PANAMERA TURBO S E-HYBRID
– Powerful, poised and pure
The new Porsche Panamera covers an even wider spectrum, linking the performance of a sports car with the comfort of an exclusive saloon.
With the release of the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, the Panamera product lineup has been completed with the most powerful version combining a 419kW four-litre biturbo V8 with a 100kW electric motor. Its all-electric range has been increased thanks to a new 17.9kWh battery and optimised driving modes. But there’s so much more to this flagship Panamera; at the heart of the drive architecture is the electric motor, integrated into the eightspeed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) which produces a power output of 100kW (136 PS) and maximum torque of 400Nm. This makes for outstanding driving performance. In combination with its standard Sport Chrono package, and powered by the four-litre V8 biturbo engine, it sprints from zero to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds – 0.2 seconds faster than its predecessor – and reaches a top speed of 315km/h, which represents an improvement of 5km/h. Porsche therefore has underlined its goal to deliver the best performance in class by significantly boosting the engine output. A new operating strategy and more powerful battery have contributed to significantly improving the electric driving experience and all-electric range. Thanks to the use of optimised cells, the gross capacity of the highvoltage battery has been increased from 14.1 to 17.9kWh and the driving modes have been adapted for even more efficient energy utilisation. g

Porsche plug-in hybrid models are adaptable and can be charged at home either via a standard domestic outlet or a power socket. A model-specific charging capacity of up to 7.2kW is possible with the standard Porsche Mobile Charger. Charging is also possible at public charging points using a Mode 3 cable. There’s no shortage of drive modes to choose from with Normal, Sport and Sport + modes endowing the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid with immediate changes of throttle, transmission, suspension and steering. There’s also E-Power, Hybrid Auto, E-Hold and E-Charge settings that add even more scope to your driving experience. Each mode selected prioritises electric power, but it can reach into the combustion engine for even more excitement when called upon. If that’s not quite enough excitement, then there’s a Sport Response button on the steering wheel that will release 20 seconds of amplified engine and transmission response.

Noticeable improvements have been made to driving comfort and cornering stability by enhancing all the chassis systems. As a result, the adaptive shock absorbers, electronic roll stabilisation, steering system and revamped engine and axle mounts have all been optimised. Standard on the flagship Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid are all currently available chassis and control systems such as the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) electric roll stabilisation system, which includes Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), rear axle steering with Power Steering Plus, as well as the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system. Inside the stylish cockpit where each seat wraps its passenger, the Porsche Communication Management system incorporates new digital functions and services, such as upgraded Voice Pilot online voice control, Risk Radar, Radio Plus, wireless Apple CarPlay and many other Connect services. Outside targeted design features have sharpened the appearance, with a new front section, a modified tail-light strip, new wheels and colours refining the look of the new Panamera. The newly designed front of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is differentiated by its dual C-shaped Turbo front light modules as well as its larger side air intakes. The revamped light bar at the rear now runs seamlessly over the luggage compartment lid with an adapted contour. Options available include darkened Exclusive Design tail-light modules with dynamic Coming/Leaving Home animation, three new 20- and 21-inch wheels and two new exterior colours (Cherry Metallic and Truffle Brown Metallic). Despite the sports car styling of the Panamera range, there’s plenty of space inside the cockpit and in the boot of the car. Porsche’s stylists have accomplished a design coup giving the four-door sedan a sleek sporty look without restricting entry or rear seat passenger legroom. Add to that three available body variants – sports sedan, Executive (long-wheelbase version) and Sport Turismo – and there is a Panamera ready to deliver power, poise and environmental credentials to your life. •
