Job Summary The Director of Advancement is responsible for securing resources from external corporations, foundations, governmental agencies, and individual donors in order to support new and existing programs at OPSB charter and direct run schools. The person must perform effectively the following: Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Researches and writes grant proposals to supplement operating and restricted funds; • Establishes policy and procedures for all fundraising support from external corporations, foundations, and individual donors who seek to partner and/or donate external funds to the OPSB schools; • Collaborates with school leaders to identify critical funding needs outside of regular budget; • Designs and implements innovative programs to identify prospective major and/or principal gift donors; • Oversees the tracking and management of funds to ensure guidelines and requirements are met for reports; • Coordinates with OPSB leadership to develop philanthropic gifts and fundraising strategies to support budgetary needs and prepares them for prospect meetings and solicitations; • Develops and enhances relationships with prospective individual, corporate, & foundation donors; • Processes gifts and pledge contributions; • Ensures the proper processing and accounting of all private contributions through regular reconciliations with Business and Finance; • Prepares tax receipts and acknowledgements of donations; • Tracks, monitors, and reports on status of corporate, foundation, and philanthropic donors’ grants and grant proposals; • Plans, manages, and conducts special fundraising & cultivation events involving donors & prospects; • Promotes and maintains annual fund giving from alumni and interested donors; • Identifies sources of funding from local, state and national corporations and foundations and from local, state and federal government agencies; Ensures that OPSB remains in compliance with all grants reporting as required by funders; • Develops and maintains a fundraising information system/database; • Prepares and distributes accurate acknowledgement letters and correspondence; • Monitors opportunities and threats in state and federal funding for OPSB schools’ operations; • Perform other duties as prescribed.
