OCBA 2023 Professionalism Awards Recipients

The Orange County Bar Association strives to increase the civility and professionalism of its members by offering seminars, publishing articles in The Briefs, and reaching out to local law schools, elementary, middle, and high schools, and the community at large with activities that promote the profession and our system of justice. Through our annual Professionalism Awards, we recognize three members of the legal community whose practice, services, professionalism, ethical conduct, demeanor, and high moral standards best embody the qualities we all seek to emulate. The OCBA is proud to announce the following individuals as this year’s awards recipients.

The Honorable Roy B. “Skip” Dalton, Jr. James G. Glazebrook Memorial Bar Service Award

The Honorable Roy B. “Skip” Dalton, Jr. served as a Federal District Judge since 2011. He currently serves as Senior District Judge, United States District Court, in the Middle District of Florida. He is board certified as a civil trial lawyer by both the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocates.

As a lawyer, Judge Dalton was a tireless servant to the profession. He served as a Member and Chair of the Fifth District Court of Appeal Nominating Commission; Member and Chair of the Grievance Committee of the Florida Bar for the Ninth Judicial Circuit; Member, Florida Supreme Court Committee on Standard Civil Jury Instructions; and Member, Board of Directors, Florida Trial Lawyers.

Mary Ann Morgan, Esq. William Trickel, Jr. Professionalism Award

Mary Ann Morgan has been practicing law for over 30 years. She currently focuses on consumer justice as a Florida Trial Attorney at Morgan Trial Law where she is a managing partner.

Ms. Morgan has been an active member of her legal community, leading by example. She recently completed her ninth year on the Florida Bar Board of Governors and is the Past Chair of the Disciplinary Review Committee and of the Communications Committee for the Florida Bar. Ms. Morgan also served on the Executive Committee for the Board of Governors and was only the second woman from the Ninth Judicial Circuit to serve on the Board of Governors. In 2017 she was awarded the Tony Boggs Excellence in Discipline Award by Bill Schifino, President of The Florida continued page 8

Annie Po Lam Kwong has been practicing law for over 12 years. She is an associate in the Orlando Office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.

Ms. Kwong has dedicated countless hours to her legal community. Her community efforts include the Greater Orlando Asian American Bar Association as member and past president; Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers as member and committee chair positions; Orange County Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Section Board member and committee chair positions; Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association Foundation, and the Teen Court Board of Directors.

She has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2019 New Lawyer
