FROM CHARLOTTE AIRPORT TO UPTOWN AND BACK

Upon arrival in Charlotte, each student will be responsible for arranging their own transfer to the Fairfield Hotel Uptown. (Check-in at 3 p.m.)

The trip to uptown is easy, short, and cheap thanks to the TAXI and UBER services.

VICENZA

FROM VENICE AIRPORT TO VICENZA AND BACK

SUGGESTED

You must arrive no later than 3 p.m. to use our private transportation from Marco Polo Airport in Venice to Vicenza and book a flight no earlier than 9 am.

Reservations are requested to use our private bus. The rate is $100 round-trip, to be paid in cash upon arrival to our STAFF waiting for you at the airport.

From Venezia Marco Polo Airport to Venezia Santa Lucia station to take a train to Vicenza

• ACTV urban bus line 5. Journey time: about 35 minutes. From here to Vicenza take a train

Where can I pick up a bus?

At the Airport: bus stop, second lane outside the Airport Arrivals hall.

At the station: turn right, walk for 10 minutes along Ponte della Costituzione as far as Piazzale Roma. No direct trains are available.

LES CONTES D’ HOFFMANN / LE NOZZE DI FIGARO

Your arrival date in Charlotte is June 19 and departure date to Italy is July 9. Your arrival date in Italy is July 10 and the departure date is July 23.

Please send the costume fitting sheet attached. The music edition for both Operas is Schirmer. Remember everything needs to be sung in the original language and you have to arrive with your role completely memorized according to the cuts provided by the Maestros.

Musical theater performers should have a black out-fit for performing-should be dance friendly, please see the website for details. Also women should have black or nude character shoes.

ONLY ORCHESTRA & PIANISTS

Your arrival date in Charlotte is June 19 and departure date to Italy is July 9. Your arrival date in Italy is July 10 and the departure date is July 23.

For men, tuxedo is required. Please send us your ideas for Chamber Music and we will try to coordinate the program for the Concerts. If you have a program ready with your colleagues coming, please let us know. You’ll receive an email soon with a link to download most of the public domain Orchestra parts.

Your payment deadline is written in your acceptance letter. Please check it so you don’t miss the deadline.

If your payment deadline is missed, we only accept check pictures via email or whatsapp.

As soon as you receive this letter PLEASE SEND THE FOLLOWING BY APRIL 15TH:

• HEADSHOT (We will use photos and resumee for the 2023 season program, website, and Social Media)

• SHORT BIO - maximum 5 lines (see sample below*)

• VIDEO - Introduce yourself with a maximum 30 sec video. Send it via whatsapp + 1 (323) 594 0890. We will use it for Instagram and Facebook.

• REPERTOIRE LIST - We will take care of the Music programs for the weekly Concerts and Recitals. Please include: 2 italian arias or art songs, 2 musical theater if you want, 1 french aria or melodie, lieder, etc... from your own repertoire (see sample below**)

• MEASUREMENTS - See costume measurement form attached.

If you don’t send your picture and resumee by the deadline you will be not included on the web and in all other Academy printed materials.

Leslie plans on receiving her Masters and Doctorate of Musical Arts after she completes her undergraduate work at the University of New Mexico.

GENERAL SUGGESTIONS

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO ITALY?

• Remember to bring comfortable shoes, cool comfortable attire for day wear, and evening formal dress for the ILA Opera concerts and in-Concert Opera performances.

• Cell phone / Computer adaptor

ORCHESTRA AND PIANISTS

• Tuxedo is required for men, black formal attire for women. Don’t bring anything of great value. Once in Italy, you will have the Festival program, all instructions to begin and a weekly schedule.

AT THE AIRPORT

• When you arrive at the Marco Polo Airport in Venice, you will find ILA staff waiting for you with a private BUS*. The meeting point will be announced before your arrival via email or whatsapp. Please, remember that to get on the bus only one BIG Suitcase plus the HAND luggage are allowed. Every extra luggage cost is € 30. Our assistants will be there and you can call us at the provided numbers if you have any problem. To use our BUS service, you must arrive no later than 2 p.m.

BE PREPARED

• You will be working very hard. FOR SINGERS: Remember that you must know your parts by heart on arrival in order to work easily with the teaching staff and the Conductor. We have had great success in the past, and many journalists, agents, and talent scouts will be present to meet you and to welcome you as well. Last, but not least, being part of the ILA Program 2023 means that you are not allowed to participate in any other program for singers or orchestra and/or music program and/or master class during the same period.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION DEPOSIT

(only if you stay at the Hotel)

• Upon checking in, you will need to leave a credit card number at the front desk for any additional charges or fees. Nothing will be charged until there are charges at check-out (as with any stay at a hotel). If you travelling with a family member or a friend please remember that you have to pay for the accommodation. In Italy we pay per person and not per room as in USA. If you need the accommodation for your parents and friends, you can ask our staff to receive ILA’s Hotel special offer.

***It is not possible to provide Hotel accommodations for ILA students before, or after the scheduled arrival and departure dates without payment in advance***
