MESSAGE FROM THE PUBLISHER

A s I usher in October I am grateful for the

changing landscapes, cooler mornings and evenings, and shorter days. Just like in nature I feel a winding down and slowing pace all around me. I am looking forward to the warmth of a bulky sweater and wooly socks, and watching the rain as I nestle in with a hot cup of coffee or chocolate depends on the time of day! Most of all, I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. Turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin and apple pie - a fire in the hearth, and family. This is also the time of the year when we express our thanks and gratitude, and I am so grateful and thankful for so many things. Only a month ago I made a big decision to fully retire from working. It was positively scary, but I knew (even though it was deep down and really hard to grab onto sometimes) that I could trust the Universe to provide for me. My passion is this magazine and I have wanted to work on it full-time - to dedicate myself to it entirely. This is my second issue now - since pausing the magazine back in March this year and I am feeling a strong positivity in my life. The deeper focus I am feeling is partly attributed to my recent retirement, but it is also the Libra season! And I am truly a Libra. I revel in ‘balance’ and ‘beauty’, and of course this magazine is my greatest expression of that and I am so very appreciative of you reading it. Thank you

CHOICES, BE THE ONE THAT PROVIDES THE

WISDOM WE NEED oo many times we find ourselves facing a large structure in front of us until we make the choice to look side to side or above to see what will come.

T

The spring of 2023 brought me, Ms. Kat to that place.

The day felt like it had something to say to me; gentle breeze, sunshine and a message from my Spirit Guide to tell me to stop-Take a Breath. Words that I have given to clients, fellow lightworkers, and to myself many times. Today was that day. The road driving north seemed like it went on forever, the distance was needed that day. Laughing and silence at moments with a friend (Ms. D) who I am forever grateful for. She assists me in the moments I need to be reminded to take a break and must hear my Spirit Guides to tell me to take a breath. Most of the time we choose to move forward at a speed that only allows for seconds not minutes let alone a few hours. This day I was guided to slow down and take time.

The traffic on Hwy 400 North was slow on this Saturday, surprising yet needed. The car slowed down from 110km to 90km then to a stop on the side of the road. The car eased over slowly even on the gravel. We looked at each and said, “ok then” and laughed. Here we are stopped on the side of the road and the transport trucks went past, some honking others feeling confused I bet. It didn’t matter honestly, just that I stopped to see the roses. Not at all. As I giggle. Rocks, Rocks, Rocks! The hunt was on - the trance set in and I / we were off.

Picture this - high heel boots “these boots we meant for Walkin “by Nancy Sinatra plays in my head and of course I started to sing. I found myself laughing. Yes, that is me all dressed up to go somewhere for Easter Dinner and I am picking up rocks. Let me add that I just had my acrylic nails done and yes, they are not short. My heart began to fill again with joy and bliss. The ground started speaking to me and thanking me for stopping. I felt blessed to feel the true “grounding” we speak of as spiritualist.

The Road... I wanted to shout, “My Heart chakra is open to receive, and my Root chakra embraces the grounding and trust I need today” although I did not, I stood tall. Closed my eyes, placed my hand over my heart and allowed Reiki to flow through me once again. I found myself thinking when I last did a selfreiki session…why am I questioning I asked myself and I listened to my Spirit Guide, my mother. Her words went right down through my soul allowing the vibration to be felt all through my body and soul, ‘you do every day, but for protection - today you do it for Self-Love.” Very true Mom I whispered.

The role that is gifted to me and I choose to embrace as a Spiritual Lightworker International Medium Clairvoyant is to assist. I focus daily on protection of my body and soul to make sure that I have balance to assist in the ways that I am to assist. To connect past loved ones with the living and the living to connect with past loves. To allow journeys to be shown with free will for guidance from Spirit Guides, Ancestors and Divine. My healing this day made me feel empowered once again and ready for paths to be shown with wisdom to receive.

Climbing over rocks and stepping through puddles my Inner Child came to play. Love when she comes out on days like this. Then I looked up to see two doves on a tree branch. Watching and wanting to connect with us. They were there to welcome us on this day. Flying from one branch to another, never leaving each other’s side. Message received is what I heard.

My Spirit Guides were very busy on this day. As always. “You are never alone”, thank you I whispered. This day gets filed as wisdom for my soul. A list begins to be formed with check marks that are added as I travel through the memory. The time to connect with a friend: Check. Time to slow down to breathe: Check. Time to allow for Chakra Healing: Check. Time for Breath: Check and Double Check. So far so good, I tell myself. Then it happens. The camera clicked. I did not hear it, although I asked my friend to take pictures of these magic moments. Getting prepared to get in the car to continue the drive up north the photos were shown to me. I took her phone and scanned through the pictures she took. The first the picture you see of me standing surrendering to the rocks in front of me.

My sweater pockets became full and hanging down to the ground before I walked back to my car, I could not help but smile. My boots we dusty and mud on the bottom. “Come on I shouted” to Ms. D. Off we go down the road to an open field to the right of us. This time a bit safer off the highway.

This is where the colors of the Red Jasper, Citrine and Quartz were only a few of the precious aka rocks crystals that were gifted to me this beautiful day. |12

I remembered the feeling of the rock speaking to me ~ Breathe Just Breathe~ I took a breath. I saw all the wisdom of the world of my path written on the rock.

The Road... As I read each word…words such as forgiveness, past experiences, trauma, classes, each word as I read and reread became lighter. The higher I looked up I read words of encouragement, you got this, trust and embrace. Then I asked the Rock to show me the ones to assist me during the wisdom to receive in the path that awaits for me. Jumping boldly out of the stone: Dad, Mom and the list of all the Angels who walk with me…Archangel Michael, the protector Archangel Raphael, the Healer. The words teachers and mentors were there too. Looking higher I felt I saw an image that I had to look at twice: it was me. My arms were open wide. The feeling of hope came over me. I started to feel peace once again.

That day I made a choice to stop and listen to what I needed at this given time. No explanation required, just that I need it to see that I could do it. The path provided this day gave me back Balance and Love, taking me to a place to hold me in power again. To fill the vessel (my soul) again. To allow me to just be in the moment. For this I am truly Blessed. If you find the road that takes you to the place that you need to breathe, embrace the wisdom gifted to you. It is a priceless gift worth a million kisses from the universe for you. ~ Just Breathe, Ms. Kat

practice that combines reflection and observation with artistry and expression to create a personal chronicle of the natural world - of being with the planet. [By extension any journaler journaling can benefit from the insights below.] Through words, sketches, doodles, and collage elements, you can create a journal journals - that record your thoughts and feelings from the presence and perspectives of head, heart and hands. BRIEFLY, 5 BENEFITS OF NATURE JOURNALING

1. Cultivating Mindfulness and Presence - in being FOR the World it’s framed and rescripted by being WITH the Planet – thus nature as self-care companion and living systems educator 2. Strengthening Observation & Reflection as you observe and reflect on the foreground, it’s digging into what’s in the background that you experience the extraordinary – see the trees. Now what’s in the background of the trees?

3. Enhancing Knowledge and Connection through use of metaphors, walking with nature, by oneself, and/or in conversations with others edits (adds, alters, deletes) your perspectives – nature is what nature does! 4. Here are the essential tools and materials needed for nature journaling and how they can unlock your creative potential whether as a beginner, an infrequent dabbler, or returning as an intentional eco-creator. (Personal Note: I’m summarizing my starting point…)

UNLEASHING YOUR NATURAL POTENTIAL 1 Pens and Pencils Pens and pencils are the mainstay of your nature journaling toolkit. Consider using different types and thicknesses to achieve a variety of effects. Fine-tipped pens allow for precise detailing, while thicker markers or brush pens can add boldness. Experiment with different hardness levels of graphite pencils to achieve different shades and textures in your drawings. Experiment with different width of pen nib including inexpensive calligraphy pens.

3 Watercolors and Brushes

Watercolors add a vibrant splash of color to your nature journal entries. Invest in a portable watercolor set with a range of colors that can be mixed to create an endless palette. Brushes come in various sizes and shapes, each serving a specific purpose. A small detail brush is ideal for precise work, while a larger brush can be used for washes or creating broad strokes. Ensure the paper you are using welcomes watercolor strokes. Possible substitution are colored highlighters.

2 Erasers and Sharpeners

Erasers and sharpeners are indispensable companions for any nature journaling enthusiast. Erasers help you correct mistakes or make adjustments to your sketches. Choose a soft, kneaded eraser for gentle removal, or a small handheld eraser for precision. Keep your pencils sharp with a reliable sharpener, ensuring you have a fine point for intricate details. Some sharpers include different size holes for different pencil sizes.

Field guides and reference materials are invaluable for accurate identification and detailed information about plants, animals, and natural phenomena. Choose guides specific to your region or the subjects you are interested in. These references can enhance your understanding, enabling you to depict accurate details in your journal entries and expand your knowledge of the natural world. And yet, as a beginner, note what you see and feel in the now. Naming it, can arrive later.

5 Adhesive and Scissors

Adhesive such as glue or tape is handy for attaching “something” (without damaging nature) to your journal pages. Use acid-free glue or removable tape to ensure longevity and preservation.

UNLEASHING YOUR NATURAL POTENTIAL Scissors come in handy for trimming paper or cutting out images from magazines or printed references to include in your journal. Suggestion: carry non-pointed scissors. Bring a stack of colored sticky notes for creating tabs and starting a collage idea.

THE JOURNAL ITSELF You can buy journals of different sizes. They can be hardcover and/or paperback. They include lined and unlined pages. Some have half lined and half unlined pages. And others have combinations of all. When using watercolors, be sure to purchase a journal that does not bleed the watercolor paint. You could take combinations of paper types and add a clip board. Afterwards, create a three ring binder journal or folder journal. What’s important here is experimentation. What works for you for the location and your intention is what makes sense to bring.

Why do some pets come up with the same illnesses as their owners? Miranda - Caledon, Ontario Pets have an amazing connection to us as humans. I love this question because it Segway’s nicely into how do we care for our pets. I have decided to really take some time with this question because of its importance. We are all energetic beings. We are all able to “network” with each other like computers networking. When we meet each other or even think of each other we are not tapping into the spirit of that person we encounter. It’s why some who are sensitive just “now” when someone is thinking of them, or when their children need them, or someone is about to call.

Some animals are highly spiritual beings that are psychic. These sensitivities, coupled with their unconditional love for us will allow them to take on some of our “stuff”. They are empathetic creatures that can also take the over flow of our emotions…Grief, Joy, sadness and, yes, illness too. I had a neighbour a number of years ago, who had inherited her father’s Jan Russell after he had passed of a severe illness. Two years later, the dog, who was 13 passed of the same illness. This is not isolated to the physical either. Many animals have been known to have the same dietary issues, anxiety issues, and even have had pet dementia at the same time as their elderly owners.

This, however, can go both ways. This is why it is so important to take care of ourselves and our pet pal families. What we do for ourselves we do for them. I know many owners whose animals have stomach issues that are sympathetic pains that emanate from the pet pal. This is also dependent, I find on the species and how in tune we are to them. Some people are dog people because it is their spirit animal, in their Chinese zodiac, or maybe somewhere in a past life (cross species incarnation is another article that may be of interest). Lastly, very special animals that are spirit level communicators can take on stuff from our dream time too! Our cat black, who I wrote about in last month’s edition travelled with her dad to the Akashic Records one night and literally protected him while he was there. Two days later she had a severe urinary infection. Something that she had never had before. I for one, do not believe in coincidence. I do however, believe in synchronicity and timing, and it was at that same time that my man was opening up to his gifts. Taking care of them and us is imperative! Sound clearings can be played gently and softly throughout the house, realigning all around it. Smoke smudge for those who can (not recommended for those with birds, reptiles, spiders, or children under the age of 1 year old.) in lieu of a smoke smudge liquid smudging is just as effective. In the end, this is an important practice just for health and balance. We are all sensitive being consistently feeling our way through the world and connecting to each other on deep levels. Love, care and awareness makes us and our pet family whole and harmonious.

As a communicator one of my gifts is to feel what the animal is feeling. I do get joints are achy, arthritis, the need for more humidity in the house is necessary, her nose internally feels dry. have personally been going through a very challenging time in my life the past few months and I know I’m not alone in my struggle. With so many planets in retrograde, almost everyone I talk to is being challenged in one area of their life or another. The Law of Attraction would have us believe that when we struggle, experience negative thoughts or feelings, this means we can’t manifest what we desire. However, it’s important to remember that the Law of Attraction is only one of twelve Universal Laws, and that the difficult times also serve a purpose.

Personal development is the journey of becoming who you are, by unbecoming everything you are not. As a Personal Development Coach, I help my clients identify goals that align with who they are and what they value. Personal development is the journey of becoming who you are, by unbecoming everything you are not. It’s about authenticity and being brave enough to walk through the fire to get to the other side. This process is often uncomfortable, sometimes even painful. It’s important to remember that just because something feels “bad” it doesn’t make it wrong. It’s the challenges we experience that bring us the most significant growth.

For example, when the opportunity to leave Canada and move to Mexico was presented to me, my initial reaction was to say “No, I can’t do that.” The fears and insecurities jumped to the front of the line. Despite the fact that I had been manifesting my version of my best life, even creating dream boards that had pictures of beaches and palm trees for years, all the work and sacrifices I made were to get me there “one day.” I realized that what I wanted was being offered to me, and I just had to accept the fear and insecurity as part of the process of going for it. It wasn’t about dismissing or denying the “negative” emotions but accepting them and processing them as part of the journey. Once I embraced that, everything went smoothly and it affirmed this is exactly where I needed to be.

This difficult stage in my life, serves a purpose. Now, a few years later, I’m being called to grow and expand once again, to get closer to who I want to be and what I want my life experience to be. LIFE, Through a Cracked Lens o many of us spend our days seeing life through a cracked lens. Perception colours everything and gives us an incomplete view of what we are trying to see. Most of the time, we don’t even know that we are seeing an incomplete picture. In our journey to becoming wiser human beings, we need to understand that there is a big difference between the factual information our senses gather and our interpretation of these events. We tend to treat our interpretations as fact! The truth is – they are not! Perception is the process of gathering information through our senses, and then, organizing and making sense of it. The process of gathering information is gained through what you see, hear, feel, taste and smell. It happens naturally without any effort on your part.

As we process this information with our knowledge, memories and attention, a new picture is formed. Here is an example from our breakfast table. Ed, my husband, does not like strong coffee. I like strong coffee. When we make a pot of coffee in the morning, we have agreed to move the setting on our coffeepot about halfway between medium and strong. Ed perceives his coffee compromise as a little strong, but ok and I perceive my coffee compromise as a little weak, but still flavourful. It’s fascinating that two cups of coffee from the same pot can have such different responses. Each of us is experiencing our coffee through our own cracked lens.


LIFE THROUGH A CRACKED LENS You have a perception that is as unique as you are. Everything that happens to you during your day is perceived in a certain way. Actually, these are called perceptual filters. They are running unconsciously 24/7. Perceptual filters behave like sunglasses or even cracked lenses. We change their colour as easily as we change our mood or our thoughts. What I mean by ‘filter’ is that it is part of our process of perception. That is, how we view our life and everything happening within it. Filters are based on expectations, assumptions, and experiences we’ve learned through life. Some perceptual filters can also contribute great chaos and strain to your relationships both at home and at work. Some perceptual filters create ease, calm and happiness in your world. This brings us to the concept of Perceptual Intelligence. Marissa Broughton discussed this ability in her article, “Perceptual Intelligence”. “Perceptual Intelligence is the knowledge and understanding that everything we experience (especially thoughts and feelings) are defined by our perception. It’s important to realize that this is an active, not passive, process and therefore we have the ability to control it or change it.” Perceptual intelligence means that you know you have a choice. What perception are you choosing? When you are aware of what perceptual filter you are using, you now have the option of changing it. You can choose to view things in a different way. This is the beginning of wisdom.

Meditation & Mindfulness

Let’s now bring this conversation about perceptual filters to your perception of yourself. Sometimes this is called self-image. Your self-image is a view of you that is based on expectations, assumptions, and experiences you’ve learned through life. And a lot of this comes from other people! Like your parents. Like your friends. Like your colleagues at work. It usually comes from what other people say about you. The problem is that this is their ‘perception’ about you which is based on their perceptual filters and what they have been told about them! And it is usually this conglomeration of perceptions that makes up what you believe about yourself. So I ask you – how accurate is this information? Here is another question – Do you believe you are a spirit (or soul) or a body? If you believe you are a body – what is driving your body? If you tell me that your mind is driving your body, I ask you another question – What has more capacity – your mind or your heart? Allow me to share what I have experienced over and over again for many years of working with sound with thousands of people. Sound is an energy that allows you to touch your core. An Intentional Love Story

Autumn of the year finds us putting the The finishing touches on the yearly activities of our lives. Like trees we have to accept falling leaves and changes. This is a fall love story about intentions. William saw me sitting in the Dr.’s waiting lounge. He hurried over to connect with his wife’s close friend. It’s been almost a year since we stood together at Carolyn’s gravesite. Concerned by the pain showing on his face, I asked, “William, are you all right?” He reached into his pocket as he sat down, and pulled out his phone’s photo gallery. Then picture by picture he told me their love story. It poured out of him like it was desperate to escape. One picture after another told their story. It was college love at first sight that remained for over 40 years. But here is the secret ingredient that made it last- Intentional Love. William told me that my friend, Carolyn, had grown up in a family deprived of encouragement or affection. She was hungry for anything that helped fill that hole in her heart. William intentionally vowed to take care of her so that she felt loved every day. He had studied the concept of “love languages”. These were ways he could help fulfill the emotional needs of his bride. Through his daily decisions to love Carolyn he built his family around that intention.

She accepted his love with an open appreciation you couldn’t miss. And Carolyn responded in kindness even when his attention seemed overwhelming. Supporting freedom with encouragement, to grow in their careers as teachers and pursue creative dreams, took on importance. They wrote notes hidden in briefcases for business trips away from home. She even surprised him one day by popping into an out of state convention and traveling home with him. Being in close contact was vitally important to both. When together they were usually hand in hand. The photos consistently showed their touch. The family grew to include a son, daughter and several adopted grandchildren with disabilities. Carolyn was the Grandma Taxi as she drove them to school, doctor appointments and counseling sessions. She was also the shoulder to cry on and the one who rejoiced at victories. An Intentional Love Story William explained that every morning he made his “beautiful lady” a specialty coffee that she enjoyed. This was one of those intentions he felt was important. He wanted to start her day with a gesture of love. In the evenings they cooked fresh Paleo type meals together and chatted during the preparations. Every day he looked for ways to insert thoughtfulness. After a business meeting, he’d call to ask if there’s anything she wanted him to pick up on the way home. If she was away, he’d send a message to see if there was anything needing to be done before she got home. They were simple ways to say that I’m thinking of you. William pulled up the photos of the books Carolyn and I published. She wrote them with her grandchildren to be a means of communication between them. We had fun as I worked on the illustrations from pictures she took of the kids and her dog posing for the stories. In William’s tree of life, all the leaves that Carolyn touched have fallen. Brain cancer stole Carolyn from all of us. Of course William’s home is painfully empty to him now. He can’t touch the coffee pot because it’s lost its purpose. And he can’t cook yet at the stove where they held their daily chats. He still feels her presence there. He’s feeling the barren branches. Yet, with a beautiful family full of grandkids that need him and look to him for an example of how to handle grief and life after, he’s needed. It’s almost time for a new Intention. He has to wait for the darkness to begin to lose its power. Slowly he’ll see glimpses that life is still out there and he’ll reach out to touch it. He’ll never regret that he intentionally dedicated his life to making another person feel love.

A Remembrance of Things Imperfect

BORIS GLIKMAN There it is, lying in the pile of top-grade manure my mum bought at a garden supplies shop. The world’s population is jostling around it, all trying to get a piece for themselves. I fight and weave my way through the crowd until I am standing right in front of the fragile, blue-tinged orb, its allure undiminished by the splotches of muck on its surface. I can see my home town, so peer closely, trying to spot myself too. There I am! Looking closely at the globe that has just landed in my backyard.

It is the start of a pleasant summer afternoon. I am running down the stairs, quickly and excitedly, with my neighbours following me. We all want to see the Earth. It has just landed in the backyard.

CHANGING ASK Your Beliefs PERMISSION Part 2

I All of your personal, subconscious beliefs are malleable, they can be changed. No belief is too big or too small, too grand nor too insignificant to be changed.

n the last issue I discussed the idea that your personal belief systems dictate your reality experience and that it is not only possible to change your beliefs but that it is essential in personal growth and happiness. I disclosed some ideas on the very first step which is to find out what your current beliefs are. Here I will outline the next steps to take: Ok, so you've put in the work to discover your beliefs (don't skip that part, go back to my other article if you haven't read it yet or you can't do this part) and you have identified some of your limiting beliefs that you want to delete or some positive beliefs that you want to expand. Changing Your Beliefs Part 2

...you must get the permission/approval from your inner emotional/subconscious self in order for your subconscious to create the change for you.

Next, (and this is an extremely important step that I hardly see mentioned/taught) you must get the permission/approval from your inner emotional/subconscious self in order for your subconscious to create the change for you. If your subconscious/inner self disagrees or doesn't see the value in your choice and all techniques will not budge, you cannot bypass this, even though it seems like you can. That is because when you begin selfdevelopment you normally start at the bottom; the only direction you can go is up. Therefore, your subconscious is already going to be in total agreement with many of the new loving choices that you make, and these choices are generally within your current personal paradigm (they seem reasonable, beneficial and realistic for you); this pattern gives you the impression that you can command your subconscious to make whatever change you want. This is technically true in theory but there are some variables that are not considered. Eventually, you try to expand past your personal paradigm and then nothing seems to work; once this occurs you tend to doubt yourself and feel as though you have not made progress and you regress and devolve.

Meditation and Mindfulness Remember that your subconscious exists in complete devotion to you, it will not allow you to bypass your limitations willy-nilly, for it predicts the danger in this and will protect you. Examples: you want to improve your relationship or create a new one, you want to get fit/healthy/cure an illness, you want a successful business etc. If your personal beliefs indicate that you cannot handle the success, the responsibility, the letdown if you fail, the pain, or has negative associations (love=pain, success=I'll become arrogant, fitness=impossible etc.) then to aid you your subconscious will actually deny your choice to create this change, especially if you do not input this change in the correct way.

If your subconscious wants to protect you from your goals you will have to show it that you no longer need that protection.

Most times, all your inner self wants is to be asked so it knows you are sure you know what you are doing and you are making decisions as a team. However, many times it will reject what you are saying anyways and you will have to gently convince it to change its opinion and open up. To expand your personal paradigm you will have to sit in meditation and talk to your subconscious/inner emotional self. Once you figure out what your current belief is you will have to ask permission to shift the belief (it is usually wise to do so gradually unless you sense you are absolutely sure it will accept a quantum leap, think run the bases instead of going for a home run).


Changing Your Beliefs Part 2 A rule of thumb is to use the logic of what it is holding onto with it and not fight against it. You will have to sit and discuss with your subconscious all the benefits of the change you want and why it should trust you to step into this change. For example: If your subconscious wants to protect you from your goals you will have to show it that you no longer need that protection. You may have to explain that just because your past relationships or business ventures ended in pain doesn't mean they are inherently painful. The decisions you made, the circumstance you were in and how you handled yourself were all factors in feeling like the goal is fundamentally negative when it is not. You have to show it that with a different circumstance or person, you could try again and it would be better; but more importantly, you will have to convince it that you could personally handle the success/responsibility or the pain that may come. There are no guarantees, and there may still be pain or struggle, but if your subconscious trusts you enough to handle these challenges then it will let go and start supporting you in reprogramming what you want. Self-trust becomes a vital concept, if you don't have enough of it you will have to open your subconscious up to the idea and prove yourself. Example: I will develop the skill of meditation and emotional processing so that I can heal myself if my new relationship goes wrong. Or, I will take new courses and get a mentor so I will have an easier time succeeding in my new business/job etc.

Meditation and Mindfulness If it agrees you will feel a warmth and an openness, congrats! This means you are ready to reprogram! This may seem a little confusing or overwhelming but if you keep yourself in a calm state as you explore this you will eventually understand what I am describing and see success. The Thinning

he air is different, crisp and full of energy. Colourful leaves have taken their final bow and fallen to the ground below. Crops are harvested, bringing a feeling of comfort, the need to be cozy and to settle in for a long winter hibernation. It’s also the time when we really feel the thinning of the veil, the barrier between the worlds of the living and the dead (cue spooky music).

During this time, you may experience vivid dreams, leaving you equally as tired in the morning as you were when your head hit the pillow, intensified spiritual experiences and a change in your reaction to different energies around you. If you’ve been working on your intuitive gifts, the month of October is a magikcal time to put your skills to the test, to connect with those on the other side.

But before you do, there are some ground rules and practices you should follow to ensure you benefit from the experience. Protection – not just when the veil is thin, but anytime you wish to connect with the other side, it is so important to ensure you are grounded and in a protected state. In my personal practice, I call on Archangel Michael to be my protector, I keep black tourmaline and selenite ready and expand my physical and energetic shields to create a barrier around me. Respect and Honour – communicating with the deceased is not a game. Spirit should be treated with the same respect you would give to a living and breathing person.

Thinning of the Veil...

The old adage of treat others as you wish to be treated absolutely applies. You can honour the dearly departed by creating an altar, or by performing rituals as a tribute, before you try to connect with them. Meditate – the thinning of the veil is a time to be in tune with your own awareness. Take the time to connect and dive within. This time also serves as an opportunity to connect with your own spirit team, calling in your spirit guides, ancestors and spirit helpers, noting how and what you feel when they are present. Be Thankful – Spirit is not required to communicate with you or anyone. If they do, be thankful for the experience, as you have just received a beautiful gift that many people long for. If communicating with those on the other side is the last thing you would ever want to do, that’s ok! There are a ton of things you can do in October to honour the change in season. It’s a beautiful time to get outdoors and connect with nature, hug a tree or go for a cold dip in the lake. Gather with friends and family and celebrate all that you have to be thankful for and last but not least, Halloween! Whatever you choose, do it with an open mind and an open heart, and always remember to Honour the Magick in You.

SHAMBHALA IS HERE! JEANNIE VASSOS hroughout the ages all ancient cultures and tribes knew of a place that was considered Heaven on Earth; that it exists, and to enter it you had to be void of opinion and judgement and be only from a place of love.

Do you remember how the world was going to end in 2012? There were many prophecies predicting this, but what did they really mean since obviously we’re still here. My understanding is that up until then humans lived to survive, with much fear, greed, violence, and separation. All that was supposed to end and we would begin living in Shambhala - Heaven on Earth. When we look back at the past 10+ years it may seem like the world has gotten worse, but has it? Or are we all, collectively, still in transition and sorting out what needs to stay or go? Can you see evidence of progression? If so, then what do you want Shambhala to look like to you? Imagine going to a gathering, a party, a celebration, and walking through the doors and being greeted by a group of people, many, many deep, all waiting to give you warm, welcoming hugs. Hug after hug after hug you are welcomed and wanted, and you know you are at the right place. There are chairs but most sit on the floor around a gorgeous centre table filled with colourful flowers and delicious fruit.

Those who had been to this kind of party before had dressed to express what kind of night they were going to have. Some would call them costumes, but others would say their clothes were the physical representation of who they truly are. Maybe in another place, at another time, they would be considered strange for a party, but for this Shambhala night, they are perfect. We all close our eyes and relax, we make friends with our neighbours, maybe hold hands or hug some more, and we feel the incredible loving and accepting energy of the room. We talk and laugh with lightness and joy. This gathering not only shows us but we get to also fully experience that while we are all individual and unique, we are also all the same. Accepting everyone’s differences helps us with our own. It is another confirmation that we are all ONE. As we introduce ourselves, some of us new people describe ourselves as we think we appear to the public, normal and regular, but others tell us who they know themselves to be deep inside, or who they are just for that night. We see a performance about what heaven on earth would look like if it was a dance. And then we dance too. Some of us are tentative and just watch, or sway our hips, and some of us dance with abandon. SHAMBHALA IS HERE We go home that night as though we are walking on air, but feel a little disappointed when we wake up the next morning and some of that energy has disappeared. But we smile and think that next time we might choose our clothes differently or we may dance with more abandon. And then we realize that the next time is NOW! This may or may not be how you want your Shambhala to look like, but while we’re in this time of transition, we have the opportunity to create something new. I want Shambhala to FEEL very much like that party! Along with that feeling, I believe Heaven on Earth needs to ensure that everyone is taken care of, primarily having access to the fundamentals of healthcare, education, food, and housing. War, poverty, greed, crime, abuse, and injustice will be non-existent, and instead our world will be filled with beauty, grace, and LOVE. Shambhala IS here! What does it feel like for you? What do you want to change, keep, or get rid of? What do YOU need to DO to eliminate your opinions and judgements so you can successfully enter Shambhala?

The Really Important Stuff of Life

I

’d like you to grab a piece of paper and write down your answers to a few questions I’m about to ask. It’ll be important in a minute, you’ll see. So I’ll wait... Okay. Ready?

WHAT is important to you? Don’t read any further, please, until you’ve written your answer. It doesn’t have to be lengthy or involved, just a quick point form list will do. This little exercise can be quite a profound experience if you do it, so please do yourself a favour and take a few moments with this.

Okay. Next question. WHO is important to you? Another quick point form list, please. Now, a separate list. Please jot down what has eaten up your week. Make a few notes about how you spent your time over the past seven days. What were you doing each day?

One more thing: What were you thinking about during the week? What was on your mind? I really hope you wrote those answers down because there’s something about seeing them in writing that works better than just leaving it all in your head. Now, please take a look at your list of what you did and what you thought about for the past week. Most people have a whole lot of stuff on their lists that is about work – whether it’s about their jobs or the housework, the errands, the obligations, the responsibilities, the meetings, the children’s homework and music lessons and the groceries and the meals blah blah blah. Okay, let’s take a look at your list of what is important to you. Chances are, some of what you were doing will be things that are on that list, as they should be. But are there other things on the list of what's important that aren’t getting your attention? And if so, why not? Look at the list of who is important to you. Did those people make it onto your list of how you spent your time and what you were thinking about?

The Really Important Stuff of Life If there is something out of alignment about all of this, perhaps you could stand a shift in your priorities. If you say it’s important to play and enjoy your life more, then do it. If you say your children, your parents, your sister, or your friends are important to you, then make sure they know it. Write. Phone. Email. Send a card.

And don’t forget: You should really be on that list of who is important to you. If you’re not, then put yourself right at the top and make sure you spend time doing something for yourself every day, even if it’s only for 10 or 15 minutes. Get on with that hobby you love or always wanted to try. Read, go for a walk, or soak in a delicious hot bath.

Or perhaps you could plan a gathering of some sort. It doesn't have to be big and fancy or take a lot of time, effort or money. Maybe a potluck evening, or an afternoon walk together. How about going to an art gallery or just having a few people in for muffins and coffee some morning?

You see, if you don't "restock your own fridge," you'll have nothing left to give to all of those people, activities and responsibilities that fill up your life. Running on fumes will only cause you certain misery, perhaps in anxiety, depression, or a variety of health ailments. If you don't see yourself as the most important person in your life, you will burn yourself out so that you're no good to anyone. I would assume you know this, so if you're not living it, I would invite you to consider making a significant change there.

The point is that it's not about what you do with them that matters. What is important is to make sure you let those people know you're glad they're a part of your life. It's essential to reach out and tell them you're interested in what's happening for them, and to be sure they know you're there for them if they need a shoulder, an ear, or just some company now and then.

We give our attention to what is important to us. Sometimes we know what should be important, and we can say all the right stuff on that subject, but really, in our heart of hearts, our priorities are a mess. It’s another case of actions speaking louder than words. If you say something or someone is important to you, then show it. Prove it. Live it. No more excuses.
