition of their work. We also use a powerful tool called Kudos, a social platform that allows team members to appreciate one another, both privately and publicly. It fosters a culture of mutual respect and support across all departments. This collective spirit is what ultimately creates the exceptional experiences our guests enjoy.
With the tourism industry constantly evolving, how is Villa Nautica staying ahead, and what trends are shaping your future projects?
We initiated our transformation in 2022, and that journey is still ongoing. The tourism industry is constantly evolving, and we must evolve with it. The moment we stop adapting and improving, we
risk falling behind. That’s why we remain focused on refining our offerings, whether it’s our accommodations, guest experiences, or the culinary delights we provide on the island. It’s a continuous process, and one we are fully committed to. We cannot afford to pause and we won’t. Our growth will continue, in step with the everchanging needs and expectations of the industry and our guests.
How do you see the future of Maldivian hospitality evolving, and what key qualities will local leaders need to successfully shape that future?
The destination identity is extremely important, as I believe, because the environment we have is visible and being explored in many different areas. I strongly believe that our cultural identity and heritage, both cultural and environmental, need to be incorporated into our tourism sector.
Guests don’t come here just to sleep in a beautiful room. They want to experience and truly understand the destination they are visiting. So, it is crucial that our cultural values and heritage are infused and integrated into the Maldivian tourism industry.
I feel that the leadership who steps up to take care of this industry in the future must make it a priority to include these elements, this representation of the destination in their vision.
As long as we do that, the Maldives will continue to outshine other tourism destinations around the world. Future leaders who take responsibility for this industry must integrate our social, cultural, and historical values into the tourism sector because people coming to experience the Maldives need to know the destination well.
I believe all leaders, especially local leaders, need to step up and take care of the industry. If locals do not step up, and if we are not present to care for it, industry practices, offerings, and identity will continue to deviate from who we truly are. But as long as we integrate these values and honour our cultural heritage, we will continue to rise above other global tourist destinations like ours.
PEOPLE
Khadeeja Sana
Director of PR & Marketing at Villa Resorts
For Sana, the story of Villa Resorts is far more than a professional pursuit, it’s a personal legacy woven into her childhood, her identity, and her leadership approach. Her journey with the brand began long before her professional career, as a child immersed in the culture and community of the islands, surrounded by pioneers of Maldivian tourism. Those early impressions have fueled her drive to preserve Villa’s essence while elevating it for modern travellers.
Now, as Director of PR & Marketing, Sana channels that understanding into her work, shaping how the world experiences Villa Resorts. With a deep respect for culture and an eye for modern storytelling, she has helped lead the brand into a new era, most notably through the transformation of Paradise Island into Villa Nautica. In this exclusive interview, she reflects on her journey, her inspirations, and how she hopes to leave her own mark while carrying forward the values she grew up with.
You have grown up with Villa Resorts being such a big part of your life. What are your earliest memories of the brand, and how have they shaped the way you approach your role today?
Some of my favourite childhood memories are from Fridays at the resort. Fridays were always Maldivian Nights, where the whole island came alive with music, culture, and food. For us, it also meant Friday Biriyani at the staff canteen, a meal everyone looked forward to all week. I remember the sound of bodu beru drums echoing through the night, local bands playing under the stars, and golden sunsets that I’d watch with my sister from the jetty. Experiencing the duality of those providing and receiving service was deeply impactful. The salty breeze would drift through the coconut palms as the kitchens buzzed with energy, yet out front, everything felt calm and effortless for our guests.
Even as a child, I noticed how naturally our team welcomed people. They spoke half a dozen languages without hesitation and made visitors feel like old friends. It left me fascinated by what true hospitality looked like - not scripted, but sincere.
Later on, when I joined Villa Hotels’ marketing team in 2010, my uncle Ali Rasheed, or Alibe as we call him,
inspired me deeply. He is hardworking, innovative, and has this rare ability to tell stories that connect people. Watching him and the generation before us who pioneered Maldivian tourism taught me that building hospitality here was never just business. It was about imagination, resilience, and daring to think differently. Those lessons shaped how I see the brand today and the responsibility I feel to carry that spirit forward.
What’s one core value from the brand’s legacy that continues to guide you as you lead and evolve it today, and what does Villa Resorts, especially Villa Nautica personally mean to you in that journey?
I still remember being around eight when someone told me my father was building too many “Moodhu Kotari”, the water bungalows, and that no one would come to the Maldives to stay in them or fill them up. But my imagination went wild. In my mind’s eye, I could see those wooden villas stretching out across the lagoon, waves lapping underneath, and guests waking up completely surrounded by the ocean.
Years later, I watched those very bungalows rise from the sea, turning that vision into something real. Then, in 2004, much of it was washed away by the tsunami. What stayed with me was not just the devastation but
how everyone came together to rebuild stronger, larger, and even more beautiful than before. That spirit of resilience has stayed with me ever since.
I often think of my father during those years. He had this rare mix of daring vision and quiet stewardship. He was bold enough to dream big but deeply protective of our islands, so much so that he numbered each coconut palm during development to make sure as few trees as possible were cut down. That mindset of balancing progress with preservation still lives on across all our properties today.
Personally, that’s what Villa Nautica represents to me. It’s a symbol of resilience, vision, and care for our home. When I walk through the resort today and see how far it has come, how it has evolved from Paradise Island into something even more remarkable, I feel proud. It reminds me of the lessons my father taught us and of what’s possible when we stay rooted in those values while daring to push boundaries.
What was the vision behind rebranding from Villa Hotels & Resorts to Villa Resorts, including the evolution of Villa Nautica, and what story were you hoping to tell through this transformation?
The vision was simple yet deeply personal. We wanted to tell the Maldivian story to the world in a way that truly reflected who we are. Rebranding was never about changing names or logos. It was about honouring where we started while shaping what modern Maldivian hospitality could become.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside passionate, talented people and to have been guided by Piers Schmidt during this journey. Together, we focused on celebrating each island for its own beauty and character. These resorts are not just places of business. They are homes. They are where I grew up, where memories were made, and where generations of our team have poured their hearts into creating something special.
Seeing these islands, including the transformation of Paradise Island into Villa Nautica, has been one of my proudest experiences. It feels like we’ve been able to share the warmth and authenticity of our beginnings while creating something fresh and inspiring for the future. Through the rebrand, we were able to introduce these homes to the world in a way that honours our roots, with authenticity and heart.
How do you differentiate Villa Nautica from the other properties in the Villa Resorts portfolio, and what strategic importance does it hold within the group?
Villa Nautica has a distinct rhythm. Its closeness to Malé makes it incredibly accessible, but what makes it stand out is its energy; you feel it the moment you step off the boat. Mornings here are drenched in sunlight, with the scent of fresh coffee drifting from Press & Pot near the infinity pool. There’s a buzz of activity, yet plenty of quiet corners to slow down and breathe.
It’s a resort built on freedom of choice. Some guests spend their days unwinding at the spa, others are out diving, surfing, or learning a new water sport. Everything feels effortless, not overly curated, but always thoughtful.
Strategically, Villa Nautica allows us to explore a more expressive side of hospitality. It speaks to travellers looking for style, energy, and character while still feeling true to the Maldives. It shows how modern Maldivian hospitality can be confident, warm, and full of life. That makes it a cornerstone of our future growth.
How are you using digital storytelling, social media, or immersive campaigns to elevate Villa Nautica’s global presence?
Storytelling has always been a part of who we are. Each of our properties has its own personality, rhythm, and promise, and we try to bring that to life in the way we share our story with the world. With Villa Nautica, the approach is dynamic and intentional. The resort is not about spectacle. It is about balance. The nautical-inspired design, the curated experiences, and the quiet sophistication speak to travellers who want depth rather than distraction.
Through our digital channels, we try to set the tone before guests even arrive. Every piece of content is a way of helping them imagine their own journey here. We also focus on education. We want people to see the fragility of the Maldives, to understand its flora and fauna, and to experience what is not conventionally perceived as Maldivian life. It is more than just sun, sea, and sand.
Our campaigns highlight the details that are often overlooked, encouraging guests to connect with the real Maldives. In a market that can feel noisy, we do not try to be louder. We focus on being clearer and more authentic. That clarity builds trust and sets Villa Nautica apart, giving guests a sense of connection before they even step onto the island.
As you look ahead, how do you envision the next chapter of Villa Nautica evolving, and how do you hope to carry your legacy forward while also leaving your own distinct mark on the brand?
The future of Villa Nautica is not about becoming bigger or louder. It is about becoming more thoughtful, more personal, and more connected to who we truly are. I want every part of the experience, from the way we design our spaces to the way we welcome guests at dinner, to feel intentional and memorable.
We are exploring ways to create moments that surprise and stay with people long after they leave. I see Villa Nautica evolving in a way that reflects the spirit of the island even more closely, where every detail feels alive with meaning and purpose.
For me, the next chapter is about holding on to the Maldivian soul and those intangibles that have always set us apart. Our heritage, our warmth, and our relationship with nature are at the heart of what makes this place special. My role is to guide Villa Nautica into its next era with creativity and clarity while keeping those roots strong. That is how I hope to leave my mark, a refined and modern expression of Maldivian hospitality that feels timeless and genuine.
What kind of leadership style do you believe the future of hospitality needs, and how are you bringing that into the culture at Villa Resorts?
The future of hospitality will belong to leaders who are present, authentic and truly connected to the people around them. This
industry has always been about people. If we want to create experiences that feel meaningful to guests, we must first build cultures where our teams feel valued, supported, and inspired.
At Villa Resorts, we are shaping that culture through openness and collaboration. I believe leadership is not about hierarchy but about trust and creating an environment where every idea is heard. When people feel they can take ownership and express themselves, that is when real innovation happens.
Creativity is also at the heart of where we are heading. Hospitality is no longer just about offering comfort. Guests want to be surprised, inspired, and moved. To deliver that, our teams need the freedom to think differently, to take risks, and to bring bold ideas to life. Villa has always embraced that pioneering spirit, taking on challenges others might avoid, setting new milestones, and shaping the future of tourism in the Maldives.
I want to carry that spirit forward. I want every future hotelier who works with us to feel that no idea is too ambitious, no dream too bold. Because it is that spirit of imagination, and the courage to act on it, that will define the next chapter of hospitality, and it is exactly that mindset that we are nurturing at Villa Resorts.
How do you hope your presence in the industry inspires young Maldivian women or girls who may dream of a future in hospitality or creative leadership?
Every day, I think about the role model I want to be for my daughter. She has always been a driving force in my life to do better. When I ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, she tells me, “I want to be just like you.” That alone inspires me to set a standard worth looking up to.
But I did not get here alone. I learned by watching the incredible women who came before me and stand beside me today. We may come from different companies and backgrounds, but in many ways, our stories are the same. There is a nurturing strength that runs through Maldivian women in hospitality, a resilience that holds teams together, tells our country’s story with pride, and quietly shapes the future of this industry.
These women inspire me daily; they are the unsung heroes of Maldivian tourism. Leading with pride, strength and grace, they are among the strongest leaders I know. My hope is that young Maldivian girls can see themselves reflected in that legacy, that they know that they belong here. That they have the right to dream boldly, lead fearlessly, and carry our nation’s story forward for the world to see.
Mohamed Azmeel Cluster Director of Sales at Villa Resorts
With more than two decades of dedication to Villa Resorts, Mohamed Azmeel has grown into one of the most trusted names in Maldivian hospitality sales. Now serving as Director of Sales in a cluster role, his journey reflects a story of resilience, adaptability, and the power of building strong, lasting relationships. From the early days in operations to leading strategic transformations like the rebranding of Paradise Island to Villa Nautica, Azmeel has played a pivotal role in shaping the resort group’s evolution.
In this exclusive conversation, Azmeel opens up about what drives him, how the Maldives’ travel landscape is shifting, and why Villa Nautica is poised to capture the imagination of today’s global traveller. His insights reflect a career built on trust, teamwork, and a deep understanding of the island soul.
You have spent over two decades in the hospitality industry, with a significant part of that time at Villa Resorts. Can you share your career journey and how it has evolved over the years?
I joined Villa Resorts’ sales team in 2011 as Senior Sales & Marketing Manager, overseeing all global B2B markets. Over time, I progressed to Assistant Director of Sales and, since 2022, have been serving as Director of Sales in a cluster role across the group.
Before transitioning into Sales & Marketing, I worked across Guest Services, Reservations, and Operations. That operational grounding gave me a deep appreciation for the guest experience and continues to inform my commercial approach today. It helps ensure that our sales strategies are not only market-driven but also grounded in service realities.
What’s kept me committed to Villa Resorts is the opportunity to grow alongside the company. I have been trusted to lead with purpose, contribute to strategic evolution, and help shape the transformation of our brand, properties, and people. It’s been a journey of continuous learning and one that remains incredibly rewarding.
As Director of Sales, what’s your core philosophy when it comes to driving growth for a locally owned brand like Villa Resorts in a highly competitive market such as the Maldives?
My core philosophy is anchored in authenticity, adaptability, and relationship-led growth. As a proudly Maldivian brand, our deep-rooted understanding of the destination and culture allows us to deliver hospitality that feels personal and real, something international chains can rarely replicate.
In such a competitive environment, staying agile is key. We continuously adapt to evolving market dynamics, guest expectations, and partner needs. At the same time, I prioritise long-term trust over short-term wins. Sustainable growth doesn’t come from chasing volume; it comes from building loyalty, staying consistent, and showing up for our partners, year after year.
What keeps you motivated and inspired after so many years in the hospitality industry?
It’s the pace of change and the chance to help shape what’s next. Hospitality is an industry where nothing
stays still; traveller behaviour, technology, and global trends are always evolving. That constant reinvention is energising.
I also find inspiration in the people I work with. Watching young talent grow, take ownership, and bring fresh perspectives to the table is incredibly motivating. Being able to mentor and contribute to their development has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my role.
How has your experience across different operational departments shaped the way you lead the sales function today?
My background in operations spanning Guest Services, Reservations, and Front Office has given me a 360-degree understanding of the guest journey. That hands-on experience allows me to align sales strategies with what’s actually happening on the ground.
I have never seen sales as a silo. It’s interconnected with service delivery, product quality, and reputation. Because I’ve worked shoulder-to-shoulder with operational teams, I approach sales with empathy and realism. It helps me lead with clarity, set achievable targets, and ensure our messaging reflects what guests can genuinely expect.
How has the rebranding from Paradise Island Resort to Villa Nautica influenced your sales strategy and market positioning to attract both repeat and new guests?
The rebranding of Paradise Island to Villa Nautica has been a defining shift, transforming how we present the resort and connect with today’s evolving travellers. While the original brand carried strong recognition, especially among repeat guests, Villa Nautica allowed us to reposition the property as a premium, lifestylefocused destination inspired by bold design and a distinctive nautical identity.
This theme gave the resort a fresh narrative that resonates with socially driven, image-conscious travellers. It also opened the door to a high-value audience we call “Showboaters”, stylish, outgoing guests drawn to the seafarer lifestyle across five unique segments.
We have since adapted our messaging and content to align with these aspirational personas, while ensuring we maintain the loyalty of long-time guests. In key markets like Europe, the UK, Russia, and the GCC, Villa Nautica now stands out as a modern, vibrant, and experiential island escape elevated in look and feel, yet still rooted in warm, authentic Maldivian hospitality.
With the evolving landscape of international travel, are there any emerging or untapped source markets that Villa Nautica is targeting for growth in the near future, and what specific approaches are you taking to engage these travelers?
Alongside strengthening our footprint in key markets such as the UK, Europe, Russia, India, China, and the GCC, we are actively exploring opportunities in Southeast Asia, Australia, and the United States.
Rather than take a one-size-fits-all approach, we are tailoring
our market entry strategies, which include strategic charter collaborations, roadshow participation, and localised digital content. We are also refining offers to align with cultural expectations and emerging traveller profiles, such as long-stay guests, digital nomads, and experience-led millennials.
How do you see the Maldives as a destination evolving over the next few years, and where does Villa Nautica fit into that broader narrative?
The Maldives is diversifying beyond its traditional image as a honeymoon destination. Today’s travellers want more than indulgence, they seek purpose, variety, and emotional connection. We’re seeing rising demand for multigenerational travel, solo journeys, wellness-led escapes, and even extended lifestyle stays.
Villa Nautica is uniquely placed within this shift. With its bold, seafarer-inspired design and energetic identity, it resonates with a new generation of socially engaged, style-savvy travellers. We’re focused on curating experiences that are flexible, expressive, and deeply immersive. As the Maldives broadens its narrative, Villa Nautica offers a refreshing, contemporary take that is authentic at its core, but unafraid to break the mould.
Looking back at over 20 years with Villa Resorts, what advice would you give your younger self starting out in hospitality sales?
I would say consistency beats intensity. Focus on relationships, listen more than you speak, and play the long game. It is tempting early on to chase numbers, but true success in sales is built on trust, patience, and persistence.
And don’t shy away from difficult seasons, they teach you the most. The setbacks, the slow periods, the difficult negotiations, these are what sharpen your instincts. Embrace them, stay grounded, and keep moving forward.

LIVE THE ISLAND PULSE
Adventure, Culture, and Celebration:
The Lively Resorts Experience
Alila Kothaifaru Maldives
In a destination long known for its natural beauty and refined hospitality, some resorts have embraced a more vibrant rhythm. Here, quiet luxury exists alongside energy, immersion, and connection. Across the Maldives, a distinct style of retreat has taken hold, one where celebration, culture, and play are woven seamlessly into the island experience.
These aren’t party islands in the traditional sense. Instead, they offer a carefully curated blend of entertainment and authenticity. The days are still filled with the familiar pleasures of island life, from snorkelling in turquoise lagoons to lazy afternoons by the pool. But come evening, the tempo shifts. Fire dancers light up the beach. DJs spin under starlit skies. Guests gather around bonfires or move to the rhythm of live music on the sand.
Evenings in the Maldives are often alive with colour, music, and performance, especially at resorts like Seaside Finolhu in Baa Atoll, where evenings unfold like a theatrical performance. With a rotating line-up of acrobats, stilt walkers, and even “mermaid” performers, while its weekly sandbank party delivers a full-blown spectacle of music, dinner, and dance beneath the stars. Others, like Kandima Maldives, bring a modern twist with glow-in-the-dark beach parties and holographic light shows set a high-energy tone, with everything from live bands to themed pool parties keeping the atmosphere dynamic. Over at SO/ Maldives, the Pavilion Bar sets the mood for sundown with Mediterranean-twisted Levantine cocktails and champagne served from a stylish table-side cart, perfect for toasting as the sun dips below the horizon. Meanwhile, The Standard Maldives presents Guduguda, where casual, cushioned dinners on the floor meet authentic seafood-rich curries and coconut-milk delights served indoors or on a patio over the water, conversational, relaxed, and deeply rooted in Maldivian hospitality.
But a lively retreat isn’t defined solely by spectacle. Cultural expression also plays a central role. Resorts are increasingly weaving in Maldivian traditions, from drumming performances to local art workshops, offering guests a deeper, more interactive experience of the islands. Evenings at these Maldivian retreats unfold like immersive cultural showcases. At Alila Kothaifaru, guests embark on The Art of the Coconut, a four-hour journey weaving Maldivian stories, art, cuisine, and wellness, watching traditional coconut climbers in action, crafting creations from coconut palms, learning to mix cocktails in Mirus Bar, and ending the experience with a flower-strewn coconut bath and soothing massage. This new approach is about balance. Rest is still sacred, but it is complemented by moments of surprise and joy. A fire show breaking out after dinner, a neon-lit dance floor appearing by the beach, or a soulful singer drawing guests together under the palms. These retreats are designed not only to delight, but to connect. Whether through music, movement, or shared laughter, they create space for celebration in its many forms.
As travel continues to evolve, so too does the definition of luxury. For a growing number of guests, it is no longer just about peace and privacy, but also about the spark of something unexpected. The Maldives is embracing this shift, proving that even paradise can have a pulse.
