Контекстът, в който фондация „Отворени изкуства” се появява, вече представлява различна ситуация, в която травмите не са толкова остри, а над пропастите и дълбоките различия са хвърлени мостове. Тези мостове пресякоха границите, които се отвориха след 2007 г., и дадоха възможности за непосредствено общуване, срещи и сближаване, което формира нови поколения и нов тип градска култура. Фондация „Отворени изкуства” е сред организациите, които активно участват в тези процеси и които в контекста както на Пловдив, така и на България показаха нов тип отношение към града, културната памет, участието на хората, работата с установените институции и разбирането на съвременното изкуство като част от съвременната култура, комуникация и отношение към света. Тяхната дейност тук адресира една глобална идея за съвременност, която можем да открием под една или друга форма навсякъде. Неслучайно първият и най-дългогодишен проект на фондацията е „Нощта на музеите и галериите”, превърнала се днес в мултижанровия фестивал „НОЩ/Пловдив”, който е едно от лицата на града. През годините фестивалът се развива и надгражда така, че да създаде условия и среда за комуникиране на много разнообразно съдържание. То включва както по-традиционна култура, така и съвременно изкуствo, има както образователна, така и спектакуларна част. Самият фестивал се случва както навън в града, така и в самите институции и поставя на една карта музеи, галерии, читалища, градски пространства,

The context in which Open Arts Foundation came into being, was an altogether different situation, with traumas subdued and bridges crossing over the gaps and the profound differences. These bridges crossed the borders which opened after 2007 and provided possibilities for direct communication, meetings, and the bringing of people together, which resulted in the formation of new generations and a new type of urban culture. Open Arts Foundation is among the organisations which are active participants in these processes and which, within the context of both the city of Plovdiv and Bulgaria, showed a new kind of attitude toward the city, the cultural memory, the participation of people, the work with the established institutions, and the understanding of contemporary art as part of our contemporary culture, communication, and attitude toward the world. Their activity here addresses a global idea of contemporaneity which we can discover, in one form or another, everywhere. It is not by chance that the first and most long-standing project of the foundation is the Night of Museums and Galleries, which has evolved today into NIGHT/Plovdiv, a multi-genre festival, one of the city’s faces. Through the years, the festival has been developing and upgrading so as to create the conditions and environment for communicating a vastly diverse content. It includes both more traditional culture and contemporary art; it has both an educational and a spectacular part. The festival itself takes place outdoors in the city as well as in the buildings of the institutions, and brings together on the same map museums, galleries, community centres, urban spaces, clubs, and so on. THE NIGHT is an event which is actually implemented by the foundation and by the people alike, and that is exactly why it
